Is it just me or are all the hawkmoon perks just consistency boosts? Not that it's a bad thing, but feels weird how a lot of them are just different ways of making hawkmoon feel better.

That happens with only one combat perk slot. Mag, scope, barrel, and grip perks are all about consistency. But you get its exotic perks instead of a second combat perk slot
Before I watch the vid I think the best perk is either Killing Wind or Opening Shot.

Eye of the Storm should not be slept on, too. Opening Shot, Killing Wind, Rangefinder, and Eye of the Storm are all hella viable.
Before I watch, Opening Shot or Rangefinder. I’m on Console and the normal gun just feels almost as limited in range as Last Word.

As a PvE player, it would be amazing if Hawkmoon could roll with Rapid Hit for group major clear and nice boss damage when heavy is burned.
It would be nice if it came with assortment bullets, 3 firefly, 2 exp payload, 1 high-damage
That should honestly take the place of surplus since the catalyst basically gives it a great value surplus, these are all pvp focused perks so a pve one would be a neat addition.

Bruh it literally has rapid hit in the catalyst. The catalyst boost reload speed and stability with each Paracausal stack.

Agreed. I had one with opening shot and eye of the storm, and I always loved how I''d have good accuracy at the beginning and end of each gunfight. It was and still is one of my favorite HCs in Crucible.

Surplus is great on PC too. My favorite primary this season has been a Surplus+Wellspring Trustee, it’s amazing!
From the INSTANT my surplus Hawkmoon dropped, I knew that was the God Roll. I'm not sure why all these content creators overlook it
@@MylesBrennen it’s because it means the gun will always feel different. Also with how strong abilities are atm it wouldn’t be good to save them. Also hawkmoon has really high stability even on PS4 so it’s kinda unnecessary

The catalyst gives the paracausal shot a opening shot ish feeling for every headshot. So if you pair it with opening shot. You'll always have opening shot (kinda)
You don't have opening shot effects until x6 but before that it is still amazing boosts.

Managed to get a smallbore/ rangefinder/ heavy grip roll and it honestly feels amazing. Going to be difficult to beat.

yep, can confirm, EotS is incredibly helpful in 1v1s. I haven't been hands on with other top teir perks but I wouldn't be disappointed with that roll

I gotta say quick draw is over opening shot, even if its more lenient, or gives range unless your able to move or adjust your not gonna land the optimal ttk. Quick draw gives you faster swap speed if your running another gun, maxes handling so you can take other perks that give you that perfect recoil and more range.
First time I completed it, my 2 rolls were opening shot and eye of the storm. The opening shot roll has max handling and the eye of the storm roll has alot of stability. I like both of them but the more stability one definitely feels better. Cheers.

@@bannedmann4469 It already says on the perk. For each ability it gives an increasing amount of stab, reload, and handling. Maxes at 3 charged abilities. Not really sure why it would need testing to confirm that?

Hey I was kinda mad that I dismantled my rangefinder hawk. But I’ve now got a hawk with poly rifle, open shot, and poly grip and you made me feel good about that.
This week I got 3 worth keeping. First two are Extended, Killing Wind/Rangefinder, Textured Grip. The third is Smallbore, Opening Shot, Smooth Grip.
Imagine if it had fourth times the charm as a perk option

Bravo... Got Moving Target and Opening Shot last night. Ran the Moving Target hawkmoon last night in Crucible and loved it a lot... But also had hand Cannon targeting on. Good to know I was wasting a perk, I'll be taking the Opening Shot for a ride tonight. And double thanks because I didn't know that about opening shot also 👍🏾
I wish more exotic weapons had random rolls. Also Snapshot on hawkmoon is funny as heck to play with because it's basically hotswapping speed
You don't need to wait 3 seconds for opening shot to come back. You can just switch weapons and switch back and that will work too. If you have a quickdraw secondary this can actually work pretty good for peek shooting. You need to actually let the other gun be drawn though, you can't just double tap the switch button.
PSA: This week's Exo Challenge is really good for catalyst farming. In the boss arena, damage the boss enough that it goes and stays up on its platform. Enemies will spawn constantly in groups of 6/7. Red-bar goblins, which can be one-tapped easily. Got my catalyst done in 20-ish minutes without having to worry about nightmares or other players like the altars of sorrow.

