- Since the release of the original game back in 1996 the Tomb Raider franchise has expanded into 3 different timelines across 12 games, 6 spin-offs, and near-on a library of books and comics. To date, the iconic adventure franchise has rebooted itself 3 times, and current developer Crystal Dynamics has even stated that future games will look to unify the timelines… somehow. And with a new animated series launching soon and the promise of another mainline game, there’s no better time to dive into the lore of Tomb Raider than now.

I like Lara Croft OG but there is something extremely special when it comes to the Legend Lara (not the legend trilogy Lara, only the Legend Lara)... Her voice, her design, her character... Pure perfection! I love Legend Lara.
Legend Lara are my favourite timeline and one of my childhood series. I remember playing a little bit of TR1 but that was using my sister's friend PS1 console. But then i grew up with Legend Lara and i love it.
You could have also mentioned that in the Survivor Trilogy, Conrad Roth from the 2013 game was Lara's mentor, similar to Werner Von Croy from the original games.
And there was an initial attempt by the developers to unite the Survivor series with the original series by including a post-credits scene in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, where Lara received a letter from Natla, but this scene was later removed by the developers.
Wait, she was only 14 when she went to the haunted island? and edios made her try and pull her shirt off? Oh god no stop it!
For me TR 1,2,3 remastered and TR4 as a dlc in April 2024 ? are still the best four Tomb Raiders ever made !

It’s simple.
Classic tomb raider is like a cryptic crossword or game of chess.
New tomb raider is like uno or connect 4.
High iq people with good hand eye coordination who can play snooker would choose classic.
Unskilled gamers with no skill in any sport let alone any video games would choose new Lara.
If we get a TR4/Chronicles/AOD remaster it won’t be with us until 2025 at the earliest lol

Interestingly I was first introduced to Lara Croft through The Angel of Darkness.. as a kid it was too difficult for me to play, and too scary, but I still loved the little experience I had with it. I attempted Legend and absolutely fell in LOVE. To this day Legend is my favorite. The perfect combination of old school from older games and fluidity that comes with newer games, an absolute CLASSIC.
I have an edit. Loved the video, so sorry to point this out, BUT... in TR III in the Croft Manor training level Lara has the Iris from TLR and Chronicles in her trophy room. When you leave the level she says "Now it's time for our third adventure." This places TR III after the events of the Von Croy levels in Chronicles. To be fair, it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense as to why she'd have the Iris before it was officially shown in TR canon, but it's something to consider about the OG timeline.

I'm so sure I played the OG Tomb Raider games on PC when I was a young teen, but I'm realizing while watching this video that I completely blocked out the mad stories in those games.

I am playing through TR4 now. Jean Yves has been kidnapped, but Lara hasn't put any armour on Horus yet. You sure you got that order right?

I loved Legend Trilogy but it was a little too easy, even on the hardest difficulties.
Loved the story in Legend, but there was no challenge.
But I absolutely loved unlocking all the outfits and cinematic playbacks, models, and character bios.
Underworld was a bit more difficult especially finding all the secrets.
I love Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise.
They all have their flaws and their merits, but I am glad that it is not a series that would be forgotten, and am grateful that there are still games being made.

The only Tomb Raider titles i've ever played are the last 3: Tomb Raider the Reboot, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, got to play them in December 2021 when Epic Games gave the trilogy for free.
Me too and I loved them all. I’ve been thinking of getting the remastered OG trilogy but idk, I’m just not use to that type of graphics and the blocky look.
@@MalachiPlaysGamesthe modern controls are amazing. They are fixed and it plays really well. Just know it’s less story and more gameplay focused. You could almost sell it as a Tomb Raider Simulator 96. But I can vouch for the modern controls. And it looks really amazing and keeps adding updates to make gameplay and visuals stunning

I never knew that the booklet to the original game spoke about Lara's plane accident when she was little, I guess that's what Crystal Dynamics used as a base for Legend. I wish the screenshot of it in the video wasn't blurred out. What a relic that must be indeed!
Tomb Raider The Last Revelation is Still my favorite game in the entire franchise, it was and still is the hardest game in the series.

I played TR1-3 back when they were released in the 90's, absolutely loved them but missed out on the last revelation and the legend timeline. I started to play the survivor trilogy and I absolutely love it. I now played TR4 and will play all titles onwards. Btw. I absolutely love the looks of her in 2013's Tomb Raider and they completely butchered her looks on the other titles. She doesn't look the same and looks why to "soft". Not like Lara Croft.

The classics are iconic in the world of games, the Legend phase of Tomb Raider was a big leap, the Anniversary remake of Tomb Raider was perfect, in the reboot Lara Croft became Rambo, I hope that in the next games they will return to the origins of the saga.

Thumb down because of a lot of mistakes :/ For example: The adventure in Ireland takes place AFTER Cambodia, in both trips she was 16 years old, not 14. And New York Episode from TR5 takes place BEFORE TR3, not after.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the best of all trilogy but the best are TR 1,2,3 remastered, 4,5,6 and Anniversary, Legend and Undergraund.

They ruined tomb raider , the new ones anyway not the remastered versions, by creating an open world dynamic opposed to the fantastic puzzle esque challenge that the OG games gave us that were full of atmosphere , challenges and I could play them for hours and hours , never getting bored.
Does anyone know if the tomb raider ps1 games on ps3 come with the dlc originally released on pc?
The 3 remastered that recently have been released does.
The PS3 versions are just the ps1 games with no changes and no dlc.
The dlc was pc exclusive back in the day

Tr1 would be way before chronicles
She really does go from being her own woman to having parental angst. Not that the legends timeline is all that bad, but it was still off-putting for me. And then the survivor timeline just made it worse...
I just hate that they dropped the sassy look in the survivor series. Not only that .... in shadow of tomb raider. lara's character shape is goofy. if you pay a tiny attention. the head is too big. the neck is too muscular & thick. the shoulders are narrow. it just doesnt match. they need to fix it Lol.
I like the last revelation the best but i like the shadow of tomb raider for ease of gameplay although i miss trying to figure out the earlier games graphics that have to be sorted out.
