RIP Bernard Cribbins (Wilfred) he was an amazing part of Doctor Who
Not only was he an amazing part of Doctor Who, he WILL be!
he managed to act in the new doctor with Tennant!
i have heard he has a part in the 60th and im glad of that 🥰
I think of all the actors in Doctor Who he pulled the most tears from me.
it killed me when wilf said "i'll die too someday" and the doctor said "don't you dare"
Also the "four knock" twist was INSANE
It was!
Donna's new name is Donna Temple-Noble. Donna means Lady. Temple is from the latin root meaning Time. And a Noble is a Lord. Donna Temple-Noble = Lady Time Lord. The Doctor Donna.
whoa! I never knew that! That's brilliant!
Been a doctors who fan since I was a child in 2005 and I never knew this!! Thankyou
@@aaronlaffitte6846 I've been a Whovian since I started watching too. I was 11. 1985.
Donna means lady where in what language?
Italian (again, a latin root) @@allenpayne927
With Bernard Cribbins (Wilfred) actually being gone makes all of his scenes hurt so much more 😢
Oh heck yeah
And didn't he also appear in one of the 1960's Doctor Who movies?
literally seeing him cry sEnt me
Forget about Oscars and baftas and your hard hitting emotional dramas etc... Because that scene with Wilf and the doctor in the cafe hit me as hard as anything . And I've been flawed by some ❤ Sweet old bernie 01.40
It was a sad moment when this first aired and the whole build-up was caused by Wilfred. "He will knock 4 times" was in reference not to the Master but Wilfred all along who would be the cause of the Doctor's death by the Doctor saving Wilfred. It was a real punch in the gut to those who thought at that moment David Tennant's Doctor would survive and be back next season.
A 'death' from kindness.
and most certainly a close contender for the heaviest gut punches alongside the RAVEN.
not the episode accessories, but just what the RAVEN is meant to be ...
When the narrator transforms from third person observer to a player in the story it makes you rethink everything else he said. The spitting ferocity and peril.
I love how you leaped out of your chair when the doctor pulled a gun on the timelord president 😂
I don't know if you caught the little bit where Micky says "This is no place for a married woman " and Martha responds "Then you shouldn't have married me" I love that they ended up together.
Just saw pt 2 last night and the end was amazing, not just Martha but everyone who the Doctor was with since Series 1...touching.
MVP to Murray Gold music. Check out the Lockdown Choir rendition of Vale Decem. My gosh what an amazing piece of music for the end of Ten.
could've gone without knowing about this 😭
Congrats on finishing the Tenth Doctor era Jay. What a ride it was!! :) :)
To me this is still the best regeneration honnestly so far .... So sad and so epic and while he didn't have a big speech like the other doctors had the score in this scene is honnestly goddly..
That beautiful song of the Ood at the end is called "Vale Decem" in Latin, and means "Farewell, Ten." At one point they sing "vale" ten times - everything has a meaning, you see! Oh, and thanks so much for posting the double episode, it was well worth the wait!
Also, the moment the Doctor breaks down gets me every time. David was phenomenal.
3:47 the queen that the doctor references is nicknamed "the virgin queen" so make of that what you will
Yay! Always a ray of sunshine when you put out a Doctor Who reaction. Thank you Jay, you're an angel!
Ah Jay. And so the moment has come. Have quietly been following your Doctor Who reactions since the whole situation in the Library.
The sting of loosing Tennant will last some time, but always remember, each Doctor carries the wounds of the former, and 11's era is... beautiful. It's beautiful and hopeful and healing...
I don't mean this to be mean. I honestly don't get what people see in the test doctor. I think he's over rated. Over time, I started to see something things about him that I don't like. Because of that, it has put me off this doctor completely again, to each his own. I like David as a person, but as the doctor, I don't like the character.
@@AmyWarriorPrincess I feel the same way about the eleventh. While the different doctors each giving their own take is phenomenal, it does mean that each has a chance to just not hit for the audience. Personally, I like that Ten is vain, and has the Time Lord Victorious arc. I like that he is trying (and often failing) to cover the pain that was a bit more apparent in Nine by throwing himself headfirst into the adventures, and distracts himself with his companions. But that doesn't mean that the performance will land for everyone.
