I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for this video. I followed the steps on my 2018 RAM and it couldn't have gone smoother. I appreciate the effort of you taking the time to record and share this !!
@@theodoretennisco9079 I didn't install the base blockers. I bought the Kicker 2 way speakers 3.5". They seem to sound great with the 4 kicker 6x9 3 ways. These are running off the stock deck.
Awesome video! You did a great job of explaining everything in detail. The part about the magnet to retrieve the clips in the doors is a bigger thing than you think. I'm sure it's saved more than one guy from an aggravated trip to the parts store to pick up a magnet. Thanks for the walkthrough!
I have went with the JBL club speakers. They are 3ohm speakers all the way around. Crutchfield says they won't fit in the front. But yet they come with a 1/2" spacer. I have the 3.5's in the dash with a bass blocker. The dash speaker requires a Metra 72-7902 wire adapter to eliminate cutting. When putting the bass blocker on, which it goes on the positive terminal side, I utilized spade ends to eliminate any cutting. I found the Metra 72-7902 on ebay and paid like $9.00 with free shipping. The doors require a Metra 72-6514 wire adapter to eliminate cutting. I found them as a pair for both doors on amazon for like $13 and prime shipping. I utilized the spacer that came with the speakers on the front pair and no issues at all. I can have photos later. This video was great. Thank you.
Just put some of these in my truck. Your video saved me a ton of time. I have them on stock radio for now but am going to be amplifying them in a few weeks. The door speakers themselves are clearer than the stock ones but actually dont have as much bass at stock power. If you use these, go ahead and get an amplifier. You can find 2 channel amps for pretty cheap. The kicker dash speakers are much louder because they are 4 ohm and the stock dash speakers are 8 ohm.
I never comment on anything, however followed the video and upgraded my speakers just as you said. Thank you Awesome walk through. Sounds great. 2012 Dodge Ram.
Great tutorial. And thanks for the hyperlinks for the speakers and accessories you used. I used your video to guide my speaker upgrade on my 2011 Ram 2500 Megacab. The only thing I would add is that I used 1/2" spacers for the 6"x9" speakers in the front doors. This eliminated the interference with the window regulator and allows the speaker to be tightened down squarely in the hole in the inner door panel.
Just did mine with NVX dash speakers and Morel speakers in the doors and a Pioneer sub that fits in the stock box, mine had the Alpine system, awesome now, you can actually hear cymbals and guitar picking.
Great video. Very informative and detailed. Thanks for the link to the parts. Just ordered them. The links made it easy and your great instructional video was just icing on the cake. Keep up the good work. I just bought a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 so I am looking forward to more of your great videos on this subject.
Just wanted to say thanks for this video and the links you provided. I just did the upgrade on my 17 2500 and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thanks again
I am not sure how many people are still watching this video. Most of the 6X9s are now a little shorter and fit just fine, but wanted Kickers and bought the same kickers as this guy. To take care of the problem of them touching the window rail and to seal the speaker around the mounting surface, I purchased and used a 1/2 inch spacer, made for 6X9s, Metra part number 82-6902. Wondering if anyone else has tried this. (Universal, 6x9 SPK Spacer 1/2 inch 82-6902.
Job well done on the video, very easy to follow. I did mine a few years back (all 6 speakers) and the only thing I did different was add bass blockers to the 3.5 inch speakers. I also added a Pioneer self amplified 8 inch sub-woofer under the front passenger seat. The stock radio really sounds great now.
Thanks for the video, it helped out a lot. I went with the Mopar Kicker Audio System Upgrade Package - 77KICK42. It was all plug and play - no wiring adapters needed. I also used Hushmat for sound deadening which worked well but there are other products out there also. I have the basic RAM Express so this was a big upgrade.
So glad I found this video. I found exact same speakers and was debating on whether or not to get them based on comments of people to being able to use them on front doors. Also, I didn’t want to splice wires for dash as I could not find adapters on Amazon. Will get from Crutchfield. Thanks.
Nice video....For the space issue.. get a cheap Yoga mat and cut a spacer seal.. I did this for a GMC truck a few years back..Want to cut road noise.. get a couple of Dynamat or copy sheets and wrap that around the speaker before bolting them back in place.. That will cut road noise... you won't regret it!
