Ride1up core5 with aftermarket controller for double the power. Bypasses internal controller so there are no limitations on speed and throttle alone brings you to 30 mph.
Review of How I Upgraded My Juiced Scrambler Ebike to 2400 watts. New Bafang 1000. Super 73 killer.

Juiced camp scrambler completely overhauled with a new bafang GO62 1000 watt internally geared hub motor and new upgraded controller for a peak of 1700 watts on a 52 volt battery and 2400 watts on 72 volts. Max speed is 30-36mph depending on voltage.
New Bafang GO62 1000 watt hub motor fat tires w/ 1500 watt controller and powered by Ego battery

I haven’t seen anyone do a review of bafang’s newest motor so I thought I would share my build. Excellent hub motor for the money and can handle a lot of power. Incredible torque. This build is running off 1500 watts but I’ve had it at 3000 watts and it runs great. A huge difference from the older bafang GO60 750 watt motor. I have it powered off an EGO battery and it hits 31mph. Built off nakt...
Re-gen braking?
@@michaelsparrow8033 unfortunately that would mean your pedals would spin too
Huh? Can't hear you
Thats a huge bmx 😂
Can’t here a dam thing your saying
Can you please show me where to get everything
Look fast
Sick video!! I was wondering if you happen to know how to unlock the top speed on a kd58c display, so that I can go 28 mph plus on throttle only? I have a 2024 Sole E (24). I have watched every UA-cam video related to the kd58c display, and Reddit, and I can’t find anything. Thanks
I’m not sure if you can without an external controller because the speed sensor connects through the motor to the controller which limits your throttle only speed.
@@hawaiiebikes707 Shoot, that’s a bummer, but thank you for the info 👍
Could you use a higher ah battery with lower voltage (to save in cost) and then use a step up voltage regulator in between the battery and controller to get the desired voltage? That way, wouldn't you get more distance with the desired power for a similar price? Possibly cheaper
Generally you cannot draw that much current from step up converters and that’s also inefficient. Better to just go with a higher voltage pack to begin with. This build was mostly for a really good power to weight ratio and only good for short fast trips
I have a sand viper, electric bike with a 500 watt rim on it. My battery is no good. Can I make a conversion like this for it?
Sure you just need to find a controller that can run on 60 volts then wire it up. Lots of videos online on how to do that. Then just get a 60 volt dewalt power tool adapter on eBay 🤙 Just be careful. The motor I used was rated at 1000 watts and I’m running a controller that’s double that. If you put the same controller on a “500” watt motor you’re more likely to break something. Go with something around your rated wattage to be safe
Apparently that "mini cyclone mid drive motor" has disappeared from the market. Anybody know of AVAILABLE alternatives to Bafang? Thanks.
You could checkout CYC and toseven mid drives
The Dewalt 60v Flexvolt battery will only push out 3 amp-hours which probably will only give you 5-6 miles on a charge. Good for short runs around the neighborhood. Cyclone controllers have internal electronics rated for a max voltage of 80 Volts. Lots of battery choices. Ego 56v, Echo 56v, Greenworks 60v and 80v, just to name a few.
Thanks, that's what I'm looking for. I want to use (legitimate) namebrand batteries, for whatever motor.
Beautiful job break it down as well as plans and parts list thank you well done brother.
@@melrichardson2392 hi sorry I wish I could have done that. I sold the bike right after the video. Mini cyclone is nice but I would go with cyc because it’s more efficient and not as loud and easier to install.
Man this is all I need. How much it cost
Ali express has the MXUS xf19r motor, you’ll need a torque arm, 60 volt 1500 watt controller, and look for a dewalt 60 volt battery adapter. Minus the battery maybe 400 for parts
How many miles do you get with a 6 ah battery? Or is that a 9ah?
How did you do that bro
Im pretty sure its risky to throttle the motor unloaded if you have field weakening enabled. Ive heard it might kill something like your controller when you let go of the throttle
That might be why my mosfets fried
Isaiah from wikes you still have your phase runner?
@@brokebroke5950 I do not. I blew the mosfets when I tested it with a mini cyclone motor. It's weird because a friend of mine had the same issue where he blew 3 phaserunners on a cyclone motor. I've since switched to using VESC controllers by 3Shul and I am very impressed.
Do you have link?
@@brokebroke5950 Who
I want one
How do you run 72 volt on a 52 volt battery
Added lipo in series at first but then I switched to running an 80 volt kobalt battery
I love this build!!!! I’ve been looking to do something just like this. Can you post a parts list/links to what you used? I would like to do one as close to your spec as possible!!!! Mahalo
@@erikrummel6277 hi I’m sorry I’m responding late here. A lot of people asked me about doing a parts list. I would say that bafang and cyc are better platforms. They are easier to install and not as loud. The mini cyclone is not efficient and is so loud! You can also get great performance out of bafang with higher voltage aftermarket controllers and parts are more easily available
Hey you said you ran it on 72v battery ? And you got 36mph? What’s top speed on stock battery ? 52v
I build a lot of bikes and this was a awhile ago but I think stock it wouldn’t go past 28-30mph. I never keep e-bikes stock long and I believe this was one where throttle alone was limited to 20 and you had to peddle with it for it to allow you to hit 28
I have the same motor, I like it, but I was expecting a little more.
Running 72 volts on the go62 is where the fun is
@@hawaiiebikes707 lol, that's where I'm going wrong! It feels like it's governed. It's the Amazon kit with the 30amp controller.
@@bassw1758 I need to make a UA-cam video on how to make an aftermarket controller for that motor. It has so much potential and a larger stator so it can handle a lot more current. I’ve put 3500 watts into it 😁
What type of range do you get with 3amp on that battery?
Horrible range 😂 maybe 5-6 miles on throttle only. It’s not an efficient motor but it has great torque.
@@hawaiiebikes707 , some of us commute less than that every day to work. It's a perfect build for inner city commute.
@@bzmrgonz yep, an eGo excels at short trips look for UA-cam videos of a Tesla stomping hotrods... :)
Use RC LiPo, I used Zippy 20C LiPo before on my old Ebike builds, It was pulling around 5 Kw. Only possible with LiPo with a small battery. They never really got out of balance so I purchased a Bulk charger to finish charging at 66.4 volts if I remember correctly, that would be 4.15 v per cell for a 16S battery. I never ran them down below 3.5v per cell which really helped with the balance. Occasionally then I would hook up to my RC balance charger. I never used a BMS, it's not necessary when you know what you're doing but I always charged the battery in a fire proof location with a smoke alarm, I never had any issue. Use 30 amp anderson connectors for connecting the batteries together in series and parallel and if you make a mistake the andersons blow up and act like a fuse 🙂 The higher voltage makes a real difference. Around 5 Kw through a direct drive hub and around 3.5 Kw through my old MAC 8T motor, that was a blast! Is this GO60 a 6T 8T wind ?
Damn foo you should be and engineer and shit
The L1019 plug is all I need to know.
That's awesome! Don't fly off the roof.
Mahalo!
Can you just swap the guts of the G060 motor for the guts of the G062 motor while leaving the controller stock?
Swapping only works with the 500 and 750 watt bafang motors. The go62 has overall larger dimensions. ebikes.ca/blog/post/g62-1000w-fatbike-motors.html
Cool use of powertool battery
This is a great hack thank you. One question though, does the new 1500w controller increase PAS top speed as well? If so how fast it top speed in PAS mode?
Doesn’t work with pas and has a separate throttle. It just plugs into the stock motor and pulls power from the stock battery. Making pas work would require a much more invasive upgrade
Mahalo though!!
@@hawaiiebikes707 thank you!
Im trying to find a replacement controller for my core5. Do you have any suggestions? My current one seems to have burnt something inside. A lot of the controllers I find on amazon and ebay have totally different connections, and it would be better to find a cheap one that has the same connections considering the stock controller is nobranded
Ride1up replaced mine at no cost. The controller they sell is pretty cheap as well.
@@TheAbsolutShame I replaced mine under warranty. That's the one thing I liked about ride1up. But the build quality is average
i can get up to 47mph stock
Not true LOL
You guys on kapahulu right. If I bought BMX can you do conversion?
I’m in salt lake. Can if you buy the motor. Ali Express MXUS xf19r 1000 watt motor. No need controller they only give you low power ones. Your bike has to fit 135mm-140mm rear dropout and you need torque arms.

