Currently, I have the 2021 Honda CR-V AWD EX-L still 5th generation and honestly it's a great vehicle. My commute to work are super easy, safe, confident in any type of weather living here in the Suburbs of Cleveland Ohio area. It's super reliable, solid made, comfy, spacious, smooth ride, good gas mileage, excellent stability and traction, it runs on the snow like a champ. For people looking for the SUV maket CR-V is a nice choice.
Justin did the best overview I have seen on 2108 Honda CRV thus far. His technical knowledge and his ability to deliver his message that was clear, very relevant and never crossed the line on delivering information versus “selling”. Very professional! I am personally in the waiting game to determine if the 2019 will offer a hybrid in the US. Honda is very tight lipped and if they do, I will buy it. If they don’t I will get the 2018.
Thxs a lot for your video I just bought my 2018 CRV Touring at Mainline Honda, PA and I’m amazed what a great car is; I’m still familiarizing myself with all of its features and your post is being very helpful.Again thank you very much. For sure great car and I’m looking forward to stay with Honda forever.🤙
Great review. The blind spot monitoring feature is a great one but come to think of it, it will only fully work and be completely effective with its warning beeps if the driver uses their turn signal before making a lane change. The problem is that many drivers out there do not have the courtesy or safety sense to use their turn signals to show their intention.
I just bought a 2017 Honda CR-V Touring and I love it, thank you for your video, the way to deliver the info and very easy to understand feel more in love with the Vehicle I just bought everything you mentioned is also on my 2017 model.
Thanks for this review Smail Honda. This is by far the best review ever. So informative, have subscribed to your site and look forward to seeing more reviews. Thanks once again.
Another great video! My next car is definitely the CRV exl, or touring. After watching 2 of your videos I learned everything I need to know before I make my purchase. Thank you so much!
Kudos to Justin Thomson (I hope my ears picked up your name correctly !). I truly and totally appreciated your very professional presentation. Simply perfect, both content-wise and style-wise. Excellent delivery, spot-on information, surprising undocumented gems (Opening windows with the remote key fob ? Closing them with the hidden key? Not in the manual...). Very impressive, very informative, indeed. Thank you. Guy (Montréal, Quebec, CANADA)
First off...who are the 19 idiots who gave this incredible video a thumbs down! CRAZY! If I lived in PA, i would drive to you brother! EXTREMELY well done and spoken! EXCELLENT!
I just bought a CR-V EX in February. Love it. Wanted to say this is the most informative video on features I've seen to date. I had no idea about the white/green light and how the backup camera worked with as much detail as you provided here. Honda should hire you to do all their training videos. Kudos! My only small beef is no aux input jack, no CD player option - sign of the times. I bought a portable CD player and tried to find a bluetooth transmitter on Amazon that would pair with Honda's bluetooth with no luck after 3 different transmitters. Ended up using an FM transmitter which isn't great on sound quality. It's rare I need to play a CD as I converted all my CDs to FLAC files and stream them from my home Synology NAS to my iPhone using the Cloudbeats app. Also use CarPlay with Amazon Music Unlimited. Still if you're out and about like at a concert or club and buy a CD to listen to on the ride home, it'd be nice to have some sort of option. I wish there was a device that plugged into the USB data jack that provided an aux input. Whoever invents this will be a star IMHO. Everything else very, very happy with my white 2018 Honda CR-V EX.
I just bought a CR-V LX in February and I LOVE the hell out of it!! I purchased a iDisk from Amazon to Storage my music from cds. It took me four days to transfer all my cds to it, but it’s well worth it cause all I have to do is plug my iDiskk into the USB port, switch the mode to USB and it’s auto play 🤗.
Excellent review Justin! Just bought a 2018 crv exl w/navi over the weekend and love it! It's both beautiful and fun to drive. I've gotten so many compliments on it already.
Very thorough walk through of vehicle & features! Nicely done. I currently am going back & forth between the Honda CR-V Touring & the Ford Edge Titanium. Gotta get out & do some test driving!
Justin, GREAT REVIEW !!!! very informative. and professional... the CR-V is great for me, my wife has picked another vehicle, but she's happy so that's good... I will be in the position to buy later in the year... probably an EX-L, but maybe not the touring... thanks again.
Bought mine in July 2017. It is the best car I've ever owned by far. I would almost call it the perfect SUV. I have zero complaints but an impressed by list is a mile long.
Excellent job Justin. I hope I find a sales rep as informed and accurate as you. I am deciding between a CRV Touring AWD and an RLX Advance SHAWD as a second vehicle. I have an RLX Sport Hybrid SHAWD and need a vehicle for gear, kayak and large cargo. The CRV Touring AWD is a value difficult to pass up. The RDX is sportier / faster & nicer in some ways (and should be), but I do not think I need a premium CUV that is $14K more (as I wish equipped). And I find the CRV more masculine & truck looking. What I find amazing is the amount of tech that started in the RLX Sport Hybrid that has trickled down to the CRV (and most Honda models). Some features exceed what Acura offers. Now if you tell the 2019 Touring has a panoramic sunroof, a 360 view camera and cooled seats, I will fly up to PA and buy it from you Justin! When will the 2019 specs be released?
Excellent and very informative video. I just may buy a CRV, however I have a couple of questions/comments that hopefully you can answer. 1. I see that there is a linear tach but only a digital readout for speed. Why is there a tach for a CVT and not a circular speedometer? The instrumental panel is sort of bland. 2. I think that rear parking sensors are an option but there are no front bumper parking sensors??? 3. When you were looking at Apple Car Play you mentioned that one could access Google Maps. The screen showed a maps symbol but I believe that it is for Apple Maps, not accessing Google Maps. In my opinion Google Maps is far superior to Apple Maps. Thanks for the very thorough review of this CRV.
I'm presently driving a 2022 love it so much the drive is smooth the safety systems are helpful the gas efficiency is excellent to which is what i need this suv for i traded my 2016 Malibu for my crv the crv only has 14,000 miles on it now has 14,500 or so lol ill get my use with it but great video for the 5th generation
You correct the Britness problem easier, go to setting until you find screen touch sensitivity and change it to low sensitivity, I did and no more problems whatsoever.
Crv is indeednthenpresidentnof th compact suvs, but it needs to be impeached wndnreplaced by the the murano whi ways nearlynthe same at 2 tons, and despite being a mid sized, murano is just as long as the crv but with much morenhp at 260! And it still goes further on a tank of gas. Crv is also missing the surroundview cam, cooled seats and 20" wheels and it is more reliable than the turbo withnthe oil dilutionnproblem. Face it as far as looks the crv is waay behind the murano!
In future videos you might want to consider something that I experienced with my 2018 ex crv.. I've never owned a vehicle like this with all the bells and whistles. I didn't understand or know about the vehicle actually telling me in terms of percentage of how much oil life I had.. so I could see it going down by increments of 10% each time ( 90,80,70,etc). But what happens when the wrench light comes on at 20%??? Does this mean oil change immediately?? Also I assumed when it was at 20% the next would 10% then 0%... I had no idea how long I had before it was at 0%. And did 0% mean the car just shuts down.. how much time did I have between 20% and 10%??? I had a lot of questions and no one to really answer them. What I found out is first off when it's 20% the next step it 15%. I never went beyond 15% but it's good to know it doesn't just drop so quickly... I actually bought my vehicle 2 1/2 hours away from my home... there are no close Honda dealers around-- the closest is about 1 hour or so away. So I knew the oil change was going to be time consuming for me- an hour to the place, another hour home and a hour at the dealership. In addition to this-I was completely shocked at the oil change price! I'd no idea. Plus no idea that there is a separate charge for tire rotation and this is at every HONDA dealership! I've never heard of that because where I live that is just part of the oil change with other oil change places....Another issue I had is , I called several HONDA dealerships to get the best oil change price and tire rotation price and found one HONDA dealership from the next are huge differences --where as I thought they would kinda be the same... I had one say the oil change alone was 79.00 for a oil change only and another 29.99 for tire rotation- to the cheapest I found was 60.00 for all. When you're on a fixed income that is a big difference. Another place says that when the wrench light comes on at 20% - is a indication that you need the oil changed, yet another Honda dealership said that by time the wrench comes on at 20% it's almost too late!! One HONDA dealership said let it go down to 5%, the other said 20% is almost too late. Which is it??? So for a single female who is not mechanically inclined, living on a fixed income, these are complications and I had no one I knew I could turn to, when I called several HONDA dealerships I got several different answers-- still leaves me confused.
Hi Brenda, thanks for checking out our video. We are always looking for ways to make these videos more insightful for our viewers, so we appreciate your input. For your situation, our recommendation is to consult your owners manual. It will give you very specific information on when to change the oil depending on how many miles you've put on your vehicle and is more consistent than recommendations from shops/dealers
Do you have any comments regarding the gas / oil problem with the I4 turbo that caused the Chinese recall / sales ban? It's also being reported in Canada and disproportionate engine problem complaints are being recorded with the American NHTSA. It seems it mostly affects customers in the northern climates. I ask because I was going to buy a 2018 EXL and now am reticent to do that until the problem is reliably corrected - especially living in Buffalo! Thoughts?

