Yes, but the genesis is a bit iffy. When it comes to inera+. The later ones are much much better. Especially the thunderbolt. But you should look at the tastier from hemoxian. It's quite a package of a kit. And extremely posable. There's also the repair pg talgeese, the in era lizard, the sky defender, heck you could check out the pg optimus prime earth mode.
The iron man and spider man kits are also 6 premium. But it's extremely worth it.

The reason why they are popping off so hard is that non bandai companies realised that there is a market sector filled with people who buy MG's and gunpla not because they are gundam fans, but because they are people who just like cool looking robots with good engineering. That was an untapped niche since almost nobody was making high quality model kits for non gundam kits. There were some for other franchises, but there wasn't really anybody making original designs with MG and above level engineering.
They started experimenting and saw that it sold well (first major mostly original non bandai was probably the zero gravity judge) and they just kept growing from there.

Agreed, the only reason I still hasn't bought any is only because none of the aesthetic sticks with my taste yet.
The moment a good third party simplicistic and mass-produced looking kit shows up, is the moment I jumped ship.

There are non-Bandai Japanese companies making MG-equivalent kits. Good Smile makes a ton of Moderoid kits for more obscure series. And Kotobukiya makes Muv Luv kits as well as their original line. Unfortunately, I don't think either company is quite on par with Bandai when it comes to detail and inner frames.

I'm really happy that third parties are picking up what bandai isn't, but a lot of the designs I've seen are just incredibly kitschy to me. Almost everything I've seen except for the one PG Talgeese-replica looks like super giant robo to me, and I am not a fan of super giant robo. I build GUNpla because I like GUNdam's more miliatry-esque, function-over-form designs. Not to say those cartoony styles can't be found anywhere in gundam or that I straight up hate them, I just prefer the non-cartoony styles (with an exception for G-Fighter, of course). I'm happy for everyone who likes them and I hope they keep getting these 3rd party kits, but it's just not for me style-wise.

Actually get what you mean. There's certain charms on UC designs that what makes the fans prefer the simplicity. Most of chinese mecha design does go overboard a bit and over stylize. As for me, the In Era design is where i'm comfortable with in terms of original mechs between bandai and chinese manufacturers.
I also quite like the Solomon Physalis and Strange Works Tallgeese aside from being technically a bootleg, but definitely better version of Bandai offerings.
And all of this for me personally (i'm from SEA btw) comes from the value and money spent on the kit. For example the In Era Ruling price is lower from the P Bandai Stormbreaker FA. And the Ruling offer so much more in the box compared to the Stormbreaker FA.

    • @WLADDD
      @WLADDD 3 місяці тому +1

@@SOBERABSORBER exactly! I pre-ordered the 1/60 tallgeese for around 130$ since there is no alternative from bandai (talking about the 1/60 scale models) also the bandai version would probably be a lot simpler designed and would cost twice as much, if not more. You just get a lot more mecha for the money you spend.

i built this last year and did get the deluxe version. i used most of the metal parts, mainly in the lower body, which gave it a very hefty and sturdy base. Yet when i used the parts in the arms, i felt they were too tight and might have sheered the pegs off, so i used the plastic ones instead. Now, i had very few issues when transforming it, and it held together without a hitch. i actually posted pics of it on me deviantart account. overall, fantastic model.

If there was a MG kshatriya for example, it would sold out or release a MG Silver Bullet Suppressor/Döven Wolf; grunt suits are always been popular (see zakus or even the GM sniper) but Bandai knows best...

3rd party kits were always give more (full decals, more accessories, sometimes, metal inner frame) for much much less price. The only drawbacks were the quality of the plastics and snap fits. However these days, they are catching up, they are getting much better these days, it's now worth considering.

They're literally flexing with their kits. The last In Era kit I built; the last step was an injection molded dovetail. Never seen that before.

This is the technically the first kit which a collab between Infinite Design and IN Era if i'm not mistaken.
Then it became full IN Era design/series with Ruling, Thunderbolt, Aurora, Trailblazer. The newest in line is Lizard which a collab with Real Minute Design. And the first zeon/sleeve-like design instead of typical feddies/goodguys.
Ruling and Thunderbolt also got special edition color. Its like their own version of P Bandai i guess.

There's a few more from the same company or their sister company IN Era+ after Genesis, namely Trailblazer, Thunderbolt, Ruling, Aurora, and the recently released Lizard, which is a Sazabi-esque spin off. All great builds

The genesis is a nice kit. But I would argue that the future of Gunpla via third party kits is the Einta Industries Sky Defender. Stunning kit and beyond anything that's out there Yes, even even beyond PGU grandaddy. You should definitely check it out and have a review.

    My list goes for this
Einta - Sky def and weapon trident
    Nilson - Monument Repair
In era - Lizard, Aurora is good too
    Snaa - Blue flame
    Vtiger - HiNu
Motor nuclear - grunt units Wei yun white and the camo one.. the main ms were better but its spiky asf
    Ventiene - Apocalypse
    Solomon - Physalis
Hemoxian - Thor, Tastier is better and the upcoming lone shadow.. but i like thor its such a big ass kit
The list goes on actually since lots of 3rd party were popping off lately.. and its a plus for me since i like mg size kits and the fact that this kits were easy to get since i was living in asian country, they were also cheap if comparing price for like bandai kits, kotobukiya etc

You should definitely check out Motor Nuclear's Wei Yuan (either Trainee or Bladefight). They don't have that overly edgy design, they have metal articulation and great detail, with RG pricing on a MG size.

The shoulder parts look like the pilot pods from zoids to me. Speaking of zords, have any opinion on combining a gundam model kit with a zoid kit?
On a side note, do you think Gundam build actually quite harsh on Gundam Wing kits? Most of the time when they ever show a wing Gundam kit, they usually destroy them or they lose. Badly.

  • @kueapel911
    @kueapel911 3 місяці тому

All of those details came with drawbacks, mainly the loose part issues. Sometimes they goes too overboard with the design that it's inevitable for them to have loose parts.
Sometimes I wish for a decently detailed kid but with bandai level of structural integrity. Nothing too fancy like this, but as sturdy as the recent RG kits.

The all plastic build funnily enough is much tighter than the deluxe version. I've seen some chinese reviewers use some kind of white liquid glue? Like what's used to tighten metal build figure joints.
If you want to help the genesis stay strong for long get to 2usd DSPIAE joint strengthener pen which works wonders

Chinese kits are hit or miss since the overly spiky aesthetic is not for everyone, but the Motor Nuclear kits are definitely worth a look and are my favorite brand of Chinese MG-sized kits. For Gundam types, everyone has already mentioned the Solomon Physalis (basically a 3rd party MGEX GP02), and the Eternal Star Glory (we swear it's not the Stargazer, Bandai)

I have Supreme Evolution Glory which is suppose to be Stargazer Gundam's MG equivalent is one I actually admire! 3rd party kits tends to have more spicky details which I'm not fan those, even they're more stunning than Stargazer, but overall other reasons why I'm more attached to adore Glory is that of there's no bandai to produce potential more mg gundam even in the well known franchise... I'd never see bandai would produce STARGAZER GUNDAM anymore as this is my one of my favorite gundam more than Strike Freedom. .
