A bit about the cameras. They were set up for and by the company Vic Firth who I work for in Boston. We make the drum sticks Danny uses. The video is shot at TD Garden in Boston. Its purpose is marketing for the different series of sticks we sell for our UA-cam channel. I was the one who set up the forward camera for this video. Danny is a world class drummer and is a very nice man. We had our own suite at this show.
My brother is a lifelong drummer, and I am a 30+ year TOOL psychopath. I would do some crazy stuff to get a set of autographed Vic Firth Danny Cary sticks. ….just sayin
Best comment I’ve ever seen said: “legend has it that Danny made a deal with the devil. Nobody knows what Danny got but the devil got drum lessons”. 😆 Genius Its likeDanny was a drummer in a dozen past lives… all over the world. And we are blessed to be able to witness the culmination of all of those lives in the Danny of today. He has no equal. No one even close, in my opinion.
Yup, I still vividly remember my first Tool concert, back in 1997. I was completely sober, but I totally spaced out and basically forgot everything and everyone around me. It's a memory I'll never forget. I'll see them live again in May (Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam), for the 8th time, and as always I'll be spacing out again...
You know @@SaeedReacts., do yourself a favour and find a way to see them live. They're brilliant live, and though you will barely see Maynard, hidden somewhere in the shadows most of the time, you'll be busy taking in the awesome, trippy visuals anyway. They're touring Europe this May and June. They'll be at Graspop, but while still cool, it won't be the same as a regular gig.
this was done by Vic Firth, the maker of Danny's drum sticks and im not sure if any of this was shown during the concert. Im glad it was done because its a pleasure watching such a talented drummer.
I can imagine. They are coming close to where i live this year. Dont know if tickets are still available. Usually that festival is sold out pretty fast .
He is so good! That was also the day my computer died (the warning signs in the video lagging were there 😅) Maybe it had something to do with Daney's incredible drumming. Poor thing could not handle it.
Most people are impressed by the hard explosive fills and while it is impressive he finds his way back in the rhythm effortlessly, what is more astonishing to me is, in your video it is around the 8 minutes timestamp, each of his 4 limbs place a different time signature. Imagine and if you would like try to sit down your right hand rubs your belly in circles your left hand taps the top of your up down movements, your right leg swings back and forth and your left lack swings in circles. Now imagine every limb does his part in a different frequency than the others and now imagine hitting small targets that lay just outside the normal area of the movement at certain time with a certain force. That is exactly what he is doing there. And this guy is 60yrs of age
They definitely are unique to the individual. After numbing myself for years, for me personally its better to feel something good or bad than nothing. But again like you said, its subjective.
8:45 I hoped you'd checked Sober first as for Tool's live performance experience. That was the time Maynard sang at front of the band (which never happens again I suppose). Nowadays Maynard is keeping himself at the back. Anyway, great reaction :) (off - Tool is on the tour on spring in Europe)
"Pneuma" is a ancient Greek word for "breath" or "spirit". We have many English words that incorporate it - like pneumatic (drill) or pneumonia (infection of the lungs). The Bible also alludes to this idea in Genesis, when God breathed the "breath of life" into Adam. Lots of Tool songs are very spiritual. 46&2, Lateralus, Invincible to name a few.
Danny helped design that pad that makes all those “non traditional” drum kit sounds. He can play four different time signatures at once. It’s said if he didn’t have his shorts on he could play 5 😂…. Nice reaction… you will come away from the live Sober video with the same respect for Maynard that you came away from this one for Danny!!!! Enjoy 👍
i'd say danny is top three best drummers in the world... but the beauty of tool is that i'd also say that justin chancellor is top three bassists in the world, adam jones is top three guitarists in the world, and that maynard is top three singers in the world. and i'm comparing all styles of music when i say that. an impressive group. more impressive than any other that have ever lived imo.
