Beautiful garments and so inspiring. Love the Amy slipover. I did call Pick Up Every Stitch and ask about purchasing Sandnes yarn for the sock pattern in order to buy the pattern book, as was mentioned in the video. However that's not the case. I was informed that a sweater quantity of the Sandnes yarn needs to be purchased. Just letting others know as I may not be the only one with the same idea.
So sorry for our misinformation. You are correct, a sweater's quantity of yarn must be purchased. So silly, especially since you're paying for the book. 😩 K&J
You can attach the ends of one knitting barber to each circular needle tip to keep stitches from escaping rather than using needle stoppers. This also works when trying on top down in-progress sweaters without moving stitches off the needles.
Which cast on method to you use when you are making a top down sweater. Esp if you have to pick up for a neckine. I love how you mention how you you can wear your knitted garments when they are finished.
Hi Paige. We both use a conventional CO unless we need some stretch, then a German Twisted CO. Or, if a pattern suggests a different CO, we consider that too. If you're going to PU stitches for a neckband, you'd want something pretty stable such as a conventional CO. I hope this helps!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna The Cast on I was referring to was the COn for the Amy Slipover. I find that using a conventional cast on leaves a gap in the first few cast ons. Thanks for your reply.
Thank you ladies for sharing your beautiful projects☀️ I watched one episode of it is a Sarah and she made a very offputting statement that she doesn’t take time to respond to viewer comments because her time is better spent for her knitting. Which is fine if she’s not interested in connecting with viewers here, but turned me off from subscribing to follow other episodes. Kim, Clover has a mini pom pom maker that would make a cute bunny tail. Also makes a cute mini pom-pom for shorty socks.💜
I have made three Oslo hats. Now I do a provisional cast on so rather than picking up stitches I just knit two live stitches together. I find it so much easier.
In case someone else hasn't already written it, 'sort' in Danish simply means black (but now you got me wondering if there may be an etymological connection to 'soot'). Great video and thanks for the chat and inspiration! 🙂
Hi! I did a little research this morning. Soot comes from a word that means "to settle" as ashes do. Sort comes from a word that means dirty! So interesting.
I appreciate that you both detail your joys and concerns for your projects. It really is very helpful to those of us who want a more perfect results. No errata was listed after I reported. This was a very well know designer. We all need to be ware!😂reputation doesn’t necessarily mean accuracy. Thank you for the details you give.
I know this video is way old but Kim, I cannot get over how gorgeous your sweater is! I still can't believe you made it. Wow wow wow... Excellent work. I don't think I would ever in my life have the patients for something like that. Bravo!
Regarding what you spoke about at the end: I hope you don't feel you need to monetize your youtube channel (selling merch and feeling like you should buy new equipment). I think I speak for most viewers when I say that I simply like to listen to you talking about your knitting. period. It doesn't need to be fancy and you don't need to 'scale up'. STAY AS YOU ARE!

It’s so funny that Kim is always knitting the most difficult things and still would be too lazy to make the bows for the Amy slipover 😅 that’s where you draw the line haha 😂 And it’s so good that you remind yourself and us that there is no knitting police, I love that! I also made the Amy slipover and did just a normal bind off fie the bows and I do not regret it 😊 Have a nice weekend 🎉
I really appreciate you talking about the ads and that the ads are thoughtfully placed. I don’t mind letting a few ads run, knowing you put so much time into both filming and editing your videos. When a video is constantly interrupted and cuts off in the middle of sentences then I really lose interest.
Re: the Amy Slipover, which I absolutely love. I haven't made it, but yes, tabs are the way to go! Finally caught up as I'm back from vacation... Thank you for recommendations of podcasts! I love the vests you both are doing, have added to my infinite queue but I often am not successfully finding vests I want to knit, you've hit my Sweet spots with these!
I don’t mind the quick ads (under a minute) but UA-cam is sneaking in 22 min. ads, sorry but not going to watch an infomercial on UA-cam. A few years ago I was getting hour long ones. That’s just too much. 🙄
Can I just say that you are the BEST....I enjoy each episode as the best dessert and there's always so much to learn. Loved the Amina and the Academic is going to be a show stopper ! you nailed that color combination Jonna. Loved the recommendation of It's a Sarah, so fresh and fun !
