Amazing to see a recording of the classic Propaganda line up performing live. I always wondered what Michael Mertens actually did and he appears to be a bit of a whirlwind here. And of course they have one of the greatest rhythm section combinations performing with them (though you only get brief glimpses of them on this video) Derek Forbes (Simple Minds and the greatest bass player Scotland has ever produced) and Steve Jansen (Japan and still one of the most innovative drummers there has ever been).
Hey I'm over 40 and I am doing pretty well these days, I don't miss much...BUT for the music I want to dive back into the 80s. These days were glorious! And Propaganda was a lead.
Big Dan only played on the second album, he was still with Simple Minds when the first album was released in 1985. He toured and I had the privilege of watching him and Brian McGee back Propaganda at the Glasgow QM Union. Fantastic...
You all prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
Was this Channel 4,s Bliss from Carlisle? If it was the bands played more songs than this which were shown during the night as a seperate programme. Murder of love is the greatest song I have ever heard which was not released a single.
Trevor Horn was their producer, one of the most succesfull in those years (Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Art Of Noise, The Buggles, Yes, etc). The band split up, being the major reason further succes stopped. The Secret Wish was and is Propaganda first, last and best album ever with these four band members.
If you can’t dance to this, you can’t dance. What a vibe. Still so much energy even 37 years later.
holy xylophone Batman! What a great band - though I didn't hear them much back in the 80s. Wish I had.
They had 1 good album....."A Secret Wish"
That was qabout it.....

In those Times when Music was Propaganda!! Nowadays propaganda is news and music is CRAP!!
Murder of Love is such an 80s masterpiece. This is an interesting hybrid of live playing to the studio version backing track.
Propaganda is a great reference of the best music!

A lot of cowbell-action going on here.
Dan Nájera Yeah, but not enough! We need moar cowbell!!!
Aus dieser Formation hätte man die Beatles 2.0 machen können. Die hatten so viel Potenzial, aber einfach keinen guten Produzenten.

Neither Forbes or Jansen played on the album versions.....right? I know Jansen played on Claudia's solo record.