Not sure if this video is Pc or console but here's the console God roll: Fluted Barrel/Killing Wind/Polymer Grip. If you need to know why, do the math adding the near 100% handling for a free version of Quickdraw and Snapshot. You get even more range from the catalyst and kills from Killing Wind bring you to the range max for the archetype. I have it. It's the God roll, no questions
Just use lucky pants with Hawkmoon and not only does it allow you to swap to it faster, buffs accuracy so it's like opening shot whenever you want it, and modded holster allows you to keep your cawcaw shot stacks while it loads it. So example, paracausal shot x5 and 1 round left, swap to a different weapon, let the holster add some rounds, swap back, now you have 4 rounds in the mag, paracausal shot x5 and an accuracy buff. Why more people don't use lucky pants with Hawkmoon is mind blowing to me. I've literally had someone laugh at me in an LFG for not running last word with Lucky Pants. Like dude, this is a rage inducing combo, I can 2 tap high resil guardians and turn right around and jump in PvE and do 345k damage like it's nothing. Such a fun combo, its basically all I've been using. I will say though, if you can't land precision shots, this is not for you. If you can land precision shots, then you're welcome.
Opening Shot is also in play for a quasi Icarus as the in air accuracy of the first shot will get some help. Always the biggest issue for me with exotic HC's.
Hammer Forged, Killing Wind, Smooth Grip was my first ever perked Hawkmoon. Been damn happy about it.
My PvP rolled Hawkmoon is Full Bore / Rangefinder / Smooth Grip.
On a warlock with Ophidian to max out the handling I pretty much have the highest range possible, quickdraw, 100 Aim Assist thanks to the argeting mod and the ability to crossmap people with dumb range. It might take a bit to get used to the different stability than the base no perk hawkmoon, but after that I'm confident in the fact that this roll is the PvP roll to chase.
Hawkmoon feels incredibly consistent with this perk combination, to the point where I'm starting to duel 120s from distances where I should be easily outgunned and I can still win the fight...

I was lucky enough to get 6 different perks this week.
Killing Wind, Rangefinder, Snapshot Sights, Opening Shot, Surplus, and Eye of the Storm.
My favorite has been Killing Wind because it has the most range out of the others.
My RangeFinder roll has the least range of the 6, but the most stability. I might give that a try over the next few days, since Rangefinder will replace the base range on the gun.
The first random roll I got has Rangefinder / Smooth Grip / Hammer Forged on it, and I really enjoy how it feels but only when I'm not using Hand Cannon targeting perks. When playing on MnK or Controller, stripping of those armor mods makes things feel just a bit more consistent that actually using them.
Got 4 of these
1. Heavy Grip, Rangefinder, Corkscrew rifling
2. Heavy Grip, Killing Wind, Fluted Barrel
3. Heavy Grip, Surplus, Smallbore
4. Heavy Grip, Opening Shot, Polygonal Rifling
My personal god roll is Full Bore, Rangefinder, Textured/Combat Grip. Boosts range by a ton and textured grip gives good handling, but combat grip gives you 100 recoil direction which is great for duels.
I gotta small bore, moving target, and polymer grip. It’s comfortable, might not be the best, but once I get used to it. It’ll take over for Sturm. It was my favorite gun in D1, so I was just glad to have the gun back

Full bore and heavy grip gives an acceptable (especially with the catalyst) handling at 60, stability at 67 which might or not be the point where your recoil gets super manageable. All of that comes with 70 range giving the stat split I want.

I'm curious how perks like Eye of the Storm and Opening Shot affect the gun's performance on a mouse and keyboard input, since hand cannons have a tighter accuracy cross hair by default on MKB. Any thoughts, Fallout?
As a console player, chambered compensator is actually really good, I max out stability as much as possible with my hawkmoon because the catalyst increases all other stats (range, handling, reload) so the only stat that doesn't get a buff is stability
I have a Hawkmoon roll that has: Fullbore, Alloy Magazine, Killing Wind and Combat grip and maaaan does that thing feel nice to use. Killing wind is such a good perk(that I didn't know was good until I actually used it). I have have a roll that is almost a god roll. Has range finder but no fullbore or combat grip. If I can get one with fullbore, rangefinder and combat grip, that would be my go to.
Edit: Just noticed but the killing wind one also has 100 for recoil.

