I really enjoyed the doppelganger from underworld, even though she's a construct and created to obey it's clear she has some of her own thoughts and feelings. I get what people say about her story being completely told in this DLC but I would've liked an extended ending sequence after she was set free and killed Natla. Maybe her out in the modern world taking in the sights and sounds of the city or maybe just going to get some McDonald's - y'know, I'm interested to see WHAT she does with her freedom aside from murder her oppressor. She's actually one TR character aside from Lara I would like to see more of
2 years later.. Well I mean, she's basically a Clone of Lara that has no Flaws.. (No free will, no sense of hesitation and no Hunger, while having incredible stamina to Literally Climb walls like a Jaguar on a tree..) Until Lara gave her Free will.. But there are some things that probably won't continue for a Possible sequel.. err Frequal? Mostly because.. Spoilers for those who didn't finish Anniversary and Legend.. - Lara just found out what happened to her mother, and she only had to Mercy kill her by sending her into the pits again.. - If the alternative ending is Canon, Lara Just ended Madeline for trying to kill her and Now Lara has to Probably pay to Rebuild her Mansion.. - She also just decides to Destroy all of her Father's Work on the mystery of Atlantis because of the horrible truth it came with and the Risk it would cause for humanity... - The Doppelganger has no quarrel with Lara anymore since it's free to do its own thing.. and it doesn't look like it wants revenge on lara, but on Natline... So here's the question.... What happens to Lara Now?
Imagine if they continued on with the shadow instead of the reboot. Lara's story ended with underworld, but the shadows had only just begun. This could have been so good... :/
To think I had waited a decade to see these two exclusive DLCs is insane. I'm so happy I finally got to experience this on my replay of TRU after all these years. Shame this trilogy was never continued and was rebooted yet again. I want to know what happened next to the doppelganger. Thank you very much for this video because this DLC is a gem. Would have been even better if it had subtitles because some lines are just way too difficult to understand, luckily I found a video with subs so I just checked what was said there :D
Agreed, though the writers have written themselves into a corner with the doppelganger character. What was there left for her to do? Given her ghastly appearance, she'd probably never fit into society and I can't imagine her working as a secretary in the real world. I doubt Lara would keep her supernatural twin around... there really wasn't much for her to do once Underworld ended. The reboot was unnecessary though, they could've just started a new adventure that wouldn't involve Lara's parents or familiar enemies from her past. Instead, Crystal Dynamics decide to reboot the games again just so they can tell the same old trash story about Lara's daddy issues.

I would pay to see that. Her trying to find herself/looking for a purpose, while at the same time battling new creatures from the underworld and learning about different mythologies. Her being extremely unimpressed at the bravado of all these long-forgotten gods because of what she experienced. She was essentially the creation of a former queen who couldn't let go of her power and whereas Lara would probably eat that shit up, her Doppelgänger would be like "no thanks, bye". She is just so much more interesting to me than any new TR game as her personality is so different from Lara's. Sorry if this didn't make any sense at all, English is not my first language. Sabrina Na Fair enough, a doppelganger spin-off sounds like a cool idea (certainly better than the Lara Croft co-op series) though I really don’t see it as a realistic AAA title. One Lara is enough imo, there’s no need to put out games with another “Lara” that uses Devil May Cry/Bayonetta-esque gameplay. I did like the character, mostly because she was cooler and less uninhibited than Crystal’s version of Lara (she reminded me of the original Core Design Lara), but yeah - to me, her story was pretty much told and finished in the DLC. I’d much rather Crystal/Eidos Montreal or whoever is developing the games now attempt to get Lara’s character right because that whiny annoying girl in the reboots is not it. Shadow of Tomb Raider killed any remainders of excitement I had for the franchise.

I’m glad I get to play the Doppelgänger’s side of the story and realizing how bad she felt for what she did to Lara, her family, and home taking it all back in revenge against Natla and fixing the relationship between Lara and the Doppelgänger is really well put together I really love the crystal dynamics Tomb Raider better than any other games ahead
This is the coolest thing in any tomb raider game, and I am quite shocked that they never made a spin off for Shadow Lara, as the DLC is better than the main game.

