I’m carnivore 1 year now. Healed. Basic food. Bbbe. I can eat beef patties everyday. Eggs everyday. I feel amazing. 65 in august. 3 sizes down. Exercise every day.
Ignore Ivan he is trolling and replying with incorrect info each time he post a reply...he's probably bored and unhappy...maybe a job would keep him busy.
Burgers / ground beef, steak, eggs, butter, cheese, coffee. That is 75 to 80 percent of what I eat in a month. I will sometimes (one or 2 days per month) have peanut butter or almond butter (no sugar or other ingredients other than salt, water and the nuts). Works fine.
I am a bit of a novice. My wife has been on the beef and butter for a while. I was eating lots of eggs and beef and recently the butter. There is so much to learn. I am new to Dr Boz. I've watched a few Ken Berry and will continue to do so. We are fortunate to have doctors laying out good information. Today I start the butter only . We'll see how it goes. I am almost 70, on a lot of supplements but no meds. Last year I had surgery for a hernia. Today my biggest health challenge is running to the bathroom 4 or 5 times at night, and tinitus. Who knows maybe this will help.Truly Blessed. I feel great. I do physical construction work . Many Thanks for my wife guiding me along the keto path. I am looking forward to my first sardine day.
Thank you Dr.Boz. I've been perplexed with months of clean keto and fasting blood sugars all over 100. I finally have a strategy -Sardine fast... going to give it a try!
Thank you so much! I've been doing meat only since the beginning of the year and have lost 20 lbs so far but it has been so slow and compared to my husband, I'm barely moving. I feel better than before I started but couldn't understand why I'm not seeing the results everyone else seems to be realizing. I didn't realize how I've messed up my metabolism and you're the only voice I've found that is teaching people how to repair it.
This is a huge epiphany for me, I finally have a roadmap and a start point. It makes perfect sense to my carb addicted brain. Thankyou Dr and all the people who helped to establish this data by participating
I too have been seeking through the confusion for tge right way to est to be as well as I can be. Tried 9 yearsvof whole food plant based just... got fatter and no cheating. I know from the first swallow of that 16 ozs. of ground beef I ate that OMAD meal that next day. I felt my cells just "work" right as if they woke up and start wagging their tails with happy. I was 3 bites in and J was fullervthen I ever had been so soon after eating vegetables. I knew my gerlin and leptin has not been working right, despite "normal labs. I am convinced if I am able to get my Vit D past 19 & 24 lots of good happenings will come to pass. Thanks to all the experts who are so passionate and dedicated for your research and sharing. No one thing is right for everyone...but their are some truths that are invaluable & infallible. FOOD IS INDEED OUR MEDICINE and it is up to us to figure out and how best to use it for cell wellness and healing. I am excited to be on this journey.
I like that expression : carb addicted brain, tells it exactly as it is. We’re all addicts. When I realised, I couldn’t help noticing people differently, which isn’t always good. At a lovely large family get together yesterday where there was a buffet spread out, I couldn’t help noticing the addict-like behaviour in nearly all the guests of going back for more, and more and more food. So much of the conversation was about the food, ‘have you tried the…’,’would you like me to get you….’, ‘you must try the..’ ‘I’m going to have some more…’ ‘yes I must try the….’ ‘That looks amazing I’m going to get some.’
@@caroliner1901 Low-carb ketone/carnivore type diets work just like cocaine, meth and other street drugs. These diets are addiction physiology par excellence. (1) They rev up the metabolism to oxidize proteins and fats for ATP which are larger compounds than carbs that metabolize quick and simple and require less to process. (2) So the proteins and fats are doing double duty for ATP energy creation and (3) try to keep up standard maintenance of structural, biological and hormonal integrity with higher uric acid byproducts and ketones which can (4) lead to acidosis [saturated dumped acid in the tissues] to prevent acidemia in the blood. This is the exactly how it works with stimulant addicts. So going into starvation mode like an addict you lose weight as the body is eating itself because of malnourishment, with high cortisol, adrenaline and dopamine levels which are like steroidal pain relief drugs and produce the same street drug euphoria, with a metabolic equilibrium eventually met because of food intake. That's why every keto/carnivore/caveman/cavewoman says the same thing "I feel better/amazing"! Which is because it's like you're on drugs!
