Not really sure but for me, the Zero Gravity Judge kit started it all. The kit is amazing for its value. Solid die-cast frame, tons of details, and its shelf presence is just menacing in a good way.
And evry kit from "Mortor Nuclear", there kits are awesome! I love my "Judge" but my "Bai Qi" has so much more color separation, they both excel. Next kit is going to be "Sky Defender" that kit might just One Up the Judge
About a year ago i also starter building "3rd party" kits, And now its what i build the most, From things like Zero Gravity Judge to Cao Ren from Motor Nuclear. Because what you get for the price is unbelievable. Especially Motor Nuclear, they might be spiky and caused me to bleed couple of times by just touching them, but what is Basically HIRM kit for the price of Cheaper MG is really something not to be missed.
i'm not some bandai purist i've bought bootlegs and even 3d printed my own parts its your hobby and money.... but lets be real if you watch Badnai video on how they make kits from idea to shelf... its obvious why bootlegs can be sold so cheap and why we should keep calling them that imo. at least the straight up copy ones. the originals more power to them
I just ordered it now as I got curious. I just hope that when it arrives and I finished building it, it would not disappoint. Especially as I am trying to return again to this hobby
A lot of the 3rd party kits have mold release laid on pretty thick. So if you paint your kits, you have to commit to making sure every piece is either lightly sanded really well, or to let the pieces soak in some de-greaser for an extended period.
the Solomon is like a MGEX level of quality, lots of great 3rd party kits but as you correctly pointed out, much of it is pretty hit or miss...I also have the MW genesic gaogaigar, it has also a very hefty metal frame and sometimes the plastic would be very brittle and require glue to stick together, not for beginners for sure
I never got any third party kits because they felt a little sus to me and I was scared to try one out but this video is starting to convince me otherwise
I think the second form is supposed to mimic the G06 Mudrock, same leg thrusters and shoulder cannons. This is a dream come true for me because I love the G06
I've built a couple third party, one is the Apocalypse, and the Monument Repair (PG Tallgeese). Would not really recommend the Apoc and the Monument is good, but somewhat difficult as a lot of stuff didn't quite fit. I'm a little wary of third party kits; I would love the Sky Defender with the LED but...ehhhh.
I'm not sure about that kit specifically, but i have built a few third-party mech kits from zero gravity, in era, motor nuclear, and a few others, while occasionally, you will get some that are a fun build still can be a pain(I'm looking at the 1/100 star destroyer a third party amazing exia). Most have been a joy. And a good portion of them are far better than what bandai has produced. Give em a shot, and you may be surprised. I'm currently working on the in era Aurora, and so far, it has been an awesome build.
SNAA is kinda snap fit though. I built the 1/144 and feel it's more like an RG rather than just HG. 1/100 though... I want to try build the Flame Keade from Aether Studio
Just build the kit that started it all, the zero gravity judge, the best out of all of them. It is so good i had it since day 1 of release and i accidentally dropped it from a 2 meters tall shelf. The stand broke, the actual kit dented my floor. I m still shocked
The intro to this video speaks to me. I got into gunpla about a year and a half ago and I've fallen in love with the MG line. Unfortunately I decided to get into gunpla when Bandai seems to care the least about the MG line. I have been looking at these "3rd party" kits on Ali E and they are pretty expensive. Some times much more expensive than official MGs. Does anyone know where I can get them for cheaper?
I got mine from Gundam Central Shop, it's a bit cheaper than AE. Gundamit is another go place to look as well, although they focus more on pre-orders and don't keep much in stock.
This more like a 3rd party Gundam Murdock. The cannons on the back. The Alex type leg thrusters. The Gundam head muzzle with no slits. Then the color scheme except no yellow feet with added shields.
@@xcezz7979 Also bought both because the cost of a Woundwort and 2 Hrududu II from resellers was nutty (Canada, so no direct PBandai access). Mine were incredibly loose, but fixed that with by replacing the Polycaps with leftovers from Bandai kits and thickening a couple pegs/tabs.
@@stevenhirtle7000 i always have a problem w pbandai price, it can be made for a decent kit release glad 3rd party make a copy. i have mk ii titan from bandai when i place it with hazel ii form bootleg i can say the color is close only the plastic is little scratchy. i already order the woundwort psychoblade n rgm spartan, hope it would be available 2 month after this. usually if a filipina order it the same day w indonesia for the same distributors, indonesia will get it more late than any sea region, i guess im fine with that as long the kit is safe
Man... US vendors mark up third-parties/chinese kits like crazy. Some kits are even selling two or three times the original asking price in chinese yuan. Thank goodness my local vendor in SEA priced these fairly, only marked up by a bit.
