- DELL LAPTOP RAM UPGRADE G15 Series getting ramped up from 16gb to 32gb of ram being installed today. It Quite simple to do and the process carries over from brand to brand. what differs is access to the ram. Follow along and see what steps i took to accomplish this upgrade.

Thanks bro i ordered an 8GB Ram stick so i can have a total of 16. It helps the fps a lot and having chrome running as well

Thanks for explaining that those 4 screws don’t come all the way out I was about to go crazy! It felt kind of hard to pull the cover off, was figuring I had to get those screws out until I watched your video

Thank you for the video. You replaced both. What if I want to keep the 8 G and add 16 G? Where should I add the 16G? I don't see any free slot to add it.
You should have a slot directly infront of the 8gb bank. If dor some reason you have one bank, you might just be better off with the 16gb. But if you look closely again you might have over looked the ram slot. Lmk if you need more help

Hey, i was planning on ordering another 8gb stick to add into mine g15, did you notice a change in cpu usage after upgrading at all? Right now i seem to only have a problem with fortnite using lots of memory and 90-100% cpu
i cant say my cpu usage has gone up as i dont game, i do more video editing with mine. have you updated the nvida graphic card software? i looked up that we can not upgrade the card itself which sucks but check on the software update and then check your resopurces to see if anything is tapping in increasing the cpu usage. hope that helps.
Hey, Nashson. did your system give you a black screen after 10-15 minutes after the upgrade? because I have the exact same laptop and I tried installing a new ram and the problem was, after 10-15 minutes and a couple of restarts, the screen went black. How do you fix this?
Oh no, i cant say i had that issue. Did you upgrade to 32gb or attempted to go 64gb? I did 32gb and it started up as normal. I would check you error log maybe you can see what error took place at the time you seen the black screen. Lmk
I have the same problem, it starts but the screem goes black , I waited for more than 19min and it turns off but nothing happen
Btw the Corsair vengeance doesn’t work with this laptop
I wanna buy the G15 with 8 GB ram but, i dont know were to find DDR4 2933MHz memories.
it is necesary to use exactly that model or i can use 3200MHz too?.
3200MHz RAM can downclock to 2933MHz or 2666MHz if system specification only supports 2933MHz or 2666MHz.
Whats most important is that its CL22 1.2V sodimm ram.
So if I have 16gb of ram already does that mean I can’t add a 8 Gb because it already has two 8 Gb?
You can add a stick of 16gb and an 8 and then upgrade the 8 to 16 when you can.. 👌🏾

I have a G15 5520 and i wanted to upgrade the RAM DDR5 to 5600Mhz from a 4800Mhz i checked on the dell website it says maximum is 4800Mhz. The question is will this work and if so will it be running at a speed of 5600Mhz?
all my research says 32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, DDR5, 4800 MHz. ngl at your own risk, if you have 5600mhz try it and let us know what you find out. but id stick to the factory reccomendations unless your an i.t expert that knopw how to compensate different settings to achieve your goal. good luck tho.

Yes but they should be of the same generation, both should be ddr3 or ddr4.

Upgrade to 2 16gb or two 8 gb. Youll def benefit from the added ram. It going to be like night and day. ✌🏾

Bro if i upgrade my ram from 8gb to 16 gb, new ram stick must be of same brand or will it work either way? Or i need to replace both of same brand
brand dosent matter. its just normally easier when picking up new sticks. I've used mismatched ram sticks in older laptops and runs smooth with no glitches.

I have the g15 5511. I guess you have a newer updated model than I have.

Yooo thats not supposed to work like that. Disconnect your battery and re install the original ram sticks and see if your screen comes on. Those ram sticks may not be compatible. Lmk. Sorry that happened to you.
@@NahshonWebb Yeap I did that and the screen worked again, but the new ram has to be compatible because it´s the exact same brand, velocity etc. the only thing that changes is the storage. I don´t know what can I do :/

Its going to speed up ya machine dramatically. But the performance you seek may need a gpu upgrade. Also what kind of cpu you have in your machine? Ram will help you out specially from 8gb to 32gb even 16 gb is an upgrade for you.

@@sad2907 you should be good with a 32gb ram upgrade. If you really want to step it up you can opt for two 32gb stick for 64gb of performance. Lmk what route you take. ✌🏾🍻

If you go to the crucial website you can scan your computer and it will show you ram that is compatible with your laptop. Hope this helps!
