A couple of things that I’d like to point out is in Pokémon Snap they used the Japanese anime voice for Porygon, even though it was given an English voice for a “Who’s That Pokémon” segment. And in Poképark Wii, Porygon-Z had to have a voice made exclusively for that game, as it had not appeared in the anime. That’s two members of the Porygon line with three voices between them, and we still don’t have an anime-style voice for Porygon2!

Pokémon needs to bring in voice acting. The amount of times I've just listened through a bunch of Masters EX voice line vids to hear the different ways characters speak is insane. Not only that but the singing trainers like Piers and Ryme NEED their voices.

The big problem with voice acting in the mainline games, apart from characters and Pokémon having different names depending on the language, is that casting choices for all languages will not please everyone, and 100% choosing your language at the start of the game will restrict text AND voice to that for the whole game.
A lot of games only have japanese and english, I don't see the problem, just give the players a way to choose how they want play, with voices or without them aand in the language you prefer

I find that when a Pokémon game or anime is more serious and/or aimed at an older audience (see Pokémon Origins, shorts like Hisuian Snow), the Pokémon usually just make animal-like noises instead of saying their name, which I think is appropriate, as it feels more realistic and less silly.
Tbh even as a kid, I always wanted to hear the anime voices in the game. Especially jessie and james for pokemon yellow. Surprised gamefreak didn't contact them for their voices.
Another thing with smash bros, Lucario actually talks, having discernable voice lines, most memorable for me is the "MAX AURA!!" that happens when you use Lucario's final smash.
pretty sure that's not actual voice lines, also apparently he can't actually sing everything on his list, celebi's name apparently doesn't work lol, he just goes uncomfortably silent for a while
Do you remember who? I did that with my playthrough and it was a blast. Though...I gave Turo a stiff, robotic voice due to how formal he sounded, the same voice I'd given Ingo in my PLA playthrough, and ended up stumbling into the biggest twist in the game by accident
Speaking of Pokemon Stadium voice acting... It's said that in the localization of mu country, Italy, the man choosen to make the commentary was the same guy Who in that years was doing the TV commentary of... F1 races (and he was also a former driver) I'm not joking, It seems that he was It!
Another thing to consider is that pokemon games allow you to choose your name. And that helps with inmersion a lot. And all the characters refer to you by that name . But they wouldn't be able to use the name you choose in a voice acted game.
That’s a better excuse, but still not a great one for the most successful multi-medium franchise that isn’t just “Disney”. Simple solution: just… don’t… use the name in the conversations. Think about it, anyways. If you’re WITH someone talking you don’t normally need to use their name in the conversation, you can EASILY get away with it. Hell, I’ve seen games where they simply don’t say the name but it’s still in the text box but guess what; the sentences still make full sense.
I've specifically seen that in the Persona games, and yeah, it's a little funny that your friends always call you "him" and "this guy", but it's better to have the alternate line voiced than just have them saying.... nothing.
@@mastermarkus5307Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is not fully voiced unlike Three Houses. For Shez and Byleth, what that game does is only have their name said by character when the dialogue isn’t fully voiced. If it is fully voiced, Byleth is typically called “The Ashen Demon”, their mercenary nickname, while Shez is called some other stuff depending on the character mentioning them.
its a proper shame that they dont have proper voice acting expecally when all the major charaters are voiced in the anime. and with the games trying to be more cinimatic with people talking them just being silent is more and more jaring. what really sucks is for the adverts for the latest game to show off that gym leader with teh balls for hair the advert was her talking like a vtuber with her having a voice actor
I love that Pokémon Masters EX gives more life and character depth to the character giving us cannon voices but also how they interact with other characters that we dont get to see in anime or main line games. Also for those who know, they *cough* 'buffed' Cynthia. Which i hear some people are happy about
I'd take voice acting just during cutscenes, that way it's not so damn awkward watching them flap their lips in silence after I'm already done reading the text
17:16 I KNEW IT! I knew Penny had a british accent! Well, aside from the known fact that she is from Galar, this can be sorta seen(?) in the Indigo Mask DLC: When you invite Arven and Penny to the League Club classroom -or however it's called-, he basically scolds her because she doesn't eat her veggies, and when she asks him for his *source* of information, he mistakes it as "sauce". Like, I'm aware it can be just a joke about Arven only thinking in cooking/food related terms or just a dumb misunderstanding, BUT I think it was a nice detail if you missed the fact that she's from Galar.
They put voice acting in Zelda, and it removed the ability to name yourself. That was fine there, but it is much more important in Pokémon with the whole make your own adventure thing. But cuisines like Piers' singing should have voices.
6:11 literally if i heard that it would be so hype and id just imagine she sounds like that lol Like....they add voices in the song but no voice acting ? Come on The poor performers 😢 A singer with the only sound unironically being his sneakers moving is so sad That could have been a cut scene at least 💔
A lot of emotional cutscenes feel so dead with only the soundtrack playing while someone is monologue-ing. So, I think Pokemon is overdue for voice acting. They have the chance with the new Legends game.
Good to see Detective Pikachu games are being acknowledged (even if the sequel has some poor optimization and the gameplay is meant for kids). I prefer the games over the movie, but eh. Fun fact, Tim and Racheal's voice actor in the sequel are actually a couple lol Funnily enough, I would argue that some of the characters are much more explored in Masters than whatever the fandom or the OG games are gonna pull out (unless your name is Leon). What, can't accept Whitney being a brat (even tho Clair is worse)? She's great there. At this point, the main line games should just go with Pokemon Masters/New Pokemon Snap approach, where it's just snippets of voiced lines on important scenes or some exploration stuff.

