had my acl reconstruction 4 days ago. a little bit of pain but the painkillers are certainly doing the job. straightening the knee can be difficult but my physio exercises are helping slowly but surely. This rehab takes a lotttt of patience. Whoever is going through it too keep going!
How you doing now brother, had mine this morning. Can you walk yet?
Hope you doing much better now

Got my second ACL surgery done yesterday. Seeing the comments I realize how different everyone’s experiences are. I don’t have much pain as of now and I am doing some light stretching. Will see how the next few days go. A few things that definitely help-
Elevating, icing, and compression literally 24/7.
If you’re taking pain meds, take stool softener.
DRINK water and prune juice.
Yes definetly agree with all of this, glad recovery is going well for you!
2nd Acl on the same knee or different knee ?

Hello, thanks for sharing your journey! I had ACL surgery done about two weeks ago and once the anesthesia wore off the pain was soo intense. I was trying not to take the oxycodone pain medicine but at the end I felt like I had no choice and finished all the bottle the doctor prescribed. It certainly has been an emotional journey and makes you realize we need to be more grateful for the small things like going to the bathroom or even cleaning or washing dishes. I start therapy tomorrow and I pray is not as painful. God bless
The beginning is definetly hard. Good luck with therapy, be prepared to push your limits for a better future recovery.
seeing how many people saying the pain was too intense, it makes me feel that I'm the odd one lol. I just had my 4th ACL surgery (5th in October), and I never felt any pain, didn't even take tylenol
@@johnnywang8452to be fair, you did go through that process 4 times. You probably just gained a tolerance to that sort of pain
@@johnnywang8452wait. Your 5th ACL surgery? Im really interested in your story and how this kept happening
Haha! He looks so good! I'm about 72 hours since surgery and man... ACL surgery hurt more than giving birth without epidural and hurt more than an appendectomy. I don't know how this guy is just dandy. I was crying out of surgery being woken up. Today is the first day I've not cried.
Sorry to hear that I hope thngs get better.
I too just had my acl and meniscus done three days ago
The pain levels correspond to the graft method if u had patellar tendon it is the most painful
The same for me … this dude is amazing
Having mine tomorrow ready for it to everyone says it’s painful but you look fine😂
Yea it ereally wasnt too bad, other than Tylenol and Anti-Inflamatories I didn't take any drugs after surgery. How'd yours go?
First day is ok. But wait until the anesthesia really goes away.... its get F... painful. Had mine 3 days ago now.
@SHANNEL JIMENEZ you'll be fine .... just be sure to get those painkillers. First two nights are going to be unpleasant. Trust me. 3rd day you're getting better. Just get plenty of rest
Guys, can u share a little bit more about preparation procedures for the surgery? I am really curious because I am having my surgery in Thursday and I don't really know what to expect.
@@Daniel-ds1lo You will be nervous at the hospital but it will go by fast. Pain depends on the types of painkillers you’re given. If your tolerance to pain is high you will ride the wave with some discomfort. If your tolerance is low then it will kill you. Just be strong.
Im a 17 yr old volleyball player and i had my acl repaired 2 days ago, the pain was extremely bad right after waking up but it eventually started fading away, now i am home and way better, swelling has gotten down significantly but im on shit ton of meds. Walking is okay not painful(with crutches ofc) only a bit painful when i try to keep it straight. For everyone going through this, it is toughh but we got ittt!
Oh man thats rough, I also tore my left ACL playing volleyball last year... I have an updated set of videos...
Keeping your leg straight is very uncomfortable... but also very necessary for correct healing- best of luck, hope recovery is going well.

