Opening shot is just the best perk for this gun in PvP. It synergizes so much. You get extra range for first shot then the catalyst kicks in and you get more range and then opening shot is perfect for getting the 1-tap. It's so good
IMO surplus and killing wind are underrated god rolls as killing wind stacks with the catalyst and surplus is just a S tier overlooked perk on just about any gun. The benefit it gives when it procs is insane.
Yes! I’ve been using using my opening shot Hawkmoon roll since last Tuesday. So good I’ve also got a rangefinder/rapid hit ancient gospel. Lemme know if you wanna try it out. 👍🏼

I wish I could say I'm done with the weekly mission/dungeon thing, but I play on PS4 so I'm still waiting on that +70 stability Opening Shot roll, or maybe even a Surplus just to see how it feels. Believe me, I need all the help I can get.
@@jonathancarroll958 funny thing I have that exact roll but I can’t hit anything with it. I have a decent rangefinder one and that I have more 3 taps with
I'm liking hawkmoon with surplus on my titan because I use heart of inmost light, so no matter what I'll always have at least 1 or 2 abilities up at all times, plus it makes the handcannon have almost zero recoil, feels like my old trust handcannon
Really happy I got opening shot after my first Harbinger clear. Glad Cross brought up that the perk activates again after not firing for a while because I personally do disengage gunfights and have my opponents chase me so I could take advantage of opening shot again ontop of my paracousal shots.
Out of 8 hawkmoon random rolls I have gotten I got 3 surplus, 4 moving target, and 1 opening shot, smdh. With those, however, a surplus with extra stability perks (fluted barrel and heavy grip) is extremely consistent all around, especially with 3 abilities full. It really gets me wanting to engage in primary gunfights rather than using abilities. I use this roll in any 6v6 game type. With the 1 preening shot roll I did get hammer forged rifling and a grip for recoil control. This isn't quite as consistent and takes a bit more work to land the 3 taps, but the extra few meters in range for the 3 tap potential is better in 3v3 game modes IMO. I wouldn't mind testing out snapshot and Quickdraw or even rangefinder, but so far the two I have are serving me well.
The best hawk moon I have gotten is range finder and a grip that nearly has max handling. So with the catalyst, one charge makes it one of the stickiest guns around and I LOVE IT
Already got my Rangefinder rolls, with Smooth grip, one with Hammer forged and one with Fullbore. They feel fantastic. Now just looking for a good Eye of the Storm roll.
You know what Hawkmoon needs; Muligan! but some kind of improved version of it that increases the buff per charge. I for one suck at hand cannons forget it all together if I have to use a hand cannon against taken that are constantly twitching, teleporting around like fallen on crack or cloning them selfs. I had to plug in M+K just to get +4 charges

I was so excited to get hawk moon with opening shot but 1 has arrow brake barrel and the other with chamber compensator. Stupid, if only I got extended barrel or hammer forged or even corkscrew I would be a happy farmer
I think Surplus is more for PvE. I personally use it because it basically maxes out the stacks of Paracausal Shots earlier. I think for ADS it takes like 4 charges to fully max out, so with Surplus at full I can theoretically max out the ADS with 3 abilities and 1 to 2 Paracausal Shots. In general I go with my Opening Shot roll for PvP, but for normal PvE I'm using Surplus.
I have opening shot. It feels incredibly consistent due to paracausal stacks. The first shot feels like shooting a big ass magnet that goes where it needs to rather than where you're aiming.
This is purely my opinion, but I will quote fallout here. 1) moving target isn’t worth it because hawkmoon has max aim assist with one hand cannon targeting on, and the ads movement speed boost isn’t worth it. 2) surplus is is weird because of the random stability fluctuations if your using your abilities. Because of all of this combined with my lucky paints which I main btw I don’t need handling or accuracy boosts as much. This all leads to me preferring a roll like full bore, range finder, (the one grip that gives some stability to recover from full bore)
Surplus is a perk I look for in all weapons possible and for some reason very hard to find for me. I opened hundreds of gifts only to find one surplus Cold Front. Looks like it will be the same with Hawkmoon.
For any Hunters in the comments. Surplus Hawkmoon, Fr0st33 legs, an about 4-5 tier melee and Grenade. Is a nice setup. I’m running tier 9 mobility and Nightstalker. Everything recharges pretty fast, so you’ll always get stability and accuracy from surplus. I also run two hand cannon target mods.
Had a killing wind with extended barrel and a surplus hammer forged barrel, gotta say surplus just feels more consistent in PvE and the range doesn’t feel like an issue
My first roll was chambered compensator, opening shot, and heavy grip. Probably way too much stability but I swear I don't have to do any recoil management on that thing. Pretty nice. The catalyst should help with my lower handling too.
I think surplus really shines on my Hailing Confusion. Like, it feels like a totally different gun with this perk active. Not sure if it would have the same potency on a hand cannon. Especially one like Hawkmoon with such good stats already.
That stability change makes me feel like I do when I use Ace. I'm not great at controlling the recoil on Ace normally, but when Momento Mori is active, I can control it pretty nicely
I don't see Ancient Gospel as much in pvp. I have a Rapid Hit+Dragonfly Gospel w/Dragonfly spec, which is basically a Dollar Store Ace minusbonus damage rounds.