@@AmyWarriorPrincess 👎👎👎👎
without Ten healing, nothing about the era which you say, can be called healing
The saddest episode after Doomsday (and yeah, I'm crying...).
RIP Bernard Cribbins (Wilfred) and Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane).
Rip that old woman too that touched the Doctor at the butt
@@Hanmacx June Whitfield, yeah. What a legend.
Episode so stressful he sat NEXT to his chair 💀 great reaction vid 👍
So glad you did this as a double drop, I don’t think I could’ve waited for part 2
Chills... Every time, chills. The end of this one is RIGHT up there among the greatest scenes in my opinion, right along side the "Fury of the Timelord" scene. Right from the four knocks, to the iconic "I don't want to go". Ironically, it's also one of the most painful scenes in the show. Make no mistake, the next Doctor is amazing too... But it's always a shame to see an great Doctor leave the stage.
The whole special at once! We are lucky! And now we get into MY favorite doctor- I can't wait!
I'm so excited for Matt! Absolutely love him. He's like Tennant who was an expert at being funny, sassy, kind and then still able to rip your heartstrings out.
@41:00 Two GREAT scenes in this: Wilfred and The Doctor in the cafe, and Wilfred and The Doctor on the spaceship... Happy to see you tear up to them: not just 'cos I might have done too, but also 'cos guys should be unashamed to share their emotions too. Mental health matters, and all that! ;)
Stay well... Meanwhile: onwards! :)
@50:30 Okay... So maybe THREE great scenes: Wilfred and The Doctor after the other four-knocks. ;)
Thank you for mentioning mental health.
Men fall far behind when it comes to mental health supports in many countries including my own.
Another great reaction Jay, this final was such an emotional rollercoaster and a great send-off for David Tennant! You're going to love season 5, no "spoilers"
Remember in the hospital, when he first met Martha! He was joking about Radation not being that bad, crazy it comes back around!
Oh my gosh we are here! When he gets choked up talking to Wilfred, I call the Timelord Penitent.
Love how your hat went flying for david tenant's goodbye. 😂 brilliant 😊
So glad you released both parts at once so we don't have to wait 3-25 days in between :p
And have you ever noticed there is a four beat backing thrum to the Doctor Who theme? After this episode I retconned this to be the heart of the Doctor in the theme - across all time.
Been a Doctor Who fan since the 90s and yet why have I only just noticed this at 34 years old?
39 and NOW I know this.🤦♀️
YESSSSSSS!!
Here we go, welcome to the show the Eleventh Doctor!
Wilf was the GOAT. Mr. Cribbons delivery of the emotional lines breaks me everytime. He also brought out the best emotional performance of 10's arch as well, imo. The diner scene is my second favorite scene of the series ever, for me. It is only surpassed by 12's "Scale model war" scene.
YES THIS DOCTOR WHO REACTION SERIES IS WHY I SUBSCRIBED THIS IS THE SHIT RIGHT HERE
Being a child of the 1970s Bernard Cribbins' voice resonates even more because he did the voices of the Wombles and read story after story on Jackanory, 111 in total, but it was his performance in the Railway Children that is the most endearing: "Perks must be about it!". What is rarely recognised was his appearance in the 2nd Doctor Who feature film in 1966: Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. Where he played policeman Tom Campbell, who seeing a robbery rushes to use the Tardis to report the crime using its telephone but walks in and feints in surprise at the interior dimensions; shame they couldn't have married these in the modern canon?
1 and 2 😮😮 saddest moment ever for Tennant second to losing rose and wiping Donna mind
Great reaction! You put your whole self into this, edge of your seat, jumping up when things get tense. It feels like watching it again for the first time.
Super excited for the next era of Who. In my opinion Matt Smith knocked it out of the park from episode 1. He had a lot to live up to and he managed it. True it took a little getting used to after Tennant. But he's brilliant in his own right.
