Congrats Catman. About 30 yrs ago my brother and I weren't 100 yds from the car on a farm in West central WI. I went to check out a tree, he went to another. I filled a paper grocery bag of giant yellows from that one tree. He called me up the hill. When I got up there he said, Watch your step, they're everywhere. And they were. We filled 5 grocery bags, all we had. Went back to the car, dumped them in the trunk and continued. We came upon another spot where there were at least 100 and they were all toast. Found another 2 giant trees close to each other, filled all 5 bags again, but the last tree was thick picker bushes with nettles all around. Mushrooms everywhere under there. We were picking to sell. My hands and arms tingled for 2 days. Nettles don't really bother me anymore. Love your videos. Good Luck Turkey hunting.
I usually pick far gone and toss them as far as I can or put them in paper bag and bring to promising spots. In my experience, it takes couple years for them to show up, but at least half of them started producing. And you can do it to pretty much with any wild mushrooms😊
That was quite the haul brother 😊 We don't have any elms left here in New York State but I do find a few growing under some old apple trees Do you ever find them an old apple tree orchard
Wow, brings back memories of hunting them in NW Missouri, where I grew up. I didn’t care for eating them, but hunting, cleaning, and frying them was fun. I let my brother and my mom eat them all
@@dougroberts3643 yes sir. The only ones on my property i transplanted years ago have been up since late February. Northeast mountains have to be full right now.
Good Lord that was outstanding brother. I use plastic bags as well, usually one laying around when it’s time to jump in the woods. The only problem with those plastic bags in my situation is most of our property where the morels grow is mixed in with a million blackberry briars. Had my bag get sliced open on a few occasions.👍🇺🇸
@@auntchar101 I always say I’m going to do it then put it off, next thing you know I’m at the farm and the mushrooms are up and I’m no where near anything so out comes the darn plastic bag again. I’m gonna do it this year….. I think😂👍🇺🇸
Good Lawd!! Nice job! I found 140 yellows so far here in middle Georgia this year. Not nearly as large unfortunately. I’m going to check again tomorrow or the next day since we had a bunch of rain, but I’m thinking we are winding down around these parts. Congratulations on the awesome find.
How do you know if they are bad or good to pick? Also, heard people asking how you know what ELM TREE BARK LOOKS LIKE? WHAT KIND OF ELM ? I've never found 1, would be fun to at least once. Are you finding on damp hillsides, or does that matter? Also, any ground plants that might be associated with them? Thanks in advance!
I’ve been out 3 times this year and the most I’ve picked was about 10 last week on April 3rd. That was out by gordonsville TN. Is this in middle Tn or more east/west?
forget the mesh bag. if youre picking young fresh morels, the spore spread is negligible but theres a better reason not to....on a big haul, youll shred your morels up.
The mesh bag thing is a meth in my opinion I have never found morels on the paths I have taken for years. But I use a mesh bag bc I think they keep morels fresher and don’t get caught on thick brush and briars. My count is 305, NKY area we have about a week left, good picking catman!
Do Chantarelles taste any thing like morels where I live they is no Morels I don't know much about mushrooms but certain years my backyard an some of the woods around me are covered up with chantarelles but have never tried them I have never tried morels either I would like to have your opinion on them if you find the time to read this thanks
The sound of picking these sounded so satisfying in this video for some reason😂 nice haul. Our spot produced about 250 this year
Damn dude, you hit the motherlode... 2 sheds and a big ol' bag of yellows. Almost as good as taggin' a longbeard!

The older big ones to me have the best flavor,i would never leave them like that
That’s awesome. Congratulations on the honey hole not being all rotted out.
it's been a while since I found a honey hole like that at 73 I can't walk as far as I used to for morels.
And the sheds. Omg
That was quite the haul brother 😊 We don't have any elms left here in New York State but I do find a few growing under some old apple trees Do you ever find them an old apple tree orchard
Always awesome to find shed's anytime of the year 😂
Wow congrats!!! 🎉🎉🎉. Totally envious!

Nice bunch of mushrooms WOW. Haven't found anything yet here in northwest Ohio
Finding some in central wv. You’re probably within 5-10 days. Good hunting.

@@dougroberts3643 try searching Williams river and cranberry river areas. Lots of ramps, trout and beautiful mountains.
@@dougroberts3643 they’re great pickled too. You can eat them year round.

May I suggest going to a dollar store and getting a few mesh laundry bags. Happy hunting

I have only seen one tiny morel this year. Either there's just less in West TN or I just missed them all.
Jackpot! Thanks for the vid CM.

WOWZA.
Wow!!!!!! Hell ya lets go!!!!!
Whats your temps like? Whats your soil temp? Great spot.
Thats insane ive never seen it like that
what elevation? i am around 2000 and dont see any ..but its been raining this week.
If they was little the last time you went out there they should be really big this time it don't take long for them to grow big like that
I used to go hunting these things year after year and never found a single one.
How are you turkey hunting in TN when the season opens today on the 13th ?
Cat.... Can you show the difference between an elm tree and an oak since no leaves yet ? To me, the bark looks the same
Seriously tho. It’s such a pain in the ass trying to find these trees
Lol barks are totally different , get a tree book.
@@ChasinStuds yea... been thinking about it, but, at the end of the day, not totally sure I care that much
I live in west tn and haven't seen any here
well done
What the heck man?!?! You need to play the lottery.
Good eating, need to invite me lol
Jackpot! - So, what's the GPS on that spot? LOL
At what elevation do you typically find morels?
What’s the best way to dry them?
Omg 😮😮😮😮
Hickory chickens what we call them
it to late to get them in PEnnsylvania? i wanted to go tomorrow and this werek a few times, lmk and thx!
Shouldn't be. Just started finding yellows recently in Indiana and have found them all the way into early May

Show us what you use them for. Great content 👌

Do you think a wild hog would eat them too
Ya ya ya rub it in lol 😂biguns