I am yet to undergo a patella tendon tear repair. Seeing the surgery videos I am getting scared . Mine is partial tear. The doctor said it may heal naturally but will not be strong enough to play sports without a surgery. I am confused.. Post the surgery, can I go to restroom using walker without applying weight on my injured leg?
@@hardtrailrider Well its more than okay to be worried but i can assure you that if you stay consistent with workouts and keep pushing u will get through. I think if you operate the acl it will be better rather than relying on that partial tear especially if u are a very active person. After my surgery i just used my crutches to go to the restroom and as it concerns how much weight u put on it u should speak with ur doctor/PE.
Other than that Im 4 months past now and im doing great, jogging, training, feeling good.
Good luckk
I’m getting my ACL and meniscus surgery soonish and I’m just glad I’m not in pain before the surgery. Watching these help quite a bit.
Good luck with the surgery and recovery.
I’ve torn my acl but decided against surgery even though it’s free for me in the uk. I’ve heard far too many horror stories.
Famvestor, I really want to express my utmost gratitude to you. Back in September I tore my ACL and I’ve been out of work since, as a bartender it was impossible to work, and I finally got my insurance to approve surgery this past Monday. I watched all of your videos in preparation for the surgery, and I can’t express to you how much you helped me. I bought the Ossur therapy machine and I truly believe that alone was a game changer. Moreover than any product, your determination wore off on me and 3 hours post-op I was immediately onto my exercises and have stayed consistent with that. Your ability to not only do all of that without pain meds, but to have the desire to help others and record the process is out of this world. I’m so thankful for you and your wife for these videos and I wish nothing but bountiful godly blessings for you & your family. I’m almost able to do everything on my own and my motivation is through the roof, thank you again!
Edit: (I watched these and your second experience which is why I was also thanking your wife)
Nate thanks so much for the comment and appreciation, I am so glad the videos helped, really appreciate you letting me know. Glad you are getting after it, it will make recovery much quicker. Thanks again and I wish you the best of luck in your recovery!
I just got my ACL surgery about a day ago and let me tell you this is perhaps the most painful thing I’ve had to deal with.

Getting mine done on Wednesday and so nervous man, first surgery ever 😭 Thank you for this video
how was yours? i get mine in a week
I got my full ACL tear and total meniscus repair done a few days ago. Idk how but did not feel much pain ,no wonder I'm on meds. I saw the whole operation live on a screen as anesthesia was spinal. The most you will feel the pain is when the stitches are taken off and the knee feels stiff when you try to walk. Just keep going and you'll be there.
Hey I js wanted to ask, can you run like before the surgery? since its been 6 months now?
First of all a big thank you for educating us. Your detailed series are so helpful. I am scheduled for an ACL reconstruction with meniscus repair on Oct 2 and your informative videos are definitely helping me prepare and stay calm. So extremely grateful to you.
Thanks for your comment. Glad it’s been helpful. Wish you the best of luck!

Hi hope you are doing well now ! I m done with my acl and meniscus repair on 2 Nov . Can you explain me your a little bit current recovery !
I just went through an ACL reconstruction surgery on 24/7/2023. The pain right after the effect of Anaesthesia was gone was very extreme. But after 24 hours the pain subsided and I could start making some movements...
I had my acl surgery 4 days ago and I’m still in much pain (especially in the hamstring)😢 pain meds are not helping that much. I’m so glad you didn’t have pain after surgery! The pain I had after surgery was so bad 😩 anyone else still with a lot of pain? And how long does it take to go away? Kisses from the Netherlands ❤
Im on day 10 rn out of acl surgery (and meniscus) and the pain is awful. I haven't slept more than 3 hours straight since the surgery, and some nights I've barely slept at all. Im non weight bearing bc of the meniscus and locked in extension and its awful. The mental part of it is crushing, not to mention the physical pain. The best change I've made so far with the pain was to switch from opioids to prescription ibuprofen--so much better then Tylenol. Good luck
@@pipergenkin1688 I’m so sorry to hear that! I’m on day 9 now and I already feel much better. To those getting surgery done, make sure you elevate your leg properly.. I woke up one morning with pillows under my knee only, not my whole leg(calf). I developed a blood clot in my calf... It hurts like hell, thought my calf was going to burst.
Set me back in recovery about a week or so. I suggest buying the purpose made leg pillow featured in this vid, if u move around in your sleep.
Happened to me too, on my foot, doctor said I had to raise my leg to drain the blood out
Same to me I got a blood clot from my acl tear and cuz I’m young and healthy I had to be on blood thinner for 6-8 before surgery holding me back a while