First go around, I stopped watching the Doctor because I was so pissed about David T leaving. Now, thanks to getting Series 9 at flea market for $1 and getting hooked on Peter Capaldi's portrayal (brilliant), I bought the whole Doctor Who reboot box set. Tonight will be my first Matt Smith episode ever.
@@wattsiswhat you'll love him 🥰 he's got the same energy as Tennant but definitely makes the doctor his own, so doesn't try to copy
@@BlaiddDrwg2009 I also just won an intense auction on eBay for the entire Pertwee era on DVD. I'm told I'll love that too. Looking way fwd to getting it.
@@BlaiddDrwg2009 Three episodes in and way good. What impresses me about the first four Doctors in the reboots is how they all in the end are the same character. That's impressive. I've yet to see anything with the 5th, but I haven't heard any good about those episodes.
@wattsiswhat Glad you're enjoying it!! What do you think to the companion?
For the writer (RTD) and the actors he told on set, the woman was the Doctor's mother. Remember, they spoke of people being resurrected over and over again to fight and die over and over again. And with the context clues from the Gallifrey scenes, it seems that she was on the council and refused to agree to Rassilon's plan, which is why she was being punished at the end. Though, I do wonder if she purposefully put herself in that position so she could be there to give the Doctor the hint on how to fix the problem.
I just want to point out that last scene with Rose . basically that was not the real Rose as she's still in the parallel world. the doctor went back to the past and saw her in 2005 . when he told her she was going to have a great year he was referring to her meeting Christopher Ecclestons doctor for the first time that year AKA HIMself
Also he was hidden in the shadows and she just thought he was some new years drunk.
@@RosesTeaAndASD true
He saved Rose till last, because she's that important to him. With everyone else, it was goodbye, with her, it was hello.
The conversation between Wilfred and the doctor in the spaceship will always be my favourite scene. No action or quick pacing involved, just a time for two war veterans to share their stories of duty, loss, and loneliness
I remember watching that second part on 1st January 2010 and being not at all ready to say goodbye to Tennant.
It's amazing to watch your evolution into a Whovian. Your reactions throughout this story were very true to the reactions to many of the other reactors to this show. And I could feel ya in a lot of them. I'll admit, I actually once considered stopping watching the show with this final episode with Tennant, because of how sad it made me. But then I watched the first episode with Matt Smith, and he won me over pretty quickly. I'm excited to see how you react to it. And the rest of Torchwood.
I adored this reaction from you!!! It's like seeing the episode again for the first time ! I wish I could forget all of the series and discover it for the first time again.
This is such an emotional episode, I feel we all need hugs after seeing it
Meet MY Doctor, Matt Smith, #11! The ‘Cool’ Doctor!! ❤❤❤❤❤
PS Jay: If you ever feel the need to revisit Ten, I highly recommend his Big Finish releases. His series are pure fire, especially the ones exploring unseen adventures with Rose and Donna...:) :)
Or his episode in the Sarah Jane Adventures!
@@carolinemerk9814he’s watched the Wedding of Sarah Jane already! He mentioned it in the intro!
I always cry at this... especially at the end with wilf and Rose... I watched the first 10 eps of Smith's era but ended up kinda quitting for a bit. Not his fault he was fine. Couldn't really get into it but that's alright not for everyone. I hope you enjoy the ride tho :) always enjoy your reactions
Thanks! I have really enjoyed your Doctor Who journey so far you live virtually every minute of each episode. Take care
50:50 There is a comic, where a villain activates an "explosion machine" that makes everyone hit by it - change a significant choice of their life - usually the one with most regrets.
There is actually a scene when this iteration of the Doctor, after his whole speech, decides to sacrifice Wilf and claim his throne as Time Lord Victorious. It's one of the coolest "what ifs" moments. And also really sad. Especially as it's a multi-Doctor adventure, where next two Doctors we get after Tennant also go through similar events.
MAN that scene where the Doctor sacrifices himself for Wilf is still devastating
I was a kid when I first saw Doctor Who, and this was the first performance from David Tennant, I have ever seen. I still love him and I would watch ANYTHING from him. He's acting in here and Broadchurch is the best. Tennant and Donna will always be my favorite duo. Back then I was skeptical about a new Doctor, but Smith is my second favorite Doctor. And I didn't believed that there will be ever better than Tennant-Donna, but gladly Smith and I-don't-tell-you-who are equally good.
