I played anniversary thousand times before but i just realized lara went on a snowy mountain with no sleeves and a skimpy short. Does she have thermal underwear? Lol
they had to be true to the original, in which she only wore an extra poncho at the introductory FMV animation. either way it was absurd. they changed some additional absurdities like whan she cuts off that rope she was grabbing, instead of just letting go. and the dialogues were improved. still, I didn't manage to enjoy this game a bit of the original.
I really liked the fact that they emphasized she didn't like killing and she only did it when she had to. In the 2nd and 3rd game, the original characrter was lost.
Legend and Underworld play MUCH MUCH later. They play after all the events of the classic Tomb Raiders II - V. Maybe even AoD, even though in my head canon this game doesnt exist :D cause that was the only game I never finished. I couldnt stand it.
@@iracingtf5051 Anniversary - Legends - Underworld were a soft reboot. Techincally the 2013 was the second reboot, because in the legends trilogy tomb raider 2 to 5 were retconned. In Legends/Underworld in Lara's manor there's no dagger of Xi'an, for example, meaning the events of Tomb Raider 2 never happened, or that Lara's home is the Croft-Abbington manor, instead of the Lara's auntie's house instead of the Abbington-Croft manor, like in the OG trilogy. However, in Rise of the tomb raider, while Lara is searching for the prophet's tomb, she does from an apartment, as it stated she did her studies in the OG trilogy, and she had a family household that wasn't the Abbington-Croft manor, but in this case it was Ana's home (Richard Croft's second wife) instead of Lara's auntie, and among her books, there's a book that reads "The legend of the dragon of Xi'an". Lara is already looking for that, which means in the reboot trilogy the OG Tomb Raider events are YET to happen.
I believe that during the outro of this game, when they show her looking at her hand for the last time, it was to show that she was shedding her aversion to killing other people. (And she would need to -- most of the enemies in TR2 are human)

I don't agree that much on her personnality, but just about Legend. ^^ I was mostly talking about the fact that the behavior of classic Lara from Core have been distilled into the Legend's Lara in a very smart and creative way in the writing. The sarcasm, irony, and constant light mood (less there in Anniversary) make easely think for a lot of fans, of Tomb Raider 1, for exemple, Toby Gard being present for the writing of these episodes, these are common traits during his presence. So in a sense, "behaviorally", I pointed the fact that it was almost dealing with the same Lara and so, a good legacy. ^^ But you're right about biographies and motivations. (And the artefacts from the Legend trilogy (Leg/Und.) had the almost the same practical power as guns in the contrary of the Core saga, it was easy to Lara to consider to used them to her advantage. Transforming into a dragon is not practical at all. Haha. ^^) :)
6:46 I always wondered why there was no follow up to Qualopec rising from his throne. Is he just trapped there under the ruins of his temple now? 12:46 Tihocan’s body was missing from his tomb too. I thought for the anniversary remake it would’ve been a good payoff to see the both if them at the pyramid as a boss fight, enslaved by Natla once she got full control of the Scion.
In mythology, Atlantis is said to have been lost beneath the ocean. TR1 Natla thinks that Atlanteans had become weak and so she uses the scion for genetic experiments to enhance the Atlantean race but is stopped by Tihocan and Qualopec. Atlanteans go extinct as they lack the ability to evolve quickly enough to survive after Atlanis is lost. Natla wants to use the scion to eradicate humanity and rebuild Atlantean supremacy over Earth. In TRA, Natla desires to trigger the seventh age, which is revealed in Underworld to be Ragnarok, where the world is destroyed by fire and ash and great floods. According to Norse mythology, after Ragnarok the world resurfaces fresh and renewed and ready for new life. Natla was attempting to basically reboot the world after Atlantis was destroyed in the mythological disaster that caused its disappearance. I assume that Natla would then raise her army of Atlantean monsters and start rebuilding her ancient civilisation. The seventh age is the epoch following Ragnarok.
@@tacosmexicanstyle7846 didn't Natla ruin the Atlantis civilazation by releasing the army with Scion's power? At 18:12 Tihocan mentions that and I'm not sure if that means that she brought the Atlantean civilization to an end or it was some unknown cathaclismic disaster
Randomist Honestly Natla’s motivations in TRA are not as well explained as in TR1, I don’t really know why Crystal didn’t reuse Natla’s obsession with natural selection. I assume that Natla used the scion in TRA to unleash an army against Tihocan and Qualopec as part of a military coup as they would not agree to start the 7th age. In mythology, the Gods destroyed Atlantis after Athens defeated the Atlantean navy-the Gods thought Atlantis was too weak. Natla says ‘the Gods favour action, not counsel’ indicating that perhaps they would destroy Atlantis and end the triumvirate rule if they did not take action to strengthen the civilisation. Natla thinks she can do this via triggering Ragnarok and resetting the world. But it takes three to rule, and Tihocan and Qualopec won’t help her do it. This is possibly why Natla manipulates Amanda and Lara into helping her uncover Helheim; together they make three-Lara has the hammer, Natla has the ritual, and Amanda digs Natla out from the ruined Pyramid and helps her get to Helheim.
