Another great video Pal! Looking back at my visits to my great grandma's village I remember she use to have a jug of buttermilk by her bedside to consume throughout the day. She was slim and healthy till the day she passed away at the age of 106. Technically, buttermilk is an excellent source of protein and good bacteria. Hi Dr Pal, the 0.8 grams was arrived at pursuant to an American study, by adding two standard deviations to the average person's requirement, which means a majority of the people will do fine even with lesser intake. While it's a good thing to advocate the 0.8 grams, at least 90% people would need lesser intake. Just wanted to share this, just in case you didn't know the basis for this RDA of 0.8 grams.
Totally true. Especially with populations who have ‘adapted’ to fairly lower protein consumption (ie Indians), don’t need astronomical amounts of protein as suggested by most professionals. This is corroborated by the fact that even advanced resistance trainees here can sustain bulks and cuts on around 0.9 to 1.2g/kg intakes (indicating the apparently sufficient protein surplus over their individual RDA sustaining Lean mass).

Hi Dr Pal - I weigh 84kg and I’m 162cm tall. I know! 😭 Currently aiming for 80-120g protein per day. TDEE is 2100 calories and BMR is 1400. So I’ve been averaging 1500-1600 calories and 90-100g protein per day and lost 1 kg in the last two weeks. I’m in my 40s and female. I go to the gym five days a week during the week and exercise sometimes on the weekends, too. I go to the gym in the morning. I’m trying to incorporate at least a 12 hour overnight fast. I think maybe I could do 14. I’m not sure about 16 because of the gym in the morning. But we’ll see how I feel. My old boss used to do 16:8 fasting, and he exercised at lunchtime. He drank black coffee in the morning. Ugh black coffee! I did try waiting an hour after waking this morning to drink coffee. My body actually still cooperated with a bowel movement after a pint of water instead and I felt awake BEFORE my coffee. And felt less distracted. An hour staring into space and not at my phone did that. Incredible! So I’ll try that again! Thank you for your videos. 🙏🏻😊
Mam ,Fasting don't do any think total calorie deficit is what matter Just take enough protein And focous on cardio Chose exercise that you can do for longer duration like cycling, 👍
Doc I didn’t know how t thank you for taking the time to educate on such an important topic. To return the favour I have donated to the Aishwaryam Trust that you’ve mentioned. I love you, your humour and your teachings doc, rock on
Dear Dr. Pal, I want to express my gratitude for your insightful videos. Your presentations strike a perfect balance between entertainment and information. I would greatly appreciate it if you could create a video focusing on plant-based protein. This content would be invaluable for individuals following a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle aiming to reduce fat and build muscle. Additionally, any insights you could provide on soy-based proteins would be highly beneficial.
Thank you for such wholesome adivce, Dr. Pal. Your videos are making me and other people aware of the modern day eating habits and how to regulate them.🙏

Thanks Dr. Pal for educating us so well in nutrition. I am 31 years old, my weight is 71kg, and my waist circumference is 41.5 inches. How much protein should I consume to lose weight and gain more muscles?
To gain muscle you need to Exercise properly with 70 - 90 g protein / day Drink at least 2.4 litre of water daily For weight loss you need to become -500 Kcal deficit / day Means If you eat 2200 Kcal / day , now eat maximum upto 1900 Kcal / day - 300 Kcal deficit from diet Also , 200 Kcal deficit with the extra exercise you will do in gym

