Verity lambert, the name in memory at the end. Was not only the 1st Producer/creator of doctor who, as she run the show from 1963-1965. But she was the first EVER female producer in the BBC. If it weren't for her, we wouldn't have doctor who
When you realise that Tennants childhood hero would become his father in law and his wife would act as his daughter on Tv. Crazy.
That "skinny idiot" is technically his future son in law at this point. Spends the whole episode insulting David only to end up being stuck with him as a member of his family! Its quite funny!
When the Doctor told the Doctor the he was "his Doctor", you said that gave you chills. That's because you felt the truth in it. That was not a "line". That was David Tennent telling Peter Davison that he was "his Doctor." My Doctor is the 4th, Tom Baker. And yes, seeing Time Crash as is was released was truly mind-blowing.
Yeah it's such a genuine line and you really feel Tennent's love for Davison's era, I also love the fact that Peter Davison is not only Ddavid Tennent's origional Doctor but is also of course now his father in law.

Peter Davidson is the 5th Doctor. He is also David Tennant's father in law, which happened after this was filmed.
When you get close to the 50th anniversary special (a while off yet) there are some one off episodes to watch ahead of time. One is a comedy set in real life where the actors who play the 5th, 6th and 7th Doctors try and get a part in the special.

I fell in love with Astrid Peth played by Kylie Minogue, and was so hopeful that she was going to be The Doctor's new companion.
At the time she appeared in this she was one of the most famous women on the planet so everyone pretty much knew there was no way she was surviving this episode. That it was definitely a one off

So, yes, you've met the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, who is David Tennant's father-in-law - and, to slightly confuse things, Peter's birth name is Peter Moffett - He chose Davison to avoid being confused with another actor. Give it a while and you'll see Peter's daughter, Georgia, in the series. Her mother is the American-born-and-raised British actress, Sandra Dickinson, who played Trillian in the BBC TV Series Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
While it would have been great to take Astrid along as a companion, realistically, it was never going to happen given that the character was played by international pop superstar Kylie Minogue...
This is my favourite christmas episode. Kylie would have been amazing as a companion. She's a famous Aussie actress/singer and had way too many schedule conflicts for it work. And Wilfred, RIP.
Geoffrey Palmer, who played the Captain, was more known for his light comedy than for serious drama. To see him holding - and firing - a gun was a shock in itself.
I look at him and I think of sausages. They played big roles in his best scenes of Fawlty Towers AND As Time Goes By
Several people have mentioned this is the Fifth Doctor (earlier) and Tennant's father-in-law (later), but I just want to mention that Peter Davison (no second D) recently made a guest appearance on _Good Omens_ (a show you might want to react to if you haven't yet -- haven't looked into your non-Who reactions yet).
Kylie Minogue was the companion in this. Outside the United States, she’s as famous as Madonna or Britney Spears. Check out some of her music videos on UA-cam, like “Come Into My World” or “Cant Get You Outta My Head” or “Slow.” 🎶✨

Love the mini episode time crash, It was specially made for children in need, an annual charity event where sometimes tv programmes do specially made comedy sketches for charity. This was great to see peter davison return as the 5th doctor. He was the doctor from 1982-1984. Please check out the classic doctor who honest trailer

I’m so happy that you’re considering watching Sarah Jane Adventures! It was one of my favourite shows growing up; Elisabeth Sladen and the kids in it are all fantastic. That’s not a character line, Peter Davison WAS David Tennant’s Doctor when he was watching the show.
Tennant's Doctor was Tom Baker, he said so in Confidential of episodes with Sarah Jane. Davison was Moffat's Doctor.

@@zeallust8542 Not true. Peter Davison was definitely my Doctor. I was introduced to Doctor Who while in university in the 80's by my then boyfriend (now husband of 37 years). I started watching near the end of Baker's era, so Davison was the first Doctor I saw from the beginning and he ended up being my favourite, only equaled by Matt Smith.

In say this is my favorite Christmas Special over all. It made me Smile and Cry, plus with a lot of camos Russell Tovey, Clive Rowe, Jimmy Vee, and the late Bernard Cribbins

When The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) tells The Fifth Doctor he was his Doctor he was David Tennant's personal favourite Doctor growing up watching that was Tennant acting as himself for abit then eventually ended up being Peter Davison's son-in- law.
Kylie Minogue was an Australian singer and actress best known for Charlene Mitchell in australian soap "Neighbours" and as Cammy in the hit 1994 movie "Street Fighter".
I agree Astrid would had made a great companion but Minogue didn't want to be committed to a full series.
I like the choice of the name for Astrid - it means starlight and at the same time it is an anagram of the word Tardis.
For those who are on this journey with Jay and unfamiliar with Classic Who. Peter Davidson was the 5th Doctor and a favourite of David Tennant. David starred in an episode "The Doctor's Daughter" (still to come) with Peter's daughter, Georgia. She later became his wife. Try to work that out in the Whoniverse 😂🥰

Sarah jane adventures was aimed at a younger audience but I'm 31 and still enjoy them lol I look forward to it and time crash was funny and even funnier when you think how David meets Peter Davisons on set soonish when it was filmed and they're married and I'm sure I saw an interview where David said Peter was his doctor that he watched on TV when he was young so that line where he says that in time crash feels like it came from his heart he must have been in awe acting with him

Having loved slightly older British TV shows it was great to see the actors who played Richard, on Keeping Up Appearances, and Lionel, from As Time Goes By. PLUS Kylie Minogue. Also this started my crush on Russell Tovey. Great episode.

I love how the filmed the old seasons of doctor who near where I live. They don’t as much with the newer seasons. But when they go to visit earth that’s my city centre. Live like 15 minutes from it. They filmed a lot in the city centre.

My first big celebrity crush was Kylie Minogue, I loved seeing her in this. Incidentally she had to get forklift certified to drive the forklift in this.

Keep in mind that most of the crew on Doctor Who, including the showrunner Russell T Davis, were Doctor Who fans, and like David, grew up watching Peter Davison as the 5th Doctor. Russel said that when Peter walked on the set for filming, they all went into total "fanboy" mode! They still had the 5th's original costume, but Peter admitted that they had to "let out" the trousers at the waist since he gained weight over the years!!
so when David said "You were my doctor" he really meant it! He grew up with the 5th doctor. He said on set "If my 15 year old self could only see this...And the previous 4 doctors, in general were much more serious.
Bring back Christmas episodes , it's always one of the treats for my family to look forward too

You were my doctor.... Peter Davidson was playing the dr when david was a kid hence he was his dr... also happened to be his favourite doc of all time.... so yeah he was a fan. You really should check out some vintage dr who ;)
