That was an awesome show, I wasn't anywhere prepared budget wise for what I saw. There was some jaw dropping tables! They need to do this again, real soon. I pick up a Aaron autographed card for .25, among many other cards. I wish I had brought more cash, I would have brought home some DiMaggio's and Clemente's.
Definitely an impressive show. I believe I was the second person that got to the 59 box after the dealer put it out. It got pretty congested pretty fast...and it was in that little corner at the edge of the table with virtually zero room. Like you said, and incredible show with TONS of amazing stuff.
Great buys......You hit it big ...You were going so fast through the 59's but I noticed you missed the Norm Cash rookie...Definitely worth 3 dollars...
The box was put out just a few minutes before I got there. Once I got there, a bunch of people came over shortly after. I was trying to go through them quickly so I could get through them and catch any of the biggest ones I could. The cards in this show are just mind boggling! You made 2 solid pickups at that show . Imo, the 61 Yaz is his best card. The Rose is also nice, graded a 6 as it is top to bottom off centered imo, but still a nice card. Congrats.
@@MidLifeCards I agree, fair but not terrible. The mystery and thought in his day to day life always made me wonder what it was like to accomplish 3000th hit on last at bat. I totally agree that it was a fair counter. Given the cards, the volatility of the Rose recently, the number of 2nd year Yaz cards that were at the show, I felt like I needed to be at $190. But, you're absolutely right. It was fair.
Great pickups, and obviously a great show for some real nice vintage cards. I always enjoy your videos but your show videos are the best on UA-cam. Your panning speed is just right and it's always great to be able to actually see what the asking price on some of those cards is. Thanks so much for another great one!
@@MidLifeCards What I love about your videos is that what you like, I like. You have a good eye for vintage and you are a smart buyer. And Craig always has amazing cards and great prices. There are no shows or sellers in this area like the ones you feature in your videos.
Probably should have grabbed that Roger Craig, since he just passed. Love that 61 Yaz. I'm a Yaz collector and trying to get a run of all his Topps from his playing days. (Noticed there was a 64 and 65 at that show.) Only have his rookie and his 68 base from the 60s but have most of his cards from the 70s (only need 70, 71 and 75) and all his from the 80s. Had I been there and seen that value box, I would have been pulling out Red Sox cards.
Great to finally meet you. I think you produce the best card videos on you tube because its all about the cards. Your the best at holding the camera over the cards so we can really get a good look at them along with knowledgeable narration. I'm always looking for blue sharpie vintage bought a 1961 Bob Gibson auto. Watching your video reminds me I should have bought the Sayers auto.
It was great meeting you too. You had some great stuff you showed me. The Mays autographs on vintage cards were especially awesome. If you see me again in the future, be sure to stop me and say hey. Sometimes at shows I get in the zone, and don't notice people. I know there were at least 2 or 3 friends that were at the show that I didn't notice being there because I was on a mission all day. :-) Thanks again for stopping me and saying hello!!
Wow, great value box spot by you! Captain Hindsight says you maybe should have offered $2 each and bought everything the dealer had left, but how could you really know in the moment. Good luck with the grades if you're going that way and thanks for sharing your card show trip.
I totally agree. When I was going back through the footage, I saw about 20 more (high numbers in good condition, Dodgers team card, a couple of other minor stars) that I should have grabbed. I didn't have the cash to make a serious offer on the full box.
Graig. Thanks for the grand tour of this great show. Happy you could pickup some nice vintage 59's. It was fun watching you in action on the Yaz/ Rose pickups. I have the Yaz in raw form hoping to get mine graded, probably SGC. I bought the Rose in a PSA 4 for $73 shipping and tax included. You did real well at the show.
Another great video!! Nice vintage lot!! Will be in San Jose July 15-16, do you know of any show in the area that weekend? I have looked at some show calendars and there aren’t any listed for the Bay Area

Appreciate it. I was super excited with the show. I could've spent a lot more time there. Good interacting with you on Theo's livestream last night. :-)
I like guessing your offer after you tally the sticker price. I nailed the raw pile for $100, but I went lower on the Rose/Yaz offer ($175). You still got great deals. This is such a fun way to visit a card show 3k miles away. thanks Graig!
