Honestly kinda regularly I do still hop in quick play with it on my Titan. So much fun.
Pulse Monitor deserves an honourable mention as a “we have Threat Detector at home” panic option. My 4/5 Matador has it and it has saved me a few times.
I also have a Matador with pulse. My shotgun usage for the longest time was as an 'O Sh*t' button. Pulse Monitor is really good for that.
Yeah I was bummed when I got pulse monitor and OS on my matador but after playing with it, it definitely slaps.
It even helped my playstyle go from ape shotgun to a more passive/defensive /aerial shotgun style
Pulse monitor it's actually a really good perk in most of close range weapons

Duality really gets slept on. If I'm using a Kinetic primary (Immortal, usually), I typically just throw on Duality because my Matador sucks and I don't have a timelost Found Verdict.

If I use a legendary in my kinetic slot, I like to use Duality as my energy shotgun. I like that it is precision frame and can get really far with it's slugs.
amount of times i've been one tapped by duality at a range where i'll be getting smg damage drop off is insane
Duality w/catalyst hits further in hipfire than an opening shot matador :)
I like Ragnhild-D as well, but specifically for arc subclass play only with elemental capacitor. Capacitor can completely overcome any handling hits you get with stuff like more range-y barrel options

I'm legitimately curious why no mention of retold tale?
Slideshot, quick draw, or surplus column 3 and then demo, snapshot sights, or killing wind column 4.
Plus it's just a beautiful weapon to begin with.
Because opening shot is basically mandatory for shotguns but its good to keep in reserve for when opening shot is inevitably nerfed

Been really loving Without Remorse. The lightweight let's me run faster to close the gap sooner, threat-fragile focus is deceptively far reaching especially for lightweights and it just looks and sounds fantastic.

I generally use a wastelander or a 7th cqc. But I am working on getting more precision shotties like retold tale (CR: quickdraw, vorpal), Fractethyst (CR: None), or Compass Rose (CR: none)
Tbh, I just think Wastelander looks gorgeous with a metallic/wood shader, and have no want to switch it up
Trust me retold tale with quickdraw snapshot helps u way more with ads speed and is just overall more consistent doesn’t matter if u kill a super once or twice if u just aim better cause of snapshot

Thanks for this video, I double-checked my Decree and realized I never swapped it from Corkscrew to Barrel Shroud after I enhanced my Opening Shot.
I might be the only person in the game who wants this for this reason, but I'd like to see a Tex shotgun in the energy slot to pair with Traveler's Chosen. Also no I am not True Vanguard

I had imagined a beat up looking Double Barreled Shotty (Ornament to make it brand new looking also!) With a perk like the damage isn't split between each barrel. It would be viable in PVE hitting big damage & in PVP you could clown on supers & have really high consistency! Even if it used 2 Ammo per shot it would still be a monster!! Buuuuuut Conditional stepped in & said yeah, but what if me?
I'm sure Bungie could come up with something unique for a Tex Shotty! I mean my idea still different enough I guess?

@xabrias I love my Wastelander, and I consider it a Tex shotgun for sure. It's just that I wish there was an energy version for subclass matching, and as previously mentioned, to pair with TC
I think this video will be what convinces me to give Imperial Decree another try. Haven't used it since I got it, way back when.

@@Velvet_hippoboth r the deal shotgun is all about handling and range but u can focus more on range or handling depending on the perks u almost don’t need more than 50 handling in my opinion and if u have threat detector u can def focus more on range
@@Velvet_hippo you technically craft for range except for the barrel. Barrel shroud gives a huge boost to handling for it. It outranges everything else just by a range MW intrinsic, accurized rounds and opening shot. It’s literally like .5-1 meter difference, but it’s a difference. Mindbenders is right behind it if you have adept range, accurized, fragile focus.

