      Yes, they do. It seems right now that most only want to pay the high prices at GovPlanet instead of buying for the same, or sometimes cheaper prices from small businesses that fully refurbish them like I do though. Bit of a head scratcher for me! I'm seeing them sell for way more in unknown condition at auction than I'm selling refurbished ones for!

    Military Gen sets have a very clean sin wave which is great for long term use on appliances and anything using a circuit system. Best to stick with older units that have less electronics which always act up during long usage periods or when the ambient temperature is hot. While in Iraq our older tactical quiet Gen sets ran fine for weeks on end but not so for larger and more complicated units. Incorporating an automatic throw circuit for your home is a good idea and most modern military Gen sets can function with an automatic system.

    Have a MEP-802A and Mep-803A If I get a chance, I'll pick up A MEP-1040. Don't know why, just like military generators. I changed my 802A over to a mechanical fuel pump. There is a cover plate on the side of the engine. The pumps are cheap, and available. Need to mode the fuel lines, get, or make a fuel pump rod that goes between the fuel pump and the cam shaft. Made mine out of a bolt that I turned down to the right diameter, had to guess at the length. But it works great. I use an old clothes dryer as a load. You lucked out. But your troubleshooting is effective.
    I also bought an MEP-831A Got it producing power, put wheels on it, and then the inverter went out. I'll never buy another one.

    • @CallMeColtLLC
      @CallMeColtLLC  6 місяців тому +5

      I know you can change to a mechanical lift pump. I thought about doing a video on that, but there is a reason the military went with the electrical one. It was to prevent run away engines. If there is some sort of failure with to governor or shut of linkage, when power is cut, it may not stop right away, but it will run out of fuel in the filters after 30 seconds or so. There is a kit to change an MEP 831A to a traditional generator. I have plans to make a video on this. I may have an inverter for sale down the road as well.
