I love that they operate off of batteries looking forward to the update on these. Mostly curious about playback, it seems like these are mostly for live surveillance.

They're actually less for live viewing. It's mostly for seeing motion clips on your phone or tablet. That's how the battery lasts so long. It goes to standby when theres no motion. It's good though.

Rick we've had Blink for years . I think they are XT ? lots of free storage on the older ones. They are great . I heard the newer cameras require a fee for storage now though... bummer. We didn't mount ours... we just set them up and when we come home we put them face down so hackers can't watch us. ha ha. Funny story, we set ours up on our kitchen counter and watched mice come up thru the stove and play all over the mouse trap like it was a jungle gym.
