@IPA SOLÉ James Hong was in such a wide varieties of films and TV shows for over 40 years, from X-Files-Miami Vice-Rockford Files-The Big Bang Theory-Blade Runner-Big Trouble In Little China for example. Look at his filmography and television career. Those you mentioned are not even close.
20+ years later I realize he lists 8 animal styles including the Beatle. The crane, the stag, the horse, the tiger, the bat, the rat, the monkey, the beatle.
At least with anime, the issue is a combo of bad translating and not having the established talent pool of voice actors that Japan does. Sentence structure comes into play. Occasionally mouth movements which show vowel sounds (like Spriggan) also come into play, but that is on the rare side (and really forces the people making the English version to really think about how to translate it). Here with effort & talent dubbing can work for the most part, in principle at least if not in practice. With live action the mouth movements, the difference in syntax and the fact that there is much more body language on display (doing this in anime, or any animation for that matter, adds a fair amount of money to what is needed simply due to there being more animation and this there is noticeably less of it) makes dubbing live action far harder to do in a way that isn't jarring. With exceptions being cases like Das Boot, where _everything_ was a dub regardless of language. As well as the fact that the English dub used most of the main cast as themselves for it. Not to mention the sentence structure being far closer to English than something from east Asia or something like that (leading to the body movement matching the translation better) I love animation. Anime being the biggest chunk of that. Given the choice between original Japanese dub and a crap English one, I will always take subs. But if the dubs are of equal or near equal levels for quality I prefer a language I can understand. Though in the 30 or so years I have been watching anime (which I knew was anime before seeing it) there are a grand total of 2 English dubs I completely approve of. The first Hellsing series and Overlord I, II & III.
0:14 ok here are the two best parts of this entire scene: Jeff's little "heh" as he turns to galavant down the stairs. And if you let it continue to play, his little "lalalalalala" taunt to Wayne.
Shrek VS. Po's dad.
TheRealGunfish probably battling to see which Dreamworks Franchise is superior!
It’s Mr. Ping from Kung Fu Panda.
Dont forget the final boss in Big Trouble in Little China
And we got the long-awaited sequel this year: Oscar vs Marty at the 2022 Oscars.
The old guy was actually trained by the dragon himself. Bruce Lee
That's Lo Pan from Big Trouble in Little China. He knows plenty, he was in Bloodsport 2 and 3, also.
@@fallguye6011 His kung-fu is good.
@@fallguye6011 His name is James Hong. He was also in Blade Runner.
@@MrBlueSkyof1607 he was funny in balls of fury!
Maybe that’s why he was a terrible host at the Chinese restaurant. Can’t even remember the names he put on the reservations list: ‘’Cartwright?!’’
0:48 "The Beatle" LOL
CONGRATULATIONS to James Hong for finally getting his star on Hollywood Walk Of Fame
Him drumming as Ringo kills me every time
0:48 😂😂
James Hong is a legend, he has been in so many movies and TV shows. For an Asian actor he had the greatest career.