Only now have I played this for the first time in 13 years and I've known Lara for like my whole life, passed all the games but never this one and Beneath the ashes... It's amazing that what they put behind a DLC had some better story, gameplay and historical setting than most of the games nowadays. Just, it's a shame that you had to pay real money for it, and these mass companies constantly keep profiting out of us... Remastering older Tomb Raider games and continuing the story should be considered in the future definitely, not only does it have a tale to tell but a rollercoaster of emotions and, just that, some mystical feeling behind all of it like, you could get some real knowledge from this games.

She didn't command her. The doppleganger asked Lara what Lara would do, because it's the same she would do, which is kill Natla. Lara realised this, and told her to make sure she suffered, knowing full well what she wanted to do.
This should be on playstation too, and I want a sequel where we see how Lara and her doppelganger working together as besties I like them both now and they could both kick Amanda's ass because she'll try to go after Lara again let's face it.

Quite funny to see people surprised by this content cause it was an exclusive Xbox console-only DLC all along. Many people did not know anything about it or Beneath the Ashes, except for hardcore fans or people who kept up with the game. This is by far one of the coolest and most essential experiences any Tomb Raider fan should have as a treat. It's quite limited and would have been much better if they included the fight scene with Lara or the mission to explode the mansion... but hey, the Shadow powers are the dopest and worth getting a an Xbox 360 (or ONE since it includes retrocompatibitlity), purchase TRU disc for nothing (can be found for very cheap, like 2€ even) and this for 10 bucks and it's totally worth it! It's so different and very satisfying.

BUT..Natla couldn’t get into Helheim because she didn’t have Thors hammer. The doppelgänger also appeared on the ship in the Andaman sea..BEFORE Natla and Lara went to Helheim.. Playing as doppelganger is really enjoyable, now I fully completed Underworld. A pity both the DLC aren't available in my country. Sure we can buy these in another country xbox live, like US or Mexico, but the point remains. Played it by emulating on PC though.
Make an American Xbox live account and buy them, you'll just have to lug around that account forever to play the dlcs. It's what I had to do since they weren't available for purchase here in Vietnam.
There used to be a disc version of this bundled with beneath the ashes but it's impossible to find now. You can still buy and download these from the store thankfully.
After I played the Lara's Shadow on Xenia emulator (canary branch if you are interested), I fully realized that "survivor trilogy" is a total shit with no fresh ideas. Just clone of Far Cry (not Uncharted. Uncharted is completely linear and has a great scene setting), but with terrible story, effects from Indian films and stupid tender soy girl as a main character, nothing more. I really miss Classic and LAU Lara. And Doppelganger. I'm happy that Crystal Dynamics decided to remaster the original trilogy (I-III) but we really need a remakes of original series (especially Angel of Darkness) and updated version of Underworld (either remaster or remake) with both DLC. Lara Croft deserves a better attitude towards herself than she has now. And, please, don't search the "tomb raider reloaded" if you don't want to disappoint yourself.
I wish my playstation needs to install my PS3 disc in Tomb Raider: Underworld, it should have been it….. Tomb Raider, Underworld: Lara's Shadow And Tomb Raider, Underworld: Beneath The Ashes And I would continue to play all by myself. I'm talking about my PS3, not Xbox. I'm serious

A quick scroll in this comment session'd show anyone what the publisher had to do with the IP. Even another reboot a la super-hero movies would do the trick. Yet they seem to have gotten the message through a mirror of sorts, because they did a hell of an U-turn from what the fans expected. The new Lara is an embarassment to the IP. Lara now seems to have bipolar disorder, the VA talks through the nose, side-characters have nothing to contribute, antagonists are generic goons that are mean because "reasons", there's way too much shooting and killing, and she "hates tombs". Lara. Hates. Tombs. Just to name a few. Until they keep doubling-down hiring the same hackjobs writing the scripts for the last three games, they won't get a fraction of what they could bank respecting the franchise's legacy and fans. At least the art direction and level design was great for what they were given to work with.