I don't know if anyone commented this, but when the doctor borrows the quid off a lovely man, Geoffrey Noble, this was Donnas father, the actor died shortly after series 4 began shooting, so this was a lovely tribute to him as well
I love your reactions
The scene with the Doctor and Willfred broke my heart 😢
(Now I'm waiting for you to watch episode 10 of the fifth season)
I’ve been loving all of your Doctor Who reactions from the beginning and the only reason I don’t comment more is because I don’t want to accidentally spoil something because I say the wrong thing. Keep up the good work, because I’m definitely going to be watching!
Tragic Easter egg of his final line. Everytime that doctor would jump in danger, almost with a smile at times, he would yell Alons-y... which translate to "Let's Go!". His final line was "I don't want to go".😢
The wait between these doctor who episodes is hurting me lol
I know. I keep checking every day 😂
Wilfred Mott's story about being in a blizzard of bullets while standing on the roof rings true because it is.
It really happened to Bernard Cribbens when he was a young soldier stationed in Palestine shortly after World War II.
The ood planet in this episode is filmed at a quarry in South Wales . They used a snow machine and painted the whole place white 🤍
He doesn't say who "The Woman" was. Instead he looks the side, and sees Sylvia, Donna, and Donna's friend. A Mother. A Wife/Daughter/Granddaughter. A Friend. He doesn't say.
I always missed that, until I read the script. I like to think that its the Doctor's mother - At least the one who was raised the 1st Doctor. But it could be his Wife; Susan's Grandmother. Or Romana. or even Susan.
I am really enjoying your reactions. I’ve watched all 3 seasons in a week 😂 I love your enthusiasm and your appreciation of the Doctor and all his companions. I think you are going to love #11 just as much as #10 💖
also the song that plays when tennant regenerates, its literally called farewell 10, its so beautiful and sad
I loved every second of this rewatch with you. These final eps make me cry still! I can’t wait to watch the Matt Smith era with you ❤
David Tennant was a amazing Doctor, people don't understand is more than nostalgic, his doctor was loved by many and he did such a great job making the Doctor more human and relatable.
Ten's regeneration will always be the most heartbreaking I got to see, almost everyone welcomes the new face and is proud of their path but then you have Ten who had so many unfinished business, so many mistakes, such a raw force of emotions he was almost.. human.
I don't want to give you spoilers but I believe this is what play a major role into what will happen in the 60th anniversary.
Ay up, on your knees, lol.
What a great reaction to a great ending, another of my fav doctors gone.
Bernard Cribbins, what a legend!
If you had told me 4 knocks would break my heart I wouldn't believe you. You were warned SO far in advance, yet, when the time comes, it still rips your heart out.
I don’t know why I like when rasolon called the two my lord doctor and my lord master, I would maybe like if two timelords are talking to each other they’d call each other my lord then their name, but if they are friends of family they won’t say it
Now that you've seen this episode you need to listen to Chameleon Circuit's - The Doctor Is Dying song.
"You're going to regenerate, some new man saunters away, no time for games tonight we fight, for the sake of all mankind. "
ah here we are. the beginning of my favourite doctor & favourite era of the show. i love tennant and this was a great way to go out.. but the upcoming era is MY era and i’m very excited for the reactions!!
i love your reactions a lot of your mannerisms especially when you get out of your chair remind me of myself
Seeing the Master multiply reminds me how much Marvel is taking ideas from Doctor Who. The villain Kang has a very similar scene as well.
No but the DRAMA and impact of these episodes. Honestly the end of this doctor was the most beautiful and tragic thing ever. I have never avoided crying no matter how many rewatches I've done.
Finally been waiting for this for ages happy it's a double
I will say it AGAIN… I absolutely love watching your reactions, for Gods sake, you have me in tears.. and I know what’s coming !! 🇬🇧
Your reaction was incredible emotional and real and I loved every moment watching you the best person doing reactions thank you.
the most beautiful ending to the most beautiful episode
Honestly, I keep flipping back and forth as to who is my favorite Doctor, 10 or 11. You're in for some good times.
