Good short brother. Please don't be offended but I wish ALL shroom videos would tell people to educate themselves before foraging for wild edibles. A couple people died last week eating RAW morels. I'm not criticizing you. I'm just a concerned old man watching youtube. Gotta say though. Those were some MONSTERS. Lucky Ducky for the Yummy. LOL
Amazing harvest. I can’t wait for edible mushrooms to start popping up here in Nova Scotia. This will be my first full season of mushroom foraging since I only started last fall. Hope I find my first morel.
Even the greatest mycologists on earth are not able to. Morels are essentially impossible to grow. Meanwhile oyster mushrooms and cubensis are easier to grow than most plants
You're breaking my heart I've always wanted to find some of those but I live out west. I think they're more difficult to find in the Rocky Mountains! I wish I could transport myself back east! ( just for a little bit) I would love to find those! Very nice! Thank you for sharing!
Ive found a honey hole like this a couple of years ago and believe me when I say my heart dropped lol i swear ive found the biggest mushrooms ive ever seen in that spot had the biggest haul ever in my life that day also
I sure miss hunting Morel Mushrooms in the woods up in IL. And IA. And MO. They are So Awesome to eat !!! But Unfortunately they Aren’t Found In Southern FL.
There are so many different species so it really depends on where you are cuz I found them underneath piss fur or Alpine fur but they can be found under so many different types of trees
where I'm from its Oak and I don't know why no one else find them under Oaks but I can enter a forest and find the biggest oak trees and find morels near them almost every spring.. I park in the same spot every year and come out with a bounty and they are nestled in an Oak forest of public land 😂❤
Pick them while you can you’re living in (the good old days) when them elms are gone, so are your mushrooms no matter if you have mesh bags or not otherwise it changes the forest canopy or something long story short less and less to pick cut or eat. But your info is dead one.
I lost a couple hunting spots this year.... conservation agent rolled up on me and said i was trespassing on a spot I've hunted since highschool. It's right down the road from a conservation area but apparently it's not part of it.... they just gave me a warning cuz i said i thought it was public land since it's right off the edge of a river and there's no signs or purple paint anywhere and I've never had anyone show up in like 15 years saying i was on their property.
Now explain all the ones ive found where there wasnt an elm tree in site. This is one of thise giys who thinks he has this gnostic knowledge...but in reality doesnt know shit.
Oh he knows alot of the outdoors . This is a man whom spends a tremendous amount of time in the outdoors. He hunts literally everything and has alot of knowledge . Being specific to trees isnt always the case though . I find them in several spots that are not near trees. He is just stating that the majority of them are found near dead decaying trees
They are very mysterious BUT your best bet is elm trees at least in the Midwest where they are plentiful. And the trees have a production life, usually once all the bark is off they’re about done.
He’s providing the same information about Morel mushrooms that’s are readily available on Google. You’re stating anecdotal evidence and for some strange reason using that as your motivation to not only be a bit insulting and condescending, but to try and discredit the very factual information he’s giving. What you’re saying would be like me coming across a video of someone describing the general or average height of men as 5’7 and I got upset because when I went outside and saw a bunch of men they were all over 6 feet! He didn’t state that it’s the ONLY place you can find them, he’s helping people know where they can look. This is very common knowledge about morel mushrooms. There are 4-5 kinds of trees that morels are most commonly found by. That doesn’t mean you can’t find them anywhere else, lol.
This guy doesnt know what hes doing obviously. Hes not cutting them off at the ground and hes not carrying them in a mesh bag. Its bad to carry them in a non mesh bag, also the plastic bag makes them turn to mush.
You must be new to the channel. He is using a mesh bag and also talks about those who believe plastic is bad practice. There's no right or wrong way to cut a mushroom. It would be worth your whole to see the main video in which this clip was taken from.
@thomasmcdonald5887 What? Hahahaha it's basically common shroomer knowledge to use a mesh bag. My great grandfather taught my pap then my dad who taught me. Them old guys know what they're talking about. You need to use a mesh bag to leave the spores, not only that, it will hold dirt that will get I to your mushrooms and it can also make them mushy.
@@ConservativeCE2 you people do realize the spores are blowing BEFORE you pick them right? It’s not like they wait for you to pick them to release spores. And you all put them in a mesh bag . I’ll put them in whatever I have handy like I’ve done for years . In the SAME areas over and over. Trying to be a know it all gets you no where .
More Morel videos coming soon!

