Mike… Russel laughing and everyone joking before the final battle is perfect. You gotta keep it lighthearted and the vibes up when you know shits gonna pop off. I think they capture it perfectly in this movie 🫡

Lots of people when under duress react with involuntary humor and laughter. It's like a companion to the adrenaline and fear. Coping mechanism. My wife is one of those weirdos.

Old tech attaching to a new network would just trigger a firmware update. And 2 way communication is assured because the old tech has to signal the new network that the patch is done and it is ready to participate in standard network activities.

It’s a great movie it revived the sci fi genre in the 90s the best one since Star Wars 1977 a new hope. It’s a perfect movie with strong and exiting charachterisations and a coherent story.

“When they took him up in the spaceship, the aliens abused him… sexually.”

I always wonder if this movie was supposed to be a remake/retelling of War of the worlds. They have the alien invasion basically being solved by a "virus" after all conventional means have failed.

And many time sin this episode Mike said "That's now how that works" about an alien invasion action movie with Will Smith in the lead. That should be explanation enough about the fantastical nature of the situation, but if you really need real world parallels... there are none. Up down left right, speed up, slow down, and all as part of a seriously advanced culture. We are nearing driverless as a standard here. Why would you assume their crqazy advanced race would have difficult to control spacecraft? The mother ship is shitting out 15 milers for F sakes.

A light year is how far you travel in one year at the speed of light. The nearest assumed habitable planet that we know of is 24.81 trillion miles away (4.22 light years). In 6 months you could cover 2.94 trillion miles. All of this assuming light speed travel is possible and wormhole tech isnt real yet.

If it's cloudy and the planes are flying above the clouds you can't see them. So... what are you on about Mike?

It appeared like they were creating clouds not that it was already cloudy.

@@ConfusedBreakfast Heat + condensation = moisture clouds. Look up some old re-entry vids from the shuttle, and then imagine that happening with something 1000x the size.

Waveform communication is how we arrived at the technologies we cling to... in nature. Yes the concept is ludicrous but so is the entire movie based on what we have experienced so far. We assume their race is a bunch of fuck ups that require locked networks and heavy security, because we are projecting. They may be a very efficient drone like culture. Assume we are the first advanced civilization they have discovered. So they don't have malicious scans and such. I;m sure the next advanced planet their species encounters will have a much harder time after they complete their Stop Malicious Software project on their home planet.

Feels like you guys (not you sean) are really reaching to find something to complain about boys. Pretty sure the prez wasnt asking anyone to shout morse code from the rooftops. I believe it's known as a "figure of speech". It's ok though. I see through your silly ruse.