Appreciate that my friend. It's funny, because I've had some people tell me that I low balled him with my $190 offer. To me, the negotiation is part of the fun, and if I don't get a good deal, it's all good...I'll just buy something else that is a better deal. Good interacting with you in Theo's livestream last night. You had some great comments in the chat. :-)
@@MidLifeCards I had a blast listening to that livestream! Was psyched to see you in there too! Honestly, my thought was you would start at $175 and move up to where you ended. I admired you sticking to your guns at $190, though. I think you and the dealer both did well, and that’s definitely best for maintaining that relationship.
That entire vintage stack of $3 cards looked great. Surprised that you didn't make him an offer for the whole thing, but you did get most of the best names in there.
If I had the cash, I would've made a play on all of them. But, when I was watching the footage back, there were at least 20 I wish I had grabbed. I got there just after he put the box out, and a feeding frenzy started...so I was trying to race through them as fast as I could. But, you're totally right.
I wonder why Craig doesn't slab his raw vintage stuff? It looks like there was some red bleeding on the edges of that Rose? Maybe that's why it was a 6
I was talking to my Dad and friend about that exact question (about Craig grading raw stuff) on the way home from the show. I know he does one submission per month, and usually does about 30 cards. He tends to cherry pick what he feels are the best ones. The red spot you saw on the card was the cut line, I think. One a lot of vintage cards, there were small dots/lines for where the card should be cut. Because it is slightly high/low off center, you could just see that line.
I looked up the graded values...not sure what I'm going to do yet. I'll keep a few and sell some raw. There are a few that I may grade. They're nice cards though.
Wow! What a show! Great stuff! I could’ve spend a couple full days there and gone into debt 😂 Those T206s in the beginning were gorgeous. I’m shocked you didn’t pick up that 54’ Eddie Mathews raw. There is no way that wouldn’t have graded a 5. That 72’ Clemente was too nicely centered. I couldn’t have walked away from that one. Nice find on the 50s cards. Rule #1. If a guy dives into your value box for 40 cards, pause and reassess cause you are missing something.
I could’ve spent a LOT of money yesterday. Took a lot of restraint. Agree on the 72 Clemente. It was really nice. Regarding the value box…that guy was doing his first show. Had half a table with his friend. Right after I left, a dealer came over and bought EVERY slabbed card he had in a bill deal. I should’ve bought all the nice high numbers in the value box…there were some gorgeous ones.
Wow, what a show. Been to the National 15 times and do not remember seeing so many great dealers and I was disappointed when I went to the Chantilly show here in Northern Virginia couple of months ago compared what you showed at this local show. Will try it again later this month. Love when you go to a show. Going to watch again there is so much to see and take in. Love 59s first set I ever put together. Those looked pretty sweet. . I could not believe all the Kobe and Jordan autograph cards. That 3 piece card with Robinson, Clemente and Dimaggio looked nice but why pay sixty thousand dollars when you can get individual index cards government post cards checks etc separate items expensive but so much less for their authenticated autographs. Autograph cards which I have tons great but cuts on created cards do not make sense to me. . Anyway, when is our next show, I cannot wait.
Appreciate that. I totally agree...I haven't been to a show like that in a VERY long time. The amount of high end stuff was amazing. Not sure when that promotor will have the next show, but the next show I'm attending is in 2 1/2 weeks. :-)
Very nice 59 pick ups, I love the Vintage at Craig's table, Would love to have the 63 Rose rookie, 57 Topps Mantle, Kareem rookie, I can go on and on, Very good show, Another great video
I didn't. I was on the fence about it...and was going to go back and make an offer. The last comp on ebay was $350...but no, I didn't go back and make an offer...but may end up regretting it.