For those interested the Alpine SPS-619 6x9 speakers will also fit both front and back doors with no modifications. In the front I had to use the included 1/4 inch spacer and longer screws. Also, the dome & tweeter touch the plastic door grill in the front doors but do not affect any operation or sound quality that I can tell. With the same wiring adapters listed in this video the whole 4 door swap out took a little over 50 minutes.
Thanks for that great video. I just finished installing all the equipment you recommended including the wire connections. Install went great The sound system is fantastic now. It is like night and day. I installed system in a 2016 Ram 1500 Big Horn and super happy now. Just want to say thank again. Keep up the good work.
I was wondering how much newer it'd go with the items shown in the video. I've got a '16 outdoorsman, and was looking to change the stock stuff out. Your reply with the year of your truck told me they didn't change anything in that area. So, good to know :)
Hey man! It was nice seeing you and your brother last week at the meet. I dig your new speakers, they sounded great. Next time I see you I'll have to get my bandanna from ya. I'll return your cereal bowls to ya as well. 👍
Great video, I recently bought a 2016, 1500 and I've been wanting to upgrade the speakers, I didn't want anything crazy/high end, but something better than stock, and I think these will fit the bill, great reviews online.......thanks for sharing, providing the links to the items, and you clear instructions on how to install.
Great video. Only 1 recommendation is to add a bass blocker to the 3.5". The system will sound amazing without subbing out your 3.5". I'm running this with a basic Ram Express head unit. You won't be sorry. Amazon search 3.5 bass blocker. Thanks for the video
Christopher Geschwill it's all plug and play if you get the recommended adapters from the video. The only splicing or soldering you'll have to do is for adding the bass blocker to the 3.5" . Highly recommended and super easy. If you don't the 3.5" will be trying to handle the bass that's going through the 6x9. Trust me the $6 bass blocker will balance the 3.5 so you can rock the 6x9. Hope this helps
Suicidal Switch I understand but as far as factory, I know that the dash speakers are Somehow connected and run off the same channel as the front doors. My question is where do the front doors and dash speaker wires splice/connect.
Tha is for this detailed video. Just finished my install on my 18 bighorn. Sounds so much better. Your video helped an made me confident in my efforts for the install
I bought the same speakers and noticed the fit issue with the front doors. I figured I needed spacers, but didn't want to wait for them to get here. I ended up making a template to cut a pair of 1/4" plywood spacers. Worked great. As far as the wiring adapters, I also didn't want to wait for those (or pay for them) but wasn't hot on the idea of cutting/splicing wires. The OEM speakers are junk anyway, so I clipped the wires and pried off the connector and soldered the Pioneer wire leads to them. I used photos of the adapters on Crutchfield or Amazon to get polarity right.... A pretty easy DIY connector mod.
I’m about to buy a 2017 1500 v6 and if the sounds of it will kind of disappoint me then I’ll do it too, great video but I’m afraid of the speaker touching the mirror mount too, as the truck will be brand new and quit expasive i wont take a chance to damage it !
I love the way you explained everything in detail, so i think i will try to do the same on my truck, only one question, what was the price for the speakers? thanks
Great video. Thanks for explaining. These kicker 3.5” dash speakers are 4 ohm. The stock speakers out of the dash are 8 ohm. Any issues you had? Do the new dash speakers over power since they are 4 ohm now?
It's very easy to wire a 4 ohm resistor in line with these. You can get a pair of them for about $1 and it's a really common fix for this issue. It will cut the volume of those 3.5" speakers in half and balance them with the rest of the speakers in the truck. You just cut a couple inches out of the positive lead of the new wiring adapter and solder or crimp in the resistors. This is preferable to adjusting the equalizer because IT will allow the other speakers to still produce proper sound. Simply adjusting the EQ ends up taking away from everything else. Some people just skip swapping the 3.5s altogether...
Ok 2 things, I clicked the link for your 3.5s and it brought up 5x7/6x8 speakers, and the link for the wiring adapter for your dash speakers came up saying it wouldn't fit my truck. Mine is a 2014 without the alpine unit.
Great vid! Helped a lot.. I did lose two of those window panel clips down into the door and couldn’t find them with my magnet... any idea what they’re called or where to get them?? I’m desperately searching and can’t find them.