I have a 2018 CRV EX-L. Great except for intermittent dash rattles going over bumps, particularly raised pavement. Warmer temps expand the dash and the rattle disappears only to return in cooler temps. Replacing heater clamp does not solve the issue. There are numerous complaints online about the same issue. Has anyone found an answer (don't say take it to the dealer-no luck with that so far)? Rattling is most annoying in a new car.
Mike. I am from Australia and we dont get all the same things as the US unfortunately. Have just traded in my 2015 Series 2 CRV Vti-L and after looking and comparing lots of other brands have ordered 2018 CRV VTI-LX. Took it for a test drive clocking up approx. 80km and am thrilled at my choice. You can download the brochure online from Honda Aust site and that will give details of what comes in the Aus models. Good luck.
I'm considering this vehicle, and have a question about the lane keep feature (vibrates and steers you back into the lane). Is there any way to turn that off? We get a lot of construction where the lines for the lanes aren't moved/removed in order to follow different traffic patterns. The last thing I need is for my dumb car to have me to keep going straight when I have to deal with a different traffic pattern.
Yes, you can turn the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) on or off with your instrument controls. Press the MAIN button on the right side of the steering wheel. "LKAS" appears on the driver information interface (DII) digital screen right behind the steering wheel. Press the LKAS Button. Outlines of road lane lines will appear on the DII. Dotted lane lines turn solid when the system starts operating. Press the MAIN or LKAS button again to turn the system off. (THANKS FOR WATCHING!)
I just bought a use 2018 CR-V Touring. I noticed i couldn't open the trunk by using the foot. Is it an option to add in the Touring? Or is it standard?
I just bought a used 2018 CR-V Touring last week 5/2021. I was wondering the same thing. I love the vehicle but, I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to beep when I'm outside my lane and when somebody is passing me!
@@harleyjules8828 I finally found the setting to open the trunk with the foot. Not easy and it makes you look funny when you try and it doesn't respond right the way hahaha. So I simply use the key to remotely open the trunk. Save time and embarrassment.
@@zogadwoe Thanks, that's what I decided to do. It's easier to just push the button and I'd probably lose my balance and fall on my butt and break my tailbone trying to do it. LOL!!!!

