Same happened to me in Martin Place in Sydney about 30 years ago. As clueless as I was about what Scientology was, but thought a free personality test sounded pretty cool! So I went with him to the church building in Sydney, can’t remember which street but I think it was Elizabeth street. I started doing the test and about 5 minutes into it, it dawned on me that they were trying to find out some pretty weird stuff. So I took my pencil and test to the lady behind the desk and said, “no, this isn’t for me. I have people at home who care about me!” And promptly left the building with her calling out “but no, it’s not like that!

L. Ron Hubbard and Robert A. Heinlein made a bet in a bar one night either that L. Ron could not create a religion, or to see who could create a religion first. (In the second case, Stranger in a Strange Land is often cited as Heinlein's effort.) Believe it or not
The church of all worlds is Heinlein's version. Not big but I run into members occasionally. Perhaps established in st. Louis I don't remember. Stranger in ...... Was a great book until I got to that last "thou art god" and realized it was a repeat of the Jesus story. Haha. Now my favorite book of all time is battlefield earth by Hubbard, while Heinlein is my favorite author.
I looked into that a while back and I think that there is no evidence to support this and there might even be evidence to disprove it. But it is an old story. One of the things that weighs against it being true is that Hubbard wanted the American Psychiatric Association to approve Dianetics as a valid way of treating patients, and they rejected it: rightfully so. He lost his mind and until his death was 100% against any therapies other than Dianetics and Scientology. This makes it seem like he _started out_ to create something more scientific than a religion. Then he needed a tax dodge....

I would disagree that Scientology would target young people. Honestly I believe they'd rather target older people since they tend to have more money, but the problem with older people is that it's much more difficult to convince them of literally anything. Older people aren't more intelligent, or wiser by nature. There's plenty of them dumb as a rock, but they just have a harder time changing.
I think most of the people who are older and have money and enter the cult don't do it because they actually believe in this nonsense, I think they do it because they like the sense of power and the special status and protection the cult gives them. Tom Cruise for example, he is too smart not to see through the bullshit, but he stays because he likes being treated like a God

FL Scientology buildings are filled with people from 'third world countries' doing whatever work they're told to do. Life here is evidently better than in their home countries; their work, food, clothes, etc - which doesn't say much for their homelands based on the horror stories of former members from the USA, Australia and the like. I've wondered if they were brought here to 'work' w/o becoming actual members or were they sold a bill of goods like the M-----s do to not illiterate but not the most modern thinking people (and these get to come to America). They won't talk to people on the street--just get off their bus and go into their building. Sheep.
A video was released recently that showed how they fit 11 people into an incredibly small hotel room that has just one bathroom! The UA-camr See Aaron Smith-Levin discussed his experience in one of those same hotel rooms and explained why it can cost up to a thousand dollars a month to be there and do training and then work in the evenings or weekends! See his Growing Up in Scientology channel for balanced discussions and analysis. He just passed 100k! It was on his channel that I found the phrase, "The Aftermath Foundation can help you if you blow," which is more helpful than yelling "Xenu!" at people. Offering something helpful is better than confronting them with things that their training makes them shut down on contact with. Especially if people in the Sea Org leave or, in Scientology jargon, blow, they'll just owe even more money to Scientology, and will have difficulties finding a place to live, etc. The Aftermath Foundation can help them with that and a million other small difficulties that they'd run across outside of CoS, which can add up pressure quickly, especially if their family is still in Scientology and considers them suppressive people. Aaron's heart-rending story can be seen on Netflix (in the US at least) in the first season either episode three or seven. Their neighbor, who was a fellow Scientologist at that time, was more concerned about how their disconnection (shunning) was going to affect his dog rather than his small children! Sigh.

The Nazis evolved in the same way this cult is evolving. The language they use is the same, their intimidation tactics are the same and the indoctrination of their children is the same.
See Aaron Smith-Levin's Growing Up in Scientology channel for balanced discussions and analysis. He just passed 100k!

Scientology, science for little people.
scientology has a small element of truth. that's the hook.
Love the psychological quackery it was called.
To the contrary, it's well known that Co$ targets young people. No debt, easier to brainwash. So, yeah, you're incorrect.
Wrong they want young people to join the sea org and work for free for 20 hours a day before they get fed up and run away

Sigh.
