I have this recorder with all the filters and it is great! I use this recorder mainly to film on the street or in events.
Its a great and versatile piece of equipment
Bought this for my qualitative research work when I was in graduate school years ago. Still using it now for my postgraduate research work. The only thing I added since is the Comica Vimo Q to help my H1n handle multiple interviewees better. Feels very plasticky and fragile, but to its credit, it is still holding up well several years on! Highly tempted to get the H4e... but to be honest, I don't actually need anything more than this H1n.

Hi. I don't get why you say "it sounds great" when you're using an external mic. In any case, the external mic is what sounds great. I'm curious: Why don't you record with just the zoom?
In the video Im using the zoom, I normally record with my blue yeti and that's cause it way less of a hassle for me to record and edit the video because everything is already plug in, set up, and all documents are local. I think where the zoom really shines is the fact that it can go mobile but it takes a couple of time to get things right like clap syncs and such. then imagine you get home and none of your audio matches up with your video.

no, I had one come with the Lavalier mic and noticed the quality was a little different so i just leave it on their but its not needed.
i need something to know about it... it will be great if you compair this with tascam dr-05x. dose it prvide external mic power like the dr-05x? whice one is better? could you please explain? and what about the self noise.? please answer.
im not sure what you mean by if it can provide external power however i did check and you can use the zoom with no batteries and just the charger if that is what you are referring to. For my gain i don't entirely remember what the levels where at but if i had to guess maybe 6-6.5
Also i looked into the dr-05x looks very similar to the zoom but the price point is a tad bit higher ill go check it out maybe in the next review.☺

what sd card do you recommend for the h1n ? what capacity is the minimum ?
i dont think that there's a minimum capacity I just use an 8gb chip
I think it takes a maximum 32gb card.

Is the device itself a microphone or is it just a recorder for an external mic?
No, it's a microphone as well as a recorder. You can preview the audio with the inbuilt speaker but I suggest just using plain old headphones☺