Geoffrey Stephens Did the speaker replacement make a big difference with the 2019 Ram stock 6 speaker system? I find it lacking. Did you change amplification or add a sub at all?
Hey bro great video! i have a question, crutchfield offers Kicker 43CS series 6x9(150rms) speakers with a slightly smaller top and bottom measurements than the Kicker DS series 6x9(90rms)the one you installed, would top and bottom measurements make a difference in fitting in the front doors? Closing that bit of a gap.
so I have a 2016 ram 1500 big horn. I bought the kicker 3.5" tweeters for the dash but I noticed you installed 6x9 triaxials in the door. so is there any kind of cross over built into the truck and do you want to install a 6x9 with midrange and tweeter in it in the door when you have seperate tweeters in the dash. Just wondering how that works. thanx for your time and the video.
Kristian Thompson I put a component set in my 02 ram. I placed the 6x9 in the door as normal and the tweeter in the dash in the locations where the 3.5s were of course. It did not sound good at all. Entirely too much separation between the two speakers. I ended up cutting a hole in the door panels about 5 inches above the woofer and flush mounted them. Best decision ever. However I will not be doing that to the 2018 I bought last week, lol
You definitely want to install 3-way 6x9’s in the door and not use separate components...the 3 1/2” dash speaker is more of an “added extra” that is going to give you an extension of the spatial “highs” closer to ear level of the listener...and those bass blockers are a GREAT idea!!!
Great video and very straight foward. I was just wondering since im doing the same for my ram I am having trouble getting the correct wiring harness because crutchfield says otherwise.
Getting ready to do this mod but would like to throw in an amp if it'll make it sound better than just a speaker upgrade. Does the stock system already bring an amp? Or will I have to wire one in? Hopefully It has one and I can just replace it with a better one. I have a 17 simple express ram
Is the set up exactly the same for the 2017 model year? Crutchfield swears that the harnesses and speaker sizes are incorrect/don't fit. I have the 8.4 Nav unit with stock 6 speakers.
the metra 71 039C speaker wiring harness is no longer available via the link. Do they appear somewhere else or is there another replacement that will work?
Nice Video, what wattage were the OEM speakers you pulled? The 3.5 / 6x9's ? I'm trying to figure out what wattage output the OEM radio 3.0 puts out, can't find info on it anywhere, i want to replace the oem speakers with speakers that will add punch to the bass, but don't want to get too powerful speakers so that the headunit doesn't even power them up. How are the kicker 6x9's bass performance?
Not sure but I still have to stock speakers somewhere. I will see if I can track them down. As far as the bass on the new ones. It's much better than stock but I will most likely be adding a sub soon.
i'd love to add a sub, but my underseat is where i keep screw kits, levels, squares, poles and what not for misc hand tools and straps. I need to rely on the door speakers for my bass haha. I just want it to be punchy.
Great video, Thanks for sharing, I had one question, on the front doors, was any problem with the door panel going back on like new with the new kicker speakers?
So how do they sound after? I had the Boston Acustics system in my 08 Grand Cherokee (now own a 2014 RAM) and the speakers were thin and light like you were showing. I bought some of the top rated speakers for quality and bass.. to my disappointment they were quieter and had noticibly less bass.. even though they were 3x as heavy and the magnet was 2x as large, put the stockers back in.
The mids and highs are significantly better but the bass is very similar to the stock speakers. I will be looking into an under seat sub setup in the future.
I just bought a 2016 Ram crew cab and would like to upgrade the speakers as I also only have the 6 speaker non alpine stereo. Iona e the larger 8.4 radio. Since the video do you still feel as they were worth the money or is there a better speaker.
Upon your recommendation I ordered the 6 Kicker speakers for my 17 Power Wagon. I didn’t get exactly what you have but the newer models. Watching your install video and the small problem with the front door speakers resting against the inner window post I decided to order 1/4” plastic spacers for 6x9 speakers. Is that going to be a problem with the door panel going back on or will they work ?
Question. I had best buy install pioneer speakers. But when I got there. Installer told me that there is only bass going to front door speakers and that highs will not run on speakers that have tweeters in them. It that true? Do you hear highs on your front doors?
