I'm off today and ready for this wild ride while I clean up my place. Shoutout to Greg and Nick for the costumes. I love these even more than the Bad Boys ones. 🤣
What about if you have no toes and you have special shoes to help you walk... My grandpa had cancer and due to residual side effects of chemo theapy he had to have all of his toes cut off to prevent infection so he has these special shoes on, and he wears them from the moment he wakes up until he goes to bed... I'm conflicted about this cuz yes I agree it's gross but he has to and wants to walk and Im sure it would be a bitch to put them on Everytime he wants to get up and walk... Thoughts?
DCEU in Review just makes me want to see a Superman movie directed by Nick Scarpino with Greg as a consultant as the Superman expert. Make it happen WB
Okay so I'm only at the 2 hour mark but you guys are killing me! The Knightmare is intended to be a scene from Justice League 2 or 3. It was intended to be Flash coming back to try and fix things and we would see that scene from the League/Flash's perspective in the second or third film. I honestly do feel like the questions this film leaves are totally fine if you're only doing this story, the issue is that WB was working on a DCU when this should be a self contained story. I want to see this finished as a graphic novel because to me, this film is made with such an abundance of stuff that wouldn't bother anyone if it were just a contained comic story. On the point of Batman murdering: every film version has done this other than Clooney maybe. Even the Bale Batman kills several people in his trilogy and to get so hung up about a clearly jaded Batman killing people is just silly to me. At least unlike Bale, Batfleck doesn't make a point to act like he's better than that. And if somehow you cannot make the basic observation that this Batman is damaged, I don't know what film you're watching. So much of this shit is spelled out in the writing and performance, like c'mon. I agree with Greg so much in this. These aren't the DC movies I would make but it is so silly how much people talk about this film without picking up on some of the more basic story elements. Tons of weird things in the film for sure, there are so many weird little details that feel out of place but most of that stuff is just nitpicking. Though honestly, the fact that Batman never identified Superman is like the MOST GLARING PLOT HOLE IN HISTORY.
For the argument of "Batman kills in this! He's irredeemable!" Why is it that we don't say the same thing about the Avengers characters? Even Chris Evans' Captain America kills in those movies and no one is up in arms about the morality of those characters. I feel like it's a nit-pick that people like to pile on to this movie because the narrative surrounding it is that we're supposed to hate it.
Because when the Avengers kill it's part of the collateral damage, they can't save everyone. Batman consciously outright kills people cause he's tired of locking people away for them to be released later
None of the characters in Avengers are defined by not killing, one of Batman's defining traits is that he does not kill. Thats why it's frustrating and people are annoyed by it
Clary Carrier Batman in his earlier comics carried a bat gun and shot criminals they only charged it because the comics code authority prohibited comics from being violent
It’s because batman himself has gone off the edge that he fears Superman. When he calls himself a criminal and asks “how many good guys are left” he’s referring to himself. He fears that Supes is like himself, someone who will inevitably break bad, just on a different scale.
So Greg had to launch a new KindaFunnyGames 4.0 to have a fund raiser to reach a stretch goal (Which was the first stretch goal) that would force the KF crew to watch BvS just to make Tim Gettys to say “Our New #1: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
The original movie review was how I was introduced to kinda funny. I don’t really remember what I said on that comment besides BvS was a bad movie. 4 years later and I like this movie more and more every time I watch it.
When you're so early here after the upload it's still only available in 360p... also two things; Can we get a Recap Juice (TM) KF drinking bottle in the store? And: #releasetheSnydercut!
All the online talk about the Snyder Cut made me want to watch this movie. I had skipped this one up until now because I wasn't a huge fan of Man of Steel and because of the overwhelmingly negative reception. I did watch Justice League, but I thought that was an absolute mess. To give this the best possible shot I watched the Ultimate Edition and I went in wanting to enjoy it. That said, I thought it was okay. It has stunningly beautiful cinematography, the action sequences are incredibly well thought out (at least until the third act) and choreographed and the acting performances are great. However, this whole story is all payoff and no setup. It could have been such an amazing conclusion to a longer running story, but the problem is the only characters who is actually established is Superman. There simply isn't enough time to introduce this version of Batman and Lex Luthor (and Wonder Woman, but she has a minor role so whatever). The result is that we get extremely rushed character development, character motivations that barely make sense and require A LOT of suspension of disbelief to be taken seriously and plot points that just straight up don't work or make sense. And this is the version that expands on those elements, so I can only imagine how incomprehensible the theatrical cut must be. Amy Adams, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are fantastic and kind of make you care about them despite how rushed and hard to follow the story is, but that doesn't cancel out the flaws in the script. The third act is just a mess though. I have no idea how or why Lex makes that Doomsday monster or why it had anything to do with the story they were telling here. And as soon as that thing shows up the movie forgets the awesome action style it had up until then and devolves into a mind-numbing CGI punching through buildings final battle that feels like it goes on for hours.
