I'm glad to see other males besides my self that like doing this . I always get told I'm get to much into my feminine side when they see me doing this . I love crocheting because it always reminds me of my sweet departed grandmother when I'm doing it . It was her favorite pastime activity . When I was a child ! Boy do I miss her so much ! I will always thank her for teaching me to crochet . I will always have that bond with because of crocheting .
+Chris Meadows It makes me extremely happy to learn of men who know how to crochet or knit (or do embroidery/cross stitch /any other needlework). My boyfriend (he also will hold my yarn for me) and a few of my other guy friends know how to crochet, and I can talk patterns with them! Love it!
Chris Meadows do you happen to remember he was a male football player back in the seventies he crochet, I can't remember if his mother taught him but nobody made fun of him and he didn't beautiful work so you keep on crocheting and you do beautiful work. 🐈 Jean
Chris, it is fabulous that you love crochet so much. I don't think it matters if you're creating something wonderful if you're male of female. You honor your grandmother and that's wonderful! (it's the same for me)
I stumbled on your sight. May be old but boy is it good. I have struggled as I an left handed but your instruction and hints have made it come together so well. Thank you for this video
Don't worry, just do what love; crocheting is one the hobbies my husband does too. He makes a beautiful sweaters for his daughters since they were in the elementary school. Now they are in the university and they still love the sweaters my husband does for them.I am so proud of having a husband that loves crocheting and knitting.
I only started practicing Entrelac Crochet... did it for the 1st time last night and was happy with the results but found your tutorial today. I am THRILLED with your method of creating this pattern. SO much easier to do... !!! Thank you for the time you have spent explaining it all and showing how much easier this method is to learn. You made me VERY HAPPY! THANK YOU AGAIN! HOLY COW... FILLING IN THE GAPS...WITH THE V SHAPED FAN TO FINISH IT OFF...BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have watched many video's on this particular stitch, and not only do you speak clearly, and English, but your step by step instructions make the stitch easier than it really is. You rock, and keep it up.
I love watching videos with Mikey he makes it so easy to understand and you can actually see what he's doing. He's great especially for a beginner ( 8 months) like me
This looks like an absolute dream to work. I always thought it would be very difficult but your explanation is perfect, thank you. I think I'd have to do the bigger squares to move it on faster with less colour changes but I'm definitely going to give it a go! Thank you for another brilliant tutorial ❤
I’m a beginner Tunisian crocheter, thanks for the great tutorial. I’m on round 4 of my blanket now and going strong with no issues. I’ll definitely be checking out your other videos.
Thank you Mikey ! I was like you . I started this a few years ago and was so intimidated that I put it away. The teacher was not clear. I came to you today for a tutorial and it WORKED !!!!!!! I am so pleased with it . You made it so easy. Thanks again. You made more than my day. !! :) :) :) xo YOU ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been with you since your first crochet video! You have come a long ways my friend. Since I have turned 70 yrs old I could not crochet at all with out your lessons! I really appreciate you!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Four weeks ago I started doing crochet for the first in my 69 year of live! I started with a small entrelac blanket for my cat but I didn't know how to do the triangles on the edges of the piece! So now I have seen your how-to-tutorial I'm so happy to learn to do the triangles! The blanket that I made were stiches pointing in one direction but now I want to make another one in how you did it in different direction! Thank you again and greetings from The Netherlands Europe!
I am glad I watched you video. I was able to CAL with you as if I’ve been doing this all my life. I was given a beautiful cake of yarn and was trying to figure what to make from it. This will look great!
Love your yarn! I can't get out so I use what I can find! I'm trying to come up with enough to make Christmas for a nursing home! It's better to give than receive! Happy crocheting to everyone!
I finally found a great teacher love you Mike y, you are the greatest !!!I I found your class easy ...I love to give class to and when I don't know how to explain every well because O have to translate, from English to Spanish. I look up a good video from Red heart ..May God bless every step you make to teach with that love
Excellent tutorial. Pretty much got all of it right away and I consider myself a beginner and I've never done Tunisian crochet before. Thank you! And I think it's great men are enjoying this. My dad who was a surgeon and also very handy with all wood tools etc. taught himself to use a sewing machine! He got a big kick out of learning something new and enjoyed being creative and using his hands. He ended up sewing my brother a down sleeping bag! It was quite a feat! Keep up the great work Mikey!