Do you see a way to upgrade the dash speakers with 4 inch speakers? thinking about installing a full Focal system on mine, but they only offer 1 and half inch tweeters or 4 inch speakers, no 3 and half. Would I just need a custom mount, piece of MDF or something for the two different screw hole locations?
figure it will just be easier to go with the component speakers and bracket mount the crossed over tweeters into that spot. one less set of speakers to connect directly
you manage to get 4" speakers in there? I thought the 3.5's had some self tappers, if you just made the hole bigger would it not just screw down to something with the self tappers? or do you need some sort of plate to screw to and not just the dash material?
Did you ever put a sub in? If so what did you get? Also, would you buy these speakers again or would you get another now that you've had them for a year?
Hey brother, I read that you are looking for more bass. If you decide to go with the under the seat sub, be careful. I bought the box that goes under the back row for my ram 1500 and the box is much more shallow than I expected and you can't fit many types of decent subwoofers in them because of that so just do some research with the types of subs you want before buying that $100+ box. Nice sound system upgrade.
Thanks for the heads up. I have a 13 inch shallow mount sub from a previous car. I might just try and modify the box that's in to fit. I will have to figure out how to keep the air space in the box as close as possible.
I just installed two of these 6x9 Kickers in my truck along with the 3.5" Kickers on my dash. Seems like I can only hear the music coming from the dash speakers. The 6x9s are not putting out any significant bass or loud noise. I talked to Crutchfield and they told me that I need an amp to bring them to life.. I have a 2012 Ram 2500 Crew Cab.
I'm going to upgrade the audio in my truck (2013 1500 Crew) also and have been doing research. From what I've seen, the 4 door speakers are 2 ohms but the dash speakers are at something like 8 ohms due to some wiring. What I'm seeing suggested on sites is to keep any speaker replacements at 2 ohms also. Switching to 4 ohm speakers (which these kickers are.. and most aftermarket coax speakers) while the head unit is putting out 2 ohms signal will make the speakers sound soft and quiet. If you amp them or replace the head unit, it won't matter. I'm considering either JBL GX/GTO speakers or Infinity Kappa series as they are both 2 ohm speakers and will sound better than stock while I save to add an amp & get even more out of them
Eric Coggins I've found 2 ohm 6x9s on cruchfield, cant remember the brand. But as 99% of all the other 6x9s they sell, they too are too deep for the front doors of a Ram. If I knew how much of a spacer that could be used to make them work in the front doors, I wonder if it would pay off to use the 2 ohm 6x9s all the way around, and 4 ohm dash speakers, or would the impedance be too low on the front with a 2, and 4 ohm wired in parallel.... Something to hopefully get some professional answers to..
Used the same connectors you recommended. My driver side rear speaker stopped working yesterday and today the passenger rear speaker stopped working. Didn't splice or do anything different from what you did. Literally, plugged them in and put the door panel back on. Any advice? Looked at ALOT of videos before I did it and yours was hands down the best! Thanks in advance!
I just bought an 18 sport, last week and am wondering the same thing. His instructions are good here, as far as step, but as we can all see, he is warping the hell out of that basket and that is a no no from my point of view. So IF there is enough clearance to make a bracket, then I would really like to know that myself. I personally want to do the Kicker KSC series all the way around
So, will upgrading the speakers help with clarity and volume? I have all stock speakers in my '14 express and when I drive with my windows down.. I can barely hear any music, let alone any good sound... I have two 12" kenwoods that i'm going to install soon as well..
Hey man I can’t find the adapters for the 3.5’s. Any advice. Crutchfield doesn’t have them anymore and the one is says to substitute says it doesn’t fit my 2013 ram 4 door
Very Nice Video and I had the same thing happen with my upper molding metal retainers on the rear doors, pain in the butt. I am wondering if you have wired in the amplified sub-woofer yet(I am looking at options now for my 2014 RAM). The only part I'm having issues with is how to wire up the signals from my OEM 8.4 headunit....Mine came with the base 3.0 radio and I've upgraded to the 8.4 nav..so I still have the 6 speaker set up with no existing wiring for the factory Sub. I'd like to do this myself, but I may pay to have one installed, just so I don't muck up the OEM functionality. I'd like to get your take on this since your set up is very similar to mine...Thanks!
