    Rear caliper bolts (x2) - 35Nm
    Rear shock absorbers (frame mount) - 60Nm

    Amazing! Maybe one day, I will throw that kind of money in our TT 225 Cabriolet. But in Germany, all the parts you swapped are around 6.000€ at least so for that money I'd rather buy a car and resell it or refurbish the suspension on all our cars.
    What is very nice is the Bilstein B13 coilovers, which are better than KW coilovers. We had the KW V3 in our TT but after 5 years it was totally rusted and handling was not amazing. Currently we drive the FK coilovers which are surprisingly good and not much worse than the KW for a quarter of the price. At one point I will put the Bilstein B13 or B16 in there, but for now the FK is very nice.

    Double thumbs up! I am preparing right now for doing the same on my rear suspension. You bought the strongflex bushings, right? I think they're as good as the powerflex bushings for a much cheaper price. Well for ending, your work on this is perfect!

    • @wachu8605
      @wachu8605  Рік тому +1

      Thank you very much, i am glad to hear that! Regarding the bushings, i dont have much experience as this is my second set of them in my life, however i've had the powerflex bushes for rear wishbones and they seem to be identical to the ones from strongflex. I wouldnt be surprised if they used the exact same polyurethan blend. Not sure about running them long term tho, but in Poland they are very popular and people seem to be satisfied. Greets!

    Cool video and definitely some useful tips, this is the winter project I have just started on my 2003 TT 225, I have still not decided on the suspension setup but was consider H&R Ultra Low because well I really like LOW. Bilstein B14 are hard to beat though. Is it difficult to drop the fuel tank ? I had not planned to do this but now that I see your video I am thinking it might be worth doing especially to refurb the straps and clean out the tank of crap that might be lurking at the bottom. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and document your work and I look forward to seeing you do more work on your TT in the future!!

    • @wachu8605
      @wachu8605  Рік тому

      Hi there! Thank you very much for your input. I agree B14 is a nice setup, but it could go a lot lower in my opinion. H&R Ultra Low will be much better option, your car will look great on that :)
      If i were you i wouldn't bother about the fuel tank, because in my case it was quite clean inside. There was no visible contamination and even if there is any you can always clean it from the pump side. Straps are always great to refurb, mine were very rusty. They can be removed without any additional hustle which is a great thing.

  • @klomax7750

    Really informative video, very well done.
    Did you remove and refit all the parts just on your own? Just with the car on axle stands? If so, well done. Any tips for axle stands, placement etc?
    How did you clean and repaint the underside? It looks really good.
    The heatshield looks good to me, don't put yourself down about it not looking brand new.
    Thanks.

      Hi there! Thank you very much for your comment. It all started with the rust i've found underneath the rear wheel arches. As this is my first car ever i had no knowledge in body work at all, so i joined few facebook groups and asked them for advice. I've been thinking that i could simply use a driller with sanding disc to remove the rust and then just give it a repaint, but it turned out to be more complex than i thought. I've been told the only method to remove it almost completely is to sandblast it, otherwise it will most likely come back again after few months. I realised that it would be very expensive if i want to gave it to good mechanic shop, so i decided to buy an air compressor and sandblasting pistol. I was a little bit worried that it will not have enough pressure to do this kind of job, but after switching the air hoses to fi12 and tweaking the outlet pressure a little bit is was strong enough to remove all of the rust and paint from the metal surface almost instantly. I was really surprised how strong it was. Now i was only limited by the capacity of my compressor which was 50l, but with a little bit of patience i was able to clean all of the rear part in just one day. Once i was left with raw metal surface i immediately secured it with epoxy primer and then gave it a good layer of novol cobra truck bedliner, which is supposed to protect the surface from mechanical damage and moisture. I also wanted to make it look as OEM conservation, but the pigment i chose is a little bit too bright for my liking. Fortunately after some time it collected some dust and looks just fine :) If i knew what i know now i would choose something from SIKA brand rather than NOVOL, but it should still do the job pretty well, as i dont drive this car in a rain often.
      When it comes to axle stands, i just lifted it by a sills as you would do for a tyre change, and after that i could easily disassembly all of the things shown in video. Only if you want to remove the rust from the middle of car you would need to lift it by front control arms or the subframes itself. If you need more information about the stands please refer to this great video - ua-cam.com/video/NX1lQ5ZsZyQ/v-deo.html
      I hope I didn't bore you! :)

    • @wachu8605
      @wachu8605  Рік тому +2

      Hi there! Thank you very much. The thing we are talking about is powertrack insert, it forces haldex to operate at a little higher pressure increasing power split and allowing it to engage quicker. Definitely worth buying, especially when you compare its price to benefit it gives you. - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/yhw-powertrack-insert-for-haldex-first-generation-50-50.html

      Hejka, na stronie strongflex wybierasz swój model samochodu i masz do wyboru albo każdą gumę z osobna albo cały zestaw na przód lub tył. Ja właśnie kupiłem taki zestaw. Pojedynczo kupiłbym tylko jeśli wymieniałbym na razie same wahacze lub inne pierdoły. Pamiętaj tylko że jeśli będziesz miał w miarę sztywny gwint to lepiej wziąć czerwone poli zamiast lecieć od razu w żółte. U mnie jest gwint skręcony prawie na maksa plus żółte poli. Z auta zrobił się trochę beton, na co dzień ciężko by mi się nim jeździło. Całe szczęście na takie autko weekendowe wkurwianie się jest w sam raz :)

    • @wachu8605
      @wachu8605  Рік тому

      Hello! Yes i did. I sandblasted the underside and then gave it a good coat of epoxy and then novol cobra bedliner. But trust me, it was quite hard to do for person who has no experience in this kind of job. Fortunately this car is built like tank underneath, the metal parts they used are very thick so even if you have some surface rust just clean it off with abrasive disc and then use some protective spray and you should be fine for next 20 years :)