Up north we find more close to ash trees but elms are a close second.
Good Stuff, I cant wait to check the woods where I live in Allentown NJ , Thanks for sharing
I’d love to get some morel spores and grow them myself. Thanks for the mycology tips!
Even the greatest mycologists on earth are not able to. Morels are essentially impossible to grow. Meanwhile oyster mushrooms and cubensis are easier to grow than most plants
Keep up the great work!!!!
I find them in south eastern ohio the last 2 weeks near dying elms and black cherry trees. Our season will be over at the end of this week
Another one another one another one most wisest words ever said

@@mwmalo all around the State !!! Look for wooden areas with hills !!! And oak and elm trees are the best places !!!
The best tasting mushrooms out there
Found them in Sweden, Pikes Peak Co, an island in Voyeguers Mn.
Morels are the best.
When was this and what state was this in?
There are so many different species so it really depends on where you are cuz I found them underneath piss fur or Alpine fur but they can be found under so many different types of trees
What state are you in?
Sycamore trees in my area and the ash trees that are dying just as yours. Sure there not ashes!😊 either way good find!!
I want to try these mushrooms
that's awesome
True.

They will be popping full force in two weeks or so.
Why aren't you using a mesh bag?
I am. Watch full video
I’m going to start looking for piss elms!!!
In Montana and the Mountain west you find these blonds around river bottoms with cottonwoods
When I find them all I smell is spice bush perhaps they have symbiotic relationship with those too
Year try those, they are supposed to taste delicious and one can find them in the forest or back yards 🤔 😊
Identification of elm trees please. 😊
Right here! ua-cam.com/video/oS_MevitKVU/v-deo.htmlsi=HYyiYcp79fLqrjRH. Be sure to look on our second channel Leatherwoodoutdoors2!
So many different tree barks look similar it kills me. I bounce free tree to tree and score maybe every 10 trees
In California we find them near old burn spots.
When can u eat them or can u?😊😊
Found them 🍎 orchard ferns pine edges, old growth hardwood, you just have to get out and do some walking.
Hunt high look low nice find
What I meant about hunt high is find the dead elms the tops won't have leaves
Red elm
I recommend using a mesh bag to promote spore release to help spread and propagate more morels in the future. Great find you got there.
I used a mesh bag. Search out the full video in which this clip was taken from.
👍👍
Forget the mushrooms, this dude is gorgeous
Ew . Weird
😂
Pleas also spread the word of how deadly morel mushrooms are to consume raw. 🙏🏽
Those are morels... You can tell by the way it is 😂 jk but nice honey hole find
Pick them while you can you’re living in (the good old days) when them elms are gone, so are your mushrooms no matter if you have mesh bags or not otherwise it changes the forest canopy or something long story short less and less to pick cut or eat. But your info is dead one.

It all depends on where you live
As tall as the tree...from. the tree
Sycamore and tulip poplar where I’m finding my good ones . No elm around anywhere. I’d tell folks look for mushrooms not trees
jack pot !
I’d suggest leaving several behind so they can drop spores vs taking them all
Jealous.
Now explain all the ones ive found where there wasnt an elm tree in site. This is one of thise giys who thinks he has this gnostic knowledge...but in reality doesnt know shit.
Why u mad lol everyone knows shrooms can pop up anywhere but your chances increase around dying elm trees
Looks like he knows enough to find a pile of morels. I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you more after your finished insulting him

Wrong , you’re the one that doesn’t know what you’re talking about. Plastic bag for years and giant ones in the same spots every year.

Secret? This is literally the most well known thing about morels. Even people who don’t hunt them know this.
Chill bro he’s just trying to spread info and get people in the woods, don’t have to boost your ego in a passive aggressive way😂