Sir,in one of your videos,a nutritionist told that only sprouted pulses have more protein and dhala which we use for sambar or kootu has more of carbs. Can you please give us a list of which veg.food contains how much protein so that we can plan our daily diet. Your videos are Thought provoking and I share this knowledge to my students also. I love your timely jokes.
Thanku sir ...got it very clearly...about protein powder...and how I should take it ...we all love u sir ..I know being a doctor how busy u must be...yet u are available for all of us . . Not with all the important information u have thought to be shared but also about what we want to know about our requirements ❤
Dr. Pal your explanation about difficult things making easier is marvelous. I m sure all your patients and students must be enjoying the subject. Sincerely feel that one day you will meet Gus Fringe and he would say " Are you real or am I looking into mirror!! 😊
This is one video which I can share with my parents and they can relate to and laugh as well. Love the way the information is shared doctor. Please keep going strong!
All our vegetarian Indian diets are having Protiens like idli and dosa had Dal in the batter, and usually eaten with chutney and Sambhar…dal chawal, khichadi, roti and dal, kadhi chawal, khaman dhokla etc…we have to control our oils and portions of rice and rotis…
I am talking about my journey, losing weight felt impossible! I often take care of my body but it was not giving me any results. Finally, I realized that my diet was the villain. I barely have any protein or fiber in my food and I was eating sugary snacks loaded with palm oil that left me wanting more but affected my body. But finally, I got to know about my weight loss hero which is Alpino Chocolate Oats and peanut butter! This combo is a total dream, the high protein keeps me feeling full and fueled, helping me build muscle. Plus, the fiber keeps my digestion happy. But the best part is it's ridiculously delicious! Forget bland oatmeal and protein shakes that taste like hell. Alpino Oats and peanut butter satisfy my cravings without any added sugar. It's the perfect solution for anyone who wants to lose weight without sacrificing taste buds.
It’s actually quite easy to get plenty of protein even if you are on a calorie restricted diet, personally I’m on 18:6 and eat twice a day and get way over the recommended dose of protein plus it has the added benefit of keeping you full for most of the time restricted period you are not eating
your words sound optimistic but in india especially for vegetarians its very challenging to meet the recommended intake of protein as the foodstyle is slanted towards extremely high carb diet. As Dr Pal mentioned, deliberately one has to do that and he has to be very conscious about taking it. If you dont mind can you share your meal plan so that it will be useful for others, pl list down only vegetarians(including eggs) foods
1.5 cup of milk and one large apple for breakfast. 350cal 2 cup rajma cooked with teaspoon spoon of ghee rice 1 cup 500cal 2 cup dal 2 chapati 500bcal. Add more salad of tomato cucumber carrots until you feel full. This is simple example of 80gram protien diet under 1600cal with vegetarian food. You need to learn cooking and counting your calories and you will not find it difficult to make meal plan. I am a married 42 year man and like to cook. And I have figured out what suits me. Dr Pal has been helping people greatly 👍
I am pure vegetarian. I don't even eat eggs. I weigh 58 Kgs. Could you please show a chart of protein for vegetarians so that we can get the pulses and intake in daily basis. It would really be helpful for us if you do so. Thank you so much
Jus a small input.. 100 gms of raw kidney beans has about 22-24 gms of protein however soaked beans when weighed up to 100gms contains about 9gms of protein
Most people need to be aware of the fact that it's not about how much protein you consume but how much protein can be absorbed by your body that you consume. The bio-availability of vegan protein is considerable less than non-veg sourced protein (60% for vegan and around 90% for non-veg). So if you're vegan then you need to consume considerably higher than 0.8gm per kg of body weight. It should be around 1.2gm per kg of bodyweight to offset the lesser bio-availability of vegan sourced protein. Also do remember that our body can absorb only 25-30gm of protein in one meal. Anything more and that is going to get filtered out. So you need to eat frequently with less portion sizes not exceeding 30gm protein in 1 meal to optimize nutrient absorption.
Hello Sir! Your videos are super helpful and educative! Thank u for sharing your knowledge about maintaining a healthy diet & healthy body! May I ask which brand of protein powder do you consume because pertaining to the possibility of the harmful ingredients in some I don't want to risk my health by choosing the wrong protein powder

Turned vegetarian from non veg, M not an eggetarian, many Europeans consider eggs as vegetarian even though it's not. As an Indian vegetarian, my diet consists of lentils - legumes, paneer, milk and different cheeses for protein. I do eat vegetables and fruits for vitamins and minerals and I like my life.

For years, I battled with unwanted weight gain. I just couldn't seem to lose those extra calories no matter how much I exercised. But I finally realized that it was my diet which is the main culprit because I was not consuming enough protein and fiber while constantly eating snacks that contained sugar and lots of palm oil which left me craving that for more. Then, I discovered a game-changer, Alpino Rolled Oats and it's peanut butter. This combo is a dream, it's packed with high protein to keep me feeling full and help me build muscle, plus tons of fiber to maintain my weight. But the best part is this is unbelievably delicious! No boring protein shakes or bland oatmeal for me. Alpino Oats and peanut butter satisfy my cravings without any added sugar. It's the perfect solution for anyone looking to lose weight without sacrificing taste.