Anyway I have a heck of a good time voicing all the games when i play them! And you can check them out in my history. I do voice work in a lot of projects (if you've ever watched anything by Rabtoons I'm probably in it) but doing these playthroughs is a special time!
I think it’s because the player can name themselves
I find that when a Pokémon game or anime is more serious and/or aimed at an older audience (see Pokémon Origins, shorts like Hisuian Snow), the Pokémon usually just make animal-like noises instead of saying their name, which I think is appropriate, as it feels more realistic and less silly.
I remember it was weird in Generations when Pikachu made these weird squeaks because all I could think of is "mice don't sound like that"
Tbh even as a kid, I always wanted to hear the anime voices in the game.
Especially jessie and james for pokemon yellow. Surprised gamefreak didn't contact them for their voices.
Another thing with smash bros, Lucario actually talks, having discernable voice lines, most memorable for me is the "MAX AURA!!" that happens when you use Lucario's final smash.
And "watch the power of Aura!"
I love your videos soo much please make more shorts and long form videos too man❤
You forgot the grandpa npc in pokemon emerald that can sing any four words you give him
pretty sure that's not actual voice lines, also apparently he can't actually sing everything on his list, celebi's name apparently doesn't work lol, he just goes uncomfortably silent for a while
Never watched one of your long form videos, I’ve been missing out
I didn’t expect the video to turn into a horror movie at that ending there seesh
This feels like a college presentation
When a previous generations has more voice acting than the modern games
I remember seeing someone do voice overs for SV cutscenes and their really good
Do you remember who? I did that with my playthrough and it was a blast.
Though...I gave Turo a stiff, robotic voice due to how formal he sounded, the same voice I'd given Ingo in my PLA playthrough, and ended up stumbling into the biggest twist in the game by accident
@@BJGvideos Dr. Bonehead. Just search up “Pokemon scarlet and Violet with voice acting”, and look for their name
17:16 Penny is British but this spices up the theory of Peony is Penny's dad.
I thought the theory for awhile was it was rose
@@compassrose1466She says "Ultra mega annoying" and berates her dad on the phone for taking about "Adven-tours"
If im not mistaken the poison leader form gen 5 had voice acting for her song
And the entrance for Elesa the electric gym leader has that iconic "GIVE ME WHAT I NEEEEEED" **sashays down the runway**
i remember playing ds and hearing roxie yell pokemon. it was nice
Speaking of Pokemon Stadium voice acting...
It's said that in the localization of mu country, Italy, the man choosen to make the commentary was the same guy Who in that years was doing the TV commentary of...
F1 races (and he was also a former driver)
I'm not joking, It seems that he was It!
Pokken looks and sounds so cool ! Is it as cool as I expect ?
In any case a mainline pokémon similar to this would be great imo.
4:32 Fun fact fox's actually laugh like a toddler
Hey, Erica Mendez only voiced Pac-Man in the video game!
In the show, he was voiced by Erin Matthews.
Erica Mendez also is the new VA for Noire/Black Heart in the HyperDimension Neptunia series
i love the sudden bass boosted, bit-crushed "PIKA"
Well penny is related to an adventurous dad in galar
the charizard poping from nowhere proud of himself when Red said - "You did it charizard!" made my day
Me and my brother screaming calm voicelines while he voice acts miriadon is also fun
pokken tournament for the switch was the first pokemon game I played, it was also the first game that I played on a nintendo console period.
wake up babe newsteevie uploaded
11:06 oh god that unlocked a deeeep core memory, i played the hell out of that as a kid or it was a fever dream i cant remember
its a proper shame that they dont have proper voice acting expecally when all the major charaters are voiced in the anime. and with the games trying to be more cinimatic with people talking them just being silent is more and more jaring. what really sucks is for the adverts for the latest game to show off that gym leader with teh balls for hair the advert was her talking like a vtuber with her having a voice actor
Why does everyone keep calling her a vtuber when she appears in person?
Love your videos! Great editing and great choice of music, persona 4 is based
I love that Pokémon Masters EX gives more life and character depth to the character giving us cannon voices but also how they interact with other characters that we dont get to see in anime or main line games.
Also for those who know, they *cough* 'buffed' Cynthia. Which i hear some people are happy about
Shout out to everyone who is 100% completed Pokémon Playhouse. It was the first ever a Pokémon game I played.
I'd take voice acting just during cutscenes, that way it's not so damn awkward watching them flap their lips in silence after I'm already done reading the text
17:16 I KNEW IT! I knew Penny had a british accent! Well, aside from the known fact that she is from Galar, this can be sorta seen(?) in the Indigo Mask DLC:
When you invite Arven and Penny to the League Club classroom -or however it's called-, he basically scolds her because she doesn't eat her veggies, and when she asks him for his *source* of information, he mistakes it as "sauce". Like, I'm aware it can be just a joke about Arven only thinking in cooking/food related terms or just a dumb misunderstanding, BUT I think it was a nice detail if you missed the fact that she's from Galar.
I swear there's more and more similarities between Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda with every video I watch on either of the two topics