I’m so disappointed. I just finished a cowl. Looks nothing like the picture. I am never happy with what I finish. I ripped out an entire hat a couple of weeks ago. I want to knit beautiful things. I had high hopes when I picked up my needles after finishing some quilts. 😢very discouraged.
I always look forward to your podcast! Jonna, thank you for the Musselburg hat tip regarding the cast on. I agree with your review on the Personal Librarian. Fascinating story but I felt that the writing was subpar.
It’s Amalie by Astrid Troland. This version is done with Artyarns merino cloud plus 1 strand of their matching mohair. Yarn is self striping unlike the original pattern which uses 2 separate colors. I've added it to the show notes!

Johnna, I agree; Isabell blows me away. So many other designers could learn a lot about how to make their patterns better as they have a lot of room for improvement. Some other designers are great too but I find them fewer than I thought I’d find once I started making more designers wares. I love what you are both wearing. Im really glad you decided to steam your knit collage seater its so good. Kim, if you missed my answer when you asked also steamed mine. I did for the same reasons that you did. Jonna, when you make an Oslo Hat our of Pascuali Tibetan how many skeins do you use? They are so nice with that yarn and I'd like to give it a try. Thank you!
Two for any of the sizes. I think the black one is a bit too large! I made the third size. It’s fine though, just a little slouchy. Had plenty of yarn.

Kim, your Amina is stunning. I would never have the patience for all the ends and the dangling yarn skeins of intarsia tangling up, so kudos to you for sticking with it. The end result is beautiful! Jonna,I agree that the Musselburgh is a long project with fingering yarn, so next one I will try DK. I think anything thicker would be really thick when tripled for the brim. I love your perseverance with the academic vest to get the colours that you really like. For me, picking the colour combos is the hardest part. I always second guess myself and have regrets about my choices. I think it is a real gift to be able to choose the right colours for these kinds of projects. I too love It Is A Sarah’s podcast. Hey Kim your Amina awesome, I love it, can't wait to meet you. I have to come visit pick up every stich soon. Hi Jonna, you ladies are always wonderful.🙏💕❤️
Hi ladies! Love all your sweaters ❤ I am always inspired by you two! Thank you both for your time to share and bring all your informative journeys to us like minded knitters! 😊
Your Amina sweater is a dream, Kim. It is so different and looks gorgeous on you. I love the Emsworth vest, Jonna. I am currently knitting my second one. Isabell Krämer patterns are simply perfection. What an entertaining episode with your podcast and book suggestions too. Thank you both!

That sweater Kim is beautiful. I am a slow knitter and I also work. That's awesome, can't wait to come to the store I need yarn. Let me know when you ladies will be there again.💕❤️
Thanks so much for the mentions - we loved having you both at our Aimee Meet & Greet and I'm so sorry the time before was so stressful for you, Kim! Jonna, I adore your final color combo for the Academic vest - I agree, its so worth trying different color combinations until you get one that really works for the pattern and for you. We do have a full basement at Yarnia - containing almost as much yarn as you see on our selling floor! For New Jersey, I'd say we're an average size yarn store. Our first location was really tiny - but it helped us get our start and enabled us to move to a space and neighborhood we love. 🧡🧶🧡 ~K
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna that’s sweet of you! I think I have enough stitch markers. (Read here too many 😆) I need to spend less on knitting notions cause you can only use so many at a time 😂 thanks 💜

Loved all your beautiful work again this episode. The Kaleidoscope cardi is very cute -- though I'm not a fan of bulky yarns either. RE: needle-felting: **Yes** you **can** needle felt srips of fabric -- **if** the fabric is plant fibre -- cotton, linen -- or silk. Synthetics -- or synthetic blends? Nope -- the plastics from which they're made won't break down enough under the needles. I've needle felted fabric -- into other fabric, yarn into fabric, etc. -- no prolem. Just thought you'd like the info in case you use such a "yarn" again. 🙂
Love the final colour choice for your academic vest Jonna. Have also been enjoying It is a Sarah podcast. The book your friend sent you looks interesting. Another wool themed book is Raw materials, working wool in the West by Stephany Wilkes. It was recommended by Kathy of Northwest Knitting. That is another podcast I enjoy. That you both for your wonderful podcast.