Dare is a monster I’m sure you know they called the octopus and now you see why but you said this is the only live TOOL song you’ve done? Have you not done TOOL sober live? Where he’s wearing the pink pajama jumpsuit? If not you gotta watch that one that’s the one thatbasically made them famous. I can’t remember where the festival was at I think it was somewhere over by the UK or I can’t remember but there’s so many people there and they come out and put on the performance he gets into character holy moly people are mesmerized. I had the fortune of seeing them in Philadelphia in 1991 or 92. My older brother is a musician. He took me it was like a battle of the band. In like a basement that l was a bar in different bands played and when these guys played I was Godsmack you could tell right away they were different like it was crazy and they were so young like I mean I was so young I was like 1516 had a fake ID anyway they might’ve been early 20s but Maynard had a mullet and he was up there the guys intense he was so intense man explain anyway 35 years later here we are. Anyway, in English it’s pronounced. New ma kinda like pneumonia but also referring to the lungs except he’s referring to it as your first breath being born into the world and sometimes pneumonia is referring to your last breath if you get that illness. Where Danny is a master and his classically trained I don’t know too much about drumming, but there’s different styles right and he’s proficient and several of them is trained with some of the best drummers in the world all different continents but those noises you can’t explain when you’re listening to TOOL you’re like what the hell instrument is that but just about every single one of them is coming from him on the tablet of pads and the pads that you put on top of your kit that had different sounds.Tabula I think is the correct spelling only one song and their songs are like 9 to 12 minutes of peace bro talk about Stan Ama I think he was 57 or 58 when they shot this and with one leg he’s doing the bass on his other leg. He’s doing the snare symbol then he’s got both arms going. He’s doing the figure 8 with the right hand, and then he starts doing it reverse with the right hand. Law is left-hand is hitting the other germs. He’s literally doing four different things going for different directions at the same time. No I don’t play drums, but I know people that do all of my good friends is in a Dave Matthews cover band and they didn’t answer who was the drummer is sick and I was all right. He’s an amazing drummer and he said he tried this song and he’s been playing for 30 years. He said forget it dude I just gave up. And you really are getting there and you’re getting there fast buddy I love your channel you don’t try and do too much. You just keep it real. You’re very honest and relatable. You got some funny quirky jokes you talk a little bit about your life it’s cool man you do a great job, enjoy your channel
Ok, so I’ll stop messing with you soon, but as we wait, and anticipate maybe closing out the Undertow album with the title track, I wanted to give you some cheat codes to help with your reaction, when it comes. In the song Undertow, he changes the lyrics a bit every time first referring to a voice that starts out twice as clear as heaven, twice as loud a reason, deep and rich like silt on a riverbed (that’s a bar!)…. But as the undertow pulls him down, again and again, his perception to the u deleting g force that keep pulling him down changes to things like “cold black water, half as high as heaven, half as clear as reason”…. Poetically describing the changes in his feelings as each failure to climb out of the pattern. Meanwhile, the song references sections during the breakdown of Euphoria, as if he is trying to find it, the internal struggle raging, until the song breaks down and the music and vocals make you feel like you are being pulled down while screaming out a desire for Euphoria. It’s such an intricate track sonically and lyrically, you could fill a whole whiteboard. It most importantly, especially with a basic understanding going into it, you’re going to really FEEL it. Look forward to it! Keep up the good work man!
U know they're coming to Berlin ..... on June 8 .....? 4 u I think ..is time for rosetta stoned ! ..and if u decide to come on June.... see ya there !!
I’ve been enjoying your Tool journey! You say you’re a lyrics guy, are you familiar with Rage Against the Machine? If not, I’d recommend checking them out. Their music rocks, but the lyrics are on another level.
@@SaeedReacts. their most popular song is Killing in the Name. It’s not as poetic as most of their other work, but it’s a good starting place. It’s an anthem against police brutality, they’ve been standing up for the marginalized since the 90’s. I recommend always having the lyrics up, the lead singer can be hard to understand, and it’s easy to miss a lot of info.
A bit about the cameras. They were set up for and by the company Vic Firth who I work for in Boston. We make the drum sticks Danny uses. The video is shot at TD Garden in Boston. That is cool! Who better than Danny to showcase your product. Thanks for sharing this.
My brother is a lifelong drummer, and I am a 30+ year TOOL psychopath. I would do some crazy stuff to get a set of autographed Vic Firth Danny Cary sticks. ….just sayin
Danny turns 62 this year. And he still plays like he’s 22. He is the greatest living drummer. And is in the conversation for goat.
i saw them a few days ago in LA.. what did Danny there was just something else 😮
This was mindblowing to me.
Actually he's turning 63 this year! ❤
Best comment I’ve ever seen said: “legend has it that Danny made a deal with the devil. Nobody knows what Danny got but the devil got drum lessons”. 😆 Genius