Köszi a végigjátszást! Az Underworld DLC-k egész jók. Jó ötlet volt a készítőktől ez az alternatív vég. Ezek szerint a Doppelganger még él. Behozhatták volna a Shadow of the Tomb Raiderbe. Érdekesebb lett volna.
Quite funny to see people surprised by this content cause it was an exclusive Xbox console-only DLC all along.
Many people did not know anything about it or Beneath the Ashes, except for hardcore fans or people who kept up with the game.
This is by far one of the coolest and most essential experiences any Tomb Raider fan should have as a treat.
It's quite limited and would have been much better if they included the fight scene with Lara or the mission to explode the mansion... but hey, the Shadow powers are the dopest and worth getting a an Xbox 360 (or ONE since it includes retrocompatibitlity), purchase TRU disc for nothing (can be found for very cheap, like 2€ even) and this for 10 bucks and it's totally worth it!

BUT..Natla couldn’t get into Helheim because she didn’t have Thors hammer. The doppelgänger also appeared on the ship in the Andaman sea..BEFORE Natla and Lara went to Helheim.. So how could she have been born in Helheim? see what I mean? 🤔

Playing as doppelganger is really enjoyable, now I fully completed Underworld.
A pity both the DLC aren't available in my country. Sure we can buy these in another country xbox live, like US or Mexico, but the point remains. Played it by emulating on PC though.
Make an American Xbox live account and buy them, you'll just have to lug around that account forever to play the dlcs. It's what I had to do since they weren't available for purchase here in Vietnam.

There used to be a disc version of this bundled with beneath the ashes but it's impossible to find now. You can still buy and download these from the store thankfully.

After I played the Lara's Shadow on Xenia emulator (canary branch if you are interested), I fully realized that "survivor trilogy" is a total shit with no fresh ideas. Just clone of Far Cry (not Uncharted. Uncharted is completely linear and has a great scene setting), but with terrible story, effects from Indian films and stupid tender soy girl as a main character, nothing more.
I really miss Classic and LAU Lara. And Doppelganger. I'm happy that Crystal Dynamics decided to remaster the original trilogy (I-III) but we really need a remakes of original series (especially Angel of Darkness) and updated version of Underworld (either remaster or remake) with both DLC. Lara Croft deserves a better attitude towards herself than she has now.
And, please, don't search the "tomb raider reloaded" if you don't want to disappoint yourself.

i felt stupid when i knew that there were two more chapiters Xbox fucking exclusive like what the hell !!!! A quick scroll in this comment session'd show anyone what the publisher had to do with the IP. Even another reboot a la super-hero movies would do the trick. Yet they seem to have gotten the message through a mirror of sorts, because they did a hell of an U-turn from what the fans expected.
The new Lara is an embarassment to the IP. Lara now seems to have bipolar disorder, the VA talks through the nose, side-characters have nothing to contribute, antagonists are generic goons that are mean because "reasons", there's way too much shooting and killing, and she "hates tombs". Lara. Hates. Tombs. Just to name a few.
Until they keep doubling-down hiring the same hackjobs writing the scripts for the last three games, they won't get a fraction of what they could bank respecting the franchise's legacy and fans. At least the art direction and level design was great for what they were given to work with.

Another thing that drives me insane - Tomb Raider 2013 TELLS you when you get to SECRET tombs! Like, am I playing as tomb raider or not? Let me EXPLORE!!! Let me find it out myself! (If this is a feature, that you can turn off in settings, still awful idea. It would be better, if this option was turned off and then, if you want to, you can turn it on. If it's not a feature and it just exists - that's far worse)
About other games - never played, never will, I don't want to torture myself, I better replay old games!