Dear Dr. Pal, As im writing this, I'm tearing not out of sadness but truly out of gratitude to you. I'm 41 female and have been struggling with weigh loss after my second child birth and she is 7 years old now. For a long time I was standing at 71 to 70kg. You are a truly God sent child to people like me. I have seen your reels a few times but initially I didn't give much attention to it. But my whole world changed since 22nd June. Your videos are my Bhagavad Gita of guideness, motivation towards my healthy lifestyle. Your teachings an eye opener. Today 8th July I'm standing at 66.2kg and still working towards my ideal weight as I'm at 154cm. Never I imagine to see this number at the weighing scale. I used to be soo lethargic, anxiety, brain fog and what not. Now super duper energetic, able to focus and no more mood swings. Please keep doing this great job and love your sense of humor. Because of you i have learnt to implementing good choice of food for my whole family too. May God bless you and your family. Love with full gratitude from Malaysia❤🙏🙏🙏
@prisas4698 I changed everything and include discipline as well. Dr. Pal preaching is my mantra. You will not go wrong. Be patient and consistency is the key to better result. I became conscious of what I'm eating and calorie intake too. Daily exercise. Initially i was afraid of dumbells but i learnt it was a myth that can cause bulky body. Now I include streghtening and walking inclined on treadmill to increase heart rate.
Dr Pal, thank you for sharing such insights. There is a popular drink in the northern states of Bihar and UP by the name of ‘Sattu’, it is basically roasted gram flour, do you think it can be consumed as a protein drink on a daily basis?
So I've been working out from September and lost around 21 kgs (in 9 months) - current weight is 62 and I'm working towards 44 - 46 kgs (I'm 4'8 so that's a very realistic target). I usually take around 120 g protein a day ( from 400g chicken and 2 egg whites) after which I add fibre and a lil carbs to the tune that the calorie intake is around 1200 per day. Don't really think this diet is feasible if I try veg sources of protein though since the calorie intake for the same amount of protein will be a lot higher Also have thyroid issues so at 1200 calories, I'm just at a deficit where I lose 1 kg in 1 - 1.5 weeks
Before 62Kg and then 44-46kg you lost weight because of diabeties? or just to achieve slim body? even your height is not much but i guess 44Kg would be underweight somewhat in range of 50-54Kg with healthy muscle mass should work

Legumes and pulses on a 100 grams basis arearound 350 calories and 20 to 25 grams of protein except for a few which are 17 gram protein. That is they will give you anywhere between 13.5 calories per gram of protein to 17 calories per gram of protein. Grains such as rice, all forms of milletes and wheat will provide roughly 350 calories for 10 gram of protein this too is on 100 grams basis. Soya chunks again on 100 grams basis will give you 350 calories and 50 grams of protein. Nuts on 100 grams basis will give you 575 calories to 620 calories for 15 to 20 grams of protein with healthy fats. All green vegetables will give you 0.5 to 0.8 calories per gram weight. Exception is green peas which provide 6 grams of protein for 100 calories. All fruits will give you 0.8 to 1.2 calories per gram of weight.
Biggest protein sources haven't discussed above 1.Spirulina 60-65per i.e 60grms of protein per 100grms 2.Soya chunks 50grams approx for 100grams and men should not eat more than 50grms of soya chunks per day 3. Chick pea is the cleanest protein with around 20per protein

My body actually still cooperated with a bowel movement after a pint of water instead and I felt awake BEFORE my coffee. And felt less distracted. An hour staring into space and not at my phone did that. Incredible! So I’ll try that again! Thank you for your videos. 🙏🏻😊
Mam ,Fasting don't do any think total calorie deficit is what matter
Just take enough protein
And focous on cardio
Chose exercise that you can do for longer duration like cycling, 👍