@IPA SOLÉ Hell in the Pacific > anything Hong has done..... and to be fair it is not like Hong is just some crap actor.
@IPA SOLÉ Those guys are long gone. Hong is 93 and still working.
Don't forget Seinfeld
Doesn’t he have the longest IMDB credit list out of any actor?
"Oh no!"
I laughed so hard when I first saw that as a kid.
The spritual predecessor to The Matrix.
Love James Hong. So great!
They nailed this scene🤣🤣
Zang.
It kills me when 'Jeff' starts speaking American... this is still one of the funniest films ever made! They should make a new one!
You know it would have Racism warnings now.
English.....American isn't a language
@@lawrenceanthony8468 Yea.... obviously
Even funnier at the wedding scene where he is still dubbed saying "what a shithead."
It's called 'English Dubbed'.
I saw this movie only once, but it gave me the headaches as my JAW got tired, Cassandras expression in her face, WOW!!! Waynes World??? Excellent !!!!!
Love tia
I laughed my ass off at this as a kid in the 90s and still do now in my 30s lol
James hong is a legend
This was a great parody of the Hong Kong 🇭🇰 martial arts films, that were extremely overdub, it was so funny 😂
IPA SOLÉ that’s true, but Tarantino is in a class by himself, he’s a true artist
Funny stuff
I cannot stop laughing with this scene! It’s too darn funny 😂😂😂
It's excellent! Pun intended!
20+ years later I realize he lists 8 animal styles including the Beatle. The crane, the stag, the horse, the tiger, the bat, the rat, the monkey, the beatle.
I will take you old man
But the beatle! Him drumming as Ringo still kills me.
The Monkee
The best part is when he answers the phone. FREAKING HILARIOUS!!!!!
They simply don’t know how to make movies like this anymore…is the generation clearly
1:33 it's fat bastard's wire fight maneuver from austin powers 3 xD
1:26 LMAO LIU KANG!
Did Liu kang did that kick from mortal kombat game in 1992?
Amazing how Wayne was able to slice up the Jeans he was wearing but his skin under the jeans remained entirely intact.
What's even more amazing is how they returned to 'normal' in the next shot.
@IPA SOLÉ cool man
Funny stuff great movies good times
He knows quack fu
@2:10 still kills me james Hong is the best
Wayne's W🌎rld 2. Zang👍. Party on. Waynestock.
Every second of this scene is pure amazement 😂
1:26 and 1:33 are the Parts that make Me fall on the floor dying of Laughter lmao 😆
Shades of Inspector Clouseau with the phone gag - hilarious.
1:27 - Perfectly level, low-speed flying kick! XD
I miss the 90’s 😢
the phone part mostly cracked me up.
I just noticed the phone is on a radiator. That ain’t a safe place to put a phone.
1:38 - 1:42 got me I almost died lol.
Super Sayan transformation x)
This is absolutely hilarious!
This is typical protocol when you meet your girls asian parents. After we're done, we eat Panda Express. 😂😂😂
THE BALLS
The funny thing is, the old man hardly used any wiring. and Mike had to use wiring for the entire fighting scene.
I can't believe I'm the first person to acknowledge this comment in 10 fucking years.
the 90`s when they still made great films, and this scene reminds me of watching old kung fun films back in the day.
"the beat", he's playing the drums
twist and shout, faster and on a different scale :)
I love this! Even the Spontaneous Shirt Rip is funny!
+YoshiAngemon It was also funny how Wayne put rips on his pants at 2:00 but then at 2:04 the rips were gone.
K cmon guys.. im chinese, and i love the real kungfu movies and all, but this shits hilarious LOL
0:08 the one thing I like about anime
“ you know what will be better, if we’re in dub than subtitles”

Conan O'Brien's chat with Jim Downey brought me here. lol
You were not brought upon this world to “get it”, Mister Campbell!
2:42 LoL all his years of honorable fighting he never felt a cheap shot before
Love his scream when he charges at Wayne hahahah even Wayne's scream lol
His jeans jajajajajajajaja Thanks for upload this video... go to my favourites...
Thumps up for the selfrepairing jeans at 2:00
0:14 ok here are the two best parts of this entire scene: Jeff's little "heh" as he turns to galavant down the stairs. And if you let it continue to play, his little "lalalalalala" taunt to Wayne.
2:42 You hear his nads explode before the drop from his pants...
Nobody fucks with Lo Pan, except Jack Burton.
"That's a good knife.""
"Goodbye, Mr. Burton!"
"It's all in the reflexes!"
“The beetle”
"Look, we came here to see David Lopan."

1:05 Cue "Kung Fu Fighting" performed by Carl Douglas.
@ChipmunkRaccoon3 Its an actual song its called twist and shout
Cassandra's response @ 2:10 when the sword only just missed her is excellent - very corny martial arts film response!!
Classic!! Luv this scene. Couldn't stop laughing. :D
jajajaja xD Twist And Shout :D Great!!! :)
@ChipmunkRaccoon3 That is part of Twist and Shout, but it might not be the original due to copyright issues
Po’s dad kick arse!
Try watching the subtitles in the absence of the actual subtitles.

The eye guy in Bladerunner
0:08-0:12 Wayne is saying that they should be dubbed instead of being in subtitles, but I guess the subtitles were cut off at the bottom.
1:25 press Forward, Forward, High Kick
Dads dub voice is dope
0:39 - 0:48 Actually that was 8 animal styles, not 7.😂
Kevin Richards that’s the joke!
this sort of reminds me of a dubbed kung fu film, and waynes world is just another example of all the great comedys that came out during the 90s.
I want to know who did James Hong’s voice dubbing. And Paul Reubens’ voice dubbing in the movie-within-a-movie in Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.
In Conan's podcast, Jim Downey said it was his voice dubbing James Hong
Dubbed Mr. Wong sounds like Master Chief John 117!
Wayne better watch out, this guy isn't some "little old basket case on wheels".
2:41
UNLEASH THE CRANE NUTSHOT!
Wayne Literally Kicked Jeff Wong’s Balls.
the bet
lol
zang!
Melhor cena de luta de toda história do cinema kkkk
1:40 dramatic chipmunk
