HOW to CROCHET ENTRELAC - Tunisian Interlaced Patchwork Diamonds Entrelec by Naztazia

- You can learn how to Crochet Entrelac Tunisian Diamond Stitch in this DIY tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe form Naztazia. This is the entrelac or Tunisian entrelac crochet stitch pattern my Stitchorama by Naztazia collection. It forms a patchwork of diamonds that are all connected together as you go. You just use a regular crochet hook - you won't need any special Tunisian or afghan hook. A few colors of worsted medium weight yarn and a size H 5 mm crochet hook work great!
Also to clear up any confusion. The video states to think in "groups of 5" at 0:45. However sometimes the video states to take off loops in "groups of 2." These instructions are mentioned for those who are brand new to Tunisian crochet, since 2 loops are taken off 5 times for each row. Sometimes the video states to take off loops in "groups of 5." These instructions are for those who already know to take off 2 loops at a time, and it is easier to think in "groups of 5" return passes for each diamond row.

Donna, can you do a tutorial on closing the edges? I love making entrelac baby blankets and there's one tutorial that I've used for previous entrelac projects, but the instructions are messy and I usually just end up guessing at what I'm doing. Would really appreciate your clear, simple directions on how to properly close those edges. Thanks!!

It's a bit tricky with the first two rows, mostly in the beginning and ending parts of row two. As always you make these complicated-looking patterns super easy to make. 💖
I got the beginning of row 2 easy, it's the last square that's hard. After you draw up a loop from the last stitch in row one (first color) where are you pulling loops from so the last square of second color is squared and not scrunched? It seems you have to add a stitch unless I'm missing it.
This is brilliant. I want to rummage out some yarn and a hook to give this a go now, but it's early morning here and I'd better wait until everyone is awake first🤣

I used to try to make blankets yrs ago in my teens/20’s but but could only get to like the 10th row and give up lol.
Just started back up in my 40’s couple months ago. I have 2 blankets started. Bout to start a 3rd and start a scarf. And ideas for more blankets!

I have ALWAYS wanted to learn this, but intimidated. AS SOON AS you said everything is in groups of 5, it clicked ( at least until I get to Row 2!!! and I can now understand the concept. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
I've crocheted since I was about 8 or 9, my mom taught me. I've done the Tunisian stitch a few times, including making it in a circle after watching a video. I used size 6 yarn & a bigger hook to make a rug to go in front of the toilet. I just love it & I love this as well. Will definitely be trying it if not today, then soon 🥰🥰

Don't know the name - it was in the $1 bin with no label on it at the local craft store.
I've been crocheting since I was 5-6 years old, was taught basics my Polish Auntie Stacia, who also took care of me when I was that age when my Mum was working in the textile mills of Passaic, NJ, circa 1968. EVERY female on my Dad's side of the family crocheted (and even one Uncle!), mostly doilies, so I learned THAT first, crazy as it sounds at such a young age. As my cousin would say..."we are Polish!! It's the golden rule that you know how to crochet, ha ha!" ANYHOO, I've gotten pretty darn good at this lovely fiber art but NEVER attempted entrelec crochet! My first afghan was Tunisian crochet I completed when I was 8! In bright pink, purple and white strips--VERY GIRLY! It was warm and I was so proud. My Mum helped me crochet strips together. I was so proud. So I already know basic concept, just not the entrelac part.
Now I'm 56 and I still have things to learn! Your tutorial is fantastic and I love the way your blocks look. I've researched about six channels and you're the best!!! So thank you...just by watching your video, I get it and can't wait to try. Wish me luck!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌈🙏🤞
That's very simple to follow. I'm not a beginner but I'm not that good at all. This is one of the more simple crochet tutorials I've seen. I can definitely do this. Very clear and easy to folow.

Depending upon what size hook you use, this usually turns out a little stiff for scarves. It doesn't drape well.

Hi, I have the same question as you, Sharon. I want to create a vest, so I need to have the edges end as straight lines. I need to find a way to change the empty spaces into straight, filled triangles. Any thoughts?

Renee Garnett iv never done Tunisian b4 and was thinking I'll give it a go into a blanket I guess it would look the same as her sample but bigger she does say at the start u can add extra x
Most people leave the edges like that on a blanket. Larger surfaces look good with it. Others however will taper the edges into a triangle by decreasing on the one side to create flat sides. Personally I like the edges with the zig zag.
I had the same thought but with using it for a hat :))
cant live it like that for a hat so I have to figure out a way to smooth them out LOL

I adore this stitch! It is very beautiful and works exceptionally well with the choice of yarn in this tutorial. I enjoy how it appears to be a basic Tunisian Crochet stitch, in mini sections. Tunisian Crochet is one of my most recent newfound loves! :) This stitch looks complex but is very simple to learn.