As of this video, I have two random rolls. Smallbore with EoS roll is ok but Arrowhead brake with Rangefinder is chef’s kiss, “really, really omigawd” 😂
I got console with 105 FOV and surplus is really nice when its fully active. You literally don't have to control the recoil at all. Basically turns it into a 180.
I was excited about rangefinder but my opening shot ended up being my go to. I also love ancient gospel, I have rapid hit/kill clip and rapid/rangefinder and they are nasty!
You gotta lower your FOV all the way down to see the crosshairs move the way CoolGuy’s video did. It’s more accurate because at max FOV the crosshairs are visually tightened and move less.
I got one with snapshot sights and was just toying with it in pve and I will say it was more consistent for head shots for me than my killing wind roll. Kept procing the screaming chicken. Got to try it in pvp this weekend but I like it so far, fun to play with and ease of use for someone not as good at pvp or hand cannons as I am. Someone god tear at pvp probably be a trash weapon, but got to work with what I got lol.

Good selection cross. Those are definitely the best 4. I mainly use surplus since I'm not an ability spamming scrub. So its like I always have dragons shadow active on the gun.

Try getting a 140 rpm Nation of Beasts HC from LW Raid. It can roll with High calibre rounds and explosive payload! Decent range and a tonne of flinch to your enemy.
How are you running marksman’s dodge lol. I have no self control and had to switch to gambler’s because my first instinct when something hits me it to smash v on my keyboard, resetting my paracausal stacks. The reduced dodge time is worth it though; I love everything about hawkmoon. The sound, the feel, the reticle, if only it could have Icarus grip though…
Bro you should do a review on the Europa shotgun. It's has the second most aim assist on any slug at 61 but can roll with opening shot and firmly planted, making it the theoretical most sticky slug shotgun in the game. I actually got one to roll with firmly and opening. And I swear to god I flinched onto a gaurdians nipple and still got a head shot
I have an Austringer with Opening Shot and Eye of the Storm, it's nasty. Can't wait to try different Hawkmoons though, but I'm not 1270 yet. My toughest decision before a crucible match is- do I go with Sturm or Austringer!?

If you Fight me with my moving target roll when ur missing ur shots you'll think diff I'm a Flawless Player
@@shangtsung3962 that's cool bro if you been flawless but this comment was literally from seven months ago have a good day dude.
Try getting a 140 rpm Nation of Beasts HC from LW Raid. It can roll with High calibre rounds and explosive payload! Decent range and a tonne of flinch to your enemy.
Hi cross. I have a role with snapshot on it what would your thoughts be on snapshot on hawkmoon?
I have textured grip, snapshot, alloy mag, full bore.
I miss Austringer... my fav gun.. sad day i learned it was gone.
Holy shit congrats on the ad mah boi!
I have an Austringer with Opening Shot and Eye of the Storm, it's nasty. Can't wait to try different Hawkmoons though, but I'm not 1270 yet. My toughest decision before a crucible match is- do I go with Sturm or Austringer!?
You only see any changes in Eye of the Storm if you plug in a controller or any other perk that moves that crosshair , well is more noticeable on controller!!✌✌
Man I kinda wish I was the Azure with the opening shot roll, but I've already got full bore rangefinder so im happy
I love the video keep up the good work
Damn I got 2 with opening shot from my drops day 1, I thought they were gonna be ass, thanks Aztecross!