What a detailed review! One of the best reviews on CR-V.

Wish he sold me my CR-V. Great video. I bought a 2018 Touring 2 weeks ago. Great salesperson, nice dealership, nothing close to him.

Excellent informative video, I just purchased the 2018 White pearl diamond Cr-V touring, love it. We are Honda loyal. Own the Ridgeline as well.
excellent and informed presentation, a complex car very well explained. Example of best practice

Hankook budget tyres! Whatever next in cost-cutting?
I Love this car I hope one day I get
We hope you do too!
does 2017 crv honda have same feature as 2018 like you show us about window closing from just insterting keys
Thoughts?

Do they still have 2017 and 2018 new crv
Do you know how to activate the panic alarm via remote?
Can you send it overseas?

Been thinking of getting the touring model next month what do you guys think of this vehicle
Richard Rykowsky wait for the 2020 model if you can
Why is this touring dont have the moon roof?
Awesome

Does the crv exl have adaptive cruise control that allows you to go to 0 miles an hour?
Just got the 2019 exl. Can give a review on this?
Yes, we did, check it out! ua-cam.com/video/GlY5mhCngUk/v-deo.html
Does it have a quiet engine
Do the outside windows fold in when parked?
Does this use android auto?
The brazilian version have electric folding of the mirrors and head-up display. I don't see in the american CR-V
Has the oil gas issue been resolved at this time in November, or better to wait for the 2019 ?
Great review.
Thanks for that. Sorry I can't visit Smail, being in Australia, but do you know if we overseas get the same features you have outlined?

What’s the other name for this type of crv? I’m heading to the dealer now but doesn’t to find any crv touring from their lists
What is the difference with honda's real time AWD wnd regular AWD?
Any updates for the 2019 model?
does the window trick work with the ex model or just the touring?
Yes it does, Dina! It actually comes standard on LX and above models.
Please how can I change from mile per hour to kilometres per hour
Nice car
What about a crv diesel 5 seaters for parking comfort.
How tall are you
About 6'
Is it true only diesel crv model come with Push Button Shift?

I'm considering this vehicle, and have a question about the lane keep feature (vibrates and steers you back into the lane). Is there any way to turn that off?
LOL!!!!
Can I shift from D to S while driving?
Judy Butters S on a CVT. Nice joke lol
