      Hi, I did a lapghan as a sample and I think I know where you are going wrong. As you make a square you put 7 loops on the hook for the first row that will leave you with 3 chains left. The second row has 6 then yarn over in the next chain leaving you with 2 chains and you go from there. If you have done entrelac before then you know row 4 and 5 you use the same connecting chain. Hope this helps

    I’ve actually used a trick so I don’t have to cut every time I start a new round with my solid or slow changing yarns.

    • @theresashoemaker8721
      @theresashoemaker8721 3 роки тому

      Can you share that trick? I’m trying the rectangle with a solid color too.

    • @tessaconmy3290
      @tessaconmy3290 3 роки тому

      There is a trick to doing it. Now in the video when he finishes his base squares instead of cutting the yarn and attaching a ‘new’ one your instead going to chain six then gather six loops total on your hook then gather a seventh one from the left side of your work. This will be the only time you will have to chain to create this shortcut. Now to finish and start a new round I find it’s easier to make the last square of the round by building it from the bottom up instead of building into the side. Once you finish that you’ll notice that you’ve ended with a single loop right in the corner of the L needed to start the next round. After that all you have to do is simply make your last square of the row a straight standing square.

    • @theresashoemaker8721
      @theresashoemaker8721 3 роки тому

      Ok so when I am ending my work, it’s not on the corner closest to the ‘L’ it’s one corner back. Is that the same corner you make the chain?

    • @theresashoemaker8721
      @theresashoemaker8721 3 роки тому

    Is there a tutorial to make something like this only more like squares on a checkers or scrabble board? I just did not that she chained 5 and not 6 (it was too tight and did not look good). Mikey also mentioned in this video or another to never slip stitch up the side to get to a corner, it just do not look good.

    I've been crocheting for 45 years. It seems that once you get to the last row you are missing a chain. Moving the TSS row as described...seems like there should be one more chain ie. chain 21...or am I doing something wrong?

    • @barbaras9764
      @barbaras9764 6 років тому

      I think the same thing. I chained 40 (throw). I did my 4th row on my 4th box and used my last chain (ugh). I undid it box-by-box and was missing one chain (9, 19, 29). We skipped that chain which other videos did not skip. Since it was hard for me to go into the 1st chain, I just chained 40 (1 more).

    • @theresashoemaker8721
      @theresashoemaker8721 3 роки тому +1

      Did you ever get your question answered? If not the answer is both, depending on which square you are working; if you’re building a new one without attaching it the “the L”, you pull through one loop. If you are doing a square that is attaching to another, you pull though two loops for the first one. Hope that helps!

      @@angelagarverick3386 if you are always creating an extra stitch. It could be where the first stitch of the round is going. Try playing with a different spots and see if that helps. Just be consistent.

    well i must be really thick because when the video changed from 2 squares to a totally different shape I had no idea what to do and got totally frustrated, it's hard enough doing it left handed but I'm so not going to be doing a tunisian blanket anytime soon. Can anyone direct me to a step by step tutorial for rectangle afgan/tunisian?? I can usually follow your tutorials, not this time :(

    Mikey, most of the time I think you are great teacher, but in a few videos, like this, I find myself completely lost. The building of blocks around a circle has no correlation I can see to the row you previously had us finish. In my row all the Ls have seven stitches across the top. We are not all experienced and it would be great if you slowed down to show us where to start, close ups too would be helpful. you don't always use correct terms and refer to stitches we need to work into in a vague way and I am having very much trouble understanding, I can go no further, so I must search out a new demonstration and I usually use the crochet crowd as my go to.

    I want to make a sweater. So I need to know how to make an entrelac rectangle approximately 19 inches wide and long and adding the ribbing at the botton. So the sleeve would have to be approximately 16" long and 19" long.
    How do I figure that out? Is there a formula?

    Has anyone done this with Mandala yarn? If so, do I need to cut the yarn when I've done the first two blocks and restart again as in the second video that Mickey attached. I'm so confused. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you

    How can a king only have 2 boxes across with 40 chain when a lapghan has 4 boxes with 40 chain and twin has 13 boxes with 130 chain. This doesn't make sense. A lapghan is smaller then a twin and king is bigger then these two blanket. Can you explain please.