WOW! Thank you, doctor Boz! I went through three 2lb packs of that Kerrygold pure Irish butter from Costco last month, so I got four packs for this month. But for some reason it's not moving, I guess I got tired of it. But THIS has given it new life! I have 6 pounds of butter and a ton of sardines in olive oil. Plus the best part! A plan! You can kiss that butter goodbye and the sardines soon to follow! I check my glucose all the time, but the ketone meter just sits in its new box, never used after a year or more. I'm pulling that out also! I got everything, I just need to get the stuff out of the containers and start using them!!! Thank you doctor for the exciting plan with numbers! (This shows you how stupid I can be! I'm sitting on a healthy gold mine and completely unaware of it! Another wow, but in the opposite direction)! LOL I've also been dabbling in the carnivore diet for about a year now, so this should be a piece of cake, I meant a piece of butter.
I made a pan of browned butter , added fresh bacon bits put it in silicone candy molds keep them in a container in the freezer and eat them when I’m craving sweets .. the brown butter is delicious!! You can also mix cream cheese and the browned butter together and put in molds also delicious! There are several recipes for making browned butter but it’s super easy and quick!
I am so thankful I came across Dr. Boz and this video. It made so much sense to me on every level. It gave me hope and an understanding of why my body seems to have shut down in fat burning. Thank you so very much as I was so close to just giving into this weight-gain.
Diana, I too had just given up on ever loosing weight I was late 50’s when I started ketovore. My husband who is 10 yrs older started it following Ken Berry and Dr Boz put his type II diabetes in remission now takes no meds for it. We both lost the weight feel great at 62 I have no aches, pains or health problems except HBP but it’s very controlled with minimal medication.. Do it , get rid of the carbs it took me 6 weeks before I lost my first pound and I would hit plateaus and stay for months but eventually I would loose more .. At my age it was slow going but it DID happen.. Be patient, be strict super low to no carbs and u WILL loose.
@Tam B Thank you for sharing. I had been on Keto and eventually went Carnivore but would fall off and gain back to the point of giving up. I'm on Ozempic now, and it's a miracle drug in my mind. Not just because it controls appetite and fat loss, but it gives me hope. Attitude is as much a battle as calories in and out. I just turned 70 and after a very adventurous and active life, hormonal or otherwise losing control over my body was a death sentence. I'm so grateful to feel like I'm getting back on track.
Why do we need to start with beef and butter? I wanted to try your 72 hour sardine fast, so I did last week, and it was great. Great ketone and glucose numbers. Averaged about 4-5 cans a day and was full on that.
@@Saraaa2538 I lost 15 lbs on keto this year, which was all the weight I had to lose. I don't specifically know what was lost on the sardine fasts themselves.
Butter for the WIN!!!! I ate 1/2 a stick in 12 hours…maybe choked down is more accurate…but wow!! My ketones are 3.4 and that’s the highest I’ve ever recorded!!! Wahoo!! My Dr Boz ratio was 26!!! I’m sold!
@@Jesus_Saves_Its_A_Free_Gift I started adding 3T butter to my hot tea to get it down easier. I’m super impressed with ketones and glucose levels. I would suggest you try it three times a week and see how the scales go in a week or two. All the best to you!!
I was wondering about this and why you would just do butter, if you could do ghee and Mct instead and increase the smaller chain fats rather than longer. Thanks for commenting this.
Honestly I found cold beef renderings delish I’m amazed as I never would have thot to just eat it but ppl kept saying on vids they use them as fat intake. So I started saving grease from frying up hambs. Still took me couple weeks to try it. I don’t strain mine so there’s little bits of crisp beef in it too YUM I can’t believe how tasty it is - and it’s FREE. I pay $12 a pound for my rly good butter (100% pastured/grassfed) 😑 Free is beautiful! But it’s delicious too! (ideally, ur beef is pastured also YES)
I struggled to eat more than a tablespoon at a time till i saw you drink after you ate a bite of butter..duh..i just ate 4 tablespoons of butter while drinking some coffe mixed with sparkling water after each bite. Feel so satisfied and will be able to easily continue my fast till dinner as planned. Hoping this will help me to not overeat at my meals. Amazing.
Dr. Chaffee suggests we eat plenty of meat (mostly) till the point of satiety where we can't take another bite. Then that's not overeating it's eating like our ancestors since they never really knew when they might eat again. I think that's why ketovores/ carnivores can go hours without eating and do OMAD or TMAD without snacking. I find it liberating!
Yeah I don’t get that Still same fat count 🤷🏼♀️ Kerry Gold is not what it says it is tho. They’re fraudulent in their practices. Maple Hill is a great brand. Truly grassfed. There’s brands from NZ at WholeWallet, errr Foods, that are grassfed too. Raw A2 cream u make butter out of urself is best. And stick to goat cheese unless u know the milk used was A2. Or again, make ur own. Cheddar is rly not difficult. Brie might be… I love all the flavors of cheese but eat crappy CAFO cheese, just a good brand Cabot Seriously Sharp cheddar YUM Parmesano Reggiano Jarlsburg swiss Gouda Costco has great cheese selection of CAFO cheeses.
