    I live in California and I'm lucky to have both of these pistols featured in this video. The picking are indeed slim regarding buying a Springfield Armory pistol in this state.

    A loaded was my first 1911. What an excellent gun, everything you need and nothing you don't. Plus it shoots like a dream

    I've had mine since '04 and like it quite well, although I have made a few changes to it. The first change was to replace that ILS mainspring housing for one made by Wilson. Second, that the full length guide rod was replaced by a standard one so I'd be able to take it apart anywhere without having a wrench. It has had a few different grip panels but finally I've settled on the Magpul grips which to me are the best I've tried on a 1911.
    I've thought seriously a few times about splurging and buying a Springfield TRP but this one does all I need it to do and basically has the same features as the TRP, just not quite as refined.

    @BikerBry one of the things I can say about both the loaded and RO models is that a lot of folks don't care for front slide serrations for one. Also, it's usually not heard out in the open much but it's very very loud in the gun rags about the difference between the N and NM serial number prefixes. All ROs have the NM prefix but not all loaded models have it. Notice how all of the TRP, Trophy Match or upper tier factory models have always had the NM serial number. N models are forged slides and frames entirely built in Brazil or less than 50% fit and finished here in the U.S. NM models are forged slide and frames at Imbel still but sent back to the U.S. for 50% or more final fit and finish with no Brazil or Imbel stampings on the frame and they do have a noticeble difference in refinement. I'm not comparing or saying one is better but if you get a chance lay the two different prefixed pistols side by side and you will see what I mean starting with the finish on the carbon steel models. Springfields are great pistols regardless and they know what they are doing obviously.

      I did buy the Loaded version. The info on "Brazil made" is old. I am told they are all forged and All made in the US now, even the castings. They actually put a "Made in USA" Tag on it as well. The fit on this pistol is phenomenal. No slide movent, the barrel to bushing is tight and and the trigger is second to none. I couldn't see the RO being "better" than this pistol. Springfield has really stepped up their game. I think with Colt's problems lately, they made a wise choice bringing this type of quality. Go check one out lately if you havent. I'd dare to say fitment damned near custom level.

    @BikerBry I have found out that I have old info like you said lol. On Imbel's site the state that they are a former partner with SA. I have had a few NM models and they are sweet. I have a Kimber custom TLE II that I'm debating selling to get one of the SA newer offerings in the loaded line. Always been a Springfield lover at heart.

      +1911heaven Kimbers are good firearms, I have the Raptor 2.The problem people have with Kimbers are the long break in period. I'd keep it for you collection. I just bought the 1911 Loaded and I love it, great to shoot, accurate, no failures of any kind, best spent money for a "loaded" package. Nothing to add unless you want to get mag well or magazines with bump plate.

    Something else I forgot too- There is a myth circulating about how the RO has some actual custom shop refinements- NO. The RO is a production pistol not semi custom like the TRP. The RO is a very nice pistol though and a great shooter. Some people don't like ambi safeties either which a lot of the loaded line has and the RO does not. The RO was designed with the entry level competition shooter in mind, not another self defense or combat pistol offering although that could be changed easily.

    I bought the Mil Spec recently and it is such a sweetie. I was going to mod it out but I think I'll just pick up a SA 1911 with all the features, like a loaded. I'm in Ca and it is getting really tough to find guns that are on that damn roster.

    OK, I have some range time with this pistol.... damn this is a beautiful shooting gun. They are NOT made in Brazil, they are now completely made in the USA. They now have match grade barrels and Match grade triggers. This is easily the best pistol I own. The front slide serrations and full length guide rod are not an issue and neither is the ambidextrous safety. I don't know what people get butt hurt about it. I don't like the extra step in taking it down, but it really is not anything too bad.

    • @mattarchey559

      It doesn't take "extra time" to take the manual safety down. You take the safety down while you draw. So literally it doesn't take extra time at all.

      So what ya get? If you have the money get the TRP

    • @tylerandrew7563
      @tylerandrew7563 5 років тому

      From my understandings the loaded stainless does not come with night sights it come with a standard Novak rear sight, or an adjustable rear sight as to where the loaded parkarized version comes with night sights, I do not own either firearms but have been heavily researching one, and that is what I have found.

    why does everyone seem to favor the RO over the loaded?

    • @KeanonGilliamSlang369
      @KeanonGilliamSlang369 8 років тому

      +BikerBry Probably because they hear Rob Leatham talk about it so much as a semi base gun that can be used in competition for a beginner.

    Wondering why it took 6 shots to deflate 5 large balloons. I would have preferred to se some shooting at a target, at 15, 25, or 50 yards. Nothing in the video shows how well it can shoot in good hands....
