I have 4 cameras outside my home on all four corners of my home for 4 years now:
Just FYI: These outdoor cameras are weatherproof.
    Water proof.
    Sun proof.
    Rain
    Snow
    Ice
    WORK GREAT!
No bad weather will damage these cameras.
NO NEED TO PUT A ROOF OVER THEM

I did pretty much the same thing about 5 months ago. I bought 5 Reolink Go PT's for hunting purposes. I found out about them from another UA-cam video by huntingfarmer. He gave a great video demonstration on them. What I done different was this, I taped off the lens and solar panel face and painted them hunter green for the woods. Then I took a treated 2x6x18 inch board. Mounted the solar panel at the top and the camera at the bottom. I then cut up some heavy duty straps that I had from safety harnesses and old trail cams and mounted them at center point on the board (which put the strap in between the camera and solar panel). Drilled and bolted the strap to the board. I can now use the whole thing like it's one larger trail camera. I just put the strap around the tree and pull it tight. I put them about 7-8 feet up a tree and they're out of sight. They work great and I love them.wish I could post a picture of one finished. They look great.

If you're on the no list, they won't ask to look. Additionally if you have cameras on your property and commit a crime, regardless of the vendor or even if self hosted, they will get a warrant for the footage. Not providing that footage is basically admittance of guilt. The only work around would be not saving footage or having a policy that prunes the footage after a few days so by the time the request comes to you, you no longer have the data.

Have had my Reolink cameras on my Missouri farm property for two years. For the most part they work great. Occasionally they have connectivity issues but that is due to the SIM card provider. We are currently building a new home and I attached 95lb magnets on my camera and solar panel and this enabled me to just mount it on my outbuilding anywhere I wanted pointing towards the home construction. This way we can keep an eye on materials at all times considering the price of lumber these days. Great Cameras!

I've got another brand of camera, but what they have in common with the ones SRF:s got is the highly visible white color of their casings. So the very first thing I did was to spray paint mine flat black, so they are much more stealthy. This is important to me as I have mounted my cameras lower to the ground in order to get highly identifiable facial images. I have also deployed some strategically placed, innocuous (but shiny) objects in proximity to my cameras to make intruders look up in their direction and maybe even pause for a nice head shot, but still not notice the cameras themselves. This way I hope to avoid intruders noticing my cameras before they come close enough to be identified by them. Because if they do, there are three scenarios that may follow. First is the good one, where they see the cameras and simply decide not to go any further and go away for good. The second is that they choose another path in, one that isn't covered by my cameras. The third is that they retreat, disguise their faces, and then walk in...

I just bought this a month ago. You don't need a cell service. You can run it on wifi and it also works by putting a mini SD card into it (when the wifi cuts out it will still record on the card). The solar panel keeps the battery topped off most days. Battery hasn't gone below 92%, but is mostly 100%. It's a great camera. There also is a free cloud option that sends video to the cloud when connected. I used the strap to hang it. I didn't use the board. I also hung the solar panel with foam on the back to angle it toward the sun.

Love it. Just a little thought on the power cord where it plugs into the camera. It will be in the weather a long time. So once you have it mounted and plunged in run a very small bead of silicone exterior sealant up and over the top where it plugs into the Camera make a small hood to guard against water and moisture past the plug to the unit leave a small opening at the very base of the plug do rain and moisture can weep out of the bottom of the plug and dry out. So moisture can't get locked in behind your plug

I needed something like this for a problem I had with illegal activities on a remote part of my property. The problem is this would have stuck out to much. I bought a $30 weatherproof enclosure and stuck the camera inside of the enclosure, I then cut about a 5x5 inch square in the front and put some grey wire mesh over the opening. I put the solar panel flat on top of the enclosure so it couldnt be seen. The antenna I went with one mounted to the top of the enclosure as well and was a low profile antenna that looks like a small can. Luckily the activity was happening where telephone (not power) lines crossed my property. I took my cherry picker out and mounted it about 20 feet up on the pole, stuck some caution stickers on the front of it and watched the show for weeks. They never suspected for a minute they were being watched the whole time.

    Reolink are pretty good.
They are >really< visible to people who are looking for them though. A few minutes masking off the lens and spray painting them in green/grey/black primer, and shoving a few twigs around the base would make the world of difference.
Also better to just hide these inside a bird box, anything that sticks out can be lassoed and pulled down, then they have your $300 dollar camera.
Personally I'd have tied into your gate solar panel, and then run a wireless bridge data link back to the video recorder in your house.
Run some tests at night and make sure you can read a car's numberplate, the battery camera models don't always have the high power infrared of the POE versions

I figured out how to make one of these before watching this video..I wanted to put my similar type solar panel camera on my awning post out front in my front yard...
So I didn't have to drill holes on my wall with vinyl sidings . It also affords me a much better view of my surroundings taking advantage of the 360 panning with tilt.
i.e. I can pan it to face the house if I want to....albeit a bit close. My camera needs to be connected to my wi-fi for it to function. My awning posts are metal bars with the S
shape decoratives in between so I made my pod with a deep 1 inch wide gap in between so it can straddle the "S" ..and I further secured it by drilling a couple of holes on the board
and tying zip ties through them to the post.

Pretty sure it's more like phasing out 3G and having 4G and 5G service at the same time. It would make no sense to cut off all the 4G subscribers who are probably 90% of a carriers users. Only the newest and higher end phones have 5G built into them at this time. By the time 4G get's rolled out, these cameras will be useless, broken and need replacing, and 5G will finally be standard on small internet of things (IOT) such as these cameras.