Excellent Video ! Also recent studies by Doctors/Professors like Paul Mason, Tim Noakes and Erick Westman show that higher healthy LDL cholesterol levels are associated with a longer healthier life. They say an easy way to tell if you have healthy Cholesterol is that if you have low Triglycerides under 70 to 80 and good HDL levels that you will have healthy unoxidized cholesterol. But if you have high triglycerides that most likely you have oxidized unhealthy cholesterol and you will have inflammation in your arteries and heart and you need to cut out the excess carbs, sugars, PUFAs and possessed foods. And eat more healthy saturated and monosaturated fats.
so trigs at 60 and hdl at 65 is good? I'm eating ketovore - mostly bbbe with some cheese, a veg or some nuts, one coffee w HWC, a choc/pb fat bomb - pretty active for my 77 yrs but would still like to lose 10-15#. I must still have IR, cuz if I "blink" (as in have a zero carb tortilla, or an almond flour baked item), my waiste expands again.
Fasting was more difficult than giving up alcohol. I love to eat (who doesn't?), but I was eating all the time since I was snacking every couple of hours even just before bedtime. When I was still in the workforce I needed to eat to keep up my energy. But, when I retired I didn't reduce my caloric consumption. Thus, I gained weight and my blood glucose levels skyrocketed! Thanks to following much of your advice for just 3 months, I have lost over half of the weight that I gained over 15 years and I have my blood glucose well below my doctor's recommendations! Thank you!
Raised on a farm and have always eaten home-grown meat and veg. Still eat organic and grow and can my own veggies as much as possible. Glad Keto works for others, but just good food, intermittent fasting, moderation is all I'm willing to do. (cholesterol and insulin, both good). I'm really interested in the sardine fast (but I won't fast, I'll just substitute sardines at lunch and extend the intermittent fasting hours (no food after dark). We'll see. Couple of bad accidents limited my movement for a while and I've some weight to lose. Love, love, love vinegar in hot water with meals (bought an Italian gourmet brand Aceto De Mele Apple Cider Vinegar, yum). Have a sport in the spring/summer/fall that I really enjoy.
This is so helpful! I was eating butter during my fasts (it was helping me to push through). When I tried the sardines, I felt so good throughout the fast. My goal is to increase my ketones each time. Can you do a video regarding how the addition of fat or sardines affects autophagy?
Most studies suggest that the link between butter/dairy and heart disease is weak at best and in fact recent studies, (Medical News Today article) show that good quality grassfed butter and dairy may actually protect against heart disease, dementia, Alzheimer's and cancer. I eat quite a bit of butter/dairy and my cholesterol ratios, total 240, triglycerides low at 50, HDLs high at 70, vLDL 3, very good ratios. I also like and eat sardines.
I love my coffee especially with heavy cream. I limit the cream to once a day now and the rest of the time I add a tsp of butter to each cup. It smooths out the flavor and is almost as good as cream.
What I had to do when I would (plateau) is exercise more! I would lose 10 lbs maybe and then stay there no matter how I stuck to the diet so I had to exercise more and then slowly I would see the weight start to drop again!
Fortunately I enjoy the taste of sardines 😋 I do have questions regarding the end of 72 h sardine challenge. What’s the ideal way to come out of it without wrecking havoc on your guts? Do you move to eating ad libitum or move to your usual intermittent fasting program? Thank you!
just thinking about our ancestors worrying about how they break there fast, i suspect they broke it as quickly as they could get there hands on something to eat! and they would probably gorge themselves on it. if your body is used to not eating then i think it would be used to being fed again also.
@@grider421 uh no I doubt it If I eat a full meal after fasting more than 36 hrs, let alone 4-5 days, it’ll just come out the other end pronto. Let alone gorge myself! They knew how to eat, they had to prepare it first anyhow, things would get ready a little at a time, not all at once.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah i’ve done a couple of thirty day fasts and to break them i ate! i didn’t pay attention to all the special reports from people talking about how you must start with bone broth! i have read accounts of indians eating huge amounts of meat gorging themselves till they were as tight as ticks. now obviously if your at the end stages of starvation and are in the process of dying you have to be careful but most americans could go thirty days easily we are so fat, it’s when you run out of fat and start consuming muscle tendons now that’s starvation. going a week or two isn’t.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah oh i forgot to ask what is your diet like? i eat carnivore, meat is easily digested if you eat lots of plants and wheat you may be in trouble or the typical SAD diet of most americans that stuff is very lucrative for big food and big pharma, big medicine but poison for us
I did a 21 day water only fast about a year ago but sadly I’m in need of it again. I think I’ll do another 21 day but I’ll use this 72 hour sardine fast to adjust my body first.
