Ohhhh I'm planning to knit a Vellichor as soon as I get my Explorer Knits national parks preorder yarn!
As a Canadian I actually pronounce it (toque) the first way you said it 😅 Great to be able to enjoy another vid, I really enjoy your podcasts
Yes, same! At least as a canadian english speaker I say Too-k
@@saragoose yes!! I didnt know how to write it out to how I say it lol. But yes same!!
Thank y'all!! This is so helpful. I will try to commit to memory.
@@emweecurt Also fellow Canadian and I find it hilarious that when I google the pronunciation is said the correct way ("took") which is different than American google 😂
We share your weather in Vancouver BC .Please come spring ! We are happy when we have a day that doesnt have a chill in the air.
Lovvveee that color tip tee. Is it advanced beginner friendly? Can wait
Hi Stacy! I would say yes - advanced beginner friendly! The trickiest bit is short rows.
Emily!!! You are so sweet for mentioning me in your video 🥰
Also even though I don’t know anything about spinning, I love hearing about your journey and seeing your progression!
Thanks so much, Ariel ❤️
Great to hear from you again! I've been watching your podcast for a while and am so stoked to see the updates on your color tip tee, it looks great! I'm just starting to learn how to spin and the beautiful yarn you're spinning is making me excited to improve my own skills :)
Lovely to see you again and have your company while I sit on my couch and knit ☺️ I was here for your teal phase and am also all here for the shift to lighter blues, and your almost finished vellichor looks gorgeous! And regarding podcast recommendations, I’ve been loving We Grow Wild ‘s knitting videos
If you’re looking for knitting/spinning/hand spun content, I think you’ll really enjoy stitches and starlight if you don’t already watch it.
I do watch already! I love Tazhi!
Enjoyed this episode. Him a spinner and it took me years to get the courage up to take mg wheel apart and fix a wobble in it. Great that you know how to do it too. Cleaning your wheel once or twice a year is a good idea.
I'm trying something new for a more durable handspun for socks. I'm spinning two singles and then plying it with commercial mohair. It was a suggestion from my LYS. I haven't knit the socks yet just finished the log but the halo and strength should be nice - likely sport to DKish.
Good luck with your sleeve design.
I saw someone on instagram doing the same thing - plying with mohair! Such a cool idea I may have to give it a go at some point.
I love the color tip tee!! I can’t wait for the pattern to be released ❤️ I think you did a great job explaining fractal spinning, I don’t spin (yet) and I definitely understood what you were saying!
Omg the Vellichor cast on…..took me FOREVER and no, I couldn’t do it while chit chatting!!!!
I’m Canadian and that pronunciation you played was… odd? It’s definitely TOO-K! 😂
Lol. From a Canadian, “Toke” is definitely wrong. It’s the first one you said. Tooooque
Thanks for an amazing podcast! This was my first time watching and I cannot wait to hear more about your knitting/crafting adventures. I found your channel through ArieKnits and love the knitting friendship you two have 💙.
Ariel is the best!!
I new love..
Hi Emily, I want to start off by saying that I love your podcast, and your energy!
I have a question for you as a beginner knitter, learning about gauge. From my understanding, we knit gauge swatches, block them, and the blocked swatch is what we measure to see if we got gauge. When you were talking about your brother’s Dad’s Sweater, you said that you measured your gauge a few times while knitting. When you do so, do you block the unfinished sweater beforehand, or do you measure your unblocked gauge swatch before and after, to know how much it grows/ compare to your wip?
I hope that made some sense! 🤪
Also, I love your new tee pattern and can’t wait to knit it upon release!
Hi! This is a great question and totally makes sense. When I measure gauge as I go, I don't block it first. I also don't measure my swatch before/after I block it to get the growth rate, but I do have a really great feel for how much growth to expect and take it into account when I measure! It's definitely not at exact science, but I look at my gauge and think "oh so when this grows a bit it'll be spot on!". Not sure if that made sense but if you want to be super careful I think blocking your WIP and measuring is a great thing!
@@emweecurt thanks so much for explaining this! It makes a lot of sense. I guess my intuition for gauge will keep getting better as I go and take notes, but for now I’ll keep measuring!
I am catching up with your oldest episodes and you being happy about how quickly the camera focuses now made me giggle. 😅 I am planning on knitting your Dad's Sweater in Poivre et Sel of De Rerum Natura Gilliatt this late summer/early autumn.
It will be so beautiful in that color! I hope you love it!
so interested to see where google sourced that pronunciation lol - it's like "tuuk"
Hahahaha this is hilarious to me - thank you for letting me know!
Do you watch Andrea Mowry’s podcasts? She talks a lot about spinning. When’s the tee pattern coming out? I’d love to make it in time for Flock!
I love Andrea Mowry's podcast!! One of my favorites. The tee will come out later this month!
@@emweecurt Awesome! Looking forward to it!
Hi Emily! I would love to make a Dad's sweater. I was wondering how you think the Corrie worsted wears over time since it is pretty expensive. Do you find it pills much? Thanks!
Hi Helen! I wear my Dad's Sweater a ton and only have pilling under the underarms and bottoms of the sleeves. There is a little bit of pilling there but not too bad!
