Really cool! I’m a bit new to metal (I’ve started exploring a few months ago), so this video really helps me to know and explore different genres and bands too. :) 👍
Awesome song choices. Although for industrial metal, I would have chosen something with a little more synths. Emphasis on industrial, to make it stand out from the other genres.
i hope i don't get lynched for asking .. but .. what's the difference between industrial and nu metal? all of of these genres have a unique vibe/energy/sound I'd recognize again - but industrial sounds like nu metal's boring little brother to me. in other words, if i heard the bit from 0:45 without the info, I wouldn't have thought it's its own genre, I'd have thought it's a filler track from a nu metal album.
I'm not sure "Replica" by Fear Factory was a good example of Industrial Metal. That entire album was a mix of 80's thrash, techno beats, and occasional electronic sounds. "Replica" was the most commercial and straightforward song of the bunch - not sure why it was used to represent the genre. Better example would be from the Godfathers themselves: Ministry. "Thieves" and "Burning Inside" (1989), plus "N.W.O." (1991). Usually Industrial Metal (in the early days) were electronic bands with an errant guitarist, or they were metal bands trying to be futuristic (like Fear Factory and Prong). Ministry got it right the first time, and were practically recording 90's music way back in the 1980's.
Well done! I didn't know some of those genres. I like most of the genres, music-wise, but it's the vocals more often than not that makes or breaks the song/artist for me.
@@slayerdagamer465There is stuff to notice here but a lot of the more immediately obvious differences are in the vocals and others are hard to convey with just small sections of songs :p I'd definitely recommend checkijg out different stuff!
The differences are bigger when you add vocals and context and background of each subgenre. Each subgenre have a disctinctive feel. Some riffs sound desperate, other are nasty, other rude, other more atmospheric or emotional, but need to listhen the whole songs to catch the vibe.
The differences are sometimes very minor, but metal genres get sublabeled to hell and back, in my opinion. I'm not sure whether it's beneficial to the genre or not. There's like a few distinct sounds that are definitely something entirely on it's own but there's a lot of intermixing that the intense subgenres aren't really that necessary.

Experimental Metal sounds like something you'd here in the game DUSK
It's awesome!
Also, thank you for playing an Incantation song, Diabolical Conquest is an insanely good album
Great video. I especialy enjoyed the fact that you made reference to the original bands of each genre. Amazing.
All this and no "speed metal"? 😅
Good video! Look forward to checking out your content
Death Metal from the 80s to today for me always 🔥
Superb as always!! cheers from El Salvador!
Whoa man! Incredifuckinble skills……and guitar collection! I love your channel!🤘🤘🤘
So amped too see candlemass! This was dope brother! Wizard on the strings!
i hope i don't get lynched for asking .. but .. what's the difference between industrial and nu metal? all of of these genres have a unique vibe/energy/sound I'd recognize again - but industrial sounds like nu metal's boring little brother to me. in other words, if i heard the bit from 0:45 without the info, I wouldn't have thought it's its own genre, I'd have thought it's a filler track from a nu metal album.
I feel like nu metal is more weird vocals and industrial drums sounds like a car engine
Klasse, wie immer!
Well done! I didn't know some of those genres. I like most of the genres, music-wise, but it's the vocals more often than not that makes or breaks the song/artist for me.
Excellent work Mr Suffocater...you even have the signature Tones of each artist down to a Tee including Dimebag... amazing
Gracias por incluir el maravilloso HAIR METAL, Un abrazo enorme desde Mallorca España.
Power, symphonic, gothic, viking/folk metal are my fav genres. Awesome video!
As someone who doesn't know music technically, I didn't notice a significant difference. But I really like listening to this genre
For real, I don’t understand the differences at all lol
Your video was awesome, dude. Thanks for the content. PS--Love seeing Dream Theater on the list.