Never bought the 30th anniversary edition, so my most used energy shotty is threat detector/fragile focus Mindbenders. I do have a good opening shot found verdict but I keep it on my Titan

Barrel Shroud/Smallbore, Accurized/LightMag, Perpetual Motion, Opening Shot with a handling masterwork. Got it the season the dungeon dropped, haven't put it down, and it's only gotten better since.
I still use my WITHOUT REMORSE with hip-fire grip + fragile focus + freehand grip + range things. I like it.
Nothing to do with shotguns, but good on using the Cantata in the gameplay. Such a neat HC that somehow competes with the heaviest hitters even as a world drop.
Imperical decree is my fav shotgun period but I usually use kinetic slot for my primary gun so in special slot it's gona be matador or techeun force. Perp motion opening shot with barrel shroud plus handling masterwork feels very very good and the ads is good so I recommend handling stuff on it
Slugs are so good. Being able to get damage on target from very far away is so good especially if you have enough ae to hit shots in air

I’m glad Imperial Decree made it high up on the list, I think this gun is super underrated because everyone hypes up Precisions (Fractethyst) I have a god roll Matador and Fract but Aggressive’s just feel more consistent for me, I prefer Found Verdict and Imperial Decree. Also, for all the Titan mains… Fallout emphasizes on the importance of Threat Detector but the new Synthoceps rework is basically building in Threat Detector onto the Exotic, so if you want the extra range Slideshot might be a better choice

I’m a imperial decree threat detector opening shot enjoyer. I still run conditional finality for trials, but i can’t get over the consistency at 6-7 meter cleanups after igneous

I don't have imperial, have decent rolls of the others but been liking the reckless endangerment from monument in the tower. Got all the perks that are great on shotty. Definitely gunna craft that imperial though

I never crafted my Imperial Decree because I got a 5/5 godroll Astral Horizon adept on my very first pull and it's essentially the Imperial Decree adept version with the same exact perks that I would've crafted on my Imperial Decree if I were to craft it, minus the enhanced perks obviously. Also, hard to grab but Swordbreaker adept is just better than Wastelander IMO. With Wastelander you get the whole 7 meters (with full choke) only when activating Slideshot, however with Swordbreaker you can get the whole 7 meters (with full choke) without needing Slideshot at all which means you can put Threat Detector in it's place and since it's adept you still get enhanced perks on it too which just makes it flat-out better, plus these lightweghts already have quicker movement speed when equipped so the extra handling from Threat Detector makes it feel like possibly the best shotgun in the game for handling purposes; and for some reason Swordbreaker adept just feels far more consistent than Wastelander when it comes to 1-shot kills, it must be the extra inherent range. Also, I currently put those Precision pellet shotguns like Matador and Fractethyst ahead of Aggressives like Found Verdict or Imperial Decree, otherwise I completely agree with this video.
Riiswalker should be an honorable mention because it's a fantastic cleanup shotty. I've got Barrel shroud, accurized, quickdraw, and Iron reach with a handling masterwork and QAS and it's a beauty. It's a great follow up to voidwalker melee and can catch anteus titans off guard with how crazy fast the handling is
Swordbreaker adept with enhanced opening shot/threat detector which I have should be in the honorable mention category. Lucky enough to get this 5/5 godroll a few weeks back and it's putting in the work
I'd scrap TD for FF to further extend the ohk it has like 90 handling anyway.
If you just want TD,OS you can use wastelander

@@fotis3v480I've got both crafted wastelander and this swordbreaker. Enhanced Opening shot gets my range to 100 and it's still dmg falloff at 6.7m. Opening shot and FF is just overkill.

@@vincentque1238 I don't understand the big deal, he had a few lightweights mentioned at the end so figured I mention this one too. I still have godroll fractethyst and other shottys I can use. I like the movement buff the lightweights provide.
I'd also give 7th Seraph an honorable mention. Lightweights aren't the best rn, but 7th Seraph has something special that's kept me using it for over 3 years now. It doesn't have the OHK kill range of most of the other options bc no Opening Shot, but with Quickdraw and around 70 handling, you can easily out-shoot them.
I'm not really a shotgun user, but the 7Th seraph was pretty much the only shotgun I enjoyed wielding back in the day, period; That, and Perfect Paradox.
That new deadpan delivery with Slickdraw/barrel constrictor is SUCH A SLEEPER OPTION. Literally OG quickdraw and like a Walmart version of roadborn for pellet shotties

Retold tale is a solid and underrated shotgun that is farmable everyday too. QuickDraw and snapshot makes it feel so nice and if Youre a primary focused player it’s nice to whip it out on demand
I remember not to long ago when Lord of wolves was the go to. That raid shotgun would be a nice addition to my loadout.

