Es gibt keine Barmherzigkeit! Nein - das waren die achtziger Jahre. Zusammen mit "The Art of Noise" und "Frankie Goes To Hollywood" ein kleine Entdeckung. Nichts und niemand kann diese tollen Songs und die Stimmung und das alles zurückholen - nur diese Videos hier. Und dafür danke ich euch! Es ist so furchtbar lange her...
I saw this band live in 84 when I was 20 and fell in love with Suzanne, when I was 53 I found out she was 6 years older than me. Oh how I was disappointed!
So incredibly stylish. The gloves giving a nod to Hitchcock's deadly Birds, and the orange lumps on the skirts are a direct reference to Oscar Schlemmer - a Bauhaus painter/designer... and yes, the arm dance: the pointers of the clock, dangerously close to the swastika (and yes I know they aren't nazis - but taking the power of the symbols and subverting them - they quoted Baader-Meinhof on the P-Machinery single cover as well) Propaganda was so much more than just a pop group - that is why we still love them so many years after!
Thanks Industrial82, for posting this. Superb to see this great band again. This track showcases again the superb guitar of Kevin Armstrong, and the ex-Simple Minds rythm unit. Great music, great memories. In the same way that 'Murder of Love' clip from Whistle Test sound quality is very good from video, it seems that the sound was digitally 'cleaned up'. If this is the case, thanks. These magic moments in time deserve to be treasured and enhanced.
Never get tierd of listerning to this track. Derek Forbes playing his Aria Pro 2 with it's distinctive growling sound. Also Brian McGee (ex Minds). Suzanne Freysteg is a babe! Thanks for posting. Musically the 80's were the best.
Legend band, soooo good. It was seeing them on The Tube back then that got me into lots of German music. Still love them now and stil rate Secret Wish as one of my fave albums ever.
I never missed The Tube if I could help it. I must've seen this at the time; thirty four years later I had a vague memory of the semaphore dancing and now in 2018 I'm catching up on this awesome band. The Betaochenta No°65 video of this song is the 12" remix and Susan and Claudia doing the Semaphore thing too x
The greatest arm dance in the history of arm dancing (and the competition was fierce in the 80s!) This performance is awe-and-then-some! The energy from 2.50 blows the bloody doors off!
Hahahahaha!!!!!!! I would also have to agree with you! At least she shaves her armpits unlike Nena!!!! I'm watching these clips and keep expecting Freytag to at least grin or smile! Typical arian female, robotic and emotionless!
@jonnyo420 thanks for that - I will have to check out the ZTT site myself and perhaps try to learn German ;o) I would have to say 'A Secret Wish' is also in my top 10 albums. This was one of the first albums I ever bought. I used to listen to this on my Sony Walkman constantly when it first came out.
@thomsk On the ZTT website, the translation for 'es gibt keine Warmherzigkeit' is translated as 'there is no mercy' - although 'Warmherzigkeit' is more usually translated as 'human warmth' or 'warmheartedness'. I guess the idea is being cold and emotionally 'frozen'. Whichever it is, it's a great song and a brilliant performance. A Secret Wish is still in my top 10 albums of all time.
M. M. Yes they are using backing tracks, the clue is the drummer is wearing earphones, so that he can hear a countdown to the start and then sync with the backing track.

Suzanne Freytag has and always will be my all time favourite dream woman- her sexiness is off the scale!!
I saw this band live in 84 when I was 20 and fell in love with Suzanne, when I was 53 I found out she was 6 years older than me. Oh how I was disappointed!
She is not a patch on Claudia.
It's scary how good this is, so much talent on that stage.
So far removed from even the most modern music, what a surprise

Susanne Freytag and Claudia Brücken are awsome in this video clip. This clip is so great. Something for eternity!
Forbes' bass is brilliant
Yeah the bass sounds like the bass from Paul Young in this time .great 80s.

One of the greatest albums of all time.
sometimes i think this is the best band in the world. My god, i cant believe the sound of this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean Claudia Brucken!
Die Mädels aus Düsseldorf waren echt sehr gut.❤
Legend band, soooo good. It was seeing them on The Tube back then that got me into lots of German music. Still love them now and stil rate Secret Wish as one of my fave albums ever.
This is the old Simple Minds rhythm section featuring the great Derek Forbes on bass.Check out the Whistle test for Murder of Love live with same band
The windmill arm thing at the end is so fucking cool, t he whole song and especially the performance are amazing. Just amazing!
I watched this live on TV when I was young and thought it was the most incredible gig i'd ever seen on TV.
Brilliant performance.
'A Secret Wish' was extremely underrated. Sadly it didn't get the attention or air play that it deserved.
loving the bass on this version
Derek Forbes - Bass Player from the Band Simple Minds.....
Very elegant Ladies

That killer bassline, that guitar at 2:40 - outstanding.
The 12 inch re-mix of this song is much much better!!!
Long applause from Argentina ✨
¡Excelente synth pop de los 80's!!!
Excellent synth pop from the 80's!!!

The best moment of the song is a 2:00. When the two ladies lift their arms. Move to the music. As long as you can! These were the 80s.
He He He !
Kevin Armstrong (also of Bowie’s backing band and Tin Machine) a very underrated guitarist!
wow that's fking awesome
a great performance!
And Brian McGee on drums
How good is it from around @1:50? Bass drums, vocals and guitar all superb.
So cool. Even cooler than cool. - Frozen but great.
CLAUDIA - SINGULAR VOICE, SENSUAL VOICE...
sexy german accent oh yes
Priceless.

Ich mag die Deutschen Damen. Beste grüsse aus Chile Südamerika.

Son las dos unas hermosas y encantadoras damas alemanas.
Great band. Great song.
Remember me Empires and Dance and New Gold Dream Albuns!
Their version of Duel on this show was stunning. Any URLs for that?
Great .Forbes on bass..
I agree with you 100%

derek forbes
best version!
yeah nice
still FROZEN
school english par excellence...
😍
@brudergrimm01 thanks for the translation
This song reminds me of Japan a bit. What is Suzanne saying in the German part of this song? That bit always makes me go a bit strange :-)
Where is the Keyboardist..The guy with the round framed specs ?..They seem to have used a recording of his parts to cover his abscence.....
M. M. Yes they are using backing tracks, the clue is the drummer is wearing earphones, so that he can hear a countdown to the start and then sync with the backing track.
HHAA, frozen faces, le meilleur titre pour de Propaganda.....bon d'accord la choré est un poil too much, mais bon, c'est pas grave....
lol
