Guess that makes me s4t4n, then. Every time I pick up a bass guitar at a music store, I play “Schism” and “Vicarious”, along with some other pieces by Geezer Butler, Cliff Burton, and Steve Harris
Cliff's sister said Cliff went to college and got an associates degree in Electrical Engineering.... just so he could modify his amp to get the sound he wanted. PURE GENIUS... and wonder where bass playing would be today had he lived!
@@faamecanic1970 I think a lot of digital and solid state things would have been fully adopted much sooner if someone like him was still around to adopt it as well. people were stuck in their own ways of preferring tubes being best well into the 2000s and even 2010s and but the technology had been there since the 90s.
Ngl, I was thinking my friend of misery wasn't going to make your list, but glad you included the live one specifically. I never heard that one before your video
They are all great bass intros and played to perfection, this might upset some folk because he wasn’t a metal bass player but the groundwork for all these great bass players in my opinion was the late great John Entwhistle from The Who, he paved the way for the bass to be used as a lead instrument, just a thought.
Evile-In Memoriam is also brilliant, doubly so because the entire song is an homage to their previous bass player Mike Alexander who sadly passed away.
This was amazing, especially the Damage tutorial at the end. Subbed. I hear layered bass at the end of the MetallicA song Master of Puppets, but have never been able to work out what is happening! Have you done a tutorial on that? Thanks!
The day I learn Panic Attack is the day I will have completed my journey as a bassist. I'll still play of course, but I know in my heart that there's no riff that's more satisfying to nail.
Great selection. I am missing Guyana from Manowar - really an amazing Bass Intro as the whole album (imho the best they ever did) is full of great bass guitar.
Ozzy - Perry mason. Nice to have dawn patrol in yer list. Not just intro, but the whole song is bassline 😂
Місяць тому
Or any bass intro by DD Verni of Overkill, from "Overkill II - The Nightmare Continues", "Horrorscope", "Burn You Down/To Ashes", "Half Past Dead", "Stoned Cold Jesus" or "Devil By The Tail" and so on.
Awesome inclusion of the whole Friend of Misery solo
yeah and the transition with seemann is just beautiful !!
Nice pic XD
Playing ace of spaces and schizm without a pick is diabolic behavior lmao
i promise you, and i’m not flexing or anything, schism played with just fingers is not difficult i promise
@@henryoaten8547it wasn’t a comment on the difficulty, but the tone that comes from playing those with a pick.
and Bello WITH a pick... strange choices here
AND 46 and 2
Guess that makes me s4t4n, then. Every time I pick up a bass guitar at a music store, I play “Schism” and “Vicarious”, along with some other pieces by Geezer Butler, Cliff Burton, and Steve Harris
Cliff was so far ahead of his time, he got sounds out of the bass, we didn't even know they existed *Cliff 'em All* 🤘
Metallica would be a completely different band if he were still alive. He'd be constantly challenging them musically.

@@faamecanic1970 cheers mate
I appreciate the extra love for Jason. Love that live intro
The extra love for my hero Jason Newsted 🤘🏼
...And Justice For Jason
That Symphony X bassline is absolutely insane 🔥
Just for putting Testament's Souls Of Black you deserve my respect
Sick Inspiration to learn practice and get the tone, thanks!!!
I cant believe you added I Can't Hide!!! That song is beyond underrated
"Come Sweet Death" by Bach is where Cliff got the inspiration from for Damage, Inc.
Cliff was ahead of his time ♫
Ngl, I was thinking my friend of misery wasn't going to make your list, but glad you included the live one specifically. I never heard that one before your video
I think it's from the Live Shit Binge & Purge - San Diego. Jason's Solo.
Some of my favorite bass intros:
Death - Spirit Crusher (Scott Clendenin)
Beyond Creation - The Aura (Dominic 'Forest' Lapointe)
Archspire - Drain of Incarnation (Jared Smith)
Alkaloid - Qliphosis (Linus Klausenitzer)
Death bass lines are so underrated.
Love that you included some tech death band ❤
Spirit Crusher has some awesome bass
Solus by First Fragment ( Dominic 'Forest' Lapointe) this guy is so crazy
NIB blows everything away in my opinion.
Geezer will forever be my favorite metal bassist