OMG this comment is so uncreative how dare you
@@NathanaeltheDestroyerIDK 😐
I used to play Pokemon camp and Pokemon playhouse as a little kid and this reminded me they existed .
They put voice acting in Zelda, and it removed the ability to name yourself. That was fine there, but it is much more important in Pokémon with the whole make your own adventure thing. But cuisines like Piers' singing should have voices.
4:26 They aren't the only pokemon that scream their name
There are other pokemon which cry is their name, for example: Mimikyu
Mimikyu's cry is an imitation of the word Pikachu without using actual vocals which happens to coincide with Mimikyu's cry
@@Gamebuilder2000 you said mimikyu's cry concides with mimikyu's cry
About the thumbnail: I like how Red is just saying '...' and Pikachu is singing with 'Pika'
6:11 literally if i heard that it would be so hype and id just imagine she sounds like that lol
Like....they add voices in the song but no voice acting ?
Come on
The poor performers 😢
A singer with the only sound unironically being his sneakers moving is so sad
That could have been a cut scene at least 💔
Waint, did not also Meowth talk in pokemon masters? When you pic James as one of your favorite he can show up together with Meowth.
The PAC is so BACK!
The background chatter you played from SV sounds like stock audio. So they might not have even recorded _that._
You missed the singing on the Village Bridge in the Black and White and even in their sequel games
A lot of emotional cutscenes feel so dead with only the soundtrack playing while someone is monologue-ing. So, I think Pokemon is overdue for voice acting. They have the chance with the new Legends game.
Voice 'em yourself that's what I do
11:28 - 11:31 *inaudible chatting*
Ash: i'm gonna win >:)
11:49 - 12:00 quite the explanation
12:03 that laugh is actually funny
No mention of Pokedex 3D/Pokedex 3D pro, Smash Bros Lucario being Goku, or the iconic “PEEE PEEE!!!”
Well, Smash 4 and Ultimate Lucario anyway. In Brawl he had a different VA
I completely forgot who voices goku
Good to see Detective Pikachu games are being acknowledged (even if the sequel has some poor optimization and the gameplay is meant for kids). I prefer the games over the movie, but eh.
Fun fact, Tim and Racheal's voice actor in the sequel are actually a couple lol
Funnily enough, I would argue that some of the characters are much more explored in Masters than whatever the fandom or the OG games are gonna pull out (unless your name is Leon). What, can't accept Whitney being a brat (even tho Clair is worse)? She's great there.
At this point, the main line games should just go with Pokemon Masters/New Pokemon Snap approach, where it's just snippets of voiced lines on important scenes or some exploration stuff.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but the crowd chant on Sword/Shield Gym Battle Theme
I think they should do the Super Mario Sunshine route and use subtitles for non-english versions.
3:02 😂 king dedede is so famous in the Kirby anime! His laugh is so famous and I love it! ^^
GIMME WHAT I NEEEEED~!!!
Absolute heat for real for real...
Also Oak in Snap is blessed, but bruh nah my ass was not close 😭
One beautiful thing that cane out of masters ex giving characters more personality though the way they talk is making blue mispronounce "bonjour"