You must have been using my comps for the ‘59s you bought Graig. I consigned over 180 ‘59s to GMC in early May & sold all of them. 😁 Btw, I have the 1954 Topps Gordie Howe & the rest of the 60-card set graded.
Its funny how some dealers throw incredible unrealistic high prices on items at those shows just to see if it sticks. Did that one guy actually think he would get $60,000 for those three autographs?
I think some dealers have a few items they like to have in their cases as a way to draw people to their cases....with little intention of actually selling them.
Fantastic pickups, some of those cards at $2.50 look to be really sharp and would grade well...those are a steal! Love the second-year Yaz it is a beauty and the 68 Rose is also a good deal. Pete will eventually get into the HOF and when he does that card will prove to be a good deal..
If I had the cash, I would've considered it. All in all...I think he probably had close to 700-800 cards...so it would've been tough. But...looking back, I wish I had grabbed about 25 more.
We could make 80s 90s cards rare if we had a year of huge bonfires. Have authenticators present to take card counts & verify authenticity. Make cards rare again.
Do you ever worry or feel any concern that a card or cards you bought are counterfeit? I don't know...might just being paranoid atm...I just came back, from a card show with my dad, bought a Clemente in a slab, so the holder itself is real, but that doesn't always mean the card is...sometimes fakes slip through cracks...there are still sadly some scammers in the hobby...
I've purchased a fake card before. I don't worry too much when it's in a PSA or SGC slab, because I think one of the things they do best is screen for counterfeits. Their reputation is on the line with that. I know that the vintage lot I bought was real, because the guy who sold them wasn't a dealer, just a guy that inherited cards. He had all the "Big" names in SGC slabs, and none came back altered or anything. So, I knew that pile was legit.
What is wrong with you ? These types of opportunities are once in a lifetime. Didn't your dad advise you? I am much younger than you and I would have bought ALL of the 3 dollar cards. NO WAY you would have lost. Oh well. Brain Fart, it happens to all of us.
18:06 I saw you putting that one back in the pile, I was yelling "Pick it back up!" LOL
LOL. That's pretty funny.
13:20 that Jim Gilliam right before Fox. I need that in a major way. Hopefully this guy is at the National

Wow. That shit never happens to me. I assume you’ll get most of it graded and then flip for 10X’s at least? Well done
I looked up the graded values...not sure what I'm going to do yet. I'll keep a few and sell some raw. There are a few that I may grade. They're nice cards though.
Hi Graig!
It was so good to see the 1957 Topps Baseball being gone through. One of my favourite sets!
Thanks for the great video!
Peter
I was really close to buying a 57 Frank Robinson yesterday. I totally agree about it being an awesome set.
Wow! What a show! Great stuff! I could’ve spend a couple full days there and gone into debt 😂
Those T206s in the beginning were gorgeous.
Appreciate that. If I remember correctly, Craig got that Rose RC back from PSA the night before the show. I was literally just back from PSA.
I feel like Pete Rose is a good place to park some money right now.
I like Pete as a player and loved that 68 card because of how young he looks. It'll be interesting to see what his cards do moving forward.
Those Tupac letters would work wonders if they forgot to stock the paper in the bathrooms....
Weird
LOL.
Should have told dealer you'll buy it all and yell at father to go to ATM
I thought about it, trust me. :-)
Did you end up getting the Russell auto?
That Gordie Howe card is one of about 5 Hockey cards I hope to have at some point. There's something iconic about that card that is so awesome.
Appreciate that. The show was so much fun and I felt like I did really well. Wish I could've gone back today, unfortunately couldn't.
Those were some amazing pick ups at $2.50 ..
did you think about buying the lot?
If I had the cash, I would've considered it. All in all...I think he probably had close to 700-800 cards...so it would've been tough. But...looking back, I wish I had grabbed about 25 more.
We could make 80s 90s cards rare if we had a year of huge bonfires. Have authenticators present to take card counts & verify authenticity.
Make cards rare again.
LOL.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