Pal. Your videos are making me and other people aware of the modern day eating habits and how to regulate them.🙏
👍
Great video as usual! Could you please share detailed what you eat in a day to meet your protein requirement for vegetarians. Thanks.
morning breakfast: 100 grams black channa, 100 g white chenna, 100g Green gram dal boiled form. noon LUNCH: 300 grams moong lentils and 300 grams drumstick leaves (sambar) with little millets (100g) Evening snacks: a mixture of nuts 200g as you like with black tea Dinner: one thick avocado juice without sugar.
It consists of only lentils. What about eating complementary proteins for complete protein requirement ? @@jagadheeshful
Thanks a lot Dr Pal , humble request to arrange sessions for North Indians as well .
As a fitness enthusiast, i agree. This video is 100 % true.
Thanks Dr. Pal for educating us so well in nutrition. I am 31 years old, my weight is 71kg, and my waist circumference is 41.5 inches. How much protein should I consume to lose weight and gain more muscles?
To gain muscle you need to Exercise properly
with 70 - 90 g protein / day
Drink at least 2.4 litre of water daily
For weight loss you need to become
-500 Kcal deficit / day
Means
If you eat 2200 Kcal / day , now eat maximum upto 1900 Kcal / day
- 300 Kcal deficit from diet
Also , 200 Kcal deficit with the extra exercise you will do in gym

Thanks for sharing!!
Dr.Pal, thanks for this video! It's amazing how you package these brilliant info with your trademark sense of humor.
Dr Pal, are carbs essential for the body ? What are your thoughts on a low carb diet (~ 100 grams/day)
All our vegetarian Indian diets are having Protiens like idli and dosa had Dal in the batter, and usually eaten with chutney and Sambhar…dal chawal, khichadi, roti and dal, kadhi chawal, khaman dhokla etc…we have to control our oils and portions of rice and rotis…
😂😂😂😂
What a Comedy
Idli and Dosa are Simple Carbs With Just 1 gram
How explain 😊
1.5 cup of milk and one large apple for breakfast. 350cal
2 cup rajma cooked with teaspoon spoon of ghee rice 1 cup 500cal
2 cup dal 2 chapati 500bcal.
It means I can beat the crap outta you with that diet
I am pure vegetarian. I don't even eat eggs. I weigh 58 Kgs. Could you please show a chart of protein for vegetarians so that we can get the pulses and intake in daily basis. It would really be helpful for us if you do so. Thank you so much
❤
😊
Wonderful video sir... Got all my doubts cleared. Sir can you recommend a good whey protein powder brand?
Hello Dr Pal, your sessions have been so helpful. My waist line is 45 inches and height 5.4ft and body weight 93kg

May I ask which brand of protein powder do you consume because pertaining to the possibility of the harmful ingredients in some I don't want to risk my health by choosing the wrong protein powder
Thank You Doctor Pal.. you definitely live up to the name 'Pal' aka Friend... Peter Parker is your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman. You are our friendly neighbourhood Doctor even though we live in India, thanks to UA-cam.

Nice facts about protein. Green gram seems to be high in protein rather than soyabean. What is your opinion dr?
Thanks you so much for the wonderful information… please share your opinion on creatine supplement???… thank you Doc🙏🏼

When I see ur comment I got confused whether it's me commented before bcoz I have same issue . What u changed to reduce weight

Don't really think this diet is feasible if I try veg sources of protein though since the calorie intake for the same amount of protein will be a lot higher
Also have thyroid issues so at 1200 calories, I'm just at a deficit where I lose 1 kg in 1 - 1.5 weeks
Male or female??
Before 62Kg and then 44-46kg you lost weight because of diabeties? or just to achieve slim body? even your height is not much but i guess 44Kg would be underweight somewhat in range of 50-54Kg with healthy muscle mass should work

The intentional transition between languages to make the video more appealing is good while watching a 30-50 seconds reel.
While discussing health in depth, I believe it is more important that your audience understands the message and that can't happen if the rhythm keeps breaking.
Unless the content is intended for a limited audience only.
Kind Regards

Thank you Doctor! My weight is 82kg.
Please add summary of important points at the end of the video
I am 50 years, female, weighing 75kgs and waist 34 inches, taking 5mg rosavastin F for high cholesterol.
Good one but you should also stress on bioavailability of protein in lentils and beans?
To be clear .....
Egg is not vegetarian, it's non-vegetarian
Biggest protein sources haven't discussed above
1.Spirulina 60-65per i.e 60grms of protein per 100grms
2.Soya chunks 50grams approx for 100grams and men should not eat more than 50grms of soya chunks per day
3. Chick pea is the cleanest protein with around 20per protein
Weight 47-48kg
Waist 22-23 "
I am vegetarian
But lactose intolerant
ICMR has adviced against using protein powder? What are your thoughts on this Dr Pal ?