Haha, that one is great! Feels like Danny could give Chuck Norris some drum lessons 😂
Danny is th GOAT. Every song from now on you'll wonder how much is actually Danny.
So true! I just recorded a reaction and that was going through my mind.
Yes from now on every time you listen to tool songs, he will be there...
My favorite band, saw them in Corpus Christi recently and it was AWESOME! Each member has mastered their craft. #Toolforever
Awesome you got to see them. Been enjoying this journey.
Top 3 drummers for me
This was amazing! A masterclass.
Best Drummer alive today!!!
I have no qualifications to speak on this, but i will say i agree 🤟.
I've scene them three times live. Best concert ever
I can imagine! Awesome you got to see them multiple times 🤟
Yes, pronounced 'May-nerd'. Welcome to the Octopus' lair, best in the biz! He was 58 or 59 yrs old at the time of this filming...
Thanks, wasnt sure. I hope i can be in that condition at 59. Wont be able to play the drums like that, but i can aim for those guns 💪😅

Watching him perform is just beautifully mesmerizing to me❤ If you get the chance ever Tool puts on an experience live❣️
Mesmerizing is the correct word. Thanks for watching.
Now you gotta check out the studio version. It's absolute perfection!
Will do!
this was done by Vic Firth, the maker of Danny's drum sticks and im not sure if any of this was shown during the concert. Im glad it was done because its a pleasure watching such a talented drummer.
So cool to see this. Respect!
By far, the best song performance they are currently doing. I've seen it a couple of times now. Always amazing.
This was a serious display of skills.
You must see them live. It's a life altering, magical experience. I recommend that everyone see Tool live at least once.
I can imagine. They are coming close to where i live this year. Dont know if tickets are still available. Usually that festival is sold out pretty fast .
SUPERHUMAN!! Thanks Saeed.
He is so good!
That was also the day my computer died (the warning signs in the video lagging were there 😅) Maybe it had something to do with Daney's incredible drumming. Poor thing could not handle it.
You guys have a song for life? My song is this!!!
It's an epic masterpiece!
Its kinda hypnotizing when you watch it.
It really is.
Danny is the best. One thing about Fear Innoculum is they're playing smarter, where in Undertow they were playing harder. Glad to share this journey!
That is interesting. I will keep that in mind while listening to different albums. Thanks.
I've seen Tool twice live (was supposed to be 5 times, but that is a story for another day) and both times they didn't disappoint
Definitely sounds like a story there. But cool you saw them twice.
Another great reaction. See you have your new headphones
Thanks. I actually had that one, but needed an adapter for the headphone jack. So i might still get another pair at some point.
danny's 62 this year so he'd have been 59 or 60 in this performance. saw them a few months ago and they're just as perfect as ever.
That is awesome! He is in great shape!

Danny Carey, your go to guy when it comes down to poly rhythmic drumming....🤤
Truly mindblowing!
I really was waiting for it 💛😼👍
This was an experience. Serious skills!
Feelings are subjective . Why feel anything
They definitely are unique to the individual. After numbing myself for years, for me personally its better to feel something good or bad than nothing. But again like you said, its subjective.
Now you are wiser....
Yes! I just recorded another reaction and now i am starting to recognize the instruments a little more. This was amazing. Thanks for watching.
Legend
💯
Great reaction. Not too much stopping either. Lol
Thank you! I am trying to find a balance :)

I will check that one out too! So many to chose from 😅.
... and they're working toward a sixth album, three decades later
Oh! Any release date known?
Do yourself a favour and listen to the cd version of this on headphones. It'll bring tears to your eyes
Will do! Thanks!
He's so incredibly good at what he does it's actually just beautiful to watch/hear/experience. They all are, really.
This was a masterclass.

Thank you so much for some context! I will check that one out soon.
If you haven’t yet checked out Jambi and lost keys/rosetta stoned I’d highly recommend
Havent checked those out. Thanks for the recommendation.
If he were wearing an Apple Watch or Fitbit it would have said YOURE 62, then just exploded.
He walked to the moon and back!
U know they're coming to Berlin ..... on June 8 .....? 4 u I think ..is time for rosetta stoned ! ..and if u decide to come on June.... see ya there !!
I did not. Love to visit Berlin as well some time.

Rage's Tom Morello and TOOL's Adam Jones went to high school together and were friends. They also were in a band together.
I know the band by name, but not familiar with their music. Will check them out. Thanks!

You seem like an awesome guy love the video….but the HUGEEEEEE delay on your video was painful
I know! (About the video, not about the awesomeness). Soon after my laptop died. Got a new one and newer videos should be much smoother!
