    Good video Bryn, thx!! I did back and front and strut spreader tool a must. To all, the drop link goes in a certain way. One thread is longer than the other if you look carefully. I didn’t. The longer thread goes up top on strut! Shorter thread on stabilizer bar.
    Key info that coulda saved me a few days and having to get another drop link as the thread strips if you put the shorter end up top and try tightening it thru.

    Brilliant videos and content. Delivery is really clear. Just a bit disappointed that on many I've watched, you don't use grease on reassembly, which is something that can make such a difference, not only to ease assembly, but to protect for the future disassembly. Definitely on bolts that are on suspension/hub areas. This doesn't distract from the usefulness of the videos, and it's a great channel, but I'd just like to see more best practice on this one point.

    • @BWSTT
      @BWSTT  2 роки тому +4

      Copper grease gets way over used- and then bolts get incorrectly torqued as all settings are given dry, not lubed. Clean threads are the most important thing to ensure ease of future work

    Sweet video and excellent timing as I'm about to do something similar. When lowering a TT do you find that you need adjustable rear tie arms or bushes? I'm apparently at the limit of adjustment already and don't want to chew through rear tyres. I'll be dropping it 25mm. It is a 2006 however the Australian delivered cars didn't get the later sports suspension. Appreciate the advice. Cheers.

    • @BWSTT
      @BWSTT  3 роки тому +1

      I find that after 40mm on pre-facelift height is the limit for standard tie arms, so you should be ok at 25mm lowering

Sports chassis? What option code for this chassis? Information, my rear stabilizer bar links are 175 mm. Thanks for your help.

    Just a FYI for others; the strut not goin up by it self is NOT an issue, and will NOT effect your ride quality. Is the gas that has escaped the strut over the years, but as long as there is NO oil leaking, the strut is 100% fine to reuse with lowering springs. This is well written in the OEM repair manual.

    Hi Bryn I’ve had a nightmare - two days wasted so far trying to do even just one side front strut and spring. My issue is I just can’t get the new strut fully in the hub! It’s like half a CM from being fully in and for two days now I just can’t get the damn strut in the hub!! When I use a Jack underneath the control arm it just pushes the spring up - doesn’t force the strut any further into the hub. And yes I’m using the strut spreader tool - I’m just at a dead end now. Any advise??

    • @audiallroad42
      @audiallroad42 Рік тому

      Maybe try the spreader tool in a different spot, like the top, and gentle tapping with 4lb hammer to coax it to drop in. Or lube/grease in hole first, then drop it in. Also make sure your angle is right. Me wasn’t, and when I moved it a bit, it dropped in.
