Batteries are better option than built-in accu imho. If your batteries run out (or you forget to charge the device), you can quite easily buy new batteries almost everywhere, including gas stations or grocery stores. But AA batteries would be better than AAA.
I have the previous generation that runs off one AA battery and wanted to upgrade but the AAA batteries were a deal breaker. Still use the old one often for events for ambient audio, have a lav mic for interviews, It can be used for so many things. The battery life is great. Cheaply built but still works after all these years. Now a days there are things that weren't around that do specific things better like the Zoom f2 that's designed for lav mics and then there are bluetooth devices like the Go.
True, there are certainly better devices. But I thought as a beginner, it's better to get something tried and true by many to ensure the best quality for the price 🙂
@@TheHopelessGeek I was pointing out there are so many choices now a days. Never had a quality issue with the H1. Mic placement, room acoustics, and other factors usually matter more. Hard to beat the value for money of this recorder. Small, versatile and easy to use.
lol! You too eh? I have a Zoom h1n and the battery panel hinge is broken (attached with a rubber band) but still works well. But seriously all my batteries use AA and I don't want to have AAA just to accommodate this for my kit.
Fix for rattling noise: take a foam earbud fluffy cover, cut a very thin strip and insert it along the top or bottom of the volume rocker. Poke it in with a thin sharp blade. It will stay nicely in the cavity and totally cure the rattle. You'll need to do the same with the trash/delete button. These are the only buttons that have the rattle and this solution is so good it might have been something they did in the factory. Black coloured foam will not be visible, or it will look factory made on a white edition. Very smart looking and feeling too.
I just bought a Zoom M2 mic / recorder which uses 32 bit float - and the price was around that of the H1N. Worth checking out local pricing. 32 bit float means never having to set levels again!
Well, it's not raw footage from the phone. There's some color grading too, but yeah it looks pretty good 🙂 I'm currently using the Honor Magic4 Pro which they gave me.
I use the Honor Magic4 Pro, but that's not as important as other things I do.🙂 I've talked about some of those videography methods here ua-cam.com/video/gLOPC6ClScM/v-deo.html
For some strange reason, I didn't find it on their website. I've planned to compare them for a long time. Maybe it's only available on select regions? Not sure yet.

Can you advise how to record a digital piano using zoom h1n using an Android mobile phone (& a DSLR if possible). Also please do mention which cables we would require for both recording options. Thanks.
To record audio directly to your phone, you need a USB connection from the microusb port of the H1n to the USB of your phone. You will likely need an adaptor to make sure both of these connect over various ports. You can use a cable like this: amzn.to/3Qlg7aC As soon as you plug it in, the H1n will show the interface selection screen. Select the first one, called *Audio Interface* It then asks to choose between *PC* or *iPhone* . I've found that selecting the PC option works with phones and other devices too. It then gives a choice to use *Bus power* (draw power from the connected phone) or *battery power* . You can choose as you prefer. I suggest Bus power. For a digital camera (DSLR or mirrorless), it's much simpler. You just need to connect the *headphone out* port of the H1n to your camera's mic input. Please make sure to use a "TRS" style stereo cable, like this one: amzn.to/461538f And that's all! Your H1n will now act as an external mic to record high quality audio straight to the recording device. I hope this helped 🙂
I just subscribed to your channel. Am into city walk and I really need audio recorder that can help capture ambient sounds and give better studio quality to make the viewer feel like as if they are there with me live . For example some movies might not be too interesting but the audio quality, the sound can keep people watching. I really need your recommendation because am almost about to get the zoom h1n before I found your channel.
You can do that with any stereo mic, like even your smartphone! But if you can invest into a dedicated device, then yes, I can recommend the H1n. The battery drains a little faster than I expected, but the 24-bit 48KHz audio is excellent 👌🏼

hey there another possible video idea is audio editing like i have a decent condenser mic and i make sure i follow all the rules that people recommend like be as close to mic as possible , have acoustic materials on walls and other places to reduce echo, leave 5 sec silence for capturing background noise etc but still by audio is not perfect , like its audible and clear but not professional (i use audacity) so yeah a quick walkthrough of your editing process would be appreciated

Yes, be default, it records in stereo mode, so it will record omni-directional sounds. To get better isolation, I recommend getting an affordable shotgun mic and connect it to this via the aux-in port.

I haven't used the saramonic one, but rumour has it, a new version of this H1n is coming out with 32bit support! That'll be so much more than the present 24 but 96 KHz limit. 🙂
The build quality is not reasonable for the price (atleast for us Indians). At least the H1N has the micro USB. You could use old smartphone's data cable (if you had any) unlike zoom H1 which uses Mini B port. I recommend camel acrylic box or lenskart zipper spectacle box for safe keeping.