I made a blanket using this stitch in 1960 when my son graduated high school. Guess what.. he still has it and he says it won't wear out....Loved doing that stitch...
Thank you so much, for years I have put this Stitch off. I have used my nice and long needles and I have several strips material done. The thing is I never knew how to attach it without it looking too shabby. You made it seem so simple and now I can finish the rest of my projects that I've had for the last 15 years.
I am a male an do crochet and embroidery !! It is innteresting and let me release my depression and relaxing me ! When I crocheting i forget all my problems! 😊
Great tutorial a bit wordy for me but I do know a lot more than say someone that just stumbled across it. Thanks so much for sharing this as I learn soo much better seeing someone do it. I would also like to point out that the crochet crowd facebook community is filled with fabulous very nice people so thanks for giving crafty people a place to speak their minds and such.
Just like to share this with you. My third. I am left hand and I made it with Bennet Blanket yarn. I call it my tummy time blanket. It's good for when the baby is on the floor. I was going add a picture but couldn't.
as always you are a wonderful teacher, i have learned so much from you videos in the last year, since i discovered them, being self taught, i'm really appreciative of you thank you so much
Thankyou Mikey im a newby to crochet, been knitting for 40 odd years and finally decided to give crochet a go and this is the very first of your tutorials i have watched and am going to be very optimistic and try this one first, you have made it very easy to follow along so wish me luck hun . Jacqui
OMG!!!!! I cannot wait to start this project. I really am excited to get started.... thank you for doing this tutorial for what looked like a very difficult stitch, and the way you explain the process is perfect for those of us that want to learn. Thank you again!!!!
My grandmother and mother taught me to crochet back in the 70s and every time I pick up my hook I think back to those days. I also have the hooks they used and I guard them with my life. Male or female crochet is cheaper than therapy...
This pattern is great! Thank you for teaching us how to do it. I would like to know what the back is supposed to look like. Am I doing something wrong or is it supposed to look sort of fractured?
Hi Mikey, how are you? Believe it or not, this is the first time I’ve seen or heard about this stitch. It is Awesome! I just saw it on one of my Facebook groups. I was enticed. This is on my agenda. I’ll be back when I am ready to begin. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care.
I'm left handed and have tried this stitch many times and ended with headaches and unfinised projects. However I have not given up. The tutorials I've watched do not illustrate this stitch for a left handed person, therefore I found that after completing the first row we need to turn the work upside down in order to create the"L" and continue on for success. You also have to keep stitches loose because you"ll need to go into them again. This work can be difficult because you must remember to count your stitches and rows. Even when you become comfortable doing this stitch keep counting. It 's very easy to get ahead of yourself and then you'll make errors and throw your work off. If you try to "fake it or make it" it will again throw off your pattern and project. It's a beautiful stitch, and hard on the shoulder. I am determined to finish a throw using entrelac. I'm currently constructing a throw and it's almost fininshed. Not perfect, but closer than I've ever come. Addtionally I entrelac from the center out and tunusian one square at a time.
Nadine Briggs......CONGRATS!! U just don't see very many of us lefties anymore. With that being said, you are so right many, many of these patterns are so very hard for us to do. Not only are they challenging to begin with, but being left handed makes it even more difficult. (Like u) I too was determined to learn how to do this particular style of crocheting. So when I want to learn something, I usually will Google or UA-cam everything I can to try to figure the stitch out. I take lots and lots of notes during videos. I never try to crochet while a right handed person is teaching me something by crocheting it. The reason is, bc it will almost always turn out backwards...lol The most efficient way for me to learn crochet stitches is by reading the pattern, and usually once I begin I'm confident bc I've already seen the stitch/pattern being worked (by the UA-camr). I hope this helps you out. If you ever have any questions about anything I would be honored to help. If I don't know the answer, I don't mind looking for it. U have a blessed Labor Day, & plz plz feel free to contact me.