I haven't installed a sub yet but it's on the list. I gave a shallow mount 13 I want to make a box for. I will make sure to put a video together when the time comes.
i had the same thought, I know if I fade the headunit sound to only the back speakers it sounds like crap, most of the stock speaker sound comes from the front ones it seems, not sure if that's because maybe the fronts are better speakers??
everyone is complaining about the metra harness for the side speakers saying the polarity is reversed?? did you check on this or experience this issue??
Classic Octane that's what I thought. I'm undecided on 6.5s all, around or sticking with the 6x9s. I also want under seat subs eventually. I just bought my truck so it's gonna take time
you may not even need the sub, just get a 4-6 channel amp to power your door speakers and it'll probably give you decent bass, not subwoofer bass, but still decent.
william morgan who gives a fuck if he does. This is a video on how to install speakers. Why would you ask such a dumb fucking question? Pay attention and watch.
Just a leveling kit. I have 2015 projector lights on the way and will put together an instal video for those when they get here. Looking to do a 3" Carli with 37s later this year.
Has anyone put 6.5's in the front doors? I've got an '18 regular cab with manual windows & locks. I'm thinking of putting the KICKER 3.5's in the dash, 6.5's in the front doors & 6x9's behind the seat. Reason being is I don't want the front door to bulge out with the 6x9's.
there are 6x9's that do properly fit the front doors. just go to Crutchfield's website and put in your vehicles info. They'll show you the handfull of 6x9's that properly fit the front doors. Here's one that fits just fine www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSG690/Pioneer-TS-G690.html
That's gap is a big deal. Why because if you over tighten 1 of the screws you can bend your speaker witch will make your speaker sound like Sh*t and mess your speaker up
A magnet touching metal is not a good idea. For a set of quarter inch spacers is about twenty dollars for a pair. Also putting some sound deadening will help with door rattle and is also cheap.
I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for this video. I followed the steps on my 2018 RAM and it couldn't have gone smoother. I appreciate the effort of you taking the time to record and share this !!

I’m about to buy a 2017 1500 v6 and if the sounds of it will kind of disappoint me then I’ll do it too, great video but I’m afraid of the speaker touching the mirror mount too, as the truck will be brand new and quit expasive i wont take a chance to damage it !
I love the way you explained everything in detail, so i think i will try to do the same on my truck, only one question, what was the price for the speakers? thanks
The sound of the cars driving by in your sped-up segments is a laugh
Great video. Thanks for explaining. These kicker 3.5” dash speakers are 4 ohm. The stock speakers out of the dash are 8 ohm. Any issues you had? Do the new dash speakers over power since they are 4 ohm now?
A little. I had to play with the settings on tue uconnect
Bad ass video. I got the kickers tweeters but went with the pioneer 6x9s instead. Thank you very much for the guidance!
Ok 2 things, I clicked the link for your 3.5s and it brought up 5x7/6x8 speakers, and the link for the wiring adapter for your dash speakers came up saying it wouldn't fit my truck. Mine is a 2014 without the alpine unit.
Thanks!! Just ordered the Kicker speakers from Mopar Parts. Will get the Metra kits and go from there...
Can you do a follow up video on the sound that would be awesome
Don't forget the Caps in series on the 3.5's. You'll keep them clean without distorting since they cannot handle the bass.
Great vid! Helped a lot.. I did lose two of those window panel clips down into the door and couldn’t find them with my magnet... any idea what they’re called or where to get them?? I’m desperately searching and can’t find them.
Good little video. I'm about to replace the ones on my 2019 RAM.
Thank you for the links.
Geoffrey Stephens Did the speaker replacement make a big difference with the 2019 Ram stock 6 speaker system? I find it lacking. Did you change amplification or add a sub at all?
Let me know how it goes I have a 2019 3500 tradesman
Hey bro great video! i have a question, crutchfield offers Kicker 43CS series 6x9(150rms) speakers with a slightly smaller top and bottom measurements than the Kicker DS series 6x9(90rms)the one you installed, would top and bottom measurements make a difference in fitting in the front doors? Closing that bit of a gap.
