I agree the brace was really uncomfortable and causing bruising to me as well.. thank you for your share. I did a nerve block too but I did use oxycodon for the first 3 days only.
Good information. I am a PT in acute care and most these are out patient procedure but I occasionally run across a patient that needs a one night stay and this was good. Thanks
Awesome post. Its helpful hearing all the details about the post-op pain, sleeping difficulty, etc. Knowing what the patient is going through helps me build a better patient-provider relationship. Keep us updated. Good luck!
Hello sir! Even i had a minor ACL TEAR on my left knee almost 9months back, i have been also following u on instagram from past months, it helped me a lot! After almost 6months of rehab i can move strongly! I play cricket and i am fast bowler and fast bowling always puts pressure on the knee. So is it good if i continue the sport with strong quads and hams with minor ACL TEAR?
I just had my ACL and Meniscus Repair surgery on Tuesday, did you remove your brace, bandage and ice pack yourself for cleaning before the 1st follow up?
Great.. your post is very helpful. I had a full thickness acl tear since last 7 years , recently my knee buckled on me and i tore my miniscus.(now i have a bucket handle tear in my medial miniscus also). My surgery is in 2 weeks from now. Two questions if you could answer 1. Does it matter how many years you waited for an acl surgery? 2. Does stiching your miniscus have any complications later? Thanks
Hello Dr. Wang, wish you the best of luck with your ACL rehab. Getting ready to take the NPTE in January, one of the practice questions I was reviewing today asked about the best weight bearing and mobility status within the first week of ACL reconstruction. In the breakdown of the question it mentions the immediate use of a post op knee immobilizer does not appear to be safer or more effective than using no knee brace at all following ACL reconstruction (2017 JOSPT Knee Ligament Clinical Practice Guideline). I was just curious to hear how often you deal with patients who don't use a knee immobilizer this early in ACL recovery? I feel like most physicians would want their pt's still in the knee brace 1 week in.
Would love to hear his response on this..I've seen surgeons not giving a brace post op v/s surgeons giving one..and just on the basis on clinical experience, I've seen the ones without a brace with worse knee range of motion particularly extension
I agree there is research that supports not bracing after surgery. However, at least in my area, every patient is still braced for a week. For me, I don’t see a ton of long term repercussions with one week usage so it’s not a big deal. I personally had a meniscus repair so I’ll be in a locked brace for ambulating for 4 weeks.
I agree that transition from sitting/laying down to standing comes with a crazy amount of pain lol. Keep pushing Wesley, it only gets better!
I just had acl surgery this series really helped me understand what I was up against

How to I stimulate my quads? I’m due surgery next week. I am new to all of this. Is there something I can buy? I am from London, UK.
Hi Wesley, what upper body one could do in the gym 3 months out of ACL surgery ?
What graft did you use?

How are you doing now?
@Kobiejohnson12 I'm doing real good just putting weight when kneeling or even hitting ur scar area hurts like crazy but mobility is there
What acl graft did you have?
