Wisconsin and Minnesota morrels grow by fallen elm trees I look for deer scat deer love morrels as well and I noticed you put them in a brown paper bag,my mom taught me to bring a bag that oranges come in they have itty bitty holes in them and you shake the bag gently releasing spores for next year's shake ,the bag by where you picked them....
I wish you luck from Ottawa County Michigan. Plz do me the same. So far it seems to be shaping up for a good season. But, it’s a delicate balance of water, temps and the right trees. #MushroomFantasies2024
In NW Wisconsin we try to find dead elm trees but unfortunately, most elm trees have been dead and gone for a long time due to Dutch elm disease. I have had the most luck around ash trees for morels. Ash are very easy trees to find and fairly abundant around here.
That's incredible! Wish I coulda been there with you and find that many. Morels are so much sought after, I know some of the viewers are envious, ....like me!
All I can say is it must be nice! I'm in north west Missouri! And I see all these other people finding a ton of them! , Not me! Lol I just can't seem to find the. In this area! I moved here from about an hour south South east! Not matter the kind of tree or whatever! But I also need to say I've had to hunt on mostly public land rather than private land I was used to! So this weekend I'm getting on the boat to get down the river a ways to where it seems so remote to where no one else has been so far!! But anyways good job to the author of this video! And good luck to anyone else that's looking or coming up short this season like I am!
I wish we had this kind of sycamore patches here but morels if you find 5-10 in a patch you happy in Ontario 😢.that was a great haul my man loved watching it 🎉
Been watching a lot of videos and most go crazy over slippery elms and tulips. These vids are from all over US. So in Missouri is the sycamore tree what I should be looking for?
Sycamore trees definitely offer some good picking, generally! But really any dead rotting tree can be excellent. Ash trees are usually great too. Thanks for watching!
I live in Missouri and I looked in low bottom creeks that were loaded with Sycamore trees and never found a single mushroom. We're you on top of a ridge or it doesn't matter? We're the Sycamore trees dying?
@@midwesttraditions4375 we're at the end of ours. I used to hunt myself until I got Lymes disease, pacemaker now, AFIB. It sucks. Used to get blackberries too!! Oh well...
One the best patches I’ve ever found was in a sycamore grove that washed out in 2019 I found close to 300 big ones but it hasn’t produced any the past couple years just a couple here and there. I can’t wait here in Va. I have an early spot that normally starts popping around march 17 but my other spots start around the first week of April. Hopefully it’s like it was in 2019 flooding and humid conditions the last week of April. We were getting 4 to 8 inches a week. I never thought I would find 500 but new flushes kept popping up well over a 100 lbs found that year. However last year I only found around 60 morels. Just hope this years better than last year. An amazing 7 weeks of finding morels in the same area.
That's awesome! It too have a few spots that flooded out and quit producing. Thanks for checking out the channel! I hope to add more morel videos in the coming weeks.
Dang it, Man! I know someone that is having the same experience. I think I'd still have to hunt for them and give them away if I was in your boat. It's a passion!
@@midwesttraditions4375 For sure. It’s so addicting once you find one. However I’m fortunate to even find a dozen of them because we don’t have that many where I live. But once in a while I can find enough for a meal.
Any hardwood!!! Anywhere in the u.s should produce if the moisture content is right! 2024 was a horrible year in the PNW due to no winter & very dry conditions!
@midwesttraditions4375 ya, just not a good year for spring mushrooms. That's why I switched to shed antler hunting. It's been a great year & early too, when nobody expected it! I got on some giant sheds early!

Thanks for watching! I usually use a mesh bag, but forgot it at home!
Nice! There's a lot of debate on the benefits of mesh bags. Use your preference. Thanks for watching!
Ya got me in the mood now gona go check my spots this evening thanks for taking us along
Thanks for watching!
Nothing yet but I'm keeping my eye on em getting rain today so won't be long
Ready in Michigan! Sure hope it’s a banner year! Fingers crossed! Wish me Luck Good Buddy! Thanks
Good luck! I hope you make piles!

Washtenaw County,getting lot last weekend.
@@Bubba-wx7lp I'm always jealous, down here in Missouri, when our season is wrapping up and y'all are just kicking off!
I believe so...The weather looks to be shaping up for a banner year....48 to 52 lows and lower to mid 70s day time highs.😉😀

That's really unfortunate! Thanks for watching!
Cool. We used to do this every spring. We called them "leprechaun peckers".
Lol!
Hahahahahah!
I've heard them called Land Fish too. Don't know why. They taste nothing like fish. 😅
I'm in NE Indiana and eagerly awaiting the first signs. Happy hunting, folks.
Found two on April 25th in Lincoln County, MO. Dried up. Usually find a couple grocery bags full but not this year. Need rain bad
It has been extremely dry this season!
Nice. Crappie fishing shed and morel hunting. Live your life to the fullest. Great trip

Thank you so much! I'll trade you, for the walleye fishing y'all have up that way 😉
Hahahaha I bet you would 😂
Nice haul!
Thanks! It was a sweet hunt!
How many hours were you out that day? Thank you for a good video. I will look for sycamore groves!
That was about a 3 hour walk I believe! Good luck! Don't give up if they're not in the first grove you explore. Keep going!
Awesome video 👍
Thanks!
I'm headed to Truman lake for crappie fishing tomo Is it worth worth looking around the lake and those trees
Absolutely! Things are slowing down, but I picked a bag full again today! Good luck!
@@midwesttraditions4375 I'm coming from Iowa... So everyones patiently waiting up here
Thank You
Thanks for watching!
You are correct about sycamores being a consistent tree for morel’s plus there easy to spot
They are definitely productive!

Thank you!
Good little haul! Can you say what state you’re in?
Absolutely! This was filmed in Missouri! Thanks for checking it out!
Down there the white trees with papery bark that grows in the low lands might be sycamore, up here that same description is birch.
They look very similar in appearance, but they're different trees. Thanks for watching!
Where are u located what state
Missouri!
never have ever heard sycamore for yellow mushrooms. Interesting
Thanks for watching!

Unfortunately not all Sycamore groves have morels. I feel like theres definitely a higher percentage in them though. I was on ridges.
allsome viedo
Thank you!
I just bought a couple of pounds, $40 a pound, some were 60 a pound, Minnesota, I won't pay that!!😮😂❤where are you located?😊
This video was filmed in Missouri! Our season is over down here, sadly!

@@krazykitty5750 sorry to hear that. Ticks can be nasty critters.
I like hunting sycamore but they are hard to spot
For sure!
Just Saturday morning I found around 6 pounds in a 300 foot area. I had to crawl for an hour to get them
Nice!!!!!!

That is absolutely on my list of to-do's! I hope to do a summer mushroom video this year, hunting for less common species!
With the price rising, everyone will be out in the woods this year looking
Yep.
What state are you in
Missouri!
I would be there until dark. Lol
It was sure fun!
You finding any?
Absolutely! Check out my 2024 videos from this season! We've had a great season, so far!
Looks to be a bumper crop for me this year.I found 83 and it's just starting.
Nice!
I pretty much only look around sycamore trees anymore. Id say 90% of the sycamore trees i come across ill find mushrooms.
They're very productive from my experiences as well!
It’s more 50% here in Virginia but a good majority poplar, sycamore’s and black walnut trees.
The secret to finding morels, is to look where they are!
That'd be a good start.
L😂
Any hardwood!!!
Anywhere in the u.s should produce if the moisture content is right! 2024 was a horrible year in the PNW due to no winter & very dry conditions!
You're correct! We've had a multiple year drought in Missouri. This has made morel hunting incredibly tough in the southern midwest.