"Wouldn't she make you laugh again good old Donna?"
Good old Donna. Good old granddad 😞
the origin of the weeping angels is wild.
That's not the origin of the Weeping Angels. Rassilon was just *referencing* the Weeping Angels. He said "LIKE the Weeping Angels of old".
Your enthousiasm was really enjoyable to watch during this finale. Love to see you welcoming the new Doctor. Onto next series!
And you’ve now entered the weird and wonderful time of Matt Smith. Dude you’re gonna have so much fun with what’s coming
Now on to 11th. If you watch more than one a week you will probably reach thr 50th by thr 60th
Oh do please. Your reactions are fabulous.
I LOVED your reaction! Now I gotta go to your page and go back to the begining.
You are going to LOVE this first story of the new Doctor. I'm subscribing and very much look forward to you seeing the next season opener.
hahaha, why did I even think I would be able to watch this without crying *again* ? 🤣🤣🤣
LOVED your reaction, by the way! :)
Not gonna spoil anything, but you might want to remember the "I don't wanna go"
You are like a comet: appearing sporadically, but when you do, you outshine all the stars ❤
Yasssss let's gooooo!
Edit after watching: **cries in devastation**
Wilf deserved to be a Companion more than any other secondary character.
David Tennant suffered a back injury prior to filming this and that ride on the dolly the steps were brutal for him. The look on his face was not acting.
huge arc covered, loved the reaction. kept us on our toes, that one!
can't wait for you to meet Matt Smith's 11th.
Jay - fasten your seatbelt for Season 5- New Doctor, new companion, new showrunner. No spoilers, but I'm looking forward to your take on the differences. All good.
Cried watching this video.
The whole thing was just heart wrenching to watch.
I loved David Tennant so much growing up that when he left and Matt Smith appeared i immediately hated him XD
Like, HOW DARE YOU TAKE HIM AWAY FROM ME!
Fortunately because of the long hiatus between seasons when i saw him again in the Eleventh Hour i immediately fell in love to his goofy rendition of the Doctor.
Still miss David though. Happy to have him back as the 14th Doctor even if it's going to be brief.
14 is my lucky number, it is also my birthdate so I'm super glad he's back.
I love watching you watch this it brings me so much joy u r such a sweetheart ❤watching you go through the end broke my heart 💔
End of an era, enjoyed your reactions throughout!
I just saw the end of time p2 and I cry all my soul and heart, I fell in love so hard with him, 10th Doctor, and the fact that he said he doesn't want to go destroyed me. I don't know if i will be able of continue de serie, I hope yes because I love it but it will be hard
"Raggety Man" was Doctor with a torn jacket due to a fall through glass.
Though he has watched so much Dr Who, he still gets surprised. That can be a good sign.😊 Still has a lot to learn however.
So glad to see this reaction come up on UA-cam. One of the most brilliant double episodes ever. Bernard Gibbins is right up there with one of my very favorite recurring characters in Doctor Who history. Back when this first aired, I was so upset, that I "boycotted" Doctor Who for the next several months, because I did not believe anyone could "replace" or follow David Tennant. What I will tell you is that I was wrong. Matt Smith is brilliant, as you will soon find out. When I finally relented and started watching Season 5, they had me loving Matt within the first 15 minutes....... Congrats on finishing Season 4 and THANK YOU for your heart felt reactions. - BILL
While taking absolutely nothing away from all other Doctors - each in their own way is magnificent - Matt Smith may be the most ‘Doctor-y’ Doctor of them all. The youngest actor to play the Doctor, he manages to convey a very old soul in a young man’s body superbly.
I have to agree with you. I'm an Eccleston fan, but Smitt was definately the best NuWho Doctor to recapture the Classic Who vibe.
@@RosesTeaAndASD Agreeing with me in a You Tube comment? What sort of behaviour is that?! 😂😂😂
RIP to Bernard Cribbins, William Hughes, June Whitfield and Elisabeth Sladen.
My gosh, great reaction! Can't wait to start the new era! I've been waiting for this for a long time
