- This is the first video of a new build, that will be all documented and shown here on the Tube! “Cheap Date” the $5000 dollar factory short bed! This video consists of bringing home the truck, tearing it down, start of chassis restoration and work, and the start of the cab repairs.. hope you guys Enjoy, back with a part 2 soon!
I’m a huge fan of cheap date.
2wd short stepsides have always been cool.
I found that farm implement paint is awsome for your undercarriage, it's a all in one paint/ primer one coat that thick and creamy and dries to a hard finish. I used a paint brush to apply it, it was very budget friendly. 👍
That's going to be one fine-looking ride. I agree with you as far as making it a dependable driver before you do cosmetics. Keep up the great work and the awesome content 👍✌️🇺🇲
I love the Mag wheels
Just a old man now, used to mechanic a lot as a kid and the diesel became the trade and of course fab work. When you pulled the diff cover on the rear axle, if I remember right, the axle tube on passenger side had stamped into it the true history of the date of manufacture plus ratio of the unit plus if it was a locker or not. Sometimes really rusty and hard to bring it back to where it could be read. I grafted parts just like you and ran the ford 4x4 trucks with big block for racing and having a ton of fun when they were brand new.... much easier to read them then. No matter if its a dana or other, should be stamped into housing and just off of the side where the diff is located. Great video and love a good build, and love chevys as well.
I am a new subscriber. I had a 1966 and a 1972 stepside. The 1972 was my favorite. I am looking forward to see this build!
Found your channel by seeing the K5500, nice find. Subscribed and this popped up, let’s just say this is definitely is my style.
Keep with it brah! love da channel!
Wicked fun and educational makes me want to go work on stuff! love it
Too cool man good little rig when finished
Watched your rare 1 of 2 Napco. Then saw cheap date. Like your style and advice, not bad for a young guy in the rebuilding business. Next I subscribed, keep it coming. From an old fart also in Washington.
I love your parts trucks (Suburbans) I had one it was worth redoing but I was young and let it go… I now have a 68 plain jane my 5th one and never letting this go barely any rust… inside kick panels.. but of course I have not removed the rocker panel chrome trim… it’s originally light blue but has a super construction yellow paint on it…(mustard) like this emoji 😂 love what you do..!!!..
Those frikkin slots are worth 300$ each!!! Wow!!
Just found your channel. I'm looking forward to the rest of this build
Just found your channel. Very cool build.
Nice build
I have a 1970 C/10 longed, I was going to restore it when I retired . But I am handicapped now. I had a 454 to put in it,but ended up selling it. So the truck is still sitting in my barn.
LOVE THIS BUILD!!!!
You are pretty lucky to get that engine/transmission and the multiple donor vehicles so cheap.
With the big block, I personally would box the frame .
That burban is still cleaner the half the trucks in Michigan
You might wanna check market place in Kingman AZ...there's a guy selling rustfree truck parts
Love the stepside. Is giving me the drive to go out in the garage and work on my 65 step. What size are your slots and tires you have on your tow rig? I need that exact look for my 85 Sierra c3500 crew cab.
Where do you guys find all those trucks? In the 80s, they were everywhere ..
I love those slotted rims👍🏻.you paid 350 for it to.
I would love to find a truck like that
It rolls. I say it's complete enough. 😅
I want that truck
That crumpled up. Grille makes. For good wall art
Personally, you're budget bill. Just as good as the guy that got the frame next to yours. Right now, couldn't really tell the difference. You're gonna very good job, you should be proud of yourself. I'm a Chevy guy always have been. I love my Chevy's supposed to be older ones. My first crack with the 70s recorder. Turned to wheel drive worst be truck.
What headers are those? they seem to fit really well.
I believe they are flowtechs.. I got them used
Buy a 73 to79 Chevy. C10. For engine front end. Disc power booster seats. ETs keep patina
Rostolian Turbo cans in white. Take 5 cans to pay the entire truck.
I will trade you 1970 Gmc grill forA 1969 Gmc gill, dull head lights blinkers in the grill, lower ends thanks BigAl California.
Frame sitting high can be deceptive added. Weight of sheet metal interior etc will settle. It. Down
That chipped tooth should be all right, unless the whole tooth is cracked.
Change the grille to 71. 72
Take it easy and remove the glass
I know your in wash. Im in north idaho,, you wouldnt have a good ochre 70 chev hood do ya you'd part with do ya 😂? Got a was green now black one id part trade haha. I wasnt the one that painted it black.
I’m sorry, I don’t currently have one.. I sold two ochre nice hoods last year !!
@@GoldCityTrucks all good man, thanks for replaying. I'll find one around here one day, just haven't passed the right farmer yet. Don't wanna paint one cause I like the patina she's got 72k10 350/350.
Just found your channel, I’ve had a lot of these trucks yrs ago, there just so out of reach now money wise
Agree, it can be daunting now trying to get into them.. this video is set to be hope for everyone and to show you can still play them on the cheap with a bit more effort!
@@GoldCityTrucks I found one that’s not to bad but still needs a lot of work. Wants $7000 for it,