If you do care about slug shotguns, I recommend heritage as a kinetic and either gunnora’s axe or nessa’s obligation as an energy. Mainly focus on range but if you care about other stats then that’s good for you

Unfortunately I don't have any of those. If you in the same spot go for Wastelander (opening shot + perpetual motion) , Ragnhild - D (perpetual motion + elemental capacitor, use Arc class) , or Xenoclast (surplus). Felwinter from the kiosk in the Tower is still decent.
I got a god roll Garden of Salvation shotgun and it works pretty well, can't wait until it gets an origin trait

I found myself unable to use Riiswalker the way I used to because of the fixed pellet spread being awkward against player models. Precision shotguns like Fractethyst work much better for this reason to me.

I love how all of the shotgun footage that you display is running a knockout Titan with anteaus. Given the extra lunge range and damage with knockout, any shotgun with temporary invincibility window prior to your shot is god tier. I love your content, but I would respect this list more if you were using a hunter or a non ophidian warlock. Can’t count the number of times I don’t get the one shot and then they are slightly out of melee range when I know that if I was on arc Titan I would get the clean up. Might as well say “Acccshuallly the best shotgun in the game is knockout Titan with anteaus.”

I have a quickdraw + adrenaline junkie Fractethyst that I like to use. Quickdraw is just too good. I would run Conditional Finality, but I don't think Nezarec likes me :(
Duality is a really good and easily accessible shotgun in the energy slot, 80 handling by default and has the precision shotgun hipfire (which by the way, has TWO extra meters of range compared to a legendary precision frame with 100 range)
Yep lots of people are sleeping on Duality's hipfire capabilites. The only 2 shotguns consistently use are Chappy and Duality.
Matador w/ Corkscrew, accurized, range MW already supports 90 range. OS is extra butter on the biscuit, but i think people need can run a golden tricorn roll to great affect as well.
Welp, guess I got a solid roll of that Matador with Corkscrew, Accurized, Threat Detector and Opening Shot with a stability masterwork. Guess I should give that thing a try at some point.
I’m surprised no one bring’s up Felwinter’s anymore. It’s basically the same as his found verdict roll, but no grinding required.
My issue with shotties is I feel like I have to be within kissing range to get a kill, by which time The Immortal (or some SMG) has wiped me out.
Maybe I need to try shotties in a private march to get a feel for the range.
I got an Imperial Decree with ALH and Snapshot Sights. Not perfect range, but not having to worry about reloading my panic button is something I will never take for granted.
You could just slot a holster mod and it does the same thing.

On all pellet sgs, opening shot feels like a must have. One perk should never be that necessary for every single type of a pellet shotgun. Can't get a single matador with opening shot after all this time. I'd settle for a 2/5 only if it had OS. Never got a single one with it.

Retold Tale with quickdraw snapshots is a sick combo.
According to d2 foundry, all Quick access swing does is give your weapon the equivalent to + 10 handling when pulling out a weapon, so I believe that adept handling is objectively better.
0.9x animation scalar is not directly equivalent to +10 handling. The difference is gonna be miniscule either way, just a weird thing to misrepresent
last week shotguns have been everywhere in crucible. I'd say as much as 65% of my deaths have been to skiding shotguns. XD

Try out a sword breaker, possibly an adept crafted one if you can. Cursed thrall has gotten me several collats in the couple of weeks I’ve had the gun

I know the video focuses exclusively on pellet shotties, but in my opinion Chappy is still the best shotty for general use. I use Conditional more for only niche things like killing bubbles in Trials.
Chappy will be in a future sniper rifle video.

I personally run peacekeepers and have been pretty attached to imperial decree slideshot opening shot, with a meh dynamic sway snapshot sights shayura's wrath. If I can find a comparable energy slot shotgun that has slideshot opening shot I'd probably be using the unending tempest but don't have a comparable shotgun and don't have a great unending tempest.
I prefer slideshot on the Fractethyst! Mine is always glued to my hip if I need a shotgun! Glad I got a godroll when it was easier to farm, DOE is not an easy grind.
So no fractethyst or retold tale? QuickDraw + opening is insane on frac and retold can get QuickDraw snap or 12 punch

It strongly depends on your subclass. Every shotgun is good on titans, most shotguns are good for warlocks, and hunters need to work because AE.
I'm be that guy: the V2 IKELOS had some good stuff for a Rapid Fire, not gonna debate if it beats the other options though

Does Disaster Plan not give Last Man Standing enough of a leg to stand on to bother using? On paper, 15 range for picking up a brick + opening shot sounds nice.