By top and bottom do you mean the thickness of the speaker? If so I definitely wouldn't go any thicker than the Kickers.
so I have a 2016 ram 1500 big horn.
There is a newer part number for the 3.5s i am ordering them this evening type in your truck on crutchfield and it will give you the new part number
You changed the alpines out for the kickers? Was it really an upgrade or no?
Did it make them louder? My huge problem when the same stock system is that level 25 is the same loudness as 38
Getting ready to do this mod but would like to throw in an amp if it'll make it sound better than just a speaker upgrade.
I'm not 100% sure but I know it's the same on the '16 1500s so I don't know why it would be any different for '17s.
Mike, did you do the install? Was it the same?
Michael Zucker, was wondering. Did you ever figure out if the 2016 and the 2017 were the same to install??
I just installed these speakers on my 2017 Ram 1500. You're good to go.
awesome bought my truck last tuesday a 17 so def gonna upgrade these and maybe down the line put a sub under the seat
Is there a reason why people are installing aftermarket speakers with METRA wire adapters? Are they just trying to conserve the factory wiring??
Any updates on this install? How are the dash speakers? Did you have to put bass blockers
The auto focus at 13:45 is like eating mushrooms lol.
Hey awesome, love the bike as well. Does this system require an amp? Without an amp do you notice any difference? Thanks
It's doesn't require it, but an amp could help. I definitely noticed a difference in mids and highs but I'm still looking to add a sub for more bass.
the metra 71 039C speaker wiring harness is no longer available via the link. Do they appear somewhere else or is there another replacement that will work?
Thank you for the video. What size tires do you have. They look good 👍
Nice Video, what wattage were the OEM speakers you pulled? The 3.5 / 6x9's ? I'm trying to figure out what wattage output the OEM radio 3.0 puts out, can't find info on it anywhere, i want to replace the oem speakers with speakers that will add punch to the bass, but don't want to get too powerful speakers so that the headunit doesn't even power them up. How are the kicker 6x9's bass performance?
I'm driving a 2016 1500 without the Alpine package, just 6 speakers powered by the Radio 3.0 headunit
Any info?
Great video, Thanks for sharing, I had one question, on the front doors, was any problem with the door panel going back on like new with the new kicker speakers?
No they went on without any issues. I have had the speakers installed for a few months now and I haven't had a single problem.
thanks, I'm going to order some myself then
So how do they sound after?
Nice video, you make a good instructor.
Bill did you end up going with that 1/4" spacer for front door speakers? If so, any issues with the door panel?
Can you make a video with a sound test?
Question. I had best buy install pioneer speakers. But when I got there. Installer told me that there is only bass going to front door speakers and that highs will not run on speakers that have tweeters in them. It that true? Do you hear highs on your front doors?
Mine definitely play more than bass out of the door speakers.
What size tires do you have on the ram
Do you see a way to upgrade the dash speakers with 4 inch speakers? thinking about installing a full Focal system on mine, but they only offer 1 and half inch tweeters or 4 inch speakers, no 3 and half. Would I just need a custom mount, piece of MDF or something for the two different screw hole locations?
You might be able to squeeze them in there. You would definitely have to figure out a new mounting system.
figure it will just be easier to go with the component speakers and bracket mount the crossed over tweeters into that spot. one less set of speakers to connect directly
you manage to get 4" speakers in there? I thought the 3.5's had some self tappers, if you just made the hole bigger would it not just screw down to something with the self tappers? or do you need some sort of plate to screw to and not just the dash material?
Is there anyway you could seal off the back part of the speaker hole?
Question, how did you know the 3.5" speakers took different wiring adapters?
Because I bought the wrong ones the first time around ha.
I read something about the 3.5's being 8ohm factory speakers and you replaced the speakers with 4ohm ones, did you notice any issues? too loud??
There won't be any issues. Ohm's matters more when you amp them up. Too loud!?!?!?! That's a good one...
???? all this speakers work in a 2010 Ram 3500??? I would like to upgr the speakers
Did you ever put a sub in? If so what did you get? Also, would you buy these speakers again or would you get another now that you've had them for a year?
No sub yet. Yes I’m still happy with them but I do want some more bass.