I agree with limiting your choices. It seems to help me to not overeat if something is just plain and doesn't taste too good,...mixed into a recipe. Eat to live, don't live live to eat.
Thank you for this Dr. Boz. I am a Dr. Berry follower but have gained alot on Carnivore. Food sensitivity to eggs, so those are a no-go. Stopped the brown butter bites & butter. So mainly Beef & sardines. Hypothyroidism also with adrenal disfunction. I've ordered the meter kit. Hoping your guidance will help my weight loss.
I upped my fat to crazy levels & rly lowered my meat/eggs/cheese Eating a stick of butter a day- or trying…6T seems to be my limit I’m aiming for 200g fat daily 80/20 fat to protein 80% fat I can pack away alooot of beef. It’s my favorite. So I’ve limited myself and concentrated on the animal FAT. Ppl eat fried ribeye fat, pork belly, etc and the very fatty cheeses along with the butter. I’m still eating hamburger & eggs here lol (food stamps budget). I buy rly quality butter tho and get local eggs. So Walmart/Sam’s Club/Dollar General meat it is! I have been hypothyroid since first baby I’m pretty sure. That was 19yo, now I’m 58. My HPA axis is messed up too. Add to those, or becuz of those, IR; and forget it. I have PCOS too. Yay! LOL I hear ya, ur not the odd fish. There are many of us out here!
new here. I fasted for a week a few years back. If I were sure it would be amazing I'd go much longer. I'm just not convinced fasting's good for me anymore, so this doc here looks like she can answer my questions. I just wanted to put that into the record here before I really pay attention. My questions will include: how do I know fasting won't actually make my metabolism worse? I'll pay attention to a few videos then comment again. Thank-you.
I’ve started the ketogenic diet exactly have Dr. Boz instructed. What is interesting is I bought the Flora six connect glucose monitor and the Keto-Mojo. I open up the glucose and keto strips for both machines, clean the site on my finger squeeze a healthy size wasted drop then I squeeze a large drop of blood and allow both machines to check my sugar and check my key tones from the same drop of blood. I get significantly different results from both machines. I am curious to which one I believe? I would really like to believe the one that gives me the best results. I have tested this theory now three times and continue to get different results from both machines. I was just curious what Dr. Boz would say or recommend. I know I’ve been strict but I’ve been checking my levels twice daily to see how my body reacts.
I was going to wait to comment but Dr. Boz just said the magic word "efficient" I've been muttering for years, even back in my Mark Sisson days when I was skinny strong and fast and fasting the heck out of things. I would always say: don't fat people have the most efficient machines? People with slow metabolisms eat small amounts. In any other machine, low fuel consumption would be a sign of efficiency!
Sardines are a very risky strategy. 1. They become very oxidized from long storage 2. They often are processed with highly oxidized, omega-6 rich oils..Even if they don't list them with the ingredients, it is quite common to use seed oils in processing. If they label says "May contain soy, there is a very signficant chance it has soybean oil in it. 3. If you are getting sardines, get a very reputable brand that are sold in olive oil...Olive oil is the best medium for preventing oxidization of the sardines...There's an NCBI study on this somewhere...However, most olive oil is not pure, so you are always taking a lot of risks with sardines.
I do not buy anything other than sardines in water. If real olive oil it beccomes oxidized when heated. Regular olive oils are either the second press or solvent produced. Olive oils from a certain Country may be labeled as extra virgin but have seed oils added. I add my EVO to my sardines in water
Dr gundry was talking abt difference between US & French cows. He was suggesting eating French cheese & French butter. Went online & got French butter. Omg it is so good & creamy. I could easily eat a whole stick.
Thank you for this video, I just finished a 3 day sardine fast (love sardines by the way), ketones went up on second day, even better on third (fasted1.5). Glucose (fasted 72). Really happy with the results. I am feeling great also. The only thing that I felt got affect negatively is my sleep, not getting deep sleep, I will work on that for the next round.
The topic of Dr Boz’s talk sounds very interesting, brain injury and glucose uptake. I would love to hear it but I’m in Australia and there’s now I would make 07:00 😂
I have fasted for 20 days. For the first 5 days I was still running. I had to sign a waver of no responsiblity (similar). I was very fit in those days. Fasted for 20 days on water. (Under supervision at Dr Shelton centre San Antonio, Texas.) I lost 20lbs.