So many finished pieces!!!! And they are all stunning. Looking forward to see Kim in her new cardigan from Knit Collage and Jonna’s vest is looking stunning! My daughter is in love of every single project bag Jonna shows… she says she is like Mary Poppins ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌸
AHHHHHHH Kim, your cardi is gorgeous, soooooo adorable!!! Jonna, your final color choices on your color work sweater are so perfect!!!!! I can’t remember how I found Sarah (It Is a Sarah) but I have been hooked ever since! She is fun and super inspirational! Her little dog is so beautiful too! I agree, her “Dutchie English” is perfect too. Thanks ladies for another fabulous video!!! 🌼🌸🌻
I’m knitting the ‘City Limits’ sweater which has the long ‘short’ rows you mentioned. It’s the first time I’ve come across that method. Jonna, you can try felting your steeks before cutting. I’ve seen it done, (KnitsnPieces podcast), but never done it myself. And you forgot to mention that the Musselburgh hat is reversible! Great episode 😊
Another great podcast (newer) is Yarn Chaos (Birgitta), she is from Iceland but raised in the states and now back in Iceland, soft spoken and just very sweet. You will love her!!!
A lovely podcast, I just mute the adds😘. You are such beautiful knitters and so appreciative your knowledge you share. I will never get to your expertise but get joy in each of your projects. Jonna, your academic sweater was beyond beautiful,,, until the next one …thank you.
Jonna-when Teddy settles down, you might enjoy reading 'The Many Daughters of Afong Moy" by Jamie Ford. It is also a fictional account of a woman that lived. Afong Moy was the first Chinese woman to come to the US. I am really enjoying it.
Kim, the Kaleidoscope cardigan is just beautiful! It matches your personality perfectly. I've resisted buying Knit Collage likely because I haven't seen it in person lol. I knit the Comfort Fade Cardi and really don't care for the shawl collar either. I did see the Tracie Millar opted for 1x1 ribbing. I think I'm going to frog the collar and do that. Jonna, the academic colors you landed on are just perfection. The blue you are using for the Amy Slipover is just stunning! I could sit here and listen to yarn/color choices all day lol. Thank you so much for another great episode.
Hi - about the Camarose Snefnug yarn - The color "Sort" is the danish word for BLACK 😀 (and not ash, as you say) Thank you for er nice episode! Best regards from Denmark 😊
My husband's great aunt Kathleen worked as one of J.P. Morgan's Librarians under this woman in the book. When I was last in NY, we visited the Library (which is so beautiful) and we imagined what her life must have been.
I can't wait for Fridays to hear what you have been up to. The only problem is that the two of you keep making my knitting wish list grow exponentially! 😊Jonna, loved your review of The Personal Librarian. Reading it made me want to see the Library she so heavily influenced. You may be interested to know that the library has a major exhibit of her life planned for 2024.
Yes, I will be visiting the JP Morgan Library! I wish I had gotten to her grave before the episode. I’ll take a picture to share. I imagine she felt like one of the most powerful powerless women in the world.
WOW, the subject of your book is fascinating, it made me tear up. I need to look for it. WOW! Wow, something we can’t even imagine doing in our lives and that, folks it what White Privilege is. 😢
Thank you so much for all your wonderful work Kim and Joanna your podcasts are great. You both seem to be such lovely people and willing to share with us snippets of your lives and your knitting. This is the best knitting podcast I watch. Kind regards from New Zealand.
I just finished 2 musselburgh in sock yarn on size 2 needles. I love the fabric it made. I’m so happy with it and my husband loves his. This is a great pattern.
So I’ve just spent a good 15 mins looking at and then adding nearly everything of Irene Lin’s to my favourites or queue 😊 I’m sure I even spotted Aro from Aro knits and purls in one of the pictures
You two look so adorable together in this video! You're all coordinated and both outfits are just perfection!