@@jomondcruz4245 Don't need to worry, it's very fast and more disgusting than painfull
@@4moises I guess thats to remove the clotted blood before surgery.
I had this surgery today will see tomorrow when the nerve block goes away and it's my first PT DAY
Good luck hope it’s been going well
Had a simple meniscus shave surgery back in freshman year in highschool im now a junior and just tore my ACL and meniscus have my surgery in 2 days😭
thank you for the video.
You're welcome
I’m about to do my first ever knee surgery I torn my MCL AND ACL wish me luck 😊
Good heavens...did you have to stay overnight at the hospital? My father's had three knee surgeries throughout his life. The last one he had was in 2017.
I repaired my meniscus with a new one shaving a meniscus can have side effect in the long run
Eres muy valiente mi hermano , yo estoy aqui despues de casi 18 horas operado que me quejo y lloro de no poderme ni mover y tu tranquilo
Thank you
I am having my acl surgery in 8hours time... Sooo nervous.. I don't mind the post surgery pain. It's just the build up to the surgery is extremely nerve wrecking!!
Ok it was the one hell of an experience for me... The pain was quite extreme for me and lasted 4 days.. Now there is still a lot of inflammation but the pain has reduced. The biggest challenge for me is falling asleep as I am not used to leavung my leg straight and still.. Can't wait for this nightmare to be over.
Yea I agrre that sleep is a really big challenge. It got a lot better for me after day 10.
I’m having mine on Wednesday but with meniscus repair also not looking forward to it at alll
Best of luck on your recovery
My first thought when I saw the video title Day 1 - What to expect.... Was "a shit load of pain!!!". 😂🤣 Day one was the very worst, not much better on day 2 but after that I got better each day. I'm now into week 3 and the movement in my knee I'm told is better than it should be at this stage. Onwards and upwards.
Hey great to hear good luck in your journey!
Can you make a video about all the equipment/gear you used post op and how it was helpful
Yea watch my 2nd and 3rd ACL video
I'm nervous to get the surgery but I can't wait to walk again and play with my kids
Right, 16 months later and I know it was well worth it!
I just got mine yesterday
How's the recover going?
when i woke up from my surgery i had immediate pain and even had a nerve block
Sorry to hear it.
Tuesday I got my surgery now I am fine
Just had acl surgery 2 days ago hardest part was finally taking a shit lol
Lol yea I do remember that being Difficult.
Lol bro I feel your pain
I was going to ask how you did this. I’m waiting on a MRI but me and my surgeon think I have a torn acl.
Eat licorice about 6-10 a day and the sugar is easier than meds.
I had my surgery this morning it was my left knee.
Best of luck on your recovery!
@@Famvestor thank you bro
Hey literally just had my acl surgery done today man and I also had a little tear in my miniscus
The road to recovery begins. Was the meniscus shaved or stitched?
Mine got yesterday, log way to go
Its rough in the beginning, but every day is better!
@@Famvestor thanks dear, it motivates me
Had mine 3 days ago. I just got home from the hospital Coz I had to spend these 3days at the hospital bed. It's really intense
I’m going to get my surgery now
Best of luck on your recovery
I'm on my day 4 after the acl and meniscus surgery. Day one is nothing, day 2 when the pain killer's are off is like hell.
Brother I just had my ACL reconstructed. Found some arthritis in my left knee as well. 😅
Day 1 I had to pee every hour on the hour. Getting to the bathroom was not easy so we got a urinal.😂
Getting mine tomorrow morning I’m freaking out lol
Good luck, watch my updated left knee 1st day too!
I had mpfl surgery almost 2 weeks ago and the first couple days after surgery the worse but now that I am more far along getting more range back and can stand up with out crutches but the acl surgery and recovery seems quicker then the mpfl!
I’m getting MPFL and TTO real soon. How’s it been for you?
Yeh I had ACL and mpfl done in one surgery. Ure right mpfl feels so weird and it’s as if nothing was done. But it does get better with time
ouch that would hurt a lot
Just got knee surgery for a torn ACL & meniscus in my right knee 3 days ago. The oxycodone is not working for me & I have had the most trouble getting comfortable to & from the bathroom. Someone please give me tips to feel better faster!
It’s rough in the beginning. Hope it’s getting better now
@@Famvestor it's better now. I took the brace off today, washed up by myself, & I can place my foot flat on the floor. I'm grateful.
The only thing I don't have is the leg knee brace had my acl surgery one week ago
Hmm usually they give you immobalizer brace.
Day 3 Post Op ACL and Meniscus Repair ... Guy I'm literally using you as a cheat sheet and I'm following every step! Lifesaver for this vlog ... Really appreciate u man 🫡💯
