There was so many different class’s in drag racing, even back then and over the years, it was hard or difficult to keep up with them all, hell I forgot more things in drag racing than I remember and the older I get the more I forget too, not only that but a lot of things. I was only vaguely aware of where funnies came from. I just knew it started with those "funny looking" AWB cars in /FX. I guess it makes sense, what else can you do with an /FX car once the model year changes other than sell it to an exhibition/match racer? It cant run in /Gas because of the altered wheelbase, and it is too heavy to make a good /Altered
I always wondered what class those were in, thank for clearing that up. I use nail polish sometimes as well, free paint or just that the color is wild lol

That cheap nail polish works well and you can't beat the price. It lays down (usually) better than enamels. And it comes in some bitchin colors Sorry it took so long to respond to this. I missed it when you posted, and I have been pretty sick the past couple of weeks.

@@rattslive1255 I use cheap lacquer thinner. Klean Strip is the brand name. Check the polish you are trying to thin, it should have that classic nail polish odor of mainly acetone.
Trying to class scale models in the 60s can be tricky and convoluted at best sometimes! Lol. You almost have to pick a specific event, let alone years to get it. Like you said 67 (afx no longer existed) it would be XS but prior they could've/would've been in AFX, as AFX was more or less a catch all for full body cars that didn't fit other classes. Kind of like an outlaw Super Stock class.
The LA Colors isn't a true gel, it isn't UV activated. I just thin it with cheap lacquer thinner. I use the Kwik Clean in the blue metal can. Walmart carries it for $10/quart or $20/gallon
they used the bodies from the Craftsman kits -to make the kits-the OLDS -chevelle-Edsel all used the same chassis-motor--the OLDs Fc is coming back out and I think the Edsel will also be retooled-Nice WIP's
It's a shame that AMT didn't see the value in those old tools. This series of kits and the super modified short track kits was the end of a lot of the old annuals.

Things changed quickly between 1965 and 1969
@@Reds_Scrapyard A lot of these were considered Match Racers. There was more money to be made and it was a Run what you built.
@@curb9170Yes, from what I have read before '67 there really wasn't an established class for these except for Match Bash (M/B)