Classic Octane awesome. I put the kickers in the back and infinities in the front. Love it. Great with stock system
Nice tutorial! Going from 4 to 8 ohms OK? Does it sound MUCH better? More bass?
I have a 2012 Ram 2500 Crew Cab.
devendati can u tell me what you do I want to do this to my truck 2012 ram 1500 quad cab
Something to hopefully get some professional answers to..
thanks for this
Did you notice any rattle after having the front speakers contacting that window brace or w/e it is?
Nope, almost a year installed now and I haven't had any issues.
Totally off topic...what size tires are you runnin?
Used the same connectors you recommended. My driver side rear speaker stopped working yesterday and today the passenger rear speaker stopped working. Didn't splice or do anything different from what you did. Literally, plugged them in and put the door panel back on. Any advice?
Looked at ALOT of videos before I did it and yours was hands down the best!
Thanks in advance!
Hmm mine are still going strong. Have you pulled them out to see if it's something easy> Maybe they just loosened up while driving.
Classic Octane oddly enough they started working again. Thanks for the quick response!
did you add a subwoofer?
Not yet. But I want to soon.
I just did this and used the kicker/mopar plug and play. No adapters needed. Sounds better.
Where did you get the adapter from?
Do the 6x9 speakers come as a set? Or have to order 4?
Could I put a tweeter in the location of the 3.5 speakers in the dash
Is there enough clearance behind the door panel speaker grille to make a spacer out of 1/4" mdf for the 6"x9"?
fitzmann85 Yes i used a 1/2" 6x9 spacer in my 2011 Ram 2500 front doors.
jamdenfair Thanks. That opens up a ton of options.
The link for the 3.5 (dash) wiring adaptor no longer works. Is there another link? Also will this work with a 2018?
Metra 72-7902 is the part number clutchfield to me to use.
Hey man I can’t find the adapters for the 3.5’s. Any advice. Crutchfield doesn’t have them anymore and the one is says to substitute says it doesn’t fit my 2013 ram 4 door
on the crutchfield link it says no longer available. underneath where it says that is a picture of the replacement ones 72-7902.
Chris Seres Thanks man
Very Nice Video and I had the same thing happen with my upper molding metal retainers on the rear doors, pain in the butt.
Where are the links. We have the same exact truck down to the coloring and cab lights. Houston, Tx here
They are in the video description. Might need to click the arrow to show them.
The wiring harness for the dash speakers are discontinued. Where else can I find these?
Same issue here did you find them?
Is the center dash speaker also a 3.5" ?
I had to go buy the kickers from my local store. All of these links said unavailable.
If I was to buy the speakers the exact setup as you but could I just not buy the adapters and solder or crimp the speakers on
Yeah you definitely could do that. I went with the adapters in case I want to upgrade later.
Does work on my limited 3500 with alpine
Do you think i need to buy rear speakers as well? would it make a difference?
Yes, I would go ahead and do all of them to keep the sound consistent.
i had the same thought, I know if I fade the headunit sound to only the back speakers it sounds like crap, most of the stock speaker sound comes from the front ones it seems, not sure if that's because maybe the fronts are better speakers??
How do you remove the vent portion on the dash in front of the center alpine speaker?
I don't have a center speaker but I would assume they have clips like the other vent that can just be pulled up.
everyone is complaining about the metra harness for the side speakers saying the polarity is reversed?? did you check on this or experience this issue??
Nope, no issues at all since my install.
I upgraded the 3.5s with Infinitys and was so amazed I stopped there.
Did you add a bass blocker?
@@erikjohnson2742 Guess not, I don't know what that is...
@@erikjohnson2742 depends on the speaker. some have high-pass filters included. so no bass blocker needed.
wish we could've heard it. how did it sound?
The mids and highs are much better than stock. I do wish it had more bass. An under seat sub might be in my future plans.
Do you live next to a race track !?
william morgan who gives a fuck if he does. This is a video on how to install speakers. Why would you ask such a dumb fucking question? Pay attention and watch.
Great video thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for watching!
AWESOME VID MAN!!! HELPED A LOT!!!
Awesome how to video and useful links
Done anything else to your truck? I literally have the same one?
Here's one that fits just fine
www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSG690/Pioneer-TS-G690.html
Thanks. Prefect video.