D: Now this will makes you a war criminal in someone's eye. That said, if you liked this kit you should definitely get Solomon GP02. Its like the recent Zeta Ver Ka except in GP02 form.
Orange Cat Industry and Infinity Nova from my experience. Thou I haven't tried them all, my backlog has Motor Nuclear, The Chaotic Era, ZZA Model, Dianchang Studio, Auldey, Iron Model / Tiechuang Studio, Mecha Core Industry, Soul Vogue and Saying Zone.
its hard to know because unlike western companies a lot of these companies don't give a shit about brands or are understandably very protean in natures (the bootleggers) so you might have like 10 different brand names that are actually just 3 companies operating out of 2 factories and one of the companies holds bootlegs so they create new brands every now and then for some releases
This is not a 3rd party kit. It's a 1st party, original product. 3rd party I'mplies that an entity that is not the 1st party (l.p. owner) is offering the same or similar enough product that it infringes on the 1st parties product, to the 2nd party. This product though may take some slight inspiration from the Sniper II does not nearly infringe on it.
I've done a couple 3rd party kits, namely In Era's Thunderbolt and Howling Star's Nebula. The former is incredible (and massive) but the latter is... a bit shaky in design. Not *bad* but some decisions are confusing. Like, the entire model is made out of ABS, and the connection pegs can be ridiculously tight. I've noticed that a lot of 3rd party kits are all ABS in general, dunno why that is.
ABS is very durable and very cost-efficient. It's why toys rely on on it a lot, like Bandai's G-Frame line is entirely ABS too because it's from the toy division and they're expected to be played with
@@gtf234 Makes sense. Still a point against the nebula though, there were times when I thought the build was just fucked up and cemented pieces together, but no I just didn't push pieces together enough because of how stiff it was lol
My first 3rd party was the Dragon Momoko Deathscythe Hell TV version and I have yet to finish building it because the build is horribly tight so I think I stick to 3rd party accessories or kits that people will swear their life on
Just building my BT saber tiger gold after staying on my backlog for years and my god the plastic is really brittle. I used a lot of super glue just to finish the backpack + weaponry. The pegs also need a lot of filing unless anyone enjoys the white stress mark on the counter-peg. People better stay away from copied design 3rd party. Despite the bad experience with copied design, the same can't be said for some of their 'original' design. I built red ghost kiyomori and have a blast with it. Despite the inner frame is 100% plastic (unless you count the screw) the details are superb and the manual is easy to read. The result kit is rock solid and really satisfying.
This kit is okay, it has a lot of design flaws but as their first product I'll give it a 7/10. The thing I hate the most about Chinese kit manual is that, whenever there's a part with their tenons on the back side, they NEVER flip those parts around, thus you can't see where you're connecting. They never do zoom-ins when they are printing a large size assembly, either, makes it extremely difficult to read.
meanwhile in Japan back in the 80's there are these small and now bankrupt Japanese companies ripping-off Gundam in its heyday and these knock-offs are given the unified nickname "Gangaru", some of the old stock of these kits are still available in shops that sell old retro model kits, warning though the engineering on these kits suck ass even by 80's Bandai standards.
The one bootleg I'm definitely getting is the PG Phenex, you can't get it for a decent price outside of Japan and even when you're in Japan, it is still insanely expensive sadly
i'll say that nowadays bandai can't even keep up with how good the chinese kit are... the last very good kit bandai printed was the rg hi-nu. on the contrary in era aurora zao workshop oracle and the takumy model annichiation were so fun to build with an amazing level of detail. the oracle is the only one who did not have a stand in ms form but is so heavy that i don't think a base will hold it.... all in all it's about one year that i build only bootleg kits and i'm pretty much satisfied except for the daban bootleg that are straight up low quality bandai copy...
Honestly third party isn't that bad of a word like I can see how someone would think it could be a bad word but really it just means a company that isn't associated with the official company when it comes to a type of product I mean just ask hobbyist who collect Transformers figures a lot of them certainly don't think third party is that bad of a word since there's a surprising amount of times where the third party product is even better than the official stuff
It saddens me that Bandai has stopped really putting in the effort to create master grades or putting them behind the P-Bandai overpriced color variant wall with limited production runs... A couple of series never even got them. To be fair the HG line is far more popular and they have come a long way in terms of detail and frame design but for me they're just to small and finicky. So yes China is the answer for better or worse. Quality wise most are on par these days. Exceptions exist like the Star Destroyer (Exia) which is an utter piece of shit that continually falls apart, but it still looks cool.
3rd party... i mean it ain't a Bootleg but it shouldn't really be put in the same sentence with Gunpla like how many of you actually build non Bandai Robot model kits or any of Bandai's NON gundam model kits as a whole? people will call a something that is clearly not a third party or a Bootleg does very things cause it ain't a Gundam
