@@shanesworld6363 Ha! I was going to say something like that. They're great because of their performance abilities. Of course, we all notice their eye appeal, but that's far second to their singing. I will say tho that they're not the best dancers, but then....they're German, ya? lol! Remember Sprockets on SNL?
Unbelievable. Bought an orange tape, the original back in the days in Italy. After all this time, here in USA, listening it once in a while, , and I see myself thinking, something like this is a masterpiece. Best version, IMHO, the original.
Suzanne and Claudia are really "iconic" specially in that concert and this throbbing hypnotic music with the dramatic and nostalgic leitmotiv at once ,six notes only....
How did American miss this guy? I sang and played in nightclubs all though the 80s, always looking for that next song to sing and this band never showed up on VH1 on MTV?
I remember a loong time ago I went with a friend to their concert in Paris. We were talking about simple minds and how I missed Derek Forbes playing with them... Imagine my surprise when I saw propaganda with the Derek Forbes 😳😂 and the concert was completely wild and great 👍😅
A fabulous moment in time.... slightly.... perhaps more than slightly.... tarnished by a poor sound engineer and a rubbish vision director. Whoever called the cameras didn't do their homework - and the sound engineer suffered from a 'oh look, there's someone on the mic.... might fade it up in a minute..... oh wait... feeeeedback!' kind of situation. Also, from a stage performance point of view.... we kinda needed the trumpet for this song.... like..... perhaps more than 'kinda'..... yeah.... we totally needed the trumpet. I guess it was a money thing. This song, featuring a gut wrenching and massively powerful poem by Edgar Allan Poe, is one of the best songs in the world ever recorded. And Trevor Horn (who produced the staggering album recording) is one of the biggest production prodigies the world has ever seen. Just my opinion of course.... but actually, I'm right all the same!
How? This one is a magnificent track, sure, but the rest of the album is in a different musical universe, I don't want to disparage it, it's an acquired taste. To become bigger than DM, you have to put out 14 coherent, inventive albums with at least 3 great songs each. I doubt I'll live long enough to see someone topple that. I'd love to though.
@@diosivor i mean if they could make more albums. My english is bad and i didnt want to mean they are better than DM. But they had the potential to fill stadiums if they would have the chance to make more albums.
One of the best voices that has ever existed: Claudia Brücken. I love her and she is so beautiful..
Susanne looks and sounds stunning.
Don't think Poe could have imagined his poem turned into song....love it!
Awesome, eh? And there are two other of Poe's poems I would love to hear in music, the Raven and the Bells.
Raven already exist in music! Listen first record of The Alan Parsons Project
I've always felt a sense of safety and comfort listening to this track. It's amazing.
Love this version with the guitar.
One of the best songs ever...
Iconic. Love this band great sound 😮🎶🎼
Brian McGee and Derek Forbes .Simpleminds best rhythm section.
Absolut.❤
Circa 1985. My buddy's favorite band. He left this earth 5 yrs later.
Propaganda war einfach nur geil. Ich höre die Musik immer wieder gern.

Well, this is magnificent. 🖤
Fantastic Poem turned into one of the best tracks ever
Big shout out to Kevin Armstrong's brilliant Guitar playing, one of the best to work with David Bowie.
always loved Derek Forbes playing bass, cracking song also
Derek Forbes on a Wal !! Fantastic !! Especially on Murder of Love
Propaganda is amazing. Susanne Freytag and Claudia Brücken are beautiful. That is all.
Dan Nájera the best
So if they were ugly would you still like them or do you listen to music with your dick and not your ears?

I've heard that about German women being attractive. Probably true
When i die, this is going to be played on my funeral while a projector shows pictures of my life.
Mi sembra tragico
We should have had much more music from Propaganda! Blows your mind at how good they were live and the girls were just wow! German delicacy!
I totally agree with you. Greetings from Spain.
@@miguelgaldonmoragues Greetings from Northumberland UK!!
"Live" --- a synth based sound, and yet not a keyboard player on stage, but Mertens banging the xylophone.....
Claudia, my Claudia. So iconic in this band. Everything about her is so captivating. Such a tragedy they did just this one (FANTASTIC) album with her.
I do agree Claudia Brûcken The German Goddess Freia herself in a expressionism "atmosphere" straight from Caligari or Friz Lang (Dr Mabuse of course )

they have reformed and released a fantastic new album
Unbelievable. Bought an orange tape, the original back in the days in Italy. After all this time, here in USA, listening it once in a while, , and I see myself thinking, something like this is a masterpiece. Best version, IMHO, the original.
Timeless stuff! Love the guitar tone at 3:12 in particular!
@Louise X It was probably SJ Lipson who co-produced, although Steve Howe from Yes is on that album also.
I agree with you...👍
great song from a even greater band. and those eyes. will drown in it.
Amazing live sound and captivating performance
What a very missed era of very good music
Chapeau !!! Que maravilla de musica.
Is all that we see or seem, but a dream, within a dream? On this album, yes, for sure.
The Eightys deliverd some of the most prominent music 🎶 🎵, Propaganda is a Statement of the Genius that remains forever, Bravo 👏
Propaganda the band underground alternatif for the 80 S . the best sont P .MACHINERY !! woww mazingg !!

Ja, genial, E.A. Wirklich zeitlos. Schade, daß sie nicht nachgelegt haben.
This so sends me off into a dream world

Suzanne is so.........beautifull, I'm definitively in love....
and 30 years later she still very very beautiful...

Love? no pain Ramboo no pain!Remember?
Excellent, didn't realise a real glockenspiel was used, I always thought it was a synth.

this is the ULTIMATE Popsong, hands down. write this and everyone wil follow..
German artists have been always in the vanguard of music names like Kraftwerk, Nina Hagen, Propaganda were a trademark of the 80s.
That had to be an expensive vcr! Stereo, good sounding. And for the age of the tape not bad at all! If it's recorded in 1985 that is.

Derek Forbes !
Ingenious
Propaganda rules forever!
classic synth pop
oui genial et tellement hors du temps
They were just so cool and sophisticated not like the many Electro /Pop joke outfits that proliforated England at that time...
Epic!
Genau das ist der Zustand !!! Es war 1982 so, und ist es heute noch .... 🤔🤔
Claudia, i love you
Thumbs up for Derek fuckin' Forbes! My favourite bassist
I do agree
I bet Poe is furious... the royalties... the royalties!
Suzanne freytag was awesome in 1985
perfect 80s
Unfortunately, the aspect ratio is wrong, i.e.horizontally stretched.....
Brava!
Look at 3'45" the "look of Susanne Freytag introducing "Dr Mabuse"
