Just in case you haven't already figured out your audio.. I've been listening with headphones, and I think you lost the left side of your stereo input, just a few minutes before you lost audio completely.. Unless I'm mistaken, that suggests the plug on an external microphone started to fall out and only had 2/3 portions of it making contact.. Until it wiggled far enough that it wasn't making any contact? Idk, just thought I'd throw out my theory! Thank you for the enjoyable content!

@@jholliday212 Yes I think that's right. The common audio connectors with "steps" on the length of the connection, like 3.5 or 2.5 jacks, have the different channels on different steps. The left channel is usually on the very tip, so when it's not fully plugged in the left channel is lost first.
A tip for anyone watching on a windows PC: Type "mono" into the search bar and it'll take you to an audio settings page where you can turn on mono audio, that makes all speakers work at times like this. I always turn it back off after though cause you loose the benefits of stereo.

This comment makes me wonder if my hearing is abnormal. I wear headphones and the left/right channel problem actually makes it physically unpleasant and I had to stop.
So, either my hearing sensitivity is really out of whack, or for some reason people like to give suuuper sugar coated feedback. I like this channel but I couldn't watch this video and I'm hoping he gets it fixed soon.

Maybe have a 2nd camera going when filming, set to ultra low video quality to optimize sd card, just as an audio backup. And/or a continuous record (with overwrite) digital audio recorder on a battery bank.
Over on Fab Rats channel, they've had to pull audio from their security cameras a few times when their main filming rig lost sound.
Voice overs and music are ok also. :-) .

@@chrisoakey9841 To me it looks like Matt using 2 wireless mics connected to one receiver and each of them writes audio only to one channel. Not an expert on audio equipment, but judging on the fact that Matt is audible only on right channel, and left channel becomes audible only when other guy starts talking or really loud things happening (like pony motor running) looks like audio equipment is running in the mode that allows connecting 2 transmitters to single receiver, but tradeoff is that you get only mono audio for each mic combined into single stereo track. Matt needs to extract each channel to separate track before using it.

I am actually needing a new engine for my TD25B, same engine and everything as the TD25C , they didn't really change much between them. International was way ahead of the game by decades with their planetary steering, my TD25 would run circles around D8's, mine is just over 80,000 pounds with rippers and a semi-U blade.

I suggest that some research would show that the round platform just above the top shive is to carry a spool of cable, that feeds to the front wedge. The purpose is to periodically cut a lenth off the winch end of the cable, which moves the high wear sections of the cable, prolonging the total life of the cable. I enjoy watching you saving these old cable machines, there were a few around when I was young, did work with a few, mostly cranes and pull scrapers.

Hello, at Time code : 20.43 , by my experience, when you "in" the cable on the winch, guide it during the 1st ""couch"', take that care that the cable is strictly joined in order that the 2 "tour" will go touch to touch and so on on th 3 tour.. the cable will not be urted by that (hope that my english words are right ).🤐🤨🤔😉😊
Nice vidéo i like those "old" machine.!!🙂
    Thank you.👍👍👍👍👍

That double hammer technique really works well as it gives you a bigger target to swing at. I used to straighten instrument panels that kept getting bent due to a heavy part by using a mallet to tap a ball peen hammer held against the high spot. Worked every time!

I don't know. I want to say that many UA-camrs have some technical difficulties now and then. Only, they never really show it. You, on the other hand, "here's the rest of the stuff, it's muted so enjoy some added music!". Like, I appreciate the transparency. And still enjoyed the rest of the video!

I love the dynamic you and Sam have, reminds me of my old workplace in a shipyard everyone taking the piss out of each other and having a laugh to get through the day.

I've been catching up on all your videos. I'm amazed at your knowledge and feel for the engines and adjuncts. I grew up around these old machines. My dad was with International Harvester for nearly forty years. I used to play on these machines when they were new in the showroom when I went into work with him on a Saturday ( Don't tell OSHA!) I was no more than eight.
I follow along with you and old memories come back as you diagnose the problems. I guess something stuck in the back of my brain as I was the kid freezing my butt off in february holding the drop light and fetching the tools.

Thanks, this video brings back a few memories for me. I helped change the cable on our old D8 around 1980, except our audio wasn't filled music 😉. Amazingly, when the everything is adjusted properly the cable blade operates very smooth and flawlessly.