@@חנוךעפיפון-ס2ו I don’t have a shop. I can’t build you bike unfortunately I can only upgrade an existing bike. If you buy the motor and install it I can provide an upgrade controller.
What about up hill ??
Really good power. Hills make no difference with me at 185lbs
I have the same one with 52v has alot of low end, but only 29mph top speed, I'm wondering if it's the display.
Might be. Also depends on wheel size though.
@@hawaiiebikes707 if you lift the rear wheel it only goes up to 32.5 mph, but I've seen 750s hit 37mph. It's the 500c display, but it's got good power. It's on more of a trail bike so 29 is good but feels like it has more on the top end to give.
Hi my bafang hub motor is 9 speed cassette and my bike is 7 speed cassette now I don't know what to do can you please tell me

@@hawaiiebikes707 Most excellent! Yes I am all for it! Your e mail?
@@paulawestcott7228 hawaiiebikes@gmail.com I have a lot of 72 volt controllers right now
it's all about gear ratio with mid drive systems. I've had mid drive ebikes pulling Wheelies from the start with just 350W motor. And that was a small hoverboard hub motor converted into mid drive. I've built powerful e-bikes using powerful motors. So I know the difference.
That battery isn’t putting out 42 amps at 60v.
I know that this pack had 21700 cells that are capable of putting that power out. For example the Samsung 40T cell puts out 35 amps continuously and 45amp bursts. The 9ah pack is really 3ah at 60 volts though so I know it’s not the 40T because that’s 4Ah but 21700 cells can discharge over 30amps and will discharge 40 for bursts. I never fully opened the pack but I’m now using the kobalt “high output” packs and they use the Samsung 40T and it does discharge 40 amps. Im guessing it’s the Samsung 30T cell in the 9ah dewalt pack
@@hawaiiebikes707i use 40t cells because i buy them on sale and they are the best for the price. Ive built 20s5p, and 20s7p and am working on a 20s12p. The 5p is 20ah and takes me 20 miles full throttle 50mph. 40 miles mixed riding. 60 miles taking it easy.

Great build. I am need of a smallcontroller for Cyclone 3000W motor. Don't want to buy a cyclone controller their website is confusing me. Ibike uses 52V battery.
How many miles can you go on a full charge
I was using the 3AH pack and it had a range of about 4 miles on electric alone but it was also drawing 2-2400 watts. Dewalt has a 4AH pack that would be slightly better