Amazingly interesting info!! I have just started doing keto. Am on my 4'th day. When do fasts like these, butter or sardines, become relevant for me to do? Do i need to get to the Autophagy stage first (around 6 months)? Or can i benefit from these fasts earlier?
😂😂😂😂😂 i just hit the button when you said i am eating butter 😂😂😂😅😅 I just start today entering the highway of keto, wish me luck. Goi g shopping sardines and butter
I was doing great. Then I got sick, used medicine with surgery 🙃 junk in it. I cannot seem to lose the 7lbs I gained. I'm gonna have to do a 48-hour fast. Perhaps a 72 hour butter fast
I normally break a fast with a bullet proof cappuccino and then a bit later 5 or 6 eggs scrambled with sour cream, Parmesan cheese and onion in Butter. I don't bother with vegetables and have zero cravings for carbs or sugars etc
Even the onion is considered eating vegs I can’t live without alliums and olives sometimes, even avos But I keep all as minimum as possible as the almost stick of daily butter I eat is satiating
Truly, love how you share your glucose and keystone numbers. But would you kindly share your lipid numbers? HDL, LDL, TOTAL CHOLESTEROL, TRIGLYCERIDES? Thanks so much. I only ask because after keto my cholesterol was at 220. I went whole plant vegan and my total cholesterol is now 145. No medication. If I follow your suggestions, what will my outcome be. By the way I have no issue fasting. It’s easy for me. My goal is health and weight loss.
Dr Boz thank you for your video, I'm really grateful for the information that you provide. I'm noticing more and more people are transitioning from an unhealthy diet to a more realistic traditionally aware diet. I've been doing the beef and butter diet My question would be what about the backup of bile in the gallbladder from the fat does it cause gallbladder stones? I've had three gallbladder attacks in my life and they've told me to remove it I said hey God gave it to me for free and you want to charge me 😂 I told him sorry homie don't play that way😊 look forward to More videos
I got rid of my gall stones when I finally got up the nerve to do a gallbladder cleanse. It was a bit complex, But I did it! I would be happy to give you the details if you want to message me. No problems since.
I think I need to try this butter thing for a day once in awhile because even though it is fairly easy for me to do a 42 hr or 72hr water fasts, My ketone levels are not very high. I have the EPOE4 genes (one from each parent) so am prone to alzheimers. I am spending more time trying to improve my Dr. Boz ratio to help prevent the onslaught of alzheimers.
Sardines gave me gout..😅 I took a product ph adjust and fixed it. But sardines fasting is not for me. I love sardines. Is there a way to counter gout when on sardine fasting?
this is my first video of yours ive seen i broke my 20 hour fast having 4 egg omelet with some olives and tuna cooked in avocado oil and my desert was sardines in mustard
I’ve been trying to lose 5 pounds that I had gained. I was stuck until I did the sardine fast. It was great! I wish you hadn’t moved to FL! I’m from NE. Is there anyone from near Omaha to. Be a support system with me?
I eat butter everyday. I keep 10 pounds in my fridge. 5 pounds regular for cooking and 5 pounds of pasture.. I don't eat it like a chocolate bar though. It goes on all my meat, eggs, and my dessert.which is bacon. I was Keto for 5 years, now 37 days on Carnivore.
I've been primarily carnivore for 6 months now and mostly do a 16/8 Intermittent fast with my eating window from 12 - 8pm although alot of the time I only eat one meal a day. I went to my Dr yesterday for a 6-month check-up. I last saw my Dr approximately 3 weeks into my carnivore journey and he stated that I had not been on it long enough to see a difference in my A1C labs due to it being an avg over a 3 month period. At that time my A1C was 6.8 and I also deal with high blood pressure. All other labs looked great including cholesterol. Triglycerides were a little high at 179. Although not in any way perfect on my carnivore diet but probably around 85 to 90% of the time, I did expect to see some improvement in my A1C numbers and BP. Yesterday my A1C labs were 7.3 and my BP is still elevated. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I have seen many overall improvements from a reduction in inflammation to feeling 150% better in general although I've felt crappy this week for some reason. As a result of my A1C numbers yesterday my Dr. prescribed me Rybelsus and I continue to take BP meds. Has anyone here taken Rybelsus? I haven't picked up the prescription yet. Any suggestions on what I should do, concerns etc? Thanks for any help.