Ooooh, good to know! I love your selection of Rauma Finullgarn. Excited to visit again soon.
I wanted those flower stitch markers as well but they don’t ship to Canada 😫
Oh no! Do you want me to buy a set for you and send them? Let me know... 😘 Kim
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna that’s sweet of you! I think I have enough stitch markers. (Read here too many 😆) I need to spend less on knitting notions cause you can only use so many at a time 😂 thanks 💜
Your ends look very neat on the inside of your sweater.
I knit a robinia I love the fit ❤
Ooooooh! Good to know. It’s stunning!
More Teddy pics pls!
Will do!
can you tell me what the jumper above Jonna's head is please?
It’s Amalie by Astrid Troland. This version is done with Artyarns merino cloud plus 1 strand of their matching mohair. Yarn is self striping unlike the original pattern which uses 2 separate colors. I've added it to the show notes!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna thank you
I want buy your guys yarn
🤣
Thank you, Margaret.
Thank you, Luce. I’ll add the book to the list!
Love it! High praise, indeed!
I haven’t seen her dog yet 🐶 bc I got hooked on February episodes. I’ll go back!
Oops! 😂
Another great podcast (newer) is Yarn Chaos (Birgitta), she is from Iceland but raised in the states and now back in Iceland, soft spoken and just very sweet. You will love her!!!
Subscribed! Thank you!
A lovely podcast, I just mute the adds😘. You are such beautiful knitters and so appreciative your knowledge you share. I will never get to your expertise but get joy in each of your projects. Jonna, your academic sweater was beyond beautiful,,, until the next one …thank you.
Thank you, Sue. 🌸
Jonna-when Teddy settles down, you might enjoy reading 'The Many Daughters of Afong Moy" by Jamie Ford. It is also a fictional account of a woman that lived. Afong Moy was the first Chinese woman to come to the US. I am really enjoying it.
I’m adding it to my list! Thank you.
I'm so excited to be a winner! The yarn thrown in is so generous. Thank you, Thank you! (emailing my address, I'm the Scarsdale/WV gal)
Got it! Thank you. Mail will go out on Monday! Congratulations.
Thank you, Julie! I passed your tip about the CFC on to Misa.
We could talk about knitting all day! 🤣
Hi - about the Camarose Snefnug yarn - The color "Sort" is the danish word for BLACK 😀 (and not ash, as you say) Thank you for er nice episode! Best regards from Denmark 😊
Oops! Thank you for letting me know!
My husband's great aunt Kathleen worked as one of J.P. Morgan's Librarians under this woman in the book. When I was last in NY, we visited the Library (which is so beautiful) and we imagined what her life must have been.
How wonderful! I’m excited to visit.
I wish she had left her memoirs, but understand why she didn’t.
Jonna you ladies are my inspriation your vest color work awesome. OMG. Love it.💕❤️🙏
Thank you!
Thank you so much for all your wonderful work Kim and Joanna your podcasts are great. You both seem to be such lovely people and willing to share with us snippets of your lives and your knitting. This is the best knitting podcast I watch. Kind regards from New Zealand.
Thank you so much, Helen. That tickles us BOTH! 💕💕💕
I just finished 2 musselburgh in sock yarn on size 2 needles. I love the fabric it made. I’m so happy with it and my husband loves his. This is a great pattern.
Great job! It's a beautiful hat. Jonna would love to make a scrappy one.
Love both of you. Love the rice bag.
So I’ve just spent a good 15 mins looking at and then adding nearly everything of Irene Lin’s to my favourites or queue 😊 I’m sure I even spotted Aro from Aro knits and purls in one of the pictures
Oh, goodness. I can’t help you as I bought two more today!! The Rota Sleeveless top and the Gown Cardigan! 😍
Another great episode! Your sweaters are beautiful! Jonna, I can’t wait to see how that Skeindeer vest turns out!❤
Same!! I started the steeks today but ripped back. It's an interesting pattern and it's forced me to have to think like a knitter!