1.46.00: Knightmare - Bruce is having a prophetic vision of a possible future if Lois is killed, and Superman is taken over by Darkseid via the antilife equation. They did that storyline in the animated Superman series from the 90's. Flash being "too soon" is him on the cosmic treadmill going back in time to warn Bruce "it's Lois, Lois is the key!" But he's too soon. This Bruce has no idea what he's talking about, because he hasn't gotten past murder Supes rage level yet, so he hasn't learned more about him, and his relationship with Lois Lane. And remember, this was supposed to be the 2nd of a 5 movie arc for Superman, with 3 Justice Leagues, and solo films for the whole team, plus Green Lantern Corp, and Suicide Squad.
49:05 Nick, let me tell you about a guy named David S Goyer... If you have ever heard the phrase "failing upwards" this guy is it. He openly admits to not really knowing how to write character dialogue but enjoys building a frame work to a script. In other words, he is a "big picture" kind of guy.
Andy, Gordian Knot is the knot Alexander cut in half with a sword having used that action to claim he “solved” it. It’s referenced in watchmen a few times. Both the comic and the show.
They just add to parts of the movie that never went anywhere. The whole Bat branding went nowhere at all because Superman didn't hate Batman. He knew Lex was behind it all.
Superman killing Zod was character development ..It's what established his boundaries. If Alfred was estranged there would be even more complaints. And left UA-camrs bathing in their irrational unobservant critiques

They are killed in jail, because Luthor is paying people to murder them in jail. Batman brand someone = that person gets murdered in jail. Clark investigating as a reporter finds this and is mad that Batman is doing it. It's in the papers, so Bruce knows it's happening, and still Brand's people. So now Clark thinks Batman is knowingly sending these people to death, giving Superman reason to stop him. But it was just part of Lex's plan.
Almost a 4 hour episode. God I don’t know what we did to deserve this but thank you! In review is my favorite series and Man of Steel was the best so far. I can’t wait to listen to this beast of a podcast
Knightmare scene ( i believe because bruce was sleeping the energy of flash trying to find him gave bruce the ability to see his own future"knightmare" The same future flash was coming from. That energy got to Bruce first. After the vision flash woke him up to talk. And as flash left knocked bruce out a bit from the shockwave of time travel. Making it feel like it was all a nightmare
For reference, san jose is larger than san francisco in both size and population lol (just looking at city boundaries, not even metropolitan areas for which would make it even larger)
Never really got the hate for Batman V Superman when it came out. I enjoyed it when I saw it in theaters. Haven’t seen it since then but it was really fun.
I’m way late to this party but the branding doesn’t mean that criminals would kill them. Lex was using this tactic of Batman’s to isolate those criminals and orchestrate his thugs to kill them to put Batman in a bad light. All Batman was doing was using an ugly tactic to scare criminals, Inching his way closer to becoming more of a monster.
I love this movie, but I can't unsee how Greg described Joe Chill using the gun. Looking angry when pointing it at them, but a look of total surprise after shooting them like, "😧 I didn't know guns kill people." I couldn't stop laughing.
Not sure if anyone brought this up because I’m not about to read through 300 comments but I think the weird-ass Superman statue looks like it got quite a bit of inspiration from The Spirit of Detroit... which makes sense because they did plenty of filming in South East Michigan.
Loving the episode so far! For the next episode can y’all discuss the plot point differences between Znyder’s version of JL and Whedon’s version of JL? I’m sure Greg probably has all sorts of notes about what Znyder has said what’s included in his version, but I’d like to know y’alls opinions about those differences.

I’m sure Greg probably has all sorts of notes about what Znyder has said what’s included in his version, but I’d like to know y’alls opinions about those differences.
I'm starting to wonder now if I have ever agreed with any of Tim's opinions on anything
the man has shit takes about everything
I agree 99% but Tim did rank MoS above this garbage heap
Call me crazy, but I actually like Batman and Robin. It’s so bad that it’s good. I love campy shit lol.
This has almost made me want to watch this movie.