There are so many things that could cause this rise in Hb1Ac and your BP not coming down. Maybe you have more stress physically or mentally. Too much vigorous exercise or not enough sleep. You may be eating too much protein which leads to gluconeogensis. You don't mention your ketones or your Dr. BOZ ratio. You don't mention whether you still have too much weight. You don't mention what exactly and how much you've been eating this 10-15% of the time you were not eating strict carnivore. So there are many unknown factors to the readers of this comment detective this.
Your body wants to run on sugar and your insulin is too high for proper day metabolism with the glucose from protein. Until your body heals you'll need to have less protein. Lots as 75g a day and 200g fat or til satiety.
I'm archie from the uk I'm a diabetic type 2 I've now been on the diet for 11 days i was so tyred so can't do much exercise yet because of my feet thay are getting better and I'm filling better but it's slow I don't think I've lost much weight yet but I gess its only been 11 days thank you for your time my glucose is 6.6 now will do my best to reduce it take care all and archie
I love your passion. It makes me want to learn whatever you're teaching. A little butter is good for vitamin A absorbtion.. i am allergic to dairy, butter, cheeses and even ghee due to the milk proteins, so I substitute with coconut oil.
Ur getting no short chain fats, no butyrate acids, no vitA It’s not a substitute FOR It’s just a substitute I hope u can heal ur gut to be able to tolerate butter if no other dairy
I am loving this video! I am wondering if we should still take electrolytes and salt while doing the sardine fast? I am not very certain on how much to take while doing a water fast actually, but I will check to see if you have a video regarding that. Thank you,
Hey Doc! Thanks for the wonderful video!! Is it okay to eat sardines in "extra virgin olive oil" to get the benefit of this diet? I usually drain as much as I can from the oil before I'd eat the sardines. Thank you.
Her answer in another video was "Yes". The oils in sardine cans are of poor quality. Better to buy sardines in water, drain, and add your own olive oil. Hope this helps.
I have posted this question ❓ on so many videos - including several with Dr Boz. SCENARIO:: Finish dinner (meal #2) at 6pm Sat. > Not hungry until 3pm Sun. > eat sardines --> which starts the challenge. I get that. But I'm already 21 hrs. into the fast at that point. I'm thinking the sardine challenge is not the same as the 72 hour fast.>> How do I proceed❓ *Count 72 hours from my first can, then break the fast? Or *Count 72 hours from the end of my meal on Saturday night and then eat my last can of sardines?
Question: I will really try this out with the sardines in oil. But I still have a question if the butter is better than MCT oil, coconut oil and olive oil (x vergine)? I have low blood preassure, 55 kg to a height of 165 cm, no diabetes and make my food from scratch, no sugar added to it, eating window of six hours, but have a "baby belly" after two kids.
Really I accidentally bought butter first time in life at 49 years can't believe I started walking for 45 minutes and felling like 35, it's really working I think ketosis learnt here also took fish oil but didn't kick start like butter so butter wins for me I was bit afraid if iam doing harm to my heart
You are teaching your body to use ketones for fuel so you can stop eating all those unhealthy carbs that bounce your blood sugar up and down. I’m no dr; just studying fasting and ketogenic eating for about seven years now.
I never ate butter plan until I listen to you. I was very surprised how much I like the taste. It could be because of the butter I buy but I crave it now.
@@fatousene1940 how is your energy? I can’t get ketones on my mojo I average about .02 or .03 with low energy and now my bp keeps spiking. I am discouraged.

Love to eat butter but I only do a couple of tablespoons at a time. If I have a hunger craving and no time to cook I eat a couple of Tablespoons of butter. Yum. Are we supposed to eat sardines in water or sardines in oil? And do we also drink/eat the water and or oil?
if you are looking for an answer to your question is best to ask in the comments as a new question otherwise as an answer to my question it will not be seen , hope that makes sense :). it doesn't look like it was an answer to my question. @@melissadd7597
I would be curious to see how charts broke down according to the number of cans of sardines eaten each day…at one per day they are eating 100 kcal per day. That’s just a modified fast of Omad. I fast every other day and eat 6 to 9 cans of sardines on my feast days…plus olives and spinach.. Was there anyone who ate as much as 1000kcals/10 cans per day? How did they compare to the squeamish one can nibblers?
Dr. Boz, could you please be a bit more specific about the type of sardines you recommend? Where I live, canned sardines are only available in either tomato sauce, sunflower oil or olive oil. Sardines in just water or brine is not available, at least not in most stores. The tomato sauce type is out of the question on a keto diet, so I am left with either sunflower or olive oil. I have weighed the content of a can and found that there is 80 grams of sardines and 30-35 grams of olive oil in a can. That means that the majority of calories in that can comes from the oil, and not from the sardines themselves. Do you recommend draining off as much of the oil as possible, or would you just eat the whole content including all the oil?