I'd also add Alice in Chains - Rotten Apple
That is a tasty bass riff. Good call. 👍
Would? as well!
@@crazeyjoeYup, Would is AIC at their absolute Best!
Great video brother! Man, when the beat kicks in on No More Tears, it's something else.
"Blood On The World's Hands" by Steve Harris. Lovely use of harmonics.
Spirit Crusher by Scott Clendenin
Knight jups the queen-annihilator that bassline is solid af 😮
Perfect!! Could have one more: 21 - Dark Tranquility - Lethe
Steve Digiorgio was on iced earth? Man I've been a fan and never new
I was not expecting Ollie Riedel!
Finally, bass video!
I like this man's tone
John Myung, Justin Chancellor and Michael Lepond. Insanely good
Evile-In Memoriam is also brilliant, doubly so because the entire song is an homage to their previous bass player Mike Alexander who sadly passed away.
dude this is divine timing i just started learning bass lol thank you!!
Just awesome!! Great job 🤘🏻😎loved it so much
Great covers Justin chancellor from tool uses a pick tho and Lemmy, also frank bello in got the time starts with a pick then switches to fingers
Domination!!! I was gonna be so pissed if it wasn't on here!
"Wrathchild" by Iron Maiden.
Amazing list.
0:38 ah yeah mustaines my fav bassist
he did write the riff though
Excellent bass playing very impressive
Una ejecución muy limpia de dedos y púa. Grande!!!!
FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS \m/ !! ! ! !
TIME MARCHES ON !!!
@@Александр-ф6р3г FOR WHOM THE BELL TOOOOOLLLLS!!
Nice list mate. My friend of misery reminds me the middle bass line from maiden's the rime of the ancient mariner song.
Really nice video. Lots of my favourites and some I didn't know
Alive and kicking - nonpoint .. nice bass 👍
Control Denied - What If (Steve Digiorgio)
Didn't expect to see Damien on here! Hell yes
I always thought the intro to Damage, Inc. was done by Kirk and James
Much like most feel Orion was done by Kirk or James. NOPE that was all Cliff (except for the ending where the guitar comes in).
Leaving Sea of Lies out in place for Domination is.... definitely a choice.
cheers! great stuff!
00:38 "MTV news" ... had to, sorry.
5:01 that transition
Congrats youre pro metal head bassist eminence , true hommage to real bands of Metal . Mano cornuta salutes ya
Nice tone comme d'habitude ;)
Awesome!
Your tone, man 🔥
Imo My Friend of Misery is the best on this list. So beautifully haunting.
Jason was so underrated🤘
Thanks for live My Friend of Misery variations! Cool! :D
No More Tears - Bob Daisley!!!
Bi " spirit crusher" giderdi be , onun haricinde güzel liste ! \m/ \m/ \m/
Sick video. Except that Peace Sells is played by David Ellefson, not Dave Mustaine as shown in the description.
The bass intro for Peace Sells was written by Mustaine.
True. But I thought he was referring to who executed the riff, not who wrote it.
@@wvpneto yeah, all of the bass line were written by the bassist except for Peace sells so it might cause some weird misunderstanding.
@@BobBob-ro3fd explain how the first song is a Joe Jackson cover song yet the credit is given to Frank Bello?

One more could be "just look around" from Sick of it all 🤘🏻😁

"Guyana" by Manowar
"Foliage" by Atomkraft
"Bastard Nation" by Overkill
FINALLY, SOMEONE MENTIONED SEEMANN!!
Badass SR300 . . .
The day I learn Panic Attack is the day I will have completed my journey as a bassist. I'll still play of course, but I know in my heart that there's no riff that's more satisfying to nail.
Great bass sound!!!! 🤟
Great video! Nice hommage to Jason! Will there be a top 100 vid?? ❤❤
critical mass has a great bass solo also!
Awesome video! Thanks a lot, man!😎🤙🔥🙂
Yine güzel bir video olmuş. Eline sağlık üstat
No Five Magics by Megadeth !
Bonus for doing Cliff's Day on the Green version
Merci ( From Avignon France)
Great selection. I am missing Guyana from Manowar - really an amazing Bass Intro as the whole album (imho the best they ever did) is full of great bass guitar.
The whole song is practically Bass, Drum and Vocal for 3 and a half minute. Awesome.
LOVELY video!
The Intro that I most like is "Ego Painted Gray" from Angra
Would? And Rotten Apple deserve to be here. Anyways, awesome video!
Thank you so much for not playing the overrated Hysteria intro by Muse and giving place to many others than are even better!!!
good bass sound
Well done my friend and Good tone🔥🤘🏼
Sea of lies - Symphony X is one of my personal faves
Guns N’ Roses - ‘Right Next Door to Hell’ was a badass Bass riff to open UYI
Great list.
How is Spirit Crusher by Death not on here?
Gözlerim orionu aradı
Nice!
I clicked for Schism. I stayed for Cliff Burton.
Such a great list - Damage Inc. 🤘
Amazing! What effect was applied to the last song?
God damn...Damage inc is a fucking master class...
