- Ride1up core5 with aftermarket controller for double the power. Bypasses internal controller so there are no limitations on speed and throttle alone brings you to 30+mph.
Reg! 'Hawaii Ebikes' is a great name for your business! Good job upgrading the Ride 1Up. Keep up the good work, buddy, and If I EVER get my new e-bike, I will send a pic!
Aloha keep up the sweet builds!
Awesome DIY upgrade!
Excellent 💡
Great video. Now how do we install a second battery maybe in a rear rack. 🤟
Very nice work love your video
Thank you!!!
Sick video!! I was wondering if you happen to know how to unlock the top speed on a kd58c display, so that I can go 28 mph plus on throttle only? I have a 2024 Sole E (24).
I have watched every UA-cam video related to the kd58c display, and Reddit, and I can’t find anything. Thanks
I’m not sure if you can without an external controller because the speed sensor connects through the motor to the controller which limits your throttle only speed.
@@hawaiiebikes707 Shoot, that’s a bummer, but thank you for the info 👍
I would like to purchase this controller upgrade for my ride1up! How can I do that?
Send me an email and we can talk about how exactly to do it and pricing. Thank you!

How do I install it and buy it ?
This is a great hack thank you. One question though, does the new 1500w controller increase PAS top speed as well? If so how fast it top speed in PAS mode?
Doesn’t work with pas and has a separate throttle. It just plugs into the stock motor and pulls power from the stock battery. Making pas work would require a much more invasive upgrade
Mahalo though!!
@@hawaiiebikes707 thank you!
im new to ebikes so this is a bit confusing for me lets say the core 5 controller was 1000w. now its 1500w. but the motor is still the same 500w or 750W?
so the controller is able to push out more power to the same motor, and get better faster results?
Hi yes. The motor is is by a company called shengyi and it’s “rated” for 500 watts. Motor rating is really a sill concept. In general what hurts a motor is heat and mechanical limitations within a given system. So you can always send higher levels of power into a motor. The key is heat management and not pushing a motor to the point where you reach mechanical limitations like the strength of the nylon gears or the max rpms that the bearing can tolerate for example. The Ride1up core 5 motor is rated for 500 watts on the shengyi website but Ride1up I believe peaked at 840 watts stock from what I remember. Another popular example is radpower bikes using a 500 watt bafang motor and calling it 750 watts. You can always send more amps for volts into a motor the trick is finding the limitations. The motor gets hot when I sent 1500 watts into it but before I sold it I made sure to explain to the buyer to just check on the heat of the motor and take a break from full blast when it gets hot. Cheers!
Im trying to find a replacement controller for my core5. Do you have any suggestions? My current one seems to have burnt something inside. A lot of the controllers I find on amazon and ebay have totally different connections, and it would be better to find a cheap one that has the same connections considering the stock controller is nobranded
Ride1up replaced mine at no cost. The controller they sell is pretty cheap as well.
@@TheAbsolutShame I replaced mine under warranty. That's the one thing I liked about ride1up. But the build quality is average
Any experience adding a third party battery to up the range?
I have not but if you open up the compartment where the controller is you can access the power xt60 cable and make your own external outlet for a 3rd party battery
That is pretty cool. Got anything to upgrade the range on the belt drive single speed geared roadster v2 by ride 1 up? Thanks in advance.
I don’t. Keep in mind there’s only so much power a motor can take. This motor is made by shengyi motors and it got pretty hot at these power levels so I had to monitor heat and I weigh 185lbs. It’s a lot of fun though. The belt drive v2 has a smaller lower rated motor which I’m sure could handle double the power for a short period but I wouldn’t go too high on upgrading with that motor
Hi where can I buy that controller for my core 5?
I wired it myself. If you’re interested I can look into selling them on eBay. Does $115 sound like a reasonable price? I never decided to sell these controllers because the parts add up in cost and then it’s hard to make wiring it myself worth the time. 115 would make me 50 bucks each upgrade kit. Let me know if that sounds reasonable because I know rad power upgrade kits go for 200+
Where did u buy the box
The controller I had to wire myself and I run off the stock battery with a parallel output plug from the bottom of the bike where the other wires come out to power the aftermarket controller. If you’re interested I can mail you one so it’s plug and play. Email at hawaiiebikes@gmail.com
also it's not a step threw model
Damn foo you should be and engineer and shit
i can get up to 47mph stock
Not true LOL
Flip flops of certain road rash.