I realize everyone's comments where from 2-3 yrs ago it but they have helped me out tremendously and I hope they cont to help new crocheters make more magic, and cause less violence. Hagd every1 and Happy Crocheting!!
omg !!! i got it !!!! its amazing how you teach and your voice is very calming ; thank you soooo much i looove the way you teach your UNIQUE!!!!!!BRAVOOOO!!!!
Wow...thanks for the great learning video. This is absolutely going on my to do list! I recently seen a sweater done in this type of crochet. Can't wait now to get it started.
Lefty here again, I could not figure out how to get a flat edge after several attempts. You've done a wonderful illustration. I will try this method Thank you.

hi Alicia Downs I couldn't get the hook through the spine of the stitch either so i used a much smaller hook to pick up the stitch and then attached them to the right hook and then continued on working with the right sized hook
This is such a good tutorial, you make it look so easy. I can’t wait to try it. Your voice is so easy to listen to. Thank you for explaining this so well🙏🙏🇮🇪
Oh sweetie, I am having fun learning this pattern, but I have to honestly say that it really isn't worth the fight getting a J hook into the spine of the chain 6. I picked up the pattern fairly quickly and can bang out the block in no time flat, but that first row into the spine of the chain is awful to do, especially with a darker colored yarn. :-( Thank you for the clear instructions and taking the time to show each step.
Thank you for explaining this Entrelac Crochet! I have been wanting to learn this and you have helped me out so much! I now have a new project in mind :D
Thank you so so much for sharing your skill. I can't wait to try this one. It's completely new to me so it means a lot that your tutorial is so easy to follow. Again, Go Raibh Maith Agat.
The just going thru one loop… would you do that is you were just going straight across instead of working in a square? And would it stop it from curling?
I don't knowbif I missed something but you made mention of using yarn that automatically stripes or changes color but do you still have to cut and reconnect your yarn. I was hoping to keep going.

super , and very beautiful, you are wonderful teacher, so easy for show us thankyou very much
Excellent video! So easy to understand. Love it. Thank you for also explaining how to do it if I wanted bigger squares. :-)
If you don't mind could you tell me where you got the info on how to do bigger squaires?
He explains it in the video :)
Holly Blackwell o
Tim Baides no he doesn’t explain it ....he said that there’s another video he does with the bigger squares
He explains it around 31 mins
Thank You Mikey! My goal this year is/was to learn this stitch..well that was easy 🤪 🧶❤️
Lefty here again, I could not figure out how to get a flat edge after several attempts. You've done a wonderful illustration. I will try this method Thank you.
I made the blanket with bigger squares, it’s more or less the exact same pattern and method except:
Cast on any multiple of 5 plus 2.
(In the video, 5 + 2 = 7 stitches)
I cast on 20 + 2= 22 stitches.
Carry on as per the video, always having 22 stitches on your hook, completing 20 rows to complete first centre square (instead of 5 Rows in the video)
For the second square, cast on 21, the 22nd stitch is the one you use to attach the squares.
Continue until finished.
That's the formula I was looking for thanks!!
So if u have more stitches less time it well take u to make one of these I'm new to this design of crocheting
@@JustVoidWalking me too💕
Thank you. Did you use an Afghan hook for the 20 cast on? What size hook did you use?
You explained it so well. I'm excited to use this stitch for my next blanket.
What if I want larger squares? What are the magic numbers?
I finally figured it out. When you say see the L, I'm left-handed, so my L is backward. It's working out great this way.
hi Alicia Downs I couldn't get the hook through the spine of the stitch either so i used a much smaller hook to pick up the stitch and then attached them to the right hook and then continued on working with the right sized hook
So happy i came across this I was always scared to try this and you made to so easy to follow thank you
This is so nice & different. Can't wait to do this. Thank you for a nicely explained totural!!
Thank You for a great video. You make it easy to understand.

Thanks Mikey! You are an amazing teacher!