Also opening shot gives that shot a inherited Icarus grip because the accuracy works in air.
When ALL 3 of your hawkmoon drops so far have moving target..... Oh well at least they aren't hipfire grip. and hey I can skip targeting mod.
They will shine a lot more in any season we don't have a 1 cost HC targeting mod, which I reckon will be plenty of them

Wait, for hawkmoon it should be snap>quick
Because if you have any charge you dont really want to swap. So snapshot allows you to engage quicker after sprinting with your gun out.
Surplus changing muscle memory is a non-starter because the hawkmoon catalyst changes everything for every crit you land. There is no technical muscle memory with this gun. Also, surplus is pretty dope imo.
Does the reduced impact of hawk moon compared to other 140s matter?
Finally got to do the mission
First roll was meh with surplus, full bore, heavy grip. Im on ps4, so not great. The second roll though...
Smallbore, Rangefinder, heavy grip.
You might say that the grip sucks, but i like it. Two reasons for that:
First, as said, I am on ps4. Stability is important.
Second: ive been playing dragons shadow for ages now (way before it was popular, but not that much longer, just a few months). Handling buff is already there to negate the downside of the grip

I got a chambered, surplus, smooth grip. The stability on console is brilliant. When surplus is at max, it has a precision HC feel. :)
your problem with surplus is like saying, i dont want to be quicker sometimes because it means that i wont be slow, consistently...like do you have this problem with perks like outlaw or any perk that buffs you given a certain circumstance????
My first hawkmoon was smallbore quick draw and smooth grip.
My third hawkmoon was corkscrew rifling, range finder and smooth grip.
My surplus hawkmoon has hammer forge and poly grip. The thing is nasty. Don't sleep on surplus
Surplus is intensely good. I slept on it until it rolled on my Posterity. I NEVER use my barrier or nades on my titan (I punch almost everything in the mouth) The boosts from this perk are so good. I'll be grinding surplus on Hawk for sure.

Opening shot/eye of the storm give accuracy but what does that really mean for an ADS shot? Yeah it tightens your hipfire cone but what does it actually do for ADS? Your bullet is going where your crosshair is. Does it even affect ADS shots in any meaningful way besides the range?
Please get some info on combat grip. I’m curious even though it’s very manageable as it stands but if the perk will make it feel like a 180 as it helps out strum a lot.
Does moving target give a different movement bonus for strafing vs forward/backwards movement?
I feel like it should be noted that Hand Cannon Targeting is normally 5 armor energy, which is pretty expensive. Might impact roll decisions for next season, when/if Hand Cannon Targeting isn't an artifact mod.
Quick question brought on by some of the talk here: if you have Opening Shot on a bow, does that proc for every single arrow, even if you're firing them more often than once every three seconds?
I believe so since reloading bypasses the cooldown

The HM I'm reallying loving right now in PvP has poly barrel, killing wind and poly grip, I wish it had smooth grip, but for my play style as a hunter it is NUTS!! Im trying to get a poly barrel, open shot, and smooth grip for my Warlock and Titan.... Great vid 🤙
Just got a full bore rangefinder smooth grip roll and damn it’s soo much better now. I actually wouldn’t use my hawk moon in pvp because my god roll dire promise just felt far better but now I can use both depending on the situation. My dire promise is still better but this roll sunsets probably next season as the cap is 1310.

He is right about moving target movement buff i tested it on a few guns and I literally couldn't tell a difference. There might be a fraction of a second difference but its really not that beneficial, I do like it for snipers though.
Got killing wind I love how fast I feel, got an opening shot one i wanna try range finder. But for PC i feel like killing wind is a bit better since its so easy to move around on M&K
1st harbinger run 3 moving target HMs. 2nd run 2 Rangefinder with the good barrel and grip. 3rd run Opening shot with the same barrel and grip as the rangefinders. And boy do those 4 are insane to use.
I have a Small bore, killing wind and heavy grip. Combined with hc weapon targeting and sprint grip. And masterworked.

I’m sorry to tell you this but Combat grip is absolutely worthless on Hawkmoon.
It adds +20 Recoil, which is very good. However, Hawkmoon has 96 Recoil. 20 + 96 is 116. Recoil caps at 100, so you are wasting 16 points. Even then, 96 recoil on base hawkmoon is already good.

Just remember, you don’t need to do questline on other characters. Just hop on your other ones and que into harbringer and you get the hawk moon.
They should have a season called season of the gunsmith where you go through a quest that unlocks the gun smiths ablility to modify guns, this means if you have a roll you don’t like, you can re roll it for 30 shards and 20 k glimmer then you get 3 random options to chose from for the new perk this would make farming much less tedious, to balance you can only do it 5 times per week and each weapon can only be modified once per week so you have to work on farming for a month to get everything yo need on a weapon

Anyone using any Hawkmoon WITHOUT surplus gets SLAPPED by this gun. - if your abilities are charged you have instant reload, zero recoil and imidiate ads, and catalyst will give the range and stability and handling after. it is a master race god roll