This looks like a great challenge. I am 64, new to keto, w/a generally healthy diet, about 2 wks off of carbs, trying to do a 6hr eating window w/seeds, yogurt, cheese, meat and some veg. My main concern is a rising PSA of 30 from 11 last month w/some prior rounds of Lupron which I am seriously trying to avoid. I have just started see your material, but familiar w/Keto from Dr. Berg. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ken.
I've been on a low carb diet for about 1.5 weeks and lost 7 lbs. I've been eating twice within an 8hr window. I'm getting myself ready for a sardine challenge. 1. I'm going to share a story that goes back to about 1970... My older brother convinced us that sardines & peanut butter sandwiches were delicious. Since I looked up to my big brother I tried it and liked it. I haven't tried the combination since then. I'm trying to figure out a way to make the 3 day sardine challenge go over the best. If I mix sardines with freshly ground peanut butter (not processed peanut butter) would that be a pro or con? If peanut butter isn't best, how about another nut, such as almond? 2. I am definitely insulin resistant and have been for probably 18 years. Should I water fast after the sardine challenge or would that create too much stress? Can I replace water with homemade collagen rich chicken broth and pink salt? 3. You (Dr Boz) mentioned that one could join the community for support. How do I join? Thank you!
I don't know about adding peanut butter. Some sardines come in olive oil and apparently that's okay (avoid things like cottonseed/soybean oil). I've also added a bit of melted butter or coconut oil to sardines packed only in water and salt (hope that's okay). But peanuts are actually a legume and have some carbs and anti-nutrients. You might be able to eat some on a standard keto diet (as long as total carbs are low) but it may interfere with some of sardines' benefits. Just my take.
Wish i could do butter but I'm lactose intolerant now due to incurable SIBO, and a poor performing gallbladder and pancrease. Im on day 4 of a 10 day water only fast, followed by a carnivore diet. No dairy, no sugar, no alcohol, no refined carbs or UPF, no fruits, no veggies.
I’m carnivore 1 year now. Healed. Basic food. Bbbe. I can eat beef patties everyday. Eggs everyday. I feel amazing. 65 in august. 3 sizes down. Exercise every day.
Good luck having no energy at all and being extremely thirsty in a few days
@@MansoyHumilde777 why do u say that?

Burgers / ground beef, steak, eggs, butter, cheese, coffee. That is 75 to 80 percent of what I eat in a month. I will sometimes (one or 2 days per month) have peanut butter or almond butter (no sugar or other ingredients other than salt, water and the nuts). Works fine.

You have to eat your butter frozen! The texture and feel are optimal that way-creamy and sweet-not greasy. Try it.
I will have to try this. I eat it cold and I like it that way too. Can't do room temperature. Can also have melted over veggies or over meat.

Thank you so much! I've been doing meat only since the beginning of the year and have lost 20 lbs so far but it has been so slow and compared to my husband, I'm barely moving.
Dr. Boz, I have been following you since the beginning of your channel, and I have never seen you so young, attractive, and vibrant as in this video.
I love your personality, Dr. Boz!❤

Dr. Chaffee suggests we eat plenty of meat (mostly) till the point of satiety where we can't take another bite.

Check your numbers
I know I’ve been strict but I’ve been checking my levels twice daily to see how my body reacts.
my keto mojo matches my hospital lab work, if that helps at all
I was going to wait to comment but Dr.
1. They become very oxidized from long storage
How about fresh sardines?
I do not buy anything other than sardines in water. If real olive oil it beccomes oxidized when heated. Regular olive oils are either the second press or solvent produced. Olive oils from a certain Country may be labeled as extra virgin but have seed oils added.
I add my EVO to my sardines in water

I think I need to try this butter thing for a day once in awhile because even though it is fairly easy for me to do a 42 hr or 72hr water fasts, My ketone levels are not very high. I have the EPOE4 genes (one from each parent) so am prone to alzheimers. I am spending more time trying to improve my Dr. Boz ratio to help prevent the onslaught of alzheimers.
Talk about walking the talk. Great job Dr Boz
Sardines gave me gout..😅 I took a product ph adjust and fixed it. But sardines fasting is not for me. I love sardines. Is there a way to counter gout when on sardine fasting?
Hi Dr. I like the way you explain and help us to be more healthy. What kind of butter do you recommend? Thanks and blessings
One cable too short Doc .... I love butter just the way you are doing it and sardines are awesome as well. Great video.
this is my first video of yours ive seen i broke my 20 hour fast having 4 egg omelet with some olives and tuna cooked in avocado oil and my desert was sardines in mustard
What do you do with the oil in the Sardines.
Awe the pearls are back and mixed with butter! Cool.

Hello and good morning from Perth west Australia 🇦🇺 I have just started keto

Eat highfat, lowered protein
80/20 fat to protein
A stick of butter a day is great twds ur 200g
Work up to it
Your body wants to run on sugar and your insulin is too high for proper day metabolism with the glucose from protein. Until your body heals you'll need to have less protein. Lots as 75g a day and 200g fat or til satiety.

A STICK of butter a day?! This is horrible.
People, please don't do that. Fad diets don't work for everyone.
Could I eat salmon with melted butter instead of sardines?
unfortunately no
Love your data Dr. Boz. Proof positive.
I love your passion. It makes me want to learn whatever you're teaching. A little butter is good for vitamin A absorbtion.. i am allergic to dairy, butter, cheeses and even ghee due to the milk proteins, so I substitute with coconut oil.
Ur getting no short chain fats, no butyrate acids, no vitA
It’s not a substitute FOR
It’s just a substitute
I hope u can heal ur gut to be able to tolerate butter if no other dairy
I am loving this video! I am wondering if we should still take electrolytes and salt while doing the sardine fast?
I am not very certain on how much to take while doing a water fast actually, but I will check to see if you have a video regarding that. Thank you,
Yes
Always do ur electrolytes if on any keto or fasting
SCENARIO::
Finish dinner (meal #2) at 6pm Sat. > Not hungry until 3pm Sun. > eat sardines --> which starts the challenge. I get that. But I'm already 21 hrs. into the fast at that point.
I'm thinking the sardine challenge is not the same as the 72 hour fast.>>
How do I proceed❓
*Count 72 hours from my first can, then break the fast? Or
*Count 72 hours from the end of my meal on Saturday night and then eat my last can of sardines?
By the way i am 52 y/o , and have been vegan for 13 years. I am glad the Lord gave me the courageous will.
Nope

What's the best way to back off of and eventually get off of insulin and metformin?
It helps to lift weights and run as well to deplete the glycogen from the muscle.
I eat 1/2 stick of butter every day for fat.
I can hear you very well tonight. I usually have a time hearing you. WTG!
Do I understand this right? Eating butter helps the body make ketones. Ketones aid in weightloss?
You are teaching your body to use ketones for fuel so you can stop eating all those unhealthy carbs that bounce your blood sugar up and down. I’m no dr; just studying fasting and ketogenic eating for about seven years now.
I never ate butter plan until I listen to you. I was very surprised how much I like the taste. It could be because of the butter I buy but I crave it now.
What brand?
Carnivore 3.5 years. my daily ketones tend to be less than .5 Glucose 80ish. However if I do a 24 hour fast my ketones spike up pretty fast…1.5-2.5
Hi my ketone are below 0.5 as well. Does that mean I still in ketosis?
@@fatousene1940 how is your energy? I can’t get ketones on my mojo I average about .02 or .03 with low energy and now my bp keeps spiking. I am discouraged.
@@vangojo4u my energy was very low. But now it’s much better. I have added fasting to it so now my ketone is little up. Don’t be discouraged it will be better :)

Love to eat butter but I only do a couple of tablespoons at a time. If I have a hunger craving and no time to cook I eat a couple of Tablespoons of butter. Yum. Are we supposed to eat sardines in water or sardines in oil? And do we also drink/eat the water and or oil?
Can you have coffee with butter during a 72 hour sardine fast ? Thank you
Sardines are protein, not pure fat. So how is that a fast?
if you are looking for an answer to your question is best to ask in the comments as a new question otherwise as an answer to my question it will not be seen , hope that makes sense :). it doesn't look like it was an answer to my question.
Great questions
I have the same question!
Use the oil as a firefighter for your barbecue!
Why not fresh Sardines?
@@heidispence3171 even better! I can’t imagine where to find them lol if u know, eat ‘em!
During the sardines 'fast' your carbs should be zero. But doing what you can, even when not perfect, is better than doing nothing at all.
This sounds interesting. Macadamia nut butter has the most fat.
No nuts, just sardines
Wish i could do butter but I'm lactose intolerant now due to incurable SIBO, and a poor performing gallbladder and pancrease. Im on day 4 of a 10 day water only fast, followed by a carnivore diet. No dairy, no sugar, no alcohol, no refined carbs or UPF, no fruits, no veggies.
